I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch with a friend at the cottage. We both ordered lattes which came out looking beautiful as you would expect given the very pleasant trendy ambience of this restaurant. It was a rainy day so tomato soup and quiche fit the bill. The tomato soup was non dairy but very creamy. The quiche was light and fluffy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My dining companion had the farro salad. While she enjoyed it she would have liked the farro to be cooked a little bit longer. This is my second time to the cottage. The first time I came for dinner. We enjoyed live music and had a pleasant meal, but think it seemed spendy for the amount of food, but will definitely be returning to the cottage now that know what to expect:) read more

The atmosphere and the patio they built for Covid was nice.The staff were very friendly. Overall we were pretty disappointed. We would not suggest the Cottage Cubano at all. It was nothing like a true Cuban sandwich. At the very least they should press the bread. The pulled pork was flavorless. The bread was dry and too thick for the sandwich. We ended up taking off one layer of bread and eating it like an open face sandwich. The Cuban sandwich at Cheesecake Factory is better. The Guava Rosé Sangria was mediocre. I'll start with the positive. The food here might be one of the best meals I've had in years. The ravioli had me in another world with each bite. My friends also raved about their meals, as well. We wouldn't have even eaten here and were turning around to walk back out after asking their closing time and realizing, we couldn't even ask them to serve 5 of us just 30 min before closing. We asked them if they knew of anything else that was open, as we had just come from a Christmas concert and wanted to grab a bite but had already went in 5 places that were all getting ready to close. The women at the counter told us to sit and they would love to serve us and not to worry about rushing, that we would be fine. We resisted multiple time's and she continued to insist, and reassure us it was no inconvenience at all. So we sat down, feeling super excited we finally found a place. Everything was off to a fantastic start and would have been a 5+ star review had this continued to be the experience that we had. But as soon as the first server who took our order left, things went south. A new woman started waiting on us maybe so the other women could do her shift work (just a guess), but this women seemed to feel very very differently than the woman who invited us in so close to closing. She rolled her eyes at us, with each request. She literally sighed heavily out loud when I asked for more water. She completely ignored our table for the rest of the time except to tell us twice that they were closing soon. Btw it wasn't even closing yet and we literally hadn't taken the first bite of our food yet. I forgot to mention that I had not decided if I wanted a drink and asked when I received my meal for the drink I wanted, since she never came back to take my drink order and she snapped at me, that they were no longer serving drinks. It was so weird because the table beside me all had just gotten a round of drinks and she didn't even give us any warning about a last call. I then asked for a little bit of sweetener for my tea that I ordered when we first sat down and she just rolled her eyes and walked away. She then came back and said all they had was sweet n low which is absurd since they are a coffee shop as well, and so I pushed back a little saying, That sweet and low wouldn't work and she stormed off again, and brought me back some simple syrup. Which was exactly what I had initially asked for. I think what's clear after reading other recent reviews is that not everyone that works here is on the same page, nor are they trained or qualified to handle higher volume in a small space with food that is more indicative of a formal bistro-style dining experience. It was very apparent in our experience that our server was not trained to handle the volume of service that this quality of food brings in. Additionally, when one person at a restaurant tells you something is okay and another makes you miserable for taking her at her word, clearly there's a communication problem somewhere, and my guess is it's a management issue. If not, there's enough people complaining in the reviews that management needs to retrain or address these issues immediately in their staff or it's going to start hurting business. I would absolutely recommend trying the food here because it was beyond good. But, I would not go with a group and I would go during the slowest off hours possible so that you get good service. Hopefully my review doesn't get me banned from future dining like the other yelper who also experienced mixed messages from staff. read more

I visited once before when they had just opened, prior to the pandemic. They had a great seating arrangement and a real relaxed vibe. I last visited May 2021 for my birthday. I made a reservation the week before online to sit on the patio as I had family from out of town dining with us. The experience was sublime. There is a small queue that forms to the left of the entrance where a server/hostess will greet you and help you get set up on either a waiting list or seated if there is space. I arrived to my reservation 5-minutes early and my table was set. A server brought out water and there are QR codes to scan for a menu. My family came shortly after and it was easy enough to get them settled. Our server got my drink order prior to my family arriving, which I appreciated as it's nice to have something to sip on while waiting for the rest of my dining party to arrive. We as a group ordered both of the quiches (a slice of the vegetarian offering and a slice of the ham), croissant french toast, and the crepes. Everything was amazing! The French toast was decadent and the quiches were perfection. I paired my slice with a side salad and my sister got the fruit. Crepes were paired well with fruit and cream. If I need to impress anyone, I'm coming to The Cottage. If I want a fancy date night or just brunch with the girls I'm