My "burrito burger" was a delicious black bean burger topped with avocado, pico de gallo etc. and crushed Doritos. I was skeptical, given the name but it was one of the best veggie burgers I've had. My husband's "nacho burger" had two beef patties, cheese, avocado, onion, crushed Doritos and other goodies. He reports that it was also delicious. The environment was well air-conditioned, spacious, and comfortable. Service was attentive and very friendly. I had the Donut Burger, which was simply amazing and everything I expected plus more. It was cooked to perfection and mingled well with the glaze of the donut. The Crow Combo Fries that came with it were also great, and was something very unique instead of just one kind of fry. I've been to The Crow three separate times, and...have been unimpressed with each visit. The food and service are "okay"; the menu selection is huge. I think if they parred down the menu to focus on specialties, they really could improve the quality of the food. Somehow, it manages to feel like a slightly overpriced chain smack dab in the middle of downtown. There are many better options in La Crosse for eateries, and The Crow has that "business traveller trap" vibe while trying to have the look of a cool artisanal eatery. read more

My favorite thing about the Crow is that the owner really takes all of the customer feedback to heart, which shows dedication to providing everyone with a five-star experience time and time again. Great location dowtown. Service was excellent. Food is good and reasonably priced. A good variety as well. Atmosphere is good with it being a tad bit loud. Beer prices are high. $6 for a pint of spotted cow. Most crafts in the area are 3-4 for cow and 5 for local crafts. I would have given en a 4 star if beer was close to local norms. read more

Omg!!! The food!!! This place looks like it would be your typically over priced down town bar/restaurant. Then you walk inside and are greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. I have tried to like this place, but it is NOT A GASTROPUB no matter what the sign says. The service is terrible and the food is mediocre and overpriced for it's quality. The two times I have been was with large groups so we could try a lot of their food, but none of us were impressed and on my second visit I had to ARGUE WITH A MANAGER JUST SO I COULD PAY MY BILL!!! Apparently, after 10pm they have a lot of rules that they don't bother telling to customers when they arrive First: someone at our table ordered a beer and the server asked for a credit card to hold "in case you run out on the bill." We were ordering food and the only alcoholic beverage at the table was a beer. I could understand taking a card for a $10-30 glass of whiskey, but not for ONE BEER! Second: After our food was ordered we were notified that they have a FIFTEEN DOLLAR minimum on credit cards! FIFTEEN DOLLARS?!?!? I've never been to a place with a minimum that high! When I told the waitress that since we had not been notified of the minimum, if she wanted the $9 bill to get paid she would have to take my credit card she said it was against policy, so I asked for a manager. I had to ask for a manager TWICE before a manager came over and tried to tell me that they "have a sign up front" and "I was busy bartending" After arguing so hard JUST TO PAY MY BILL!!! I looked for the "sign up front" and it is an 8X11 sheet low behind registers at the bar that can only be read from 1 of 2 seats AT THE BAR! Oh, and the $9? It was for an entirely unremarkable sloppy joe with fries. My previous visit included a mediocre tray of nachos and THE WORST CHEESE CURDS I HAVE EVER EATEN (yes, they were worse than cheese curds from a fast food joint) In summary, there are MANY MANY much more interesting restaurants and bars within an easy walking 3 block radius that serve unique and delicious food at a similar or better price. Their only unique item is their wide selection of whiskeys and bourbons, if they would just take the same care with their service and food as they do with their whiskey, this place would be something special. read more

My wife and I went to lunch on second day Old Crow opened. We ordered two appetizers, the Jalapeno Cheese Curds and Pizza Rolls, to start. Both were satisfactory enough. We then decided to share the Honey Mustard Smoked Chicken sandwich with macaroni and cheese as a side. We tasted NO honey mustard on the sandwich with left it bland and the macaroni and cheese had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The service was good, but you can see the management is playing it safe for beer selection. Nothing outstanding or interesting. The place had no soul or character. The walls are stark and boring. And the place was WAY TOO LOUD!! even at lunch. Somebody should think about putting some noise dampening foam or something in the ceiling. Had a hell of a time talking. read more

