Typically when my experience is less than great, I like to give a place a second chance. However when the word "filthy" is the first word that comes to mind, no second chance needed. My coffee cup had what appeared to be a dried crusty booger on it, the silverware was dirty, and the overall appearance of the place was not clean. Waitstaff is a bit odd and rude. Our meal was served with a disclaimer and attitude. Two waitstaff in view as I walk in. They just stood there staring at me without greeting, so I looked around and found a booth. Waitress then ran towards me and questioned how many there would be. After glancing through the menu I asked if it was too early for lunch. She said it was not, but that everyone usually just orders breakfast here. I explained that I was meeting a friend for her lunch break, so the waitress reluctantly brought lunch menus. (website menu says nothing about only serving breakfast) Our orders were placed and it was as if we had been forgotten. Finally afraid there would be no time left to eat, my friend asked about our orders. The waitress served our salads with a disclaimer, "Just so you know, I did not make the salads". We just sat there looking puzzled? And I will admit it made me a bit uneasy about taking first bite. We proceeded guessing that she must have been referring to how long it took. She immediately came back and slammed the tickets down on the table, spun around and walked away. Daisy Cafe is off our list. Our experience was not pleasant and we will never return. read more

I went in for a late brunch on a Saturday. Our party ordered a scramble, a pancake & egg breakfast, and I got the eggs benedict. At first I was thrilled because the hollandaise was delicious, but when I cut into my eggs they were rock hard overcooked. It was like having hard boiled eggs on my benedict. It took a while for our server to come back, but when I pointed out how overcooked the eggs were he just said, "huh, yeah" and walked away. So disappointing! The potatoes were tasty and this would have been a 5 star breakfast if my eggs were better prepared and/or the server would have seemed to care at all. I love to support local businesses, but I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

It's simple to make bacon & eggs but few places get it right or understand that there is a higher standard. These folks get it.

Ate here for the first time today, had breakfast and ordered the Hoppel Poppel. We waited to be seated and then finally seated ourselves. We waited for menus and I finally got up and asked if we could have menus. First cup of coffee was long gone before we got refills (I'm a slow coffee drinker). When the food FINALLY came it was good ~ but we waited at least 40 minutes for our food! (at least it was hot.) They have a sign on the wall that says you will wait a while to get your food... 40 minutes is WAY too long no matter what. They also charged me a dollar more than the online menu says it costs. I will probably give this place one more try but if the wait is *ridiculously* long and service is not improved it will be the last time. read more

Wavering between 4 & 5 stars I remember my own ideas about context and expectations. Updated all-American breakfast with quality cooking and excellent service--5. Now I was in a good & malleable mood, having come down from Vancouver without coffee or breakfast. Lived in Bellingham a long time ago so navigated to downtown, chose a parking place, & it still had an hour on it. Soon walked by the Daisy Cafe--was there when i was here. 10 o'clock but still busy, but someone had just left the counter. I had biscuits and gravy on my mind and ordered them, they later looked at the specials board & they were $3 off. Two very good and busy waitresses.Liked that the insides of the 2 split biscuits had been grilled. Of course there's never enough gravy, but almost enough, with a good herbal flavor with the sausage. The over easy eggs were easier than that, but that's what biscuits are for, to sop. Tasty coffee. read more

The last two times I have been here the food has been disappointing. First I had a roast beef sandwich. Everything was great except for the meat. It was impossibly chewy and had that metallic sheen to it. Yucky :( I feel as though if a restaurant is going to charge 9 dollars for a small sandwich, the meat should at least be decent quality. On the plus side, the salad that came with the meal was good. The second and most recent time I went here I had the twin sisters (two poached eggs on top of an english muffin). It was decent but way too salty. My friend that I came with had the chorizo breakfast burrito and she didn't like her food as well. I don't think I will be going here again. There are cheaper and far tastier local establishments just around the corner. read more

