I ordered my regular, pastrami sandwich on rye and a cup of chicken matzoh ball soup. The soup came out lukewarm and without much taste, seconds later came my pastrami which by the time I finished my lukewarm soup the pastrami was also lukewarm - and very greasy. The pickle bar had dry sauerkraut and the pickles were mushy. Got home 8 hours ago and I'm still sick as a dog. My wife ordered her regular turkey sandwich with Russian dressing- turkey is always dry but this tasted old, old and dry. She threw out the 1/2 sandwich she couldn't eat. Even the iced tea was off- too strong and warm even with the ice cubes in it- I guess it was just brewed. Our server was mostly M.I.A.

The establishment itself is pretty enough where that can be ignored, but maybe she shouldn't be the first face people see. Who knows. Our waitress was a sweetheart though! Now let's get to the good stuff. The drinks were average, the bites a little above. We ordered crab dip, wings, and fish sticks. The wings were a 4/5, could use a little more marinating (flavor didn't reach the bone but tasted good with ranch), the fish sticks had an odd aftertaste and I actually liked the crab dip. Here's my BBT (Big Back Tip): take the wing and dip it into the crab. I promise you won't be disappointed! Marinade where, I no longer cared about flavor reaching the bone. That was heaven. If you're into creamy seafood and chicken combined, you will LOVE it! The interior is trendy and oh so pretty, I would love to come back for an evening! Last time we came midday, so I can imagine it coming to life later on. They might have a different bartender and host as well. Only reason I'm rating 3 stars is because the food needed another item to taste amazing and the drinks weren't fabulous. They weren't bad, just meh. I'm not a regular drinker (maybe 1-3X per month, only if I'm with someone) so it needs to be worth the sip. There's street parking and a garage nearby. It's Bethesda, so plan accordingly. Enjoy!

I went into the establishment, and we were not greeted, and I joked with my mom thinking that I might as well need to put on an apron and work there part time, as the staff noticed us numerous times with no greeting, no offering for assistance, no customer service skills or care in the world none of the above. The wait was a bit long, as we were patient and I was kind enough to thank the man, and he was a stone wall. The delivery man was funny and called them goofy and told them off, as his livelihood depended on them providing swift and reliable customer service, but no and the delivery man although unfiltered said what others thought but were too polite due to social norms to unleash on these fools. The chicken sandwich itself was great not too salty and not too crunchy or friend hard with good sauces and the mac and cheese was not bad and milkshake nice and thick. I value customer service a bit too, so until that improves, this place won't get more than a mediocre reviews by me. I would recommend to order in advance to avoid the long wait times and unfriendly, lazy, unaccommodating staff. You will get fired on your lunch break coming in here not trying to order in advance. They need to step their game up with the customer service. I never give 4 to 5 stars to places that severely lack in one area or another. Food: 4 to 5 stars Customer Service 1 to 0 to negative stars, so guess what 2 overall is your score, please step your game up; it is unacceptable for customers to be neglected and treated poorly.

