We had heard so many good things about Razza that we took the drive from NY, but it sort of missed the mark for us in terms of service. The server we had, along with the runners we had, were all quite lackluster and seemed to just want to turn the table quickly. For a place with so much buzz and good pizza to back it up, one would think that the servers would be more excited or happier to work there. Foodwise, the pizza is good - they really deliver on the quality of the ingredients. Excited to try a new restaurant, my party of two ordered 3 pies (their pies are slightly larger than personal pies and eats light). The dough to the pizza is top notch. The pizza is thin but has a good chew to it and I appreciated that the roll of the dough is slightly different depending on what toppings they're holding. For example, the burrata (which was more like stracietella and not burrata) was thinner than the funghi that had heavier toppings. The flavor of the pizzas were well balanced. The shaved onions on the Funghi and Santo pie gave the flavors a lot more depth than other mushroom and sausage pies at other pizzerias. The pies itself ate light and were fluffy with a slight chew, which we really liked. I also like that the dough was seasoned and flavorful. The salad was disappointing though. The $18 kale Caesar was not only bland but the kale was rough and tough. It needed some more massaging to tenderize the leaves. While it was dusted with a good amount of parm, you couldn't really taste anything as it lacked salt and acid. The meatballs were ok. They had good flavor and were tender; perhaps a little too tender? The sauce was excellent but the meatball itself was missing just a little texture. All in all, Razza is a solid 3.5 - I prefer better service from restaurants that charge $25+ for personal size pizzas. Should I be in the neighborhood, we may give it another go, but there are certainly places with the same or better quality of pizza and better service through the other side of the tunnel. read more

Loved being able to make an online reservation in advance. Definitely glad we did since it was pretty busy for a Saturday. Give yourself time to find street parking, otherwise there's a parking lot within walking distance. Another great perk about Razza is being able to utilize my Chase dining credit. The tables are very intimately organized. Service was attentive. The pizza was super fresh and we enjoyed the pies we shared. The real star of the show were the meatballs. We had not made reservations in advance, so we purchase pizzas and eight in the seating available in front of the restaurant. It was nice to have this options since we had wanted to try this pizzeria. The service was pretty prompt considering they were very busy and we ordered 'to go' food. But I would have to say that the visit was completely worth it because the pizzas were delicious. Most amazing of all is the hazelnut with ricotta cheese with honey pizza. I like hazelnuts, but I'm not sure I would have ordered this one. Somebody else in my group ordered it and we had to order two more because it was so good. I love bread, and this is an excellent place for people who love bread. The pizza was delicious, too, but I keep on finding myself thinking back to the bread. I stopped by in a group of 3 for dinner and we decided to start the meal with their bread and butter tasting ($18). If you love butter, this is totally worth it! You get to try two varieties of their baked in-house breads and the cultured butters they serve are really fun to try. I appreciated that the butter servings were big enough that I could slather a generous layer of the butter onto each piece of bread. My only regret was not ordering more bread. Another pleasant surprise was their salad! I'm usually not one to order salads at restaurants (I could just make it at home!) but I was pleasantly surprised by the salad they had that day. My friend mentioned I should try Razza out since I love pizza. I had this place bookmarked for some time and finally was able to stop by. Made reservations via Resy. There are two entrances, facing the building, the door on the left is the entrance to restaurant and the right is entrance for pickup (I went to the door on the right.. that's how I know). Place is dim but not too dark. Ate at the bar and it was nice. Ended up getting the Pepperoni ($28) and Burrata ($26) pizza. The pizza is Neapolitan-style. Both pies were solid especially the burrata, it was really interesting bc it didn't have a cheese pull but it was burrata cheesy. The dough was good and chewy. I obviously had a Coca Cola ($3) to wash down the pizza. Razza has serving pizza down to a science and their expanded interior really allows for a more enjoyable experience that doesn't feel as tight and cramped as other pizza spots in NYC. We went with all-classics for our trip here including the Kale Salad, Meatballs (with Ricotta) and a FUNGHI + SANTO pizza. To me, the meatballs were the star of the show. Rich, flavorful and a generous portion of ricotta surrounding a handful of delicious balls of meat. It felt perfectly seasoned and flavorful without being overly heavy or meaty. Our server recommended keeping the sauce in case we wanted to dunk any of our pizza crusts. That was a great idea, though his suggestion for a FUNGHI pizza fell a bit short. I've heard great things about it online so was a bit disappointed that it felt a bit bland and the lack of proper red sauce made it less attractive compared to the meat-forward Santo. Still, based on the number of reviews raving about the FUNGHI maybe it's just me and I think if you have enough people to split a few pies it's worth trying and seeing for yourself. Finally, I also liked how there were separate entrances and exits for pick-up / delivery orders that was separate from the main dining area so the space didn't feel crowded by Uber Eats and people waiting for pick-up. The pizza is basically "Good" for some table pizzas. The funghi could use a Bit of curing beforehand or at least a finishing salt at the end. The calabrese pizza had literally a few chopped Calabrian chilies and a drizzle of oil. The actual disappointment that made me write this review was the "Panna cota". Might as well call that thing panna pudding. There was no gelatin for it to stand on its own, it was served in a tiny ash tray full of vanilla pudding with maybe a quarter inch of caramel on top. I got the hint when the waitress told me her favorite dessert almost as if she wanted me to avoid the others but I didn't listen. Good for someone in their 20s looking to chill. read more

