So the cupcake lady happened to be next to BevMo off Sisk Road, Modesto. I figured I would have the kids pick a cupcake since I got my cupcake in a 16 ounce can. The flavors were limited since it was late in the day. 3pm to be exact. The only flavors left were Mississippi mud, rocky road and two other flavors. I think it was a coconut and lemon type flavor. We were on our way to buy pie at Marie Calendars when the Pink Cupcake Lady truck caught our attention. We always like to try out new things. It was Father's Day, so why not? Upon walking up, they greeted us and were friendly. The presentation was clean and all the cupcakes were laid out. The price was advertised for $2.50 per cupcake. There seemed to be combos with prices such as 10 for $25 and a dozen for $30. At 1st I thought, "Wow, let's save money and get the combo!" However, upon using my super computing brain, I realized the prices were all the same, $2.50 per cupcake. Ugh, I hate being Tricked!!! Anyways, we tried out the different type of cupcakes. The notable ones were: Strawberry Cheesecake: I liked the strawberry filling and the strawberry slice on top was fresh. Snickerdoodle: tasted just like the cookie! This was my favorite! Second, the cupcakes were way overpriced based off of the quality of cakes that were given. The cupcakes were moist, but not fluffy. So to me, they tasted like undercooked cupcakes that were over a day old. The frosting was a disappointment. It tasted starchy, instead of creamy. And when I went to taste the frosting with my finger, the whole frosted top slid off!! Size wise, they were so small. Ok first and foremost yes it has changed ownership and that is very noticeable. The outside of the truck looks neglected it's not being kept up like it used to with the Original cupcake lady. She used to welcomed you with big happy smile, cheerful personality and her beautiful pink apron. It was a split moment decision on our way to Herbst Liquors for a craft beer fix. So many options! It was hard to decide, but I settled on the Turtle cupcake, & my boyfriend picked the Maple Bacon. Mine was filled, which I had hoped meant caramel since it's usually a primary component of turtles. There was plenty of frosting on top, sprinkled with peanuts & drizzled with chocolate/caramel. Inside: more frosting. I was a little bummed, would have been better with either less frosting on top & no filling, or filled with a bit of caramel. I did try a bite of the Maple Bacon, which was on point with the crispiness & flavor of the bacon piece; also the cupcake itself wasn't overly sweet, & had just the right maple flavor. I had the privilege of sampling The Cupcake Lady's cupcakes this summer at a wedding she catered. The flavors available were: Maple Bacon, Mochaccino, Peach Bellini, and Pink Champagne. {First of all, I couldn't pick just one... My boyfriend and I ended up splitting one of each!.........okay, maybe 2) I'm from Portland OR, and to be honest, this whole cupcake thing has been around here for a while.... with local carts and boutique-y bakeries here, I've tried a fair amount of cupcakes. And I swear to you-- I have truly not tried better cupcakes than these deliciously moist and addictive little pieces of heaven! The Maple Bacon tasted like my Grandma's Sunday morning pancakes and bacon-- so amazing. I was amazed at the flavor the Peach Bellini packed-- like a bubbly little fresh peach wrapped in a cupcake! The Mochaccino was perfectly chocolatey, with a twist of coffee, and so moist! The frosting was to die for! Last but most CERTAINLY not least, the Pink Champagne cupcake was the most perfect wedding treat I've ever had-- so CUTE and, seriously, great flavor while being light enough to want like 3 more....! Even as a Groupon user, they were quick to serve me and very flexible versus other cupcake places I have gotten a Groupon from where they place a lot of restrictions on flavors and what not. Well I was able to get one of each flavors but have not tried them all because I am saving them for Christmas! Anyway, I did sample the maple bacon and pink champagne and they were delish! I went on yelp before we tried them and read all these bad reviews and I was somewhat disappointed because a lot of the reviews talk about how dry the cupcakes are. We decided to try the cupcakes ourselves I am very happy we did!! They were not dry out all and they were very delicious!! My husband and I both tried to different Oreo type cupcakes. I was so excited when I saw this truck in Walmart parking lot in Patterson! I walked up to the truck and waited patiently and a few others also waited behind me. The lady never opened the window so we knocked on the door of the truck and she said she was closed but she had cupcakes sitting there to be sold. We said to the lady "you got customers out here, you want the money or no?" So finally she sold us what she had left and once I got home and ate one I was highly disappointed! I ordered a variation of a batman/Spider-Man cake with banana/vanilla wafer cupcakes. They ( I say they only because I spoke to multiple people) said it was no problem. First they were 2 hours late getting me the product, then when I saw it it was NOT what I asked for. I paid for the cupcake thinking at least the cupcakes would be good only to find that there was no filling and the cupcake itself was disgusting. When I called to express my concerns and ask for my money back a week later(a week later only because it was that long for me to calm down and gather my thoughts), they replied with" well why did you take the product". I took it because it was my sons fifth birthday and I thought at minimum the product would be good even if it wasn't what I ordered. I have a report/claim in with the better business bureau.
