Blue Eyes is located in Sinatra Park right by the water, directly across from the majestic NYC skyline. It's stunning! The place has changed management through the years and some older reviews might not reflect what now exists there...so I'll tell all. It's all one level of dining rooms. There's an indoor room with a bar area and a view of the wood burning pizza oven. Some tables in there will also give you a view of the outside, but you'll be looking through the outer dining area (so it's not a perfect view). The outer seating area wraps around 3 sides of the building and offers all great views of the city. The outer area is enclosed, but it looks like they have the capability of opening up the windows on a nice day. It's also very casual here. With a view like this, you might expect overpriced, mediocre food. That was not the case for our visit. I was impressed with the quality of everything we ate. And service was good too. Margherita pizza to share as a starter had a nice char on the outside, light crust and tasty middle. Linguini with clams surprised me. Tasty broth for the white sauce, and not all buttery. It contained Manila clams, but they were plump and yummy! Great dish and a huge portion of pasta...which I still ate. The porcini mushroom pasta had beautiful truffle flavors, which my daughter loved because it reminded her of a dish she just had in Italy a few months ago. Vodka sauce and Bolognese were also both OK. Not the best or even close to homemade, but definitely good, and both were finished. We had some tiramisu for dessert and that was also good. Not overly sweet. Everything was enjoyed with a half carafe of red wine at a reasonable price. Overall, great meal and we'd return again. We'll have to try their gelato next time! read more

Great pizza, great atmosphere, and an unbeatable waterfront location! Had such a nice evening at Blue Eyes on Sinatra Drive in Hoboken with a large group of 40 Italian tourists. We had a mix of pizza and pasta at the table, and everyone was very pleased. My friend and I had personal pizzas -- I ordered the white pizza with broccoli rabe and sausage, while my friend had the Margherita. Both were delicious. The pizza has that authentic Neapolitan-style feel -- thin, flavorful crust with a beautiful slight char around the edges, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of chew. The atmosphere is really lovely too. High ceilings, rustic light fixtures, a warm and lively vibe, and of course, being right on the Hoboken waterfront makes it an especially enjoyable place to spend an evening. There was a great energy in the restaurant, and it was fun being there with such a big group. The staff was very welcoming and they all worked very hard to make sure all guests were happy. It was a busy night for them- but they handled it all beautifully! The fact that our Italian guests were happy with both the pizza and pasta definitely says something! I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was too disappointing not to share. From the moment we arrived, the service was poor. We waited an unreasonable amount of time we had a reservation before anyone acknowledged us, and once we were seated, it took far too long for someone to take our drink and food order.They never brought out some of the drinks. Throughout the meal, our server was inattentive and seemed more focused on other things than on the customers. We had to wait to ask for simple items, and no one checked on us to see if we needed refills or if our food was prepared correctly. It felt like we were being ignored. The waitress they switched us too was extremely rude and unprofessional. The lack of communication made the experience even more frustrating. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like an inconvenience. Good customer service is about making guests feel valued, and unfortunately that was completely missing during our visit. A pleasant dining experience depends not only on the quality of the food but also on the quality of the service. Even if the food is good, poor service can ruin the entire experience. I hope management addresses these issues by improving staff attentiveness, communication, and overall customer care because, based on this visit, I would be hesitant to return or recommend this restaurant to others. read more

Our cousins from Italy came to attend Hoboken's annual Italian Festival honoring their home town of Molfetta. While we were disappointed with the food selection at the festival fortunately we had reservations at Ole Blue Eyes. The restaurant was quite busy but we were seated immediately. Service was attentive & we immediately were served crusty warm bread with sun dried tomato oil (which we asked for more) We shared the Frittura & Zucchini Flower appetizer which was delicious & enough for the 4 of us. The cousins had a Special of pasta with a zucchini cream sauce which they loved. My fiancé and I chose to dine here for lunch after it was recommended by our Airbnb hosts, and we're so glad we did. Since we had a full day of exploring ahead, we decided to eat something light and started with the insalata di mare--and wow, it was AMAZING. So fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Coming from Texas, we wanted to try something we don't normally eat, and this dish did not disappoint. After spending the afternoon walking along the waterfront and exploring Washington Street, we were deciding where to go for dinner and knew immediately that we had to come back to Blue Eyes. This time we sat at the bar and were waited on by Stefany, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had great conversation with her and the owner, who is such a kind and genuine man. He shared his background, his personal favorites from the menu, and even recommended other great food spots in the area--such a thoughtful touch. For dinner, we ordered the petto di pollo parmigiana, and it was truly to die for. From the perfectly breaded chicken to the rich red sauce on the pasta, it was a solid 10/10. We will be recommending Blue Eyes to anyone we meet who's coming to New Jersey. The food was great. Service was very good and the atmosphere and location is awesome. Very big problem though. They only have ONE restroom. Huge line when we went to use it. When we were about second in line, a waitress mentioned there were public restrooms just outside the restaurant. Just as I was walking up they locked up the public restrooms for the night (8:00 pm). Meanwhile, there were tons of people in the park area. Not sure where they are supposed to go if they need a restroom. So back to the restaurant we go and stand in a huge line AGAIN. I stopped by blue eyes for a late lunch on Saturday. Though the restaurant has a nice view, I would be very hard pressed to say that it's worth a visit because of the cost. You're really paying Manhattan prices here and getting products that don't match the quality. I tried the buratta with prosciutto and one of the pizzas. The buratta was nothing special -- it was served as an unseasoned hunk on top of a bed of prosciutto. While I wanted to like this dish, it ultimately was too bland to be worth the ~20 dollar price tag (no seasoning or anything). The pizza (diavolo) was also nothing extraordinary. It was an alright pie, if a bit charred. In NY/NJ, though, there are definitely better options. Likely would not come back. read more

