How I heard of this place: My sister once recommended it as a good brunch spot if we were in the area. Our family chose it as a morning breakfast spot on a visit to Bellingham two years ago. (How did I miss writing my review!?!) We went again this weekend, and it held up! Type of cuisine: Homemade diner style breakfast and lunch foods. "Here at the Daisy Cafe we offer great food along with a relaxed authentic dining experience. Our charming Family Owned restaurant serves up the best breakfast and lunch daily in beautiful Downtown Bellingham. Our delicious choices range from the creative to the basic: from Omelets, Scrambles and French Toast, to Frittatas, Benedicts and the soon-to-be famous Hoppel Poppel. We achieve this goal by making everything from scratch and in house (at least wherever possible), and by using as much locally grown and sustainable product as possible. Our goal at the Daisy is to offer you a real cafe experience, with real employees working hard and in unison to make your visit special. And for those of you with special dietary restrictions, we are here to accommodate. Even though we don't have a special section dedicated to gluten-free or vegetarian items, we are happy to let you create and re-create whatever you see on the menu into your own special meal. Choose from our gluten-free baked goods, to Field Roasts Vegan Sausages or substitute a plate of Fresh Fruit for your toast or potatoes. So the next time you are close, or passing through Bellingham and would like some real... good... food... come in and visit us. Peace" Ambiance: A two-in-one spot, where The Daisy Cafe takes one side, complete with kitchen and bar seating; and The Union Coffee Shop takes up the other side, complete with mega barista station. Both sides offer table-chair set-ups for patrons wishing to dine in. The atmosphere is casual, laid back, clean and very Bellingham - cozy, artsy, quaint and friendly. Despite being downtown, the Cafe feels like a neighborhood spot, where you can walk in and know your servers, cooks, and the faces around the restaurant. What I ordered: For my husband, Chicken Fried Steak ($15) - 2 over medium fried eggs, ground chuck steak lightly seasoned and covered in homemade breadcrumbs, grilled & covered in house-made pepper sausage gravy and served with country-cut red potatoes. For our kids, Galbraith Quesadillas ($11) - 2 eggs scrambled, melted Tillamook cheddar, house-made fresh chopped pico de gallo wrapped in 2 lightly grilled flour and served with country-cut red potatoes, as well as Daisy O'Brien ($13) - a generous portion of country-cut red potatoes & melted aged Vermont cheddar cheese, topped with sautéed red & green peppers & red onions. Sadly, the cheddar cheese was left off of this dish, which would have been devoured. For my mom, a toasted bagel topped with feta, red onions, kalamata olives and small diced tomatoes ($14). For me, the Hoppel Poppel ($14) - sautéed hickory smoked bacon, garlic, red onions, mushrooms & country cut red potatoes, scrambled together with 2 eggs and topped with Tillamook cheddar and served with a side of buttered English muffin and raspberry jam. Our beverages included two 12-ounce caramel sauce steamers, a 12-ounce mocha for me and a 16-ounce matcha latte for my husband. What I loved: My mom absolutely loved the bagel with feta (Mediterranean style), but we all felt the limited plate was overpriced. The chicken fried steak, quesadillas and hoppel poppel were definitely the top choices on this visit (and seems they were the same selections we made on our previous visit). Why I loved it: Friendliest staff, courteous customers and a sweet spot to sit and enjoy a meal with family. Cost: Average

    Eggs Benedict with nova salmon

This place was great. I went around 10am on a Sunday with some friends for breakfast. We walked in, placed our orders and sat ourselves pretty quickly. The person ringing us up was able to answer our questions about the menu and make recommendations which I always appreciate. The food was brought out to us within 20 minutes and it was delicious! I recommend the Eggs Benedict with lox and the Orange French Toast. The French toast didn't really taste like orange as advertised, but it was perfectly cooked and I really liked the syrup. The coffee was good and our server came around to offer refills. Overall this is a cute place to grab a meal when in the downtown Bellingham area.