I had to finally make a Yelp account because of this place. Lot's of hype and no delivery. Here's what my group had: Old Crow burger- This was bad. It was dry and chewy, not expecting this considering it's "Kobe beef". $13+ for one of the worst burgers I've ever had. Doughnut burger- The doughnut tasted like they got it from a gas station. Burger patty was the same as the Old Crow. Pork Shank appetizer- $10 for 6 tiny shanks. Wow. They were not too terrible, a little dry, decent BBQ sauce. These are the reason I'm giving them a 2 star rating instead of 1. The waitstaff was nice, so that's good. I might go back if they get their act together with the food situation. Perfectly acceptable food, and quite a bit of variety. I went with a group of 14 and they were able to accommodate us without a reservation on a weeknight (we arrived around 6:30 - the place got busier after that). Everyone was able to find something to their liking, and I didn't hear any complaints about the food. I had the Sweet Crow salad with Chicken and it was well prepared and tasty. Large beer and bourbon selections. Only one cider (Cider Boys, apparently a Wisconsin thing) on the menu. I am not a fan of sweet ciders, so I asked the server if it was sweet or dry. She said in between, and she was totally wrong (guessing, I assume). It was in a bottle, so I couldn't sample. Basically Woodchuck; I didn't finish it. A very nice addition to the La Crosse area. Set up in beautiful downtown La Crosse. The atmosphere of the fantastic gastropub is classic. Oak and brick accented walls and bar, with all the customer comforts. The menu is fresh and very accomadating to all pallets and likes. They cover things that you want with Simple twists, that make for a mouth watering experience. I was blessed to be part of the soft opening for the waitstaff and I must say, the staff is trained right with excitement, friendly attitudes and most of all knowledge. Our waitress, Jasmine, knew everything about the menu items, and her recommendations were spot on! I must tell you....TRY THE DUCK WONTONS!! Their draft beer selection is spot on and crafty. They have a large selection of bottles to cover for not having a draft that's fits you! Now to the business...the bourbon menu and concoctions they have created are amazing. Stop in here, grab a drink and enjoy the food. They have separate room to the back for a business meeting complete with audio visual hookups for that meeting that requires power points and such. The old crow is the newest "must try" of La Crosse. It's in the heart of of downtown, it has a big city feel, and it is great for lunch, happy hour, or late night fun. Lots of windows and the decor is fun, very fitting of the name "the old crow". I tried the King burger which has bacon and peanut butter...added some mayo for an interesting flavor combo at the suggestion of the owner. Not bad! Check this place out for sure. read more

We were greeted appropriately, and with the minimal 20 minute wait, we decided to have a drink at the bar. After about 10 minutes, we were sat at a table. The waitress came over to get our app and additional drink orders. Then after we got the drinks, we were ghosted. We got the app abt 15 minutes later and that was it. There were 3 tables around us who had drinks (assuming their orders were placed), and they eventually got food, ate, paid, and left. Then another round of 2 tables: drinks, apps, food, ate, left. We're still sitting there. It was not busy, multiple open tables, at least 12 servers (not a COVID shortage by any means). We saw nearly 5 tables sit, order, drink, eat, pay, and leave. When I told the server what happened, she seemed dumbfounded. Like she hadn't just served everyone around us. I paid for what we had gotten from our order (drinks/curds) and walked out. There was no reason to have such poor service. I don't frequent the area, but I know this was just simply extremely poor service. read more

The good: huge drink menu (especially bourbon & beer), really nice decor, plenty of large HD screens with a variety of sports, good burgers and reasonable prices. We were there this past Friday night for Rotary Lights. We ended up eating at the bar because we were able to get a drink there while waiting for our table and it just worked out to sit there and eat! Our bartender/server was excellent. My boyfriend tried a couple of different bourbons and the bartender was very attentive and explained them all and took the time to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. First time in the area to meet a colleague for lunch. He chose this place and I was not disappointed. I had the bacon cheese burger with avocado and fried jalapeño with the combo fries (French fry medley). The burger was delicious with the perfect amount of beef. A fresh small bun was just enough to grab the burger with, and each bite seemed proportioned well with all the ingredients. And who doesn't like fries?