also coming back. The Cottage is definitely a lot closer to 'upscale' than I would normally go for, but I was doing a job in Bothell and my client took me here for brunch and I'm now irritated that I don't live closer! The menu on the website wasn't loading for some reason, so I just said "get me what you get!" because a little brunch roulette never hurt anybody. Let me just get this out of the way- the Brisket sandwich? Delicious. However the thing that stood out to me the most when we arrived was the absolutely BEAUTIFUL outdoor dining area. I was told that this is a new tent, because their old one collapsed during the snow storm- yikes! I would have honestly never been able to tell anything was ever less than flawless. The indoor seating area is just as glamorous. Everyone was socially distanced, the place was mostly empty except for one or two patrons so that made me feel very comfortable even though I was ordering takeout. I absolutely love the tiled ceiling in the corner with the intricate chandelier- I'm glad that I know of this place so that I can take my visitors from out of town to something a bit more fancy than I'm used to! I've found an absolute GEM of a bistro! And no, I'm not a fake yelper, because this place obviously doesn't need it ;) The backstory is I was sick as a dog on Valentine's Day (you know the kind of sick where you sleep for 36 hours straight and still feel like warmed garbage 2 weeks later?) and I'm with the most gooey romantic man on the planet who wants nothing more than to have epic nights planned to a T. The Cottage in Bothell NAILED IT! My mate messaged them via their Facebook page after stumbling on a live music event and after a few short messages, they outperformed even the top restaurants I've visited. Here's the highlights: We walked in to a perfectly set table with a customized, personalized, menu with a mouthwatering aperitif and two glasses of champagne...I was misty it was so romantic. The server, Madison, was hands-down, the most warm, engaging, and focused person I've ever met. Excellent service without being overbearing, perfectly timed food and cocktail execution. We went with recommended cocktails, a whiskey and a rum to start, and they were excellent. Hand-Crafted ingredients, reasonable pricing and just served up in a gorgeous atmosphere (seriously, this place looks just like my dream house...fireplace, tin ceiling, candles everywhere). The food was mind-blowing. We had the short rib with savory bread pudding and will go back just for that. Handmade pasta was incredible. Cheese & meat plate with house cracker? Yes, I'd eat that all day long. Even though we declined dessert, just because we were way too full, the owner, yes the owner, came over with a slice of carrot cake which is probably the best I've eaten...and one of my favorites. The Chef's talent shows in every execution. You guys HAVE to check this place out in downtown Bothell. The acoustic band was great...not too loud and lent to creating an atmosphere of romance and fine dining I'm not used to seeing on the Eastside. I booked a reservation at the Cottage for my Bachelorette weekend. We all live just an hour outside of town and we're searching for a delicious, cozy, just-our-vibe kind of restaurant -- it ended up being just that, but not without a few key details worth noting: --Literally the WORST booking system for anyone with a special request or questions, etc. If you're looking for a dinner for 2-4, you should have no issue; however I was very frustrated while trying to make this reservation as the restaurant does not take phone calls, instead we are made to send a message to their iPad which I did on multiple occasions. It took several hours to hear back, so much back and forth. They insisted it would "all work out" but it's hard to trust someone via message when the words they type out to me are different than what the automated system is showing. It DID end up working out, but there are definite kinks in the system. --GREAT ambiance -- so cozy, great live music, gorgeous accents with the colors, lighting fixtures, windows, etc --Food was great -- a good variety and several GF/DF/vegetarian options-- drinks were also top tier -- Service was fair -- the waiter was knowledgeable and kind, but very slow. This being said, the restaurant was very busy! Overall it was a positive experience and I am glad it all worked out to host our group, but I wished my experience securing the reservation was less stressful. read more

The scrambled eggs where cooked just right moist and well seasoned. I usually like to have cheese on my scrambled eggs, but didn't need it. The meal was delicious. I really enjoyed it. The only reason this dish didn't get 5 stars was the lack of gravy on my biscuits, which I prefer to be smothered in them. Would definitely go back and try something different. Pretty cute and cozy place in Bothell. Went here for happy hour and some great apps. The crab dip was pretty good. Not amazing but good. The meatballs were actually great. The sauce was really flavorful and the cheese went well with it. Friend even got an order to go. We tried to order this rabbit roulade but it was a seasonal dish that just finished out unfortunately. It was replaced by a crispy pork belly dish that was also ok. Pretty lean in a cherry sauce with a sort of mash on the side. We also shared the duck breast which was unfortunately not impressive. I think it was a bit overcooked and really small. The mushroom risotto it came with was pretty good though. Maybe a little truffle? But I do wish it was a bit more moist. Updating my review after a dinner visit on a Saturday and adding a star. Yelp says four stars = "Yay! I'm a fan," and I am. The organization of the menu has changed, and it makes a bit more sense. The food was good. In fact, my chicken breast was superb. I am always hesitant to order chicken breast (I much prefer the thigh meat) because the breast is usually dry, unless it's been brined. This one had been brined and was delicious. Juicy, tender, and succulent. Yum. Great flavor and great texture. The brining also brought up the salt content to a good level in this dish. The shaved Brussels sprouts hash accompanying