Had a nice lunch here with my kids after touring the University of Wisconsin- LaCrosse. The burgers were yummy... and as this place had been recommended to us by our tour guide on campus, we weren't disappointed. Service was ok... they were attentive... but not overly friendly (not rude.... just didn't seem very happy to be there). Will be happy to return the next time we're in town. read more

The service I had at The Old Crow was not good. My party was not greeted by a server for ten minutes. After ten minutes, I walked up to the bar and asked the bartender for a server, and he finally sent one over. There was not much variety to their menu, and they only had one cider on tap. Servers didn't seem to be able to hear us, and were rather apathetic and low energy. My friend had the Caesar salad, which was just lettuce (which was not romaine) from a bag and dressing. Our server also forgot the pretzel roll that came with it. The cheese curds were not actual cheese curds, but rather deep fried cubes of regular cheese. I was incredibly underwhelmed by the service and menu at the Old Crow. I probably would not go again. Pros: - Fun scene for Trivia Tuesday - Clean and spacious - Full bar - Walkable in downtown for bar-hopping and other festivities - Pretzel rolls are made in-house - Plug-in at each booth, super nice to be able to charge your phone or work on your laptop! Seated right away, waitress was friendly. They had a limited menu for Octoberfest which was fine, but it took about 30 minutes for our food to come out and the restaurant was not very busy. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and there was barely any meat and the bread was old. A lot of flies around too. Overall, a disappointing stop. read more

They had a large selection of liquor flights (can't remember if it was bourbon or whiskey) but didn't do beer flights which was a bummer. The cheese curds were cubes.... square cheese curds. I'm a La Crosse native, so I was super excited to see something new come downtown that A. wasn't just a bar, and B. wasn't a chain. The interior of Old Crow is beautiful--very simple, modern, and just "cool." The menu also has promise, however, their waitstaff... Let's just say I hope its because they're still new and working out the kinks. Here's our story: We were in here on a Saturday afternoon, and while they were busy, they had more than ample staff working, many of whom were standing around the hostess station. Our thoughts were that we'd have an appetizer and a couple of drinks, and that we could leisurely enjoy the Saturday afternoon, and luckily, we weren't in a hurry! While we were seated promptly, it took FOREVER for a server to come to our table. After a few minutes of sitting, I started counting, and a server walked past our table no less than 15 times and no one ever stopped. No one asked our drink order, no on said "hey your server will be right with you", no acknowledgement at all. Then I saw a server bring food to the table directly next to us and I thought, okay, she must be our waitress. Nope. Still nothing. Eventually, after about 20 minutes total, I went up to the bar to ask if we should order there or if there would be table service. The bartender said "has no one been by your table?" to which I replied no. He said "ugh okay, I'll try to find her. In the meantime, what can I get you?" He promptly brought our drinks, and then we watched him walk into the kitchen, into the back, around the dining room seemingly looking for her. Finally, about 15 minutes later, our "server" arrived. Well when you stop in on a Saturday evening at 6 pm and the place is slow with workers standing around, not a good sign. When server asks for beverage and you order a mgd64 and a Pino and you don't receive your order for 10 minutes with our server pulled a magician act by disappearing, not a good sign. Another place we really like to come is the Old Crow.If you want to watch your favorite game im sure they have it, they have so many tvs with all different sports playing. I usually order their Brisket Sandwich that has been slow cooked. It tastes Juicy and has an amazing bbq sauce on it. I have also had their Mac and Cheese and it was creamy and flavorful. Is it the best food ive ever had nah but its at least a 7/10 and the prices are good. I do have to take a few points away for the wait staff. It differs but sometimes they can be great and other times very unprofessional, loud and forgetful. We have had wait staff forget something from our orders and then take forever to correct it and I have also witnessed waitresses giggling and laughing their heads off in the front while customers are waiting to be seated Unprofessional. First day open i stumbled upon this restaurant. The atmosphere is nice, but it is big and open so i can see where it might get loud. I had a nice table by the window. I did not find a good lacrosse beer offered to me, would have liked more info on the menu for travelers. The bbq beef sandwich was not much meat on a big glazed bun.... Lose this bun fast! Stopped in for appetizers and a drink. Counted six workers (hostess, wait staff, bartender). Sat at bar and asked for a menu. Bartender went off shift and a new one came on. No one ever came back to take my order. The employees were all too busy talking or watching the game on TV. The bartender kept flirting with the female wait staff. I paid for my drink and left. The bartender said, "One and done, I like that." I don't plan on ever returning. The service is horrible, even when they have only a few people in the bar/restaurant. As I was driving into town I saw the sign for the old crow pub advertising as a bourbon wiskey gastro pub and was intrigued. Well I have to say they met and exceeded my expectations. A very modern simplistic spacious classic pub with small but excellent menu, limited but good selection of bourbon and very attentive staff. The only desert is the Oreo cream desert is wonderful on the taste buds but lacking on the eyes. Overall a great little place to unwind. read more

This review is only for one of the craft beers on tap since I didn't order any food during my visit. The beer was $5, which seemed a little high, but the glass arrived and it was a pretty decent size so okay, I'll pay ya the 5 bucks. Service was very fast, friendly and efficient. I apologized to the waitress for taking up space and only ordering a beer and she graciously said it was fine, she had to be there anyway. I got a large booth in the mid afternoon, the place was not busy at all. The atmosphere was pleasant and upbeat. i'd go back if I lived in the area and next time I'd try their nachos which sounded really good on the menu. read more

I will try to summarize what others have commented. The place is loud, like they say. Our service was great - we sat at the bar. We ordered meaty sandwiches and one of us ordered the 4B burger ($12). Highly recommended the queso and chips as an appetizer. Unique and delicious. However, all three of us barely had any meat on our sandwiches. For $12, it was really disappointing. I think the waitress has picked up on this dissatisfaction, and urged my friend with the $12 to pay extra for a second patty. Being next to Dublin Square... Which has excellent food, this place will really need to put more meat on their sandwiches and meals to compete. I would have posted 4-5 stars if our sandwiches and burgers actually had an average amount of meat on it. Hopefully, they change this and I would love to try it again. read more

This review is for the catering side of this restaurant. We had a party of 40+ in the back room of the restaurant last night. The room was great with a private bar and bartender but the food was below average and the presentation even worse. I ordered brisket, chicken and Mac and cheese for the main dishes. They were served in tiny metal warmers and the restaurant provided small plastic plates for serving. The food was very bland and there was not enough so I had to order and pay for more. I can't speak for the regular menu but I would suggest that you avoid the catering menu. read more
