Very classy place with great pizza! Good stuff on tap and if you like that, you'll be happy. Lots of character: it feels like an old saloon and the mechanical safe door out front makes sense for its name. Very cool booths and bar. It feels very well conceived and put together as a whole and comfortable as well. The pizza is on the awesome side, especially if you like thin crust pizza. It's as good as it looks. It was my first night driving from Chicago. I was tired, hungry, and indecisive. One of the guys who was helping open the cabin where I was staying recommended Safe House. I called and Nick helped me pick a beer and another man took my pizza order. Very soon thereafter, delicious beer and Canadian bacon pizza arrived at my door. (The man who delivered the food was even nice to my dog, which is an extra star in my book.) Thanks, you guys. I come to Lansing every Fall, and I promise to see you again. The best pizza we have ever had. We travel 3 hours a couple times a year just to eat it. The service is always pleasant and makes us feel like a local even though we aren't. The restaurant has neat antique items and information on things from the past. The building makes it feel like you've stepped back in time and the bank safe door makes it even better. We love the The Calypso, which is a thin crust Pizza with Spinach, Artichoke Hearts, Tomatoes, Garlic Chicken, Feta Cheese and a Homemade Pesto Sauce. It probably sounds weird, but we like to add Black Olives. This Combination might be my favorite Pizza ever! We have only gotten carry out from here, but they are always fast and friendly. read more

Wings were crispy and the recommended homemade hot sauce was spicy and flavorful beyond that. Decor was interesting. Bathroom had a cool pull chain toilet. Not a ton of space for groups, so best for groups of four or fewer. Had tv at the bar so good place to watch the game with good food and beer. The pizza is the best in the area and the staff is knowledgable about the beer and always willing to go the extra mile to make every visit a great time. i visited lansing this past weekend. i went into the safe house to have a brew and to try their pizza i had heard about. WOW! i am impressed. it was delicious. the wait time was normal. but chatting with the owner and the other bartender and waitress made the stay even More enjoyable. the one bar tender, Mandy was just a great person very down to earth. we had a great talks when i asked nick about all the craft and imported beers that he had, he was able to tell all about all of them he has some of the finest brews i have ever seen. great person to know. it felt that i knew these people all my life, but i was only there two days. i will definitely go back to this bar again more so than the others in town. the town had a shindig going on called fish days. if you go try to put it on your calendar for the 2nd wknd in aug. you wont be disappointed for stopping in. i know im going back and ill drive all the way from lakeville, mn to do so. it was worth the trip. hi mandy, hi nick and i didnt get the name of the other waitres but all are great people. see you next yr. jim a. read more