I came here during weekday lunch. I was greeted right away and asked to choose a preferred seat. I chose a table on the enclosed patio. It wasn't crowded at all but not surprising during the winter. The view is beautiful but the music is extremely loud. Very difficult to hold a conversation. If the tables were full then it would be unbearable. Unfortunately, after being seated we were told they were not serving pizza. That's one of the reasons we chose the place. The vegetarian in our group had very limited options without the pizza. I ordered the My Way salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I don't mind the $14 add on price for the salmon because it was a nice portion. I don't understand the $14 charge for the salad itself which is just lettuce, a couple small tomatoes, and red onion. It was a small portion so it would be disappointing without adding a protein. For $28, I'd just get an entree next time. The service wasn't bad but they seemed very quick and abrupt. I wasn't sold on the atmosphere. We ended up ordering dessert first just to have something to eat while waiting. The most serious issue: one of my friends is celiac and clearly requested a gluten-free dish. Halfway through eating, she started feeling unwell and asked again--only to be told they weren't sure if her meal was actually gluten-free. They removed the dish, but the harm was already done. They didn't charge us for her plate or the desserts and asked us not to say anything. But this needs to be said. They have a brick oven where the pizzas come out nice and hot. We ordered Margarita and capricciosa. I'd order the capricciosa - it comes with two types of meat, mushrooms, olives, and artichokes - so good. The appetizers of frittura and burrata con prosciutto could have been done without - it wasn't mind-blowing and quantity was average, but taste still was good as expected. The pasta was average. I have lived in Hoboken for many years and have not been here due to me not hearing fantastic things about it. I finally decided to take my family there yesterday and it lived up to its reputation - you go for the view and not the food. The service was not the best - we had about 3-4 different waiters/waitresses throughout the course of the meal and it came off very disorganized. The bread was not the best (this is Hoboken, there is no excuse to not have great bread at any Italian restaurant). As for drinks, they only serve wine and beer, and their selection is quite small. For an entree I had the chicken parm, which was cooked with absolutely no love. You can tell the cutlet is deep fried and not pan fried in olive oil. The sauce was very odd, it was a pink sauce and in my opinion I believe chicken parm is best served with marinara sauce. The "side" of pasta it came with was about 20 penne noodles. For the price you pay, you should absolutely be getting more food. After all was said and done, I now know I have not missed out on anything special by waiting this long to check out Blue Eyes and will not be returning. read more

I went to Blue Eyes for Valentine's Day Dinner and was terribly disappointed. The ambiance was wonderful, as they had us seated right next to the window with a great view of the skyline. We were not informed in any way ahead of time, but they were doing a limited menu for Valentine's day. This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that there were almost zero vegetarian entree options. When we asked the waitress if there was anything else available, she pointed out all of the items on the menu that had seafood (not helpful). We debated leaving at that point, but decided to stick it out. We ordered a pear salad and a margarita pizza. The salad was terribly underwhelming. The pizza was good, but not worth the price we paid for it. After we finished our food, we waited for over an hour for someone to come clear our plates and get us the check. Nobody ever came. In fact, with the exception of someone taking our order, we did not have anyone come and check on us once during the whole meal, not even to fill our water glasses. We ended up going up to the front to ask our bill to be paid, and they took forever to do that too, to the point where we got fed up and went back up to the front to wait for it there. We were planning to order dessert there, but couldn't stand to wait any longer. And, to be clear, it was not very busy in their either. We began our meal in their covered patio, but once the food came, we had to request to move inside because there was a bee that refused to leave us alone and started to crawl on the pizza. Luckily they were able to accommodate us, though I did get the vibe they weren't thrilled about it... The food was all good, nothing totally blew us away but nothing was bad either. Easily the best dining experience we had during our stay. If not for time constraints we would have returned. As soon as we walked up, staff were right there. Not just one or two but 4 employees were right there to seat us. A fabulous table overlooking the water and walkway was where we requested to sit and a table was immediately sanitized. Between our Veganized Arugula Salad, Burrata and the seasony Calamari & Shrimp Frittura, the first two, were fire. Our dinner options included a mushy and tasteless Eggplant Parm, Sautéed vegetables that could've easily been sautéed together- but instead were plated individually, a weak chicken Parm, a Neapolitan Margherita Pie with a nice looking crust and another for my mom with "prosciutto"- that turned out to be pepperoni. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Point goes for their simple, non-seasony tomato sauce. Andrea held her head high up and didn't lose focus. However, the other servers were sloppy when one of them cleared our table and dropped tomato sauce on the floor then took forever to clean up his mess. Visiting New York and the Statue of Liberty, our friends told us about this place across the Hudson that had a great view of New York at night. We asked for a table which had a window without the draft and were accommodated soon enough..... still couldn't enjoy the view as the "window" was the same cloudy, scratched up plastic without the masking tape this time. May be they were under renovation. As an appetizer, the roasted octopus was cold and slimy. It looked hardly cooked and we returned it as we didn't want to risk food poisoning during our vacation (or at any time!!). Going to a good Italian restaurant for the first time, my measure of how good they would be is their Risotto quattro formaggi. No risotto on the menu.... but I saw another one of my favorite dishes - cacio e pepe. It's difficult to get it perfect, but I wasn't expecting a tasteless soupy mess. Yuck! Took a couple of mouthfuls as I was starving, but I couldn't stomach much more than that. My two friends ordered a salad and a pizza between them. The location is great because it's on the water and there's a nice view of New York City, but the menu is very limited and I guess they're famous for their woodfired pizza but it was just average nothing great. There was also only one single bathroom and it is an older building so not that impressive. read more

