I came here 10 years ago for a Yelp Elite event and have been dying to come back ever since. About two years ago I went on a mission to try to snag a reservation which was not an easy task. After a two year wait, my reservation date finally arrived last night and this place was just as good as I remembered it to be. This place is just so unique, located on a regular residential street in a regular home in JC. If you go around Christmas (which is what we did) the house is decorated beautifully for the Holiday and it is just like going to a family members home for a nostalgic home cooked Italian meal. It is BYOB and portion food they bring out one at a time are small but do not be alarmed, you will leave this place feeling absolutely stuffed to the max because you will have about 16 different small plates of food! Everything was delicious but my favorite had to be the polenta. The service matched the warmth of the house. The entire staff is extremely kind and happy to serve. I am thrilled I got to come here again and I am already and looking to make my next reservation with a big group of my friends. I had heard about this place for years. went with a table of 8. There's one seafood dish and it's an appetizer. All the other offerings were what I'd call cheap food, mashed potatoes, peppers, salad, pasta, meatballs, eggplant...Yes the food is plentiful and you leave stuffed to the brim. However, the main course is chicken and for $125 plus tax and gratuity, It's just not worth it. After nearly 11 months of waiting, I finally experienced dinner at 15 Fox. I reached out in September 2023 to make a reservation and when I finally connected with them (had to leave a message on their machine), they were scheduling for July 2024. I decided to book a reservation for my birthday in August. Dinner here was truly a unique experience. It reminded me of being at my Italian grandparents home with the old furniture, carpeting, wall paper, bathroom tiling, etc and all of the various framed photos and knickknacks around the house. The servers were friendly and treated you like family. My fiancé and I were seated on the main floor in a small room that had two tables of two. There were different rooms with varying table sizes throughout the house, accommodating various party sizes. As soon as we sat down just before 7 pm (I think we were the last group to arrive), the courses started flowing. The courses varied from tasting sizes to smaller, shareable portions. Some of the dishes were awesome and really stood out - the lemon pasta, the meatballs, the manicotti, the warm cookie/ cake w/ homemade ice cream - while others were average. They offer to go boxes, so you definitely can pace yourself and bring home any food you can't finish. At one point, in between appetizers and the salad/main course, they told us to take a break and explore the house and outside garden while they prepared for the main course. With dessert, they offered espresso and coffee/tea and passed around homemade limoncello shots! The shot was good and strong! We ended up nearly finishing 2 bottles of wine during the course of the meal (it's BYO). We were beyond stuffed by the time we called our Lyft home. Since there is very limited street parking by the restaurant as it's in a residential area, definitely use ride shares depending on where you are coming from. Our group of eight visited 15 Fox Place on September 19th. The place is adorable and it's definitely an experience. We had a wonderful night but unfortunately most of us ended up getting very sick after dinner. Two members of our party are vegetarian and did not eat any meat, while the remaining six of us unfortunately became very sick afterward with what appeared to be food poisoning. Two members of our party actually got violently sick on the drive home. When we contacted the owner Mark, we were assured that this had never happened before and were told it might have been due to it being "a lot of food in 2.5 hours plus food and alcohol." For context we are from a large Italian family and very used to eating in this fashion. Though we were also told a refund would be issued. Despite reaching out twice since then, we never received the promised refund, and my last message was ignored. I understand that things like this could happen, but when you've been on a wait list for 8 months waiting for a reservation, you expect some kind of answer, not for it to be passed off as eating too much and for the restaurant to actually follow through when a refund is promised especially at the price tag this place comes with ($115 per person, BYO, soft drinks included). read more

Half way through the meal, you're encouraged to check out the house and back yard, we were SO impressed that all this food was being pumped out by a typical house kitchen. We were convinced there was an industrial kitchen in the basement. Parking wasn't bad for us, but I do see how it can be tough depending on the day. It is pricey, So be prepared. Not sure it was worth the money, especially since when we took a break from eating to look at their garden their recycle bin was filled with numerous jars of Rao's pasta sauce!!!! lol....Can you believe it not even homemade marinara sauce ????they're making you dishes from jarred sauce. I do have to say the atmosphere is so nice and the waitresses were just OK.... The food on the other hand was delicious !!!! I liked how we got to sample each and every food and that it came in little plates so my review of 4 stars is for the food and the small plates the waitresses could of been a little more upbeat and I think 5 years was a long time got spring but food was a 10..... we will be back in the summer to enjoy outside dining if we can get in that is lol!!! 15 Fox Place has been on my Jersey City bucket list for quite some time. While there are plenty of quality Italian restaurants spread throughout JC and Hoboken, 15 Fox Place has a unique dining experience that you can't find anywhere else. This is because you are actually dining inside of someone's