Today's catered lunch, courtesy of our pharmaceutical rep, was a hit with the entire team! If the rest of the menu is anything like what we had today, consider us hooked. We were treated to a delicious spread that included a tray of chicken, pasta, eggplant rollatini, salad, sandwiches, grilled vegetables, and an amazing assortment of desserts. The salad and grilled veggies were especially flavorful, and the cannolis and brownies tasted homemade--pure perfection. I really enjoyed my visit to La Guardiola last week. My wife and I ordered a medium pizza and we still had 2 slices left which we took home. I would suggest the small size pie for one person, medium size for 2 people and the large size for 3 or more. Staff is friendly, prices are fair and this is a BYOB restaurant so if you want to bring your own wine, beer, it's ok. They do sell sodas and other soft drinks and the prices are also fair. They have an outdoor patio which is open during warmer months but they also have an indoor area in case you want to dine in although I believe most people order delivery and take out. The restaurant still has a nice small restaurant vibe so you won't feel you're at a pizza slice joint. They open Mon-Sat until 9pm if I'm not mistaken and close on Sundays. No reservation is needed but give them a call before you go. read more

Tried the pizza at La Guardiola and the cheese pizza was delicious! We also got a plain with vodka sauce. It was good but not as good at the regular sauce pizza because it was kinda burnt. I was craving mozzarella sticks so I tried that too and while the flavor was great the cook was not good at all. It wasn't fried long enough so it was too soft and some parts were soggy. Hopefully they work on that next time! I'll definitely be getting more pizza from there though. read more

Food COULD be good, but they don't actually know what they're making. Pizza is great. Pasta dishes, questionable. They only have TWO pastas to select from. Wear your heavy coat because you'll be eating with it on! It's 45 degrees out, the heat doesn't seem to be on in the restaurant and the management and employees don't seem to care. Sure, they're wearing t-shirts, running around and standing by the oven, so they are warm, while we freeze. I had to move my seat to get as close as the oven as I could because I was so cold and my feet were frozen. 6 out of 10 people in the restaurant were eating with their jackets on. I counted. Ridiculous. They have a beautiful retrofit HVAC system with many vents prominently displayed. They should try turning it on so their customers are actually comfortable while they dine. On to the food. To add insult to injury, the bread they offered - ice cold. Could you at least take 30 seconds to warm it up in the oven, especially if you don't have the heat on? The soup I ordered - luke warm! I sent it back to be heated up. Soup should be served hot, especially on chilly nights with the heat off. It was mushroom barely and it was actually pretty good. I will give them that. It had a good flavor and the barley had a little "bite to it." On to the pizza. I ordered the Calabrese. It's their pizza with ground sausage and hot pepper. You've got to be kidding me. They put SO MANY hot peppers on this pizza that it totally ruined the pie. This pizza was an indistinguishable from a hot fireball sent from hell. Are they for real? Am I being spoofed? Perhaps they did this as revenge for me asking to heat up my soup? Or is this how they serve this pie to everyone? I love heat and you can usually find me putting red pepper flakes ALL OVER my slices. Tonight I found myself picking off hot peppers for the first time in my life. Being Italian I've grown up with hot green peppers my whole life, and never had a problem but the amount on this pie was just insane. My girlfriend is Vietnamese and cooks with chili peppers all the time. We love spicy food, but she agreed that this was just over the top when I showed her the photo. The crust was dry and flavorless. Sauce was meh. Here's a tip - instead of loading your pie up with hot peppers, put a few peppers on the pie, and add some chili infused oil and drizzle throughout. It will be a much more subtle heat and the pizza will actually have some life. If you're in Bayonne and looking for pizza, stick to the staples - Pizza Masters, Pompei, Mona Lisa, etc. You'll get a much better slice with way more flavor. read more

This was the worst chicken Marsala that I have ever had. I had high expectations and they were just crushed when I tasted this dish. It was sweet?!? I've never had a chicken Marsala and it be sweet.. please someone correct me if I'm wrong and it's supposed to be "sweet". Im a longshoreman by day and night and when i get to leave the piers for a little while I need to enjoy a great meal to get my mind off of the job. Whenever I come to La Guardiola (The watchman translated) I am ever surprised. Not only does the traditional ItaloAmericano (which I stay away from normally Im a snob) fair very well, but the specials change nearly everyday and are always very very good. I had a braised pork shoulder with a touch of tomato sauce and wine the other day over a bed consisting of jasmine/long grain/and arborio rice. To say the least it was the best meal Ive had out in over a month. Also the seafood is fresh and nearly always cooked perfect. As for pizza, it is a good traditional american pie. However their specialty pizzas are the way to go and are very good for the area. Recommendations include Veal Saltimboca Tilapia Marechiara Whenever they have scallops and usually most on the daily specials As per the review above, you cant say you "LOVE" and put 2 stars for one mediocre experience considering it sounds you've been there plenty of times........ Guardiola is one of Bayonne's little secrets which I hope stays that way for my sake but if they get big Id also be happy for them. Cheers read more

We found this pizzeria a few months back and stopped in for a bite to eat. The place was busy. The food was actually very good on our first try. We had pasta, stuffed mushrooms and a delicious bread served with our meal. Service was pretty good for a busy pizzeria. Our second try we ordered delivery. The woman who answered the phone to take the order was rude. Very rude. The food arrived and it was fairly good. Not as good as the first time but the pizza was tasty. The phone interaction could have been better. Our third and last time we came to eat after shopping. For a Saturday afternoon the place was quiet. The two girls behind the counter were rude. The restaurant was being mopped and cleaned but they were open. We placed our order and sat down. Our food was not good at all. The stuffed mushrooms were served on lettuce and were not fully cooked in the center and were raw. They tasted like pure salt with oregano on top. We brought them to the counter and received attitude from the young lady. She took them and reheated them for us even after we asked for new mushrooms with no salt. They were not edible. The rest of our meal was a pass. The fettuccine lacked taste and was served to us on a plate that was dirty. The chicken fingers were dry and over cooked. We ordered a meat lovers calzone that was undercooked. The ricotta was ice cold in the center and the mozzarella cheese was half melted. We had the gentleman cook some more. Really good pizza! Some of the best personal pies I have had. Their crust is delicious and sauce super flavorful. I genuinly enjoyed all 3 speciality pies I've tried there. Yes the girl at the counter looks miserable but honestly just order your pizza and get over it . The waitress was very friendly though.
