    quite nice beans and rice
    Steve B.

Heading up South Lamar on a Sunday morning, looking for breakfast tacos and a coffee. Came up on Maudies and there looked to be a chance to get on this Tex-Mex thing I keep hearing about. Easy parking and self-seating, before you know it chips and salsa are on the table. Can't complain, the chips and salsa were quite nice. I opted for a simple cheese enchilada plate, I think it was the Josie. The food hit the table in 5 -10 min, sizzling hot enchiladas and the beans + rice on a sidecar. I am looking this over and have come to the conclusion the cheese covering the enchiladas is Velveeta or Kraft Singles. I am puzzled. I am sure we all know that is not food but some petrochemical disguised as cheese. I did my best to peel that plastic layer back and get to the enchiladas, then it hits me, is the same fake cheese inside the enchiladas? yikes.... The beans and rice were good.

It was my first time having Maudie's breakfast and it was so good! These might've been the best pancakes I've tried. Although, I haven't tried many pancakes, these were so good.

This was my first time here and I can describe it as the Telmex place you bring your picky parents to. I prefer other establishments but I can't Faulk this place as they are busy and very courteous to their patrons. Chips and dips, trifecta, were not the best but again it is your parents (out of town) version of what Tex mex would be. Drinks were good and they had something for everyone. It seemed like a mix between a Chuy's and perhaps a Don Pablo's but the locals were lined up with to go orders the whole time we were there. This is a place for families and large parties. I sat at the bar and watched the game while I awaited my relleno which I've had better but I compare a business to itself and I found it to be good. So if you want original Tex mex I'd say this isn't it but if you have a large group who has different ideas of Tex mex then this is your place!

This place provides good value. It's tasty traditional TexMex and the price point is where it should be for Mexican food. I ordered the Mexican special which started with a crispy beef taco and guacamole salad. Very tasty! Then two cheese enchiladas with chili con carne sauce with onions were served alongside rice and beans. Everything was on point. The service here is fast, margaritas are good, and the house salsa has a nice kick to it. Place is a little small inside but there is outdoor seating.

My first real Tex-Mex experience and Maudie's did not disappoint! I tried Maggie's plate which came with one of everything. A wet enchilada in chile con carne sauce, refried beans, rice, and a crispy taco. The chile con carne enchilada was life changing and I would come back to Maudie's just for that. Come for a casual, homey quick bite with great food.

Worst restaurant ever!!!: - undrinkable hibiscus tea - chapula made my stomach so queasy - we were ripped off: *"where is beef" in chaplua, yet they charge for additional beef *charged us beans when it was included *did not take happy hour discount from my padre's drink while it was during happy hour. - gave us one sopapilla, while menu appeared that it was two.

This is one of my favorite places to visit when I visit Austin. If you like Mexican food, this is the place to go. I love that they have a diverse menu, and you can get a breakfast taco even at lunchtime, and they also have a full bar. I got excellent service as always, but it felt like the waiter was extra attentive because they were busy, but our waiter kept coming by to make sure we were doing OK. My party got appetizers to share, queso and guacamole. I also appreciate that they bring out salsa and chips as soon as you are seated. This time I got grilled fish tacos and black beans and tequila and the rocks. My husband got a Long Island Ice tea, it was tasty. He was nice and gave me a sip. I forgot to take a pic of his taco salad but it must have been good because he killed it. I will be back again and again when I visit Austin again.

Ordered to go for my girlfriend and I. Loved my beef enchilada and would give that an 8/10. However was disappointed with this to- go portion of rice. This is how much rice was there when unboxed. I understand it is only a side but overall not enough rice there for the price of the plate.

The brand is often described as combining Marfa's creative spirit, Malibu's laid back lifestyle, and clean Scandinavian design. That alone made it a great find, but what made the experience even better was discovering that they also had live entertainment on Tuesday night until 11. I ordered a coffee and a brownie, and while the total was a little on the expensive side, around $15 or $16, it felt completely worth it to me. The quality was there, and everything felt a bit more gourmet than your average coffee shop stop. The brownie was delicious, the coffee was exactly what I wanted, and the overall atmosphere made the price feel justified. Between the free entertainment, the beautiful decor, and the location, it felt like much more than just paying for coffee and dessert. One of the best parts of the experience was the setting. Their menu, is unlike any other I have seen in the Austin area. It's unique, well crafted, and intentional. Corn Cream Matcha latte: The minute I saw this on the menu I knew I had to get it. I have seen corn matcha and lattes in California many of times, but never in Austin. A corn matcha or lattes is one of those drinks that is a challenge. You can either totally miss the corn flavor or overdo it. I think Cafe Du Bless gave me the perfect ratio and this drink was so yum. Give me 3 to go please. Earl grey matcha cloud: Their matcha cloud is so fluffy-as a cloud usually comes. But here's the thing can we please compliment it's perfect whip and the green on these matcha's! In regard to the earl grey taste itself, it was so well infused. Banana latte: Okay so as we all know banana flavors got as popular as strawberry last summer. I love a banana latte, but it's fair to say that even if a banana flavor is easily accomplished it's also hard to strike a balance, too bring consistency, and still allow the espresso to come through. Once upon a time, Disneyland released a drink called the Banoffee, it was a hit! I absolutely think Cafe Du Bliss came close to that trend with their banana latte. All of these drinks and I also must compliment their superb service. The girl who took my order was so sweet and I had questions about their drinks and she was so kind in her customer care.
