    Grilled chicken pesto salad

A few pizzerias have come and gone at this location so I didn't have high expectations. I ordered the chicken pesto salad and it was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised, the interior was immaculate and the employees were pleasant. I will definitely come back to try the pizza. Hidden little gem :)

New owners, best pizza pie in Bayonne.

Here to visit George R.R. Martin's stomping grounds? You know, the author of Game of Thrones? George never had pizza this good, especially when he lived in the projects here in Bayonne. Hands down, the best Pizza in Bayonne/Jersey City. I've tried them all, Naples, Big Apple Pizza, a decade ago, Mona Lisa, Starting Point, Joe's, Pizza Masters, Denapoli's, San Vito's, Pompei, 3 Bros, Mama Rosa's, ALL of them, not to mention all of the surrounding areas. This pizza belongs on Broadway. My son and I took a drive down 1st street after taking the kids to the park behind the Little League field. We noticed that a new pizzeria, again, changed hands in this cursed location, but since it's new and the fact we are pizza fiends, we had to try it out. The expectations were low because there has never been a good pizzeria in that location for the time I've lived in and around Bayonne for 20 years. Walked in and ordered 2 slices, on plates, unseen. After ordering, I looked at the slices in the window and immediately mentioned to my son, "These look like Staten Island slices" Got the reheated slices and stepped outside. The CRUNCH factor was immediate. It only confirmed my suspicion that this was no Jersey pizza. I love Jersey pizza, especially Trenton Tomato Pies, but this was clearly the pizza I paid $$$ every month to cross into Staten Island to taste. As soon as we finished our slices, I had to talk to the Pizzaiolo. I asked him where he baked pies before he opened up this shop and he said that he worked at a pizzeria (WELL KNOWN/REGARDED) in Staten Island. *MIND BLOWN* The mere fact that my intuition and guess became true in front of my son (as he looks in amazement at me when the pizzaiolo confirmed he learned how to make pizza in Staten Island) made me look like a pizza superhero. The place he worked at was a place I had been numerous times. His pie didn't taste like the place he worked at, but better. And just like the pizza he crafted in Bayonne, I knew it was a Staten Island style, which is better than most pies in all the boroughs of New York, especially Brooklyn, where Staten Island inherited their Italian pizza shop styles through their southward migration. I ordered 2 slices on Monday, came back Thursday and ordered a pie. Finished it where we parked and ordered another pie 5 minutes later. It's THAT good. The owners are the nicest people you could meet and deal with. The prices reflect NJ prices for NYC quality pizza. Bayonne, you are lucky to have this in your backyard. You don't even know how good you have it. If you don't take advantage of this, it's all MINE. Oh, I forgot to describe the pizza. The pizza is super thin, crunchy, crispy crust like the name says. Tangy/sweet sauce, and gooey cheese.

4.5 stars Mona Lisa…read morePizzeria Ristorante catered my friend's birthday party, and I was so impressed with their preparation and presentation of their food! In fact, I could not stop refilling my plate, and I was not alone in that struggle; everyone was raving about the dishes. First, there were rolls that were essentially garlic knots without the oil or garlic. However, they were fine as they were, given that they had a golden brown, lightly crispy crust and a soft, doughy interior. There was also a massive round platter of their mixed salad, which included a base of spring greens topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, black and green olives, pickled carrots, and roasted peppers. I love all of those ingredients, and I prefer heavy toppings on my salads, so I was thrilled. However, on top of all of those vegetables was a mountain of raw red onion slices, which I had to delicately avoid. The last thing anyone would want at a party was strong onion breath, and I am not a fan of onions in even the most private of circumstances. Regardless, it was a creative salad that was much more interesting than others you would typically find at a casual pizzeria. In terms of the main courses, there was a large tray of each of three diverse items. The Penne alla Vodka contained pasta that was cooked to the perfect balance of firmness and softness, while the sauce was deliciously creamy and tangy without being over-the-top rich. The Chicken alla Marsala did not come with many mushrooms, but the poultry had been pounded thin, lightly breaded, and served in a robust wine sauce. The chicken was tender, moist, and tasty. Lastly, the Eggplant Parmigiana was incredible! The eggplant was sliced very thin, which was great because it minimized the eggplant chew factor that can sometimes causes issues for the diner when the slices are too thick or have gooey skin. However, this also meant that the breading was prominent in each bite. That concept might annoy diehard eggplant fans, but because the marinara sauce was sweet and well-seasoned and the cheese was flavorful, I loved how it all came together. When I was preparing to write this review, I looked at Mona Lisa's website and saw how vast their menu was, including a slew of interesting pizzas and pastas. So, I will definitely need to visit in-person to try some of their other delectable items.

We did the $1 extra charge for all the rolls, large salad, potatoes, vegetables and cookie platter. It's amazing that you get all of that just for a dollar extra. I think this is for tray orders only. Also I have gotten pizza there before, the plain pizza is excellent. The rainbow cake is nice too. We tried the buffalo chicken pizza once but it was chewy. And one time I got chicken parm and the chicken was burnt. Usually this place is very good. Highly recommend for affordable and tasty Italian food!