My friend and I went to Blue Eyes for dinner this past Thursday - we wanted to hear the Beatles cover band that was playing that night as a part of the free Hoboken concert series so we got there a little after 6:30 pm to make sure we could get a table outside. We had no issues securing a table for two in their uncovered outdoor patio area; it seems like there were open tables throughout the musical performance so no need to get there too early. There were a lot of servers working the outdoor area and they were all very friendly. They immediately brought out complimentary bread with a bruschetta like sauce that was tasty. We decided to share a red & a white pie - a standard margherita and the Tartufata which had truffle oil, prosciutto, and mushrooms. The pizzas were average; I enjoyed the white pie more. While the margherita was good, I wish the dough was more crispy. I liked that the servers didn't rush us to order or to leave. It seems like you might need to specifically ask for/order the 'Pizza Pala' deal which is any two pies for $35 since they didn't ring up our bill that way even though we ordered two pies. It was only a $1 difference so we just left it as is. I don't know that I will be rushing back to eat at Blues Eye again, but it was perfect for us since we wanted drinks & a bite while we listened to the free concert. read more

Really enjoyed an impromptu brunch at Blue Eyes. I have no idea why we haven't tried it before. I wasn't that hungry but wanted to sit down and enjoy the weather and needed an outdoor area because we were on a walk with the dog. They were very accommodating for our large pup in narrow outdoor area. We had mango nectar mimosas (they made it with less juice to make it less sweet for me) and shared the burrata. I had the pear and walnut salad and my husband has the shrimp linguine. Everything was good. The best part is the view. Will definitely be back for it. read more

Came here for a team dinner and the wait staff was great! Very attentive and kept the drinks and appetizers coming! We also received our dinner in a reasonable time (keep in mind there were 40+ of us) so bravo to the team again. Great entre and appetizers! My favs were the mozzarella and tomato salad and calamari. I tried the Marg pizza, but it wasn't anything special. The Dijon salmon was good, but slightly over cooked for my liking. I requested medium and it was well done. Not a huge deal in my opinion. My only complaint was that it got very hot in the restaurant. Maybe just because of so many people and a pizza oven operating next to us, the restaurant started to boil us all. read more

If you haven't tried this restaurant, you must certainly add it to your list! Besides the gorgeous views of the NYC skyline, the food was impeccable. It's not your run-of-the-mill Italian restaurant; the dishes are crafted with care and creativity, and the presentation top-notch. In addition, I can appreciate the fine service, which I feel really distinguishes one eatery from the next. Our wait staff knew exactly what we needed before we did! Came for lunch on a Saturday, they don't take reservations so we just walked in and got lucky. They have indoor seating, a covered patio seating, and outdoor seating. We obvi choose outdoor facing the Hudson river views. and best of all...they're DOG FRIENDLY! Only outdoors of course. Prices aren't cheap but they aren't overpriced either. $12 mimosas, $18 pizzas, and $24 pastas are okay for this area and the population it attracts..esp when everything is so delicious. Drinks: Sgroppino mimosa- the menu says "lemon sorbet" but it was barely a hint of lemon to me. more like a lemon essence but still tasted good and did the trick. Blue eyes mimosa- the mango is a tad stronger and definitely a nice orange color but not anything like thick mango juice. also tasted good and got me buzzed. Food: Diavola pizza- the best spicy pizza! the salami, the cheese, the fresh basil...everything was perfect. Reminded me of Italy! Spaghetti Alla Carbonara- ONE WORD: GUANCIALE! Basically thick bacon, pecorino pasta with black pepper. Sounds simple but so delicious. We made this pasta dish at a cooking class in Rome and I dare say this was comparable! Authentic and fresh ingredients. Must try! Only negatives: -- they only have a single bathroom for everyone so expect long lines/waits. -- i wish they provided dog bowls like the other dog friendly eateries in the area. Return?
