Such a cute little place. It is very small but it does have delicious food. I got the meat lovers breakfast which is just perfect for breakfast. My partner got the seasonal Birria Skillet and the Birria was really good. Right amount of spice and the server did say that was her favorite thing in the menu at the moment. I had high hopes for this place, but something happened along the way. There are high reviews, but seem to be dated. Looks like Jerry L is right on the ball: Its mind boggling. Food: The meat scramble with toast was barely edible. Cook must have dumped a pound of salt on it. $14 for a scramble is a good price, but it wasn't any good. The bacon was petrified and the potatoes undercooked. There was really nothing good about it. I could do a better job at home and I am not a good cook. Service: Almost non-existent. Empty place and still the waitress was nowhere to be seen. One coffee refill when my cup was empty for a while. Overall: Will not be coming back. There are way too many options in the area. I like trying new places to add to the rotation, so this is the downside. read more

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for a late breakfast. Glad I did!! Service was fast, friendly and efficient. Ordering was quick and food arrived quickly. Presentation was nice. I ordered the meat-lovers skillet and it was delicious. Enough cheese to add flavor without drowning the eggs. Coffee was good and refilled almost too often (messing up my cream/sugar balance!!) - all's good. Portion size tends to the large size. Gluten free and dairy light eater. The atmosphere is very local cafe very casual. The menu did not list what is gf so I had to ask. Wait staff was really helpful on answering my questions. She didn't know if the salsas, potatoes or tortillas were gluten free. She checked for every one of them. For my gluten free and dairy light eaters. The red potatoes have a seasoning that included gluten. The huevos rancheros have tortillas which are corn. And the red salsa is gluten free. She accommodated all my changes. After checking out the menu I knew I wanted pancakes, so I went ahead and got a pancake meal, it came with 2 eggs, which I got scrambled, some bacon and I got chocolate chip pancakes. This breakfast was just what I was craving. The eggs were just added for the protein value only I was all about the pancake. The food was mediocre nothing special about it wouldn't go out of my way to get it and save yourself the time of driving out here if your planning on it you'd honestly be better just going to a fast food restaurant the food would be better there. We stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday morning before heading out of town. We picked this based on their awesome Yelp reviews but our experience was just average - nothing mind blowing. It is located in a small strip mall and we were able to find parking easily. We were surprised they were not very busy and there were plenty of open tables. We were seated right away and provided menus. We appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch options all day but we both decided to order breakfast. My wife ordered the crown omelet with red potatoes and wheat toast and asked for a side of their green hatch chile. I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and was told it came with a side of the red sauce. It was very fast and efficient. The restaurant itself is very basic but seemed well taken care of. We did notice they had ALOT of people working and there were a few standing around because it was not busy which because of the small space felt a little weird. Let me start by saying that this place is a tiny little hole in the wall that I never would have discovered without yelp. There is no real waiting area except for just standing outside. It's a real diner vibe but tiny. The service is definitely a 5/5. Every single worker was kind and on top of it. Our waitress immediately brought us water and helped us get in and out since we mentioned we were in-between games and needed to get back for our sons next game. My husband and son both got basic breakfast plates which were eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. Pretty basic but good. I got one of their summer specials which was the Birria skillet. Unfortunately the meat wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped and was definitely lacking cheese throughout the dish just the stuff on top. We didn't have to wait to order and the food came out quick. We ordered the green chili pork carnitas skillet and the huevos rancheros with the pork carnitas (pictured). The huevos were perfect to order and the sauce was absolutely worth the visit alone!! The red potatoes are delicious and perfectly cooked and the carnitas taste amazing and I had plenty of pork on my plate. These two dishes were delicious and will definitely bring us back for more. Based on Yelp reviews in Gilbert, AZ for breakfast, my family and I decided to give this place a try. When I arrived, I was not expecting a small restaurant in a plaza area. I had trouble finding it at first because I thought it was its own building. It is located next to the Albertsons along with other little shops next door. The atmosphere had a "Ma and Pa" type feel to it. I could tell this was a local's place as most customers there were on a name basis with the staff. Some customers walked in and the staff immediately knew where they liked to sit and what they wanted off the menu. That was pretty cool. What I also enjoyed about this place is that it is family/kid friendly. On another note, I'm not sure if this is because they are a small, local business, but they seemed to be very understaffed. There were 2 waitresses and from what I noticed, 1 cook. The waitresses were not only serving tables, but they were also cleaning tables when customers left. This definitely caused a delay in seating at times as people were waiting to be seated or attended to. The waitresses definitely did the best they could with what they had, which I give them props for. Great job. As for the food, it was okay. I had the country skillet, which consisted of red potatoes, bell peppers onions, sausage pieces, topped with scrambled eggs and country gravy. I was able to substitute the eggs for egg whites. The food was very good and flavorful. It almost felt like breakfast when I was a kid and mom would cook her famous potatoes with sausage and eggs. My husband had the French toast with eggs and turkey sausage. He said everything tasted pretty good and was quite fulfilling. Keep in mind, my family and I had recently changed our eating habits to a more healthier side. With that said, I was very appreciative that this place offered healthier food options (egg whites, veggie omelettes, etc.). This place offers kid's menus, which is always a plus given we have 3 children. The kiddos ordered the Mickey Mouse pancake with eggs and either sausage or bacon. We sat down right away and my wife thought shr recognized our waitress from Mark's Cafe in Tempe, and she was right. Amber left Mark's when they closed for Covid, but she says she loves serving great food at The Crowned Egg. We reminisced with her a few minutes then we ordered per her recommendations. My wife had the Texas Omlette and I had the chiliquiles (although Amber thought the huevos ranchers might be slightly better). My wife LOVED the Texas Omlette; the carnitas and green chile were amazingly flavorful. Chiliquiles are one of my favorites, but most of the restaurants I get them from don't do a very good job - often the Tortilla chips are soggy, but not here. A group of us had just finished a round of golf and decided we want some breakfast to cap off a wonderful Sunday morning! I found this little gem on Yelp so we decided to give it a try! I'm so glad we did! I had the Eggs Benedict with red potatoes. Both were very good! My husband had an omelette and the other two people had a chorizo breakfast burrito and a pecan banana waffle. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. There was one mishap though. The pancake was a bit tough and wasn't hot, and the butter was ice cold, which meant it didn't melt when put on the pancake. I hate when this happens! We'll be back but please tighten up the cold pancakes and cold butter. Other than that it was great!!!! read more
