I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was too disappointing not to share. From the moment we arrived, the service was poor. We waited an unreasonable amount of time we had a reservation before anyone acknowledged us, and once we were seated, it took far too long for someone to take our drink and food order.They never brought out some of the drinks. Throughout the meal, our server was inattentive and seemed more focused on other things than on the customers. We had to wait to ask for simple items, and no one checked on us to see if we needed refills or if our food was prepared correctly. It felt like we were being ignored. The waitress they switched us too was extremely rude and unprofessional. The lack of communication made the experience even more frustrating. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like an inconvenience. Good customer service is about making guests feel valued, and unfortunately that was completely missing during our visit. A pleasant dining experience depends not only on the quality of the food but also on the quality of the service. Even if the food is good, poor service can ruin the entire experience. The food was great. Service was very good and the atmosphere and location is awesome. Very big problem though. They only have ONE restroom. Huge line when we went to use it. When we were about second in line, a waitress mentioned there were public restrooms just outside the restaurant. Just as I was walking up they locked up the public restrooms for the night (8:00 pm). Meanwhile, there were tons of people in the park area. Not sure where they are supposed to go if they need a restroom. So back to the restaurant we go and stand in a huge line AGAIN. Blue Eyes quickly became one of our favorite dining experiences during our trip to Hoboken. The staff is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. My fiancé and I chose to dine here for lunch after it was recommended by our Airbnb hosts, and we're so glad we did. Since we had a full day of exploring ahead, we decided to eat something light and started with the insalata di mare--and wow, it was AMAZING. So fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Coming from Texas, we wanted to try something we don't normally eat, and this dish did not disappoint. After spending the afternoon walking along the waterfront and exploring Washington Street, we were deciding where to go for dinner and knew immediately that we had to come back to Blue Eyes. This time we sat at the bar and were waited on by Stefany, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had great conversation with her and the owner, who is such a kind and genuine man. He shared his background, his personal favorites from the menu, and even recommended other great food spots in the area--such a thoughtful touch. For dinner, we ordered the petto di pollo parmigiana, and it was truly to die for. From the perfectly breaded chicken to the rich red sauce on the pasta, it was a solid 10/10. We will be recommending Blue Eyes to anyone we meet who's coming to New Jersey. It will definitely be missed when we head back home to Houston--but that just gives us another reason to plan a return trip! read more

I stopped by blue eyes for a late lunch on Saturday. Though the restaurant has a nice view, I would be very hard pressed to say that it's worth a visit because of the cost. You're really paying Manhattan prices here and getting products that don't match the quality. I tried the buratta with prosciutto and one of the pizzas. The buratta was nothing special -- it was served as an unseasoned hunk on top of a bed of prosciutto. While I wanted to like this dish, it ultimately was too bland to be worth the ~20 dollar price tag (no seasoning or anything). The pizza (diavolo) was also nothing extraordinary. I came here during weekday lunch. I was greeted right away and asked to choose a preferred seat. I chose a table on the enclosed patio. It wasn't crowded at all but not surprising during the winter. The view is beautiful but the music is extremely loud. Very difficult to hold a conversation. If the tables were full then it would be unbearable. Unfortunately, after being seated we were told they were not serving pizza. That's one of the reasons we chose the place. The vegetarian in our group had very limited options without the pizza. I ordered the My Way salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I don't mind the $14 add on price for the salmon because it was a nice portion. I don't understand the $14 charge for the salad itself which is just lettuce, a couple small tomatoes, and red onion. It was a small portion so it would be disappointing without adding a protein. We ended up ordering dessert first just to have something to eat while waiting. The most serious issue: one of my friends is celiac and clearly requested a gluten-free dish. Halfway through eating, she started feeling unwell and asked again--only to be told they weren't sure if her meal was actually gluten-free. They removed the dish, but the harm was already done. They didn't charge us for her plate or the desserts and asked us not to say anything. But this needs to be said. They have a brick oven where the pizzas come out nice and hot. We ordered Margarita and capricciosa. I'd order the capricciosa - it comes with two types of meat, mushrooms, olives, and artichokes - so good. I have lived in Hoboken for many years and have not been here due to me not hearing fantastic things about it. I finally decided to take my family there yesterday and it lived up to its reputation - you go for the view and not the food. The service was not the best - we had about 3-4 different waiters/waitresses throughout the course of the meal and it came off very disorganized. The bread was not the best (this is Hoboken, there is no excuse to not have great bread at any Italian restaurant). As for drinks, they only serve wine and beer, and their selection is quite small. For an entree I had the chicken parm, which was cooked with absolutely no love. You can tell the cutlet is deep fried and not pan fried in olive oil. The sauce was very odd, it was a pink sauce and in my opinion I believe chicken parm is best served with marinara sauce. The "side" of pasta it came with was about 20 penne noodles. For the price you pay, you should absolutely be getting more food. After all was said and done, I now know I have not missed out on anything special by waiting this long to check out Blue Eyes and will not be returning. read more

