I came to the Daisy Cafe with some visiting family and the food was good. We had breakfast and the service was just ok, and let me say the hot chocolate was terrible. What irritated me the most was that I had to pay extra for a substitution of fruit with my breakfast. I am allergic to gluten, so I can't have any wheat products, however this didn't matter, and I had to pay $2 extra. This wouldn't have mattered if I couldn't have gotten a better meal in Fairhaven for half the price and no charge for substitution. I'm being overly nice giving this place a three star rating considering they don't accommodate people with food allergies. Skip this place, and try Skylarks instead. read more

Okay, I have been here a couple times since my last review and I have to say; the service is super prompt, the food is good and they clearly care about good ingredients. The Ole Twosie is my fav! good portion, sweet and savory and one egg. Perfect! Great food if you have time to wait, and the patience to be ignored. But their food is excellent. First time I went we stood there for almost 10 minutes without even a greeting, and it wasn't that busy, several open tables, before finally leaving. However we thought we'd go back and try again after hearing so many great things about the food. This time we were pleasantly greeted and seated within a minute or two and received our food in timely manner. However we sat with closed menus for awhile before our order was taken. The folks next to us came in long after us and had their order taken before us. That being said that food was amazing. But then we sat for 20 minutes with empty plates before our bill was finally given to us, after the people next to us, who weren't even done eating, received their bill. All in all, really good food, but the service is sort of a coin toss. They're nice servers, but somewhat oblivious. read more

Visiting for the week, I stopped in here for a bite. I agree with Sarah F. from 5/1 - potatoes were kinda lame. They were still a bit too firm. Coffee was good and the rest of my dish was alright, but the potatoes, man! That's my biggest disappointment. I hope they do better. I came here for breakfast this morning, with the intentions of curing my New Years Hangover. I ordered the eggs benedict with ham, and was pretty satisfied! The waitress was friendly, and attentive. They had so many delicious sounding items, it was difficult to chose. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they use free range eggs, and fresh local ingredients, which is always deserving of an A in my book. The Daisy Cafe is a good breakfast spot, and it is probably safe to say you will always get a good meal and quick service. I will definitely be returning again. Very small place and even at 1:00 had to wait maybe 15 minutes. Server wasn't the friendliest but the food was good and plentiful. The most amazing, locally sourced breakfast I've had in a LONG time, the only problem was the slow service. I had the smoked salmon omelet which was very tasty, with the rosemary sourdough toast (to die for) and hubby had the Daisy potatoes with fren c h toast. I won't return here...not because of the food- the food that I DID get to eat was pretty good. I was excited to try this place after hearing rave reviews. As soon as we walked in we could tell that our waitress was rushed, but not sure why because we were just about the only ones there besides one other table. She kept returning every minute asking "know what you would like to order yet?" ... Finally on her third return we winged it and ordered due to feeling rushed. As she brings our plates out she tries to put my dish on the table in a hurry - instead she flings the food off of the plate and into my lap and on the floor. Sour cream and salsa got on my phone and stained my pants. Thank god I wasn't returning to work or something after the meal. About 1/3 of the meal remained on the plate. She looked mortified, as did I, and she rushed me some napkins. I ate what was left, expecting she would perhaps bring me another dish to make up for the spilled portion....nope. She even left our bill at full price (?!?!?!). My partner says "I know that was a mistake but I'm not paying for her food that is on the floor." And she responds "you don't have to." ...ok then don't put it on my bill?!? We still tipped. Very awkward, poor customer service, but decent food. Ugh. read more

Such a bad experience this morning... food okay, service crappy. We waited for 45 minutes to get our food while tables all around us were waiting 10 - 15 minutes (she's the one wearing the red baseball cap). None of the service people knew what was going on. Our waitress clueless and vacant. I expect our server to let us know what is happening in a situation like this. I have been to The Daisy a handful of times previously, usually very good. So much depends on the server. I don't care how good the food is, I am very disappointed if I am waiting 45 minutes for breakfast. When we finally did get our meal, the Barkley scramble good, the potatoes awful, not a crispy bit to be found. Also extremely loud. I've been going to the daisy at least twice every month for a few years now. It's one of my favorite breakfast places in bham. It can get pretty busy on the weekends but what do you expect. The food is delicious, the best basic breakfast in town! The Cobb salad is huge and also amazing! I like the service, it's a no fuss place and the servers are true down to earth people. I will assert that this is the best breakfast in Bellingham. I would say I'm a little bit of a breakfast enthusiast and my partner and I can be found at all the breakfast joints in town on a regularly rotated schedule. But The Daisy is an exception. I must have their food at least bi-weekly it is that good. Their cinnamon orange french toast trumps any other I've tried. We order it every time we come in and it is consistently flawless. Our other favorites are their "twin sisters" eggs and their Greek frittata. Both are to die for (as is all their food). I must say that as Daisy regulars, we have never been disappointed by the staff or the food. I guess if you only give the place one chance and go into it with snobbish expectations, you'll find some flaws. But all I can say is that I'm glad we gave it a chance and continue to do so... because DAMN that french toast is amazing. read more

Went for breakfast on a late Sunday morning. The place was busy but we were seated for two in less than five minutes. Got a table in the middle of a small dining room. Coffee and waters were delivered and poured as soon as we sat down, nice. Good variety of choices on the menu. Ordered an omelet, and an eggs, potato's, toast, and sausage breakfast. Two plates came out in about five minutes, which was odd, because those around us who ordered before us hadn't gotten their dishes yet. The plates were wrong, but they remedied the situation rather quickly before we could dig in, no problem, they were slammed. Waited another ten minutes or so and our meals came out. Man they were good, fresh eggs, fresh potato's, fresh toast and sausage and ham, couldn't ask for much more. Prices are fair, and the food is very good. Will be back. read more