I've been here a few times when I've been up in Bellingham visiting friends; it's our favorite spot for a late breakfast after a night of partying hardy! This morning was pretty disappointing though. The wait was super long, and even then the hostess/waitress simply said, "We have a table for you in the back," then went on to take someone's order. So we wandered back and found an empty table. We waited close to an hour for our food without any acknowledgement from the waitress!! I watched as a couple who came in after us was seated, served, paid, and gone all before we got our breakfasts. When our food finally did arrive we were starving and crunched for time because we hadn't counted on spending 90 minutes at breakfast, but received no explanation for the wait. I wanted to ask, but I was so hungry/grumpy/hungover that there was no way it was going to come out politely. I ordered the California Fritata with vegan field-roast italian sausage (I LOVE that they offer that!!) and a way too expensive glass of orange juice that got knocked all over the table and still fully charged. The breakfast was delicious, but I think it's a little cheap to not include a side of toast with a breakfast meal. In addition to our orange juice sea, one of the waitresses just forgot to stop pouring while she was refilling coffees and spilled coffee all over the table! That was actually pretty hilarious because she was so embarrassed, but it also just kind of added to the ridiculousness of our experience this morning. read more

I have been going to The Daisy Cafe for breakfast the past two and half years. The breakfast is great. Service is great, the staff always seems to remember me and my breakfast order, which is always nice. Yesterday I tried their lunch for the first time, and let me tell you, I have no idea why it took me this long to give them a shot at lunch. I completely underestimated their lunch capabilities. I had the best Calzone i have ever had from my favorite breakfast joint in town. It was down right amazing. I was drunk on Calzone the rest of the day. That's not a bad thing. My friend and i go here at least 3 times a month after church. It is our favorite. We do try other places to mix it up, but always come back and are satisfied. The fritattas are great. The potatoes are good but sometimes could be cooked to a crispy finish a bit more. Waite staff is friendly and fun. All around a good place to eat. read more

Food was good, however the waitress seemed to be in a rush and dumped my girlfriend's plate on her lap, table, and floor. She was very apologetic and offered us napkins, but that was all. We got our bill and was surprised to see we were charged full price for her meal. I explained to the waitress that I did not want to pay for her full meal given the circumstances, and she corrected it. To sum things up: good food, but EXTREMELY awkward experience. My boyfriend and I came across Daisy shortly after moving to Bellingham in August and loved it! We went every weekend. The food is so yummy but after a while we couldn't ignore the horrible service. If you get stuck in the back you might as well forget about getting served anytime soon. The waitresses don't check up on you and there have been multiple times where we have had to wait a long time to just get a cup of coffee. I'm not one to normally write negative reviews but this place has the potential to be something great... The staff just needs to put more effort into their job. Greet customers when they enter the door with a smile on their face and pay attention to them while you're serving them. The last few times we have gone in, it's always felt awkward to even ask for a table. Like we are burdening the staff for being there. Hope this place can get their act together and that management maybe holds their wait staff accountable because customers will only take being treated poorly for so long and then they will stop coming back. read more

Great food and delicious breakfast selection that is served all day. The Great Northwest Benedict is my go-to option and I highly recommend it. If you go during a rush, it will be slow. It's a small place and it's just the way it is. But if you're there when they're not packed, you'll be fed quickly and again, go here for the food! read more

Some local friends introduced us to their wonderful hearty American breakfast meal there, good coffee, great crowd, very friendly and attentive service staff. This is my absolute favorite breakfast place in Bellingham! Huge portions, excellent food, and good prices. The coffee is the best in town. I usually get the eggs benedict (with eggs perfectly poached) or the Sunriser (delicious whole wheat bread for toast). I have never had a bad meal there. I recently took some of the residents there from the retirement village where I work, and they all loved the food there too. Yummy breakfast this morning! Our first time here, as parents visiting our WWU daughter (she has been here several times), and we will return. Daughter and I ordered the biscuits & gravy and the orange french toast -- then split the plates to share. We really appreciate GOOD biscuits and gravy and these fit the bill -- lots of little sausage bits, good flavor with a healthy dose of black pepper. The French toast was also delicious. Husband had the blueberry pancake breakfast (with eggs and bacon). The pancakes had lots of fresh blueberries and were really large -- he even said he should have ordered the short stack, they were so big. The place was packed with people by the time we left. Be prepared to wait if you arrive late morning, but the wait would be worth it. read more