home. The setting is homey, quaint and adorable. I love the fact that this restaurant has been family owned and operated in JC for years. I love the fact that there are photos of the family covering the walls, and that you get a personal greeting and introduction about the restaurant from the owners. There are lots of other redeeming qualities about 15 Fox Place. If you have a large dinner party you also can reserve your own dining room. We had a party of 8 and it was sweet to have our own space. You can also bring in as much wine as you want, which of course makes for a super fun experience. When it comes to ambiance, hospitality and service 15 Fox Place receives high marks. Unfortunately, 15 Fox Place falls very short in the food department. Arguably the most important reason why one goes to a restaurant. This meal is 100 dollars per person and in my opinion the biggest rip off in Jersey City. Yes the dinner is long and has several courses, but let me elaborate on why this was a problem: -The meal has hardly any meat or cheese. There are several appetizer courses, but they are all cheap and small. Olive topped cracker, sesame breadstick with a garlic clove, potato chips with peppers, a piece of pizza (aka a small hard piece of dough with some sauce on it).... even the stuffed peppers weren't stuffed with meat or cheese, they were basically just filled with breadcrumbs. -There also isn't much seafood, and the seafood course that we did receive (garlic shrimp and stuffed mussels) were not enjoyable. We all felt that the shrimp was really soft (creepy) and those who tried the mussels said they were very fishy -Honorable mention for the eggplant, polenta and salad in a bread bowl. Those were the highlights of the meal, for me at least. -The pasta course was one very small piece of mushy manicotti with some spaghetti. The spaghetti limone was actually creamy and delicious but the bowl for 8 of us was so tiny. -The entree was probably the biggest let down. This is where your money should really take you far (aka would have been nice to see some seafood, steak or veal). Instead we received small dried pieces of rolled chicken with mashed potatoes and squash. This felt more like a lackluster Thanksgiving meal than a 100$ Italian supper. -Dessert was plentiful, but again, it's frustrating to see them go all out on parts of the meal that aren't nearly as expensive to produce. This especially all feels like a rip off when you remember the fact that wine isn't even included. I was debating between 2 and 3 stars, but I decided to go 2 when revisiting what we got for our money. BUT... The experience is still very cool, and our group had a great time guzzling wine and laughing in our own dining room. I'll leave you with this sentiment: Am I glad that I went? This place exceeds any expectations. The atmosphere is so homey and warm and welcoming. It's perfect for a date or for a special celebration. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We had a few people with dietary restrictions and they were able to accommodate. My advice when coming here is to come hungry and don't eat too much of one thing. You will love everything and want to have multiple servings of everything. But if you do that, it's hard to make it to the end. Pace, not a race. Now the food. Wow. Wow. Wow. The first course could have been a perfect meal on its own. The stuffed peppers, the roasted garlic, the eggplant parm...it was all to die for. Nothing was bland. Everything was fresh, served warm, and got better with each bite. There were so many dishes that I will just highlight a few. The manicotti was perfection. The pasta was so light and delicate that it was like eating a cloud filled with ricotta. The lemon pasta was outstanding but my one criticism is that it could have used just a touch of salt via some more Parmesan cheese. The shrimp dish was perfectly cooked and the salad served in the bread bowl was incredible. The tomatoes were so fresh and the dressing was light and flavorful. The polenta. Holy cow. It was so buttery and creamy and the Arrabiata sauce had just a touch of spice to it. And last highlight was the butternut squash. It was sweet and tender and made my husband who doesn't like vegetables a butternut squash fan. Save room for the dessert, especially the cannoli filled pastry with fig. I don't know what the hype is all about. When we first arrived, we found a parking spot right outside. The street outside is filled with garbage. I had to step over someone's used BBQ charcoal. There were liquor bottles, plates, forks all littered right outside the front door. The outside of the house looks dumpy as well. Walking through the door, I was pleasantly surprised. It really looked just like my grandmothers. I loved how all the rooms had different tables. We sat upstairs in our own room right near the kitchen. It was quaint and comfortable. The first course was an olive salad on tiny little crackers. One per person. It was good. The second was pizza fritta. The sauce on the sweet dough was good. Two per person. Third was fried stuffed peppers. They were ok. The stuffing was good. I would say two per person. Next was long hots. I didn't have any but heard they were good. One per person. Up next was fried eggplant. Not good. It was small and one per person. Lemon pasta was served. I absolutely love pasta limone. This didn't cut it. Was way too cheesy with a splash of lemon zest. I thought the Serving side was good, but maybe that's bc I couldn't finish it due to the taste. Manicotti next. One per person and small as well. Not good. It was like eating mush. The sauce had a nice taste tho. Then there was mussels and shrimp in some kind of breadcrumbs. There seemed to be enough for the table. I skipped this. Polenta came which was tasty. Dinner course was chicken wrapped in some kind of stuffing again with mashed potatoes and butternut squash. The butternut squash was really good if you like candied things. Great taste. The mashed potatoes were definitely instant. They weren't think and fluffy, more like thin and runny. The chicken was ok, not great. There was an ok amount. Dessert came. Chocolate cake w ice cream. This was good. Lemon cookies, tasted like play doh. Biscotti, ok. The coffee was horrendous. I've had better day-old gas station coffee. They also gave us limoncello which tasted like straight rubbing alcohol. This cost me $140 PER PERSON!!!! This price doesn't even include alcohol as it is BYOB. There is no way this is worth that much money. A total ripoff. Save your money and go eat at a real Italian restaurant. read more