it was also good, with the pancetta lardons adding some needed salt. My wife had the special pasta dish with a meat ragú, and it was good. The only thing keeping it from being great was a little salt. She also wanted to add some black pepper. There's no salt or pepper on the table though, and it was a busy night. The server took some time to return so we could ask for the needed pepper, so she ate a good bit of the dish without them. In fact, being a little short on salt was somewhat of a theme for the night. We had the cottage cake for dessert. It was a great blend of flavors and very appealing. But it could have used a tiny touch of salt to enhance the sweetness. Oh well. The kitchen needs consider a very slight increase in salt pretty much across the menu board (except with the brined chicken). The only other misstep we had was my small side salad. It came out with an ugly rotten lettuce leaf, which I gratefully noticed after my first bite. But that also meant a long wait for the return of our server to correct the error. Once the staff came back and was notified of the bad lettuce, they were quick to apologize and correct it (and remove it from the bill). All that was well done. The thing is, that bad lettuce should have never left the kitchen in the first place. And the first (bad) salad had already received a hit of black pepper, but the server never offered nor came back with black pepper for the corrected salad. And the delay until I could tell someone of the problem in the first place was long, to the point that half my chicken was eaten by then. In fact, I didn't finish more than about half the side salad because it came too late into the meal. On a super positive note, there was live music when we went. And it was a superb duet. Not just any unknown duet either, but rather the renowned Deseo Carmin. Wow! Kudos to the restaurant for providing such high quality live entertainment. The staff was also very accomodating in moving us from a two top near the door to a four top near the performance area. I needed to move because the frigid air entering every time the door opened was wreaking havoc on my leg that had just recently had surgery. They deserve kudos for being happy to move us. So, we are fans and will return. I see we will have to follow them on Facebook to be in the know about the live music coming up. Done! And we must come back and try weekend brunch. The place is soooooo close to being five stars. A tiny pinch more salt. A little quicker/more aware and attentive service. It's not knock you over wow amazing by any means, but it's good. But prices are pretty high for relatively small portions, and execution isn't always flawless by any means. The main menu is divided into Smalls, Shares, Mains, and Specials. I tried the 183rd Street Pie from the Smalls menu. It was good, but it had some serious issues. It's a chicken (apparently this changes at the chef's whim) pot pie type of dish with no side or bottom crust. In fact, it just had a small piece of crust floated on the top, and that piece was neither crumbly/crisp nor browned. I heard the server comment to another patron who got the same thing at about the same time that they realized the crust had no browning and they were "working on it" to fix it in the future. Hmmm. This dish was basically a stew--or even pushing towards a thick soup--in consistency. Taste was fine, but it wasn't a very impressive dish. And it was small. Really small. So much so that I told the server I did not order soup when it first came out. I guess it was on the Smalls section of the menu. But at $11, I expected better execution and a larger size. I decided to have dessert, given the small size of the pot pie. I had the Varietal Chocolate Torte. It was a splendid dish to look at, but it was a little bit dry and lacking in deep chocolate flavor. I probably would not order it again. Service was good. Friendly and helpful. This place has much potential, but I feel it has not hit its stride yet. We'll give it another try for dinner or breakfast (this was lunch) and see how it goes. read more

Nothing special and our food came out cold We had their bread pudding for dessert. Was ok, good flavor but dry. Discovered them while trying to find something different for takeout in Bothell. They're menu is extensive with lots of tasty variety. The reason I'm most impressed by them is their willingness to upgrade their fall veggie wrap to vegan with impossible added. Even better yet, they suggested their vegan kofta (impossible meatballs with quinoa and light curry spices). They weren't annoyed by my special request, very gracious! I picked up my order curbside, it didn't take long and they delivered my order in a beautiful bag, masked up and socially distanced payment. Then, I ate the upgraded fall wrap and OMG friggin delicious!!! Probably the best veggie wrap I've ever had! This review is for brunch. I can't believe I have not given a vote to this lovely place yet. How long has it been open, 3-4 years now? It has always been my stop for a latte. Sometimes with a seasonal baked good from a local bakery, Salmonberry Goods. And sometimes, like today, I am hungry for full breakfast. Conveniently located in downtown Bothell just 2 blocks from the Bothell Landing. Perfect for a little detour from the Sammamish River trail. I was hungry but forgot my credit card. I saw the owner/manager chatting with customers on the patio, so I asked her if the restaurant accepts Apple Pay. "Of course!" That seals the deal. I wish all restaurants and cafe all accepts phone pay. AND Yelp should include it in the filter. The ambience is county chic with lots of warmth. I sat by the fireplace before. But today I sat at the bar because the place was packed at 11. My food was delicious: medium latte and kale and bacon quiche. The latte is perfect as it always is. And the quiche is right portion for me. I saw people next to me ordered open face steak sandwich and croque madame. They look delicious. Must try them next time. The service is a little slow - almost always. It's not a fast food joint and I am OK with that. Just more time to enjoy life. The price is a little high for the portion. Hence the 4 stars.