AS you walk into this cafe, you are immediately greeted by a sign that the place is "Slow Cooking ... ". Normally, knowing that would have caused me to look elsewhere, but the place always seemed to be busy and this particular day - I had plenty of time, so I decided to try it. It was a nice day so I asked if they made things to go and ordered the "Box Car" - sliced beef on toasted cheese bread - served with thick potato chips and a spear pickle. True to their warning sign, it did seem to take a while for my order, but this first sampling proof worthwhile, the sandwich was a "real" treat and I enjoyed it to the last. So, I went back about a week later, to great disappointment. I ordered the same menu item and was not at all pleased with what I was handed. Beyond the appearance that my order had been lost in the cook's queue and took even longer to be prepared [then during the first experience] the sandwich I got was not even close to what I enjoyed the first time. The sliced beef was tough, the bread was nearly inedible, I got the bottom of the bag remnants for my potato chips and the spear pickle looked like that too was from the bottom of the barrel - less than appetizing. I was initially planned to add this to the regular list of places to get lunch, but the second experience cancelled that. There are far better places in Bellingham to eat. So if you are tempted to walk into the Daisy Cafe, keep on walking! read more

I discovered this place while looking for B-fast downtown. Good food, normal breakfast fare but it was the waitstaff that sets it aside, mostly cute college girls that were efficient and friendly. Great variety on the breakfast-norm dishes too, i ended up getting 2 plates of food cause i couldnt decide between the orange and cinnamon french toast and the Quesadillas, which were simply grilled breakfast burritos.....but ample amount of eggs, meat and vegis and some home-made pico de gallo to top 'em with, they were delicious! Excellent experience and inexpensive (unless you get 2 plates for yourself). I will definitely return! read more

This place was great. There was a wait to get in, but it was Sunday morning. We didn't mind, we figured it was a sign of good food. It was hard to choose what to order because so many options sounded really great. It took a long, but not unreasonable, time to get food. That was fine since we weren't in a big hurry. It was definitely worth the wait. I got a smoked salmon omelette and it was yummy. My daughter devoured her pancakes, egg and bacon. My dad and grandmother were with us and loved their Baja omelette and cinnamon orange french toast. Our server was nice, but not very attentive. I didn't expect that she had time to stop and chat, but a one time water refill would have been nice. The atmosphere was great though. It was bright, clean and bustling. The food quality was great. The portions were huge too, I could have easily shared my breakfast. I would give the food five stars and the service three. I do recommend it and would go back again. read more

Good service, sat at the counter to watch the cook. First time there for me. My order was a basic test for the management's efforts. The cook was very busy. My meal was set in front of me and I was shocked at burnt grilled red potatoes. Not just well done..charred! My over easy eggs were so under cooked they were room temp. Two skinny pieces of very loose bacon and two huge slices of toast that had been brushed with something that was supposed to be butter. The utensils are unusual and too large. I have never written a review before, but after reading all of the 4 and 5 stars I just had to share my only experience there. Ordered their Eggs Benedict and they were delicious. This is my second time ordering this. My coffee cup was never empty, and same with my water glass. I had to wait quite a while on a Sunday, but this was expected. I've tried their lunches and was not as impressed, but you can't go wrong with their breakfast menu. Great service! read more

Daisy cafe for breakfast this morning. Pleasant seating in the back area because there was five of of us. Service was quick and efficient. My wife really enjoyed her ham and cheese omelet. My daughter remarked that her Greek frittata was maybe the best egg dish she ever ate. I tried it and the next time I go to Daisy cafe I think that is what i will have. I had the Hoppel poppel. It was a tasty pile of potatoes. Nothing special. Would be better with sausage gravy. But then what wouldn't be. My granddaughters had beautiful plates of very fresh fruit. They also enjoyed the food that was shared with them. We go to breakfast every Wednesday and have found some real jewels. The Daisy cafe has made the list. read more

Where to start, the amazing friendly staff, the farm to table ingredients, great lunch and enormous breakfast menu with all the right twists. For me I was done looking for a regular breakfast restaurant when I saw the kids at heart menu! Perfect sized servings of my favorites from their breakfast menu. I've been eating here for about 10 years and the consistency of the service and quality of food is unprecedented for this area. Whatever you see on the menu that catches your eye will be amazing and since they've expanded there's even more seating. Also notice the advertised slow service sign when you come in, this kitchen will not rush or sacrifice the quality of what they serve at any time no matter how busy. So if you're the a$$hole trying to rush the waitress for your food, just keep on looking for another restaurant! read more

I read another review about the soggy potatoes, so a good rule of thumb when going to breakfast places: always ask for crispy potatoes! The Daisy has terrific breakfasts (I'd give 4 stars to that!) which you can get all day long...big bonus! The down side? Not impressed with the lunch menu. The sandwich I got was the veggie. They use shredded cheese which ends up all over the place. The sandwich was very bland tasting as well. The salad comes on the same plate and is so full it falls off. Slow service, not at all impressed with the Daisy Cafe! Spent two and a half hours trying to get two orders of blueberry pancakes and an order of eggs benedict. Sure, maybe if you have all day to get breakfast this place is tolerable. We had to literally ask for menus, ask how much longer our food would take, and ask for the check... I've worked as a waitress, I understand being very busy. However, our waitress made no effort to even apologize for the extremely long wait.