For any dining experience it is important to consider the food, the service and the ambiance. The service is good and servers are friendly. The ambiance is unique as it is a home in a neighborhood. Also, it is a local business. Those two alone do not justify the price. The food - don't be fooled. The polenta was good and the lemon pasta was good (all two bites you get served). The rest of the food was meh. The "pizza" tasted like an after school snack I made in the toaster oven when I was 12. The portions are ridiculously small, carb filled and spread out. This way you get the illusion you ate a lot and get full. Also, there is this big build up to the final dish which you think will be big. It's not and it's chicken. Seriously for $100/person, the big final dish is salty chicken. The desserts are accompanied with Folgers (or similar quality average coffee) and limoncello (tasted like straight vodka dyed yellow), just left a poor taste in my mouth. Based on previous reviews, it seems like their menu has hardly changed. Stop hyping this place up. Somehow they are booked out until February 2024. If anyone tells you this is the best meal they ever ate, they need their head examined. Bottom line: don't waste your money or the effort it takes to get a reservation here. Very charming with each room offering a different vibe. The staff is unbelievably friendly and obviously very proud and enthusiastic about what they've created there. - 4 stars for the food itself. Pretty typical Italian dishes. Nothing bad by any means just nothing overly stellar either. Not sure how often they change up the menu but the dishes we had were in line with every other review. - 3 stars for the overall value. $115 all in is incredibly pricey for what you get. Yes there is a ton of food, but given you are literally in someone's house and it's not a typical dining experience, you would think you'd get a discount on the price versus paying a premium. So net, it was a memorable experience and thoroughly enjoyed. Dining at 15 Fox Place is one unique experience. When arriving at your destination, don't be confused or alarmed.. it might seem like you're about to have dinner at someone's home.. and that's because you are ! Every plate that you are served is home made.. which makes you appreciate everything a little more! There are a lot of different plates brought out to you (it's family style.. so everything is shared) but they are all very small portions.. I did end up extremely full by the end of the night, but I feel like that was more because of how long it took to get all of the food rather than because of the amount of food given. There is also a small intermission in the middle of your dining experience so that you can walk around the house (which is super cute btw) and explore. Do I regret the experience at 15 Fox Place? Absolutely not. But if I'm being completely honest, I probably would not return. It was definitely different, but the price is a bit too expensive for me. ($100pp) I understand the fact that you're also paying for "the experience" but I think $50pp would be much more reasonable. Such a fun and delicious dining experience. Went as a party of 2 and ate indoors in May 2021. Surprising there are such mixed reviews on volume and quality of food because we had absolutely no issue. Every course was absolutely delicious, food was plentiful with generous servings/courses, and the experience was well worth the price tag. Nice plus it's BYOB too! Really amazing service and homey/comforting atmosphere. You're allowed to look at other rooms and wall decor, go outside, upstairs/downsairs during a break between courses which was a nice tough too. some of my favorite dishes were the polenta, stuffed clams, and peppers (chips/hot peppers as well as the stuffed ones). It was a unique place in a Residential area. Literally walking into a house like you're going to grandmas. For 90$ a head though, not worth it. The food was just ok, and the portions are reallllly small. They send out little pizzettes that taste like Elios frozen pizza, everything is like take a teaspoon scoop and pass it along. For the price I won't be back. If it were like $45 a head ok maybe. That's probably still more than what it's worth. It's basically stretching the meals out so you literally Get one bite. Food wasn't hot, food wasn't very tasty, and some of it was soooo over cooked. Baby eggplant roll the size of a pinky finger it was BLACK! So burnt and crunchy it had no taste but burnt. Food quantity is out of this world and the quality is fairly consistent at an upper tier level. We didn't love every dish that came out, which is inevitable when you're serving like 20 different plates. But, you can tell that everything is made with love, and there were definitely standouts during the night, such as the polenta, zucchini, lemon pasta, chicken, and tiramisu. One of the more unique dining experience you will have. You are literally eating in an old house and it is awesome. It is a family run place and they even let you get up and explore the house at one point in the meal. We sat in a small corner of the place and the charm is next level here. The food comes out quickly with all sorts of items. I couldn't possibly remember them all but you won't leave hungry. Whoever said they don't get enough food for $100 fee must have came in a big group or something. It is byob which makes it even better. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed it.