Honestly, the experience is hard to describe in one word. The pizza itself was seasoned well. The Margherita and mushroom pies had nicely balanced tomato sauce and good cheese flavor, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. However, the crust was burnt enough to affect the whole meal. The first slices were fine, but by the end it felt like chewing on charcoal. The smoky aftertaste stayed in my throat. The grapefruit cocktail didn't taste like grapefruit at all -- more like artificial lychee syrup. I took one sip and left it. Seating was also disappointing. It felt like they expanded into a neighboring café space without updating it. The lighting wasn't harsh, just very plain and flat, and the decor didn't match the main restaurant. The whole area felt unfinished and lacking atmosphere. The meatballs were just okay -- very standard, nothing memorable. We started with the bread and butter and the meatballs with ricotta. The bread and butter was very fresh but not sure if it needs to be a menu item at $10. For pizzas, 4 of us shared the yellow margherita, calabrese, and burrata. They were all outstanding. The yellow margherita was unexpectedly my favorite. This place has been in my wishlist and finally the long awaited meal at Razza happened . Phillipe was our sever and he was great with suggestions. Overall ambience was cozy date night like vibe . Service was quick and friendly. Parking can be challenging . The Razza classics were our picks for the evening . Bread with grass fed butter Tuscan kale salad with Parmesan . Both didn't disappoint. Salad was crunchy creamy and addictive . Sourdough was chewy , tangy and the butter fresh and savory . Immediately after , we took a plunge into the Pizza arena and ordered the Margherita and Fungi . Both were thin wood fired crust which made it lighter to enjoy. Margherita had a good balance of cheese and tomato sauce topped with basil and olive oil and notably good . The Fungii was equally delicious with the chewy bite of the mushrooms and gooey cheese .Loved every bite of both pizzas. Pizza worth indulging in. Ended the meal on a sweet note with the olive oil cake which was one of the moist and mildly sweet cakes that I have ever eaten. It had some fresh fruit in it and the whipped cream for some extra richness Took the Tiramisu to go and tried it the next day and I couldn't drop my spoon down. Came here with high hopes as I've seen Razza written up so many times for their pizza. And don't get me wrong, the pizza is good. But if you live anywhere in the five boroughs, there's probably comparable (or even better) pizza in your own backyard. I had planned to come here right when they opened at 3 pm, but traffic thwarted those plans. Still, they were able to accommodate us, we just had to be out in an hour (which was more than doable). I kicked things off with a Hugo Spritz which was sweeter than others I've had. The homemade bread and butter was as good as everyone says it is and honestly my favorite thing that we ordered here. Don't skip it! For pizzas, we went with the seasonal corn pizza and the Di Natale. Both were good - the corn was very fresh and added a nice touch to the white pie, and the Di Natale was definitely inventive in flavors. The crust fell flat for me though. It was dry and didn't have much flavor. TBH, I've had better pizzas with less fanfare down the street at Porta. If you're in the area and can get a seat I would say this place is worth trying, but I don't think I'll trek here from Queens again if I'm not already in the area. read more

We ordered kale salad, and garbanzo beans to start and meatballs then a margherita pizza.... everything was delicious and fresh. The quality was def there! My only complaint is the tight spaces , you're all up in each others spaces but it's not all bad. But, while it sets the standard for the technically best pie you can have - it doesn't provide uniqueness from the flavor category. For that I think this is more of a standard bearer and not a true outlier of excellence. This is really good, but the pizza while technically perfect, doesn't feel loving. Yellow Margherita (yellow tomato sauce, which surprisingly makes it taste very different from the red version--but just as good) 3. One with hazelnuts (I can't remember the name, but it ended up being my favorite) Honestly, after this meal, I didn't feel the need to try much pizza elsewhere in NYC--I can pretty much guarantee it wouldn't top this. This is easily a six-star place. The staff was friendly and patient, even when one of us (cough, cough) spilled a drink. Hanging out in Jersey City, we ordered several pizzas for take out. This is Neapolitan Pizza. The crust is super thin with a thick, hard crust. The cheese/toppings were thin as well. I would have preferred a healthier layer of all the toppings on all the pies. Each pie has 6 slices. The cost per pie is expensive. So.....for me, the NATALE (olive pie) is the standout. The olives make the pizza's flavor truly kick in with its salty olives and cheese. Next up, the CALABRESE (spicy) was nicely spicy and combined well with the cheese. The Margarita pie was tasty. The Tomato Pie, different from the tomato pies in Philly, needs more sauce. The BOSCO (mushroom) pie was our least favorite. Now, the potato pie pizza with potato slices, was the groups favorite. It tastes like a potato pierogi. This seems to be a pizza that is not always available and the group felt they would like to see this as a permanent staple. The pizza is not what you'd expect from a traditional pizzeria. It's definitely filling and before you know it you've consumed lots and lots of slices.