So amazing! I thought it was pricey at first when I paid the tab, but then I saw the amount of food we got I was impressed! Not to mention the taste of everything was absolutely delicious! My favorite was the potatoes and the coffee. Service was spot on. Not much interaction because it's not really necessary but the short interactions we had with 2 gals that were there was very pleasant. We went on a Thursday morning and almost all tables were full I can't imagine on a weekend. It is rather small but worth the wait to get a bite to eat! Definitely recommended!

Daisy cafe has incredible brunch food and customer service! Highly recommend their eggs benedict and orange french toast. Love the hollandaise sauce they make :)

This is such a cute and delicious brunch spot!! I am a vegetarian and the veggie omelet is delicious! I do wish there was a couple more veggie options though. The staff are super kind also!! I love that they have coloring books but would highly recommend they invest in some crayola crayons.

Okay place. Not good, not bad. Staff paid little attention to us and food was okay. Not good enough to go back to.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!

They happily put the game on when we asked and were very attentive throughout our visit, which made a great first impression. I ordered the burger with bacon and blue cheese and requested no condiments. I think there may have been some confusion in the kitchen, as the garnishes were left off as well, but our server promptly brought them out when asked. Unfortunately, the burger itself was overcooked and lacked flavor. The ciabatta roll was only partially toasted, and overall the dish fell a bit flat. The fries, however, were excellent hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. I don't usually like coated fries, but these were a home run. My dining partner ordered the BLT and said the sandwich was great overall. We also shared the mozzarella sticks appetizer. They were a bit different from traditional mozzarella sticks, thicker cheese with a heavier breading. While they were good, I felt the order should have included six instead of four. Overall, even though we were one of only two tables in the restaurant, we had a great lunch, thanks largely to the excellent service.

The patio is nice because it has lights and heat, but MY GOD the bar stools are not comfortable. I felt like my legs were gonna have bruises and my lower back was gonna be sore. We are both young and active people but were DYING on the barstools. It was also odd to be so high up when we had dogs on the ground, as it made it hard to manage them. We ended up putting them in the car because it was such an awkward height distance (they are small dogs). I was excited about the online menu since they had a lot of gluten free options. The menu in person was different than the menus I saw online and on Yelp. Not too different, just definitely a rotation/seasonal element. I perhaps had some gluten free vegan wings in my heart that have not seen the menu in a while but are posted online a lot. I got a hawaiian style bowl with tofu and my fiance got a sandwich. We each got a cocktail as well, and our total was $100. I thought this was a little steep, but we did like everything we got. I will go back, but probably without dogs and without a dream of what I see on the online menu.

I was happy to see steamed clams on the menu. I grew up eating fresh steamed seafood for dinner, so battered fried seafood that is more common here hasn't really grown on me yet. To me fried seafood is a fancy version of chicken nuggets. I loved the clams, so light but bland. The sauce is full of umami flavor, drizzled with some fresh lemon juice, it was like a summery beachy afternoon in a bowl. I could easily dip a loaf of toast with it if I had one. The clams were fresh and meaty, nothing to complain about with this dish. My partner had the grilled cheese, and he said it was mid. He's vegetarian, and I don't like cheese, so I didn't bother to try any of his meal to do my own fact check. The staff were friendly too. Overall, this is a nice place to grab lunch when visiting Bellingham.

I get that the spinach and tomato are meant to be cool, but the poached egg and hollandaise should at least be warm--kind of the whole point. On the flip side, the Black Cat breakfast (bacon + waffle) was delicious, and the Croque Madame (Croque Monsieur with a fried egg) was chef's kiss. Only note there--fries under the sandwich instead of on the side made things a little soggy. Coffee was solid, but we never got a refill, and same story with water. Once the food hit the table, service basically disappeared. Atmosphere is great--cozy, classic Fairhaven vibe--but overall service was very slow. Would come back for the food, just hoping for a little more attention next time.
