Cow Decor

Ky'arssa, I think that's how you spell her name, was an amazing waitress. Even though the food took a bit to come out, she checked in and assured we had our homemade bread appetizer. Three pieces of this thick cut bread basically turned into my meal. Warning it's very filling. My grilled salmon was a bit dry... Normally, it's not and I enjoy it. As a barbecue place. So cowboy decor a plenty. I do miss the speak cowboy tape they used to play in the bathrooms. Maybe it was just down for this night?

Amazing amazing BBQ.. the service ambience and view was amazing . We got to sit next to view that you saw the hills mountains and even a wedding reception was going on. The food was very flavorful and a little like they say everything is big in Texas lol definitely a place to go and enjoy some good BBQ

I have been coming to The County Line since they had warm mint rags before your meal, they used to put cherries in your soda, they had a view with no office buildings and other homes. The view on the outdoor patio is still amazing but it has definitely evolved over the years. Located in a historic old "Speak-easy," the County Line on the Hill offers an incredible 20 mile view of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. There is plenty of parking and I have never had to wait for a table. I still start my meal with the complementary bread that comes with a bowl of butter. They also have a homemade option for additional cost. The Big Daddy Beef Rib platter is still the go-to because it can be shared. It comes with beans, potato salad and cole slaw. The barbecue sauce is plentiful. The ribs have gotten a bit drier and less meat over the years but I still enjoy them. I have other BBQ from here and you really can't go wrong. They used to have a free catering event where I got to try all of their BBQ and enjoyed the pork ribs, sausage, briscuit and chicken. The salad and okra sides are good also. The service is always friendly and helpful. Always enjoy the talking cow that drops cow jokes.

4.5 My husband and I decided to order and pick up some County Line for dinner. He went into the restaurant, gave his name, got our food and then returned home. The service was good as they got got our order correct. This time around my husband ordered the emergency kit which came with 4 meats (turkey, brisket, sausage, and chicken). It also came with 3 sides (coleslaw, potato salad, and beans) plus it came with bread, pickles, onions, jalapenos, and bbq sauce. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad and okra. Plus a half loaf of their homemade bread. The brisket sandwich was delicious. I added the pickles, onions, and BBQ sauce for added flavor. It's my favorite way to eat brisket sandwiches. It was so full of meat that I couldn't eat it all. The potato salad was full of chunks of potatoes which I liked. The okra was hot with a crispy exterior. I tried my husband's beans and coleslaw and they both had a little bit of flavor. The homemade bread has always been a favorite of mine. I love how it tastes warm with some of the honey butter that they included. Overall it was a good dinner choice. The ordering and pickup process was easy and the food was good.

5 Meat Plate

My husband and I were given a gift card for The County Line, for our birthdays. We chose the Hill location because it still gets dark early and I expect the night view here would be better than trying to see turtles in the dark at the other location. The view and the service were the best parts. The food was very plain. We tried a little of everything, by splitting the 5 meat platter. The turkey and beef ribs were the best meats. The menu says they don't do substitutions, but the server offered it anyways. We got double turkey instead of pork ribs, for dietary reasons. I think they don't want people trying to get more beef than they paid for. I upgraded both sides, and both weren't worth the upcharge. Both the baked potato and the macaroni and cheese was overcooked and didn't taste like much. The outside of the potato didn't seem to have any seasoning which was a missed opportunity for flavor. However, they gave me a free birthday dessert, so that was a nice bonus!

I've been a fan of their original location on 2222, but this is the first time I dropped in here at this location to get the rib king combo special to go. This location very much mirrors the style and decor of their original location. It's not visible from the road at all, just a sign on 2244 to denote its location. Plenty of parking at the top of the hill, including an overflow lot. Once inside, it's like being at the original location, even the food is exactly the same as if it came from there as well. However, the view from the patio is much different since it overlooks the wide expanse of the hill country instead of a local body of water like the original location. If you like the original location, you'll like the clone. Informative photos and videos included.

What was left of my gut busting three meat dinner. Brisket, ribs, and turkey.

The food, service, ambiance, and parking were all excellent! And that view! The three meat meal was enough for two. My Coke was served in a glass so big it must have been two liters. No waiting for refills. I couldn't even finish it. I was dining alone but had a great experience!