Plus, they had some beautiful heart napkins, red bread, and even a free glass of champagne with strawberries. We were very excited for our meal. We were not informed in any way ahead of time, but they were doing a limited menu for Valentine's day. This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that there were almost zero vegetarian entree options. When we asked the waitress if there was anything else available, she pointed out all of the items on the menu that had seafood (not helpful). We debated leaving at that point, but decided to stick it out. We ordered a pear salad and a margarita pizza. The salad was terribly underwhelming. The pizza was good, but not worth the price we paid for it. After we finished our food, we waited for over an hour for someone to come clear our plates and get us the check. Nobody ever came. In fact, with the exception of someone taking our order, we did not have anyone come and check on us once during the whole meal, not even to fill our water glasses. We ended up going up to the front to ask our bill to be paid, and they took forever to do that too, to the point where we got fed up and went back up to the front to wait for it there. We were planning to order dessert there, but couldn't stand to wait any longer. And, to be clear, it was not very busy in their either. We began our meal in their covered patio, but once the food came, we had to request to move inside because there was a bee that refused to leave us alone and started to crawl on the pizza. Our dinner options included a mushy and tasteless Eggplant Parm, Sautéed vegetables that could've easily been sautéed together- but instead were plated individually, a weak chicken Parm, a Neapolitan Margherita Pie with a nice looking crust and another for my mom with "prosciutto"- that turned out to be pepperoni. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Point goes for their simple, non-seasony tomato sauce. Andrea held her head high up and didn't lose focus. No risotto on the menu.... but I saw another one of my favorite dishes - cacio e pepe. It's difficult to get it perfect, but I wasn't expecting a tasteless soupy mess. Yuck! We also received our dinner in a reasonable time (keep in mind there were 40+ of us) so bravo to the team again. Great entre and appetizers! My favs were the mozzarella and tomato salad and calamari. I tried the Marg pizza, but it wasn't anything special. The Dijon salmon was good, but slightly over cooked for my liking. I requested medium and it was well done. Not a huge deal in my opinion. My friend and I went to Blue Eyes for dinner this past Thursday - we wanted to hear the Beatles cover band that was playing that night as a part of the free Hoboken concert series so we got there a little after 6:30 pm to make sure we could get a table outside. We had no issues securing a table for two in their uncovered outdoor patio area; it seems like there were open tables throughout the musical performance so no need to get there too early. We decided to share a red & a white pie - a standard margherita and the Tartufata which had truffle oil, prosciutto, and mushrooms. The pizzas were average; I enjoyed the white pie more. While the margherita was good, I wish the dough was more crispy. I liked that the servers didn't rush us to order or to leave. It seems like you might need to specifically ask for/order the 'Pizza Pala' deal which is any two pies for $35 since they didn't ring up our bill that way even though we ordered two pies. It was only a $1 difference so we just left it as is. I don't know that I will be rushing back to eat at Blues Eye again, but it was perfect for us since we wanted drinks & a bite while we listened to the free concert. read more

Really enjoyed an impromptu brunch at Blue Eyes. I have no idea why we haven't tried it before. I wasn't that hungry but wanted to sit down and enjoy the weather and needed an outdoor area because we were on a walk with the dog. They were very accommodating for our large pup in narrow outdoor area. We had mango nectar mimosas (they made it with less juice to make it less sweet for me) and shared the burrata. I had the pear and walnut salad and my husband has the shrimp linguine. Everything was good. The best part is the view. Will definitely be back for it. read more

I'm not certain why this place has so few people at lunchtime. Perhaps it's because it's gotten colder and you can't have the windows open as you look at the city. The views are great the service was attentive and we only got salads so I really can't speak deeply to the menu. That said everything in the salad tasted very fresh and it was not overdressed at all. I definitely think it would be worth trying again especially in warmer weather or in the evening to look at the city lights. read more

The waitress was super unfriendly. She spoke abruptly and rudely when ordered our drinks. When I asked for an extra glass, she again had attitude get the glass. When we ask for a wine menu she checked to see if our menu had a copy in the back. Of course the wine list was missing. Never came over to ask if our food is okay. But she asks our next table politely how their food is. The fish is dry like pork chop well done. read more

Consistently solid, always fun, and the only place to meet for a semi-fancy outing with the greatest city view possible.

The food is excellent and you can't beat the view. I was in the area for work for a week and went back for the pizza and the third time tried the salmon. I highly recommend the salmon. I've replicated it a few times since I've been home. And don't forget to grab some cannolis. read more