A perfect date for my husband and I. The following is what two of us had and some notes about the dish: Parker rolls: good for sure but I could have skipped them. There were better things to eat and they didn't need the butter. They were luscious as they were. Tomato carpaccio with a few fried oysters (this isn't an item on the menu): the tomatoes were excellent and tightly dressed. I've seriously never had an oyster before but these were quite good. Fried eggplant with an Israeli salad and a spread: cooked perfectly. I don't love eggplant but I would order this again for sure. Salted well and crispy the flavor was smoky and perfection. Salads with it were excellent. Blackened salmon: I don't order salmon unless it's Alaskan and I'm not much of a fish eater... this was absolutely a game changer for me. We savored this dish and wanted more. Egg pasta in a Mushroom sauce: this was good but not as memorable as the other dishes. Could have used a touch of salt. If I ordered it myself, I would have been totally happy, but since I had all these other dishes this one got lost. Chicken and crispy potatoes: this was pretty yummy. The potatoes were unique and tasty (needed a dash of salt) but the chicken was well seasoned and moist and just perfectly done. Vadalia pizza: I'm not an onion gal but this was truly great. My pizza snob hubby loved this and we took it home for later. Highly recommend. Peach flambé with blueberries and vanilla ice cream: say yes to this and enjoy the ice cream which was amazing. Cooked table side this was a fun dessert and totally worth it. The staff were kind and the place was quiet - even with an open kitchen (which was silent!). Thanks for a great meal... Firehouse chili: it was an appetizer so not a huge portion portion, but what we wanted. Ordered the sliced raw jalapeños and shredded cheddar cheese on the side. My photo doesn't do justice to how much chicken was on the salad, which was a lot. The salad was delicious. I ordered the blue cheese dressing and the barbecue sauce on the side. The blue cheese dressing is amazing with chunks of blue cheese in it. This salad is my favorite. Very Bliss cocktail: I was going to order a nonalcoholic beer, but our server, Ash, recommended this cocktail, which I ordered but asked to make it minimally sweet. It was delicious and refreshing containing strawberry, basil, fresh citrus, agave, and soda. and I would order it again. Great recommendation Ash. Service: stellar Service from Ash. I ordered a Harvest Garden Salad with a side of fries. Both were good but not great. The salad checked al the boxes for freshness and presentation but somehow fell flat on flavor. I just can't find any Wow factor that kicks it up to four. Sangria is excellent but the meal was just good. It saddens me to write this because I've been coming to Moreland's for years, but after my Father's…read moreDay experience, I won't be returning. My African American military family arrived at 11:00 a.m. sharp on Father's Day. I mention "military family" because I want to paint an accurate picture: we weren't a loud or unruly group. We were five adults, five well-behaved children, and two infants looking to enjoy brunch together. The restaurant was completely empty. Not "a few open tables" empty--completely empty. No one was even sitting at the bar. When we told the hostess we didn't have a reservation, she went to get a manager. What struck me immediately was how flustered he became the moment he saw our group. He came out red-faced, visibly agitated, and immediately launched into how they were completely booked and there was "no way" he could seat a party of 12. We even asked if we could split into two groups of six and were met with the same response: impossible. We stood there looking at an entirely empty restaurant while being told there was absolutely no way we could be accommodated. The whole interaction was honestly bizarre. Confused, we simply said "okay" and started walking away. As we were already down the sidewalk, a hostess came after us and explained that we could sit on the patio, which was first-come, first-served. We could order through a QR code and have food brought to us. That was completely fine with us. In fact, with children and infants, the patio was arguably a better option anyway. The truth is, by that point we stayed more out of convenience than anything else. Getting five children and two infants back into three separate vehicles and finding another restaurant felt like more of a hassle than it was worth. Looking back, I wish we had simply left. Which raises the obvious question: if the patio was available all along, why wasn't that the manager's response from the beginning? Why did he act as though seating us was impossible instead of simply saying, "Our indoor dining is reserved, but you're welcome to sit outside"? I do not make accusations of racism lightly. However, after reflecting on the experience, I cannot escape the conclusion that race played a role in how my family was treated. The manager's reaction upon seeing our group, his immediate insistence that there was "no way" to seat us despite an empty restaurant, and the fact that available seating existed all along created an experience that felt unmistakably exclusionary. The interaction nagged at me throughout the meal, especially when my children and nieces and nephews started asking, "Why didn't the restaurant want us to eat here? The place is empty?" That's not a conversation I expected to have with children on Father's Day. When we left about 90 minutes later, both the dining room and patio were still far from full. I counted 8 open tables inside and 5 open tables on the patio at 12:30. I understand reservations. I've dined all over the world. But Moreland's is not a Michelin-starred restaurant with a months-long waitlist. It's a neighborhood pub--closer to an upscale Applebee's than fine dining. Yet somehow my family was made to feel unwelcome from the moment we walked through the door. After years of being a customer, that is deeply disappointing.