First Time at this County Line location. They have such a lovely hill country view. It was a hot day so we chose to sit right by the large windows viewing out onto the patio. Beautiful! We came for one thing and that was the Big Daddy Beef Rib platter. Last time we had it the ribs were massive like dinosaur size. For some reason they were much smaller this time and the meat not as tender, but still delicious. Opted for a side of fried okra and potato salad. Fried okra is on point and the potato salad it's alright, but it's not mustard based. It was also HH at the time and we tried the sausage for $5. Such a hearty portion and the sausage is so tasty! Love their BBQ sauce. We had to ask for extra. Also don't forget to ask for bread which is only available upon request. Our server Travis was super nice and quick! Oh and also we asked if we could take some rib bones home for our dog and we were happily given a bag of bones to go! Our dog was in heaven!

We always take out of town guests here as another option for experiencing Texas BBQ just as someone did for me when I first arrived. The interior is a country home feel with antiques displayed throughout and an incredible view. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with fans. When using the restroom, be sure to listen to the useful language tips playing through the speakers. The service was great. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and our server was consistently checking in. The menu is large. We started with the fried pickles (chips, which I prefer) and homemade bread. The homemade bread comes out warm and is slightly sweet, but yummy. This beats the free one. There was a wide selection of meats, which were all good. An Austin staple.

Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We didn't try that.

The steak I ordered was made to order perfect, as I like it mad rare and mooing, but had heavy seasoning on it. Not sure if that is signature to Perry's, as I'd personally rather let a good cut of steak speak for itself. It took away from the natural flavor, so I'd ask for no seasoning next time. Between the ambiance, service, and overall quality, I would definitely go back.

Most of my reviews focus on the perceived value I believe I get for the money spent. Overall, I…read morethink Ember Kitchen is certainly worth checking out, but I think I might order a little differently next time. First off - parking is convenient in the Seaholm parking garage. My understanding is that Ember will validate, but it wasn't apparent to me how that works and honestly I walked out forgetting it and having to pay the bill for parking - oh well. I came with a party of six and we were celebrating a birthday. The team at Ember was very accommodating. We were seated downstairs in their "Speakeasy" room. It's a bit dark, but cool atmosphere. There are other dining options if you prefer a bit brighter setting. We were served complimentary birthday shots! These were quite tasty - enough so that I ordered another round of those citrus based shooters. Everyone at the table ordered a cocktail. Nearly all the cocktails on the menu are going to be served in a feminine looking glass and with a flower. The cocktail menu is pretty much for the ladies. On the bright side, they have a good selection of bourbons, tequila, etc available for straight pours at a decent price. Not extensive selection, but I think a good choice - enough that I think you will find something to fit your price point and taste profile. Our waitress was top notch. Very attentive and paid close attention to the orders from our gluten sensitive guest ensuring she ordered safely. We ordered a couple small plates as appetizers for the whole table. Everyone loved the crab cake. I thought it was tasty but wasn't expecting whole kernel corn in a crab cake so that threw me off a little. Market seafood crudo - this is a fish appetizer and as the name implies changes based on availability. The night we ate was a Hamachi or Salmon option. The salmon had a bit more of a spicy sauce so we chose that. It was a hit. We also chose a tuna tartare and it was fresh, good but didn't knock our socks off. When ready for the main course - our waitress had a number of off-menu specials to tell us about and honestly many were very interesting options. In fact, we chose to split a 50oz Tomahawk steak. This was a huge steak plated on a hot platter, already sliced off the bone with some fingerling potatoes. This was honestly the most expensive part of the meal (no surprise), but also the least impressive. Now visually it was a spectacle for sure, but the meat certainly had pieces that were tough with some large pieces of fat. Now I don't mind the fat, but when sliced there were a couple pieces that were nothing but fat, other pieces still that were mostly gristle. We all agreed the seasoning was just missing, it seemed to have no seasoning at all. It was also quite charred. One of the claims to fame here is their Josper oven and clearly it can put a good char on a steak. Some in our party liked it, but I thought it was a bit much. There can be fine line between a good steak crust and a burnt crust. I thought it was a bit much, and maybe why the seasoning seemed missing. On the bright side, it was cooked correctly to order. My only problem was, for the price, this was a complete miss. We also ordered scallops and the morida shrimp. Both were excellent. These were probably worth coming back for. The morida shrimp come served in a bowl with a rich sauce that was enjoyed by the whole party. The scallops come pan seared and were cooked perfectly - which is key to enjoying a good scallop. Be aware that the typical order of scallops though comes with only two scallops - rather light even for a single individual, because these were not on the "small plates" menu, it was supposed to be a full entree. Great experience overall, but we just felt not quite worth what we had to pay for it. Overall, it was just over $150 per person. What could have saved it - for that price, the steak HAS to be on point.
