My husband and I started with Brisket Nachos to share, and after being unimpressed with the flavor and minimal toppings, we decided not to order more. Three other friends joined us and two had a Tri-Tip Sandwich and side of Mac-n-Cheese. Neither food item looked that good, and the meat was disproportionately fatty. On the way home, my husband started feeling like he was going to throw up. He ended up being sick all night, while I had intense gut pain; I ate far less. We learned the next day that one friend had become violently ill and was in the ER. After ruling out many possibilities, food poisoning was deduced. ABSOLUTELY mouth watering meats. The only time ive had better bbq smoked meats is when I smoke it myself. The food is phenomenal. I had the 2 meat meal with ribs and tritip... cooked to perfection the ribs did not need sauce but I had to try their sauce anyway lol I also ordered as sides mac n cheese,and corn bread both excellent an done right. We also ordered a smash burger which had 2 patties some sauce ,pickles cheese and bacon BAMMM! Mind you it was just me and my 15yr old son and we put that food back. I've been recommended this place many times and finally decided to try it. We got the cali platter, everyone disliked the slaw and beans. They were very bland. All meats were hard to eat unless drenched in the bbq sauce. The cornbread was good. I was told not to go when the young kids were working but decided not to be that person and just go anyway! Happened to be in Turlock and decided to order at Big Vic's BBQ from a friend recommendation. I ordered online using the Big Vic app ( definitely get it) and placed an order for pick up. This is my second visit and had tried the pork ribs and tri tip. This time I decided to get the Pulled Pork and the Brisket with the sides of the Ranch potato salad and Mac and Cheese along with spicy BBQ sauce as a condiment. Let me be frank, when you open your styrofoam container, you get presented with items that's not Instagrammable. The pulled pork was wrapped in a foil (no sauce on it) and same goes with the brisket. I've ordered take out at other BBQ joints that plates it without foil but once you know how it's given for take out at Big Vic's, it's not a big deal. Something I wanted for first time people ordering it to go to be aware. When I finally got home, I plated it myself to make it more presentable when I shared my meal to my friends (refer to pic). Even though it was a 20 min ride to get home, when I finally did dig into my bbq, it wasn't hot temperature wise, so I don't think you get it straight from the bbq pit. It was luke warm on eating. Not a big deal for me but wanted to put out that expectations if you order it for pick up. I have to say though besides the temperature, it was pretty good. The pulled pork with the spicy BBQ was great..: not too hot but a good kick to it. I thought the brisket was good also. I definitely enjoyed my meal and there was plenty left from my 2 meat platter that it can be shared with one other or have leftovers. I'm always down for BBQ food, always hard to find some other than cooking your own. I was working near by and seen them on Yelp with mixed reviews I decided to try them. As I walked in I was greeted and I placed my order 1 meat combo (brisket & brisket beans) and I also ordered a jalapeño cheese sausage. I was thinking about ordering the tri-tip but I didn't see a smoke ring as he was slicing for another customer. I asked what kind of wood and they said today was Almond, but sometimes oak. Not sure why they rotate. The last time I had BBQ in Texas it was either pecan, oak or both. The brisket had a smoke ring not very much smoke penetration. Was not seasoned well and the slices were cut too thick. It was juicy but lacked flavor, luckily I asked for a side of BBQ Sauce. The beans definitely had brisket and sausage in it. It's more of a chili or soup. Not sweet as other baked beans, but has a kick. So overall the beans were ok. The jalapeño cheese sausage was good, cheese oozing out and you could taste the smoky flavor. Staff were super nice. Seating outside plenty of tables. I took my order to go. Other clients were offered pickles and onions, assuming that was for sandwich orders only, not sure I didn't get any or was asked if I wanted. read more

Walking in everyone there was very friendly and informed us we could order when we were ready. The wife got the Tri tip sandwich with Mac and cheese for side. I got the two meat two side combo. I got Tri tip and ribs with the brisket beans and Mac and cheese. There is a couple tables inside and several outside which is where we sat. I smoke a lot of my own meat and am pretty picky due to this so my taste may be different than most. The Tri tip was a 3.5. It was tender but could have had a little more smoke and seasoning. The ribs a 2. I felt a little dry and quality didn't seem great. The Mac was ok I'd say 3.5 and beans were a 2. Wasn't my thing. Wife agreed. read more

It was heavy on pickles and mustard with a ranch flavor. The beans were very good. Totally fresh with big cut onions. The garlic rolls were delicious. The banana pudding was ok. Bananas were fresh at the bottom. Overall the food was good, but it was missing just a bit. Something slight. I added salt and it improved. It's not over seasoned and some people like their food well seasoned. This is not. But I think that's their strategy because their flavors were good, just needed a kick. I've been supporting big vics before he even opened up his brick and mortar location. It's so hard to find good bbq in the area and I was so happy when he was able to open up a shop. I've tried quite a few things off the menu and love when he goes out of the box with some of his specials. For example, once I went in for pork wings. Have you heard of those before? They are deliciously smoked, fall off the bone pork shanks. That with their spicy chili oil and homemade ranch! Bomb! I've also gotten a cali platter, so I could try out a variety of meats. He has multiple platters to choose from if you can't decide what you want to try. You also get sides with most of his items. There's chipotle beans with chunks of chopped brisket, ranch potato salad and smoked mac n cheese. My favorite items are the brisket, pulled pork and Saturday special, beef ribs. The brisket is so tender, you can pull it apart, the pulled pork just melts in your mouth and these beef ribs...my kids call them Dino bones because they are are HUGE!
