Wraps are at $15 these days but they're pretty hefty. Overall, a solid takeout lunch spot as they don't have any tables, just a bench outside. Looks like they do fresh juices and smoothies, as well.

It was an order at the counter setup, and included a small menu of prepared foods, a robust baked goods spread, and beverages aplenty. I didn't really need a donut, but their Mexican chocolate donut was unbelievably good, delivering pure chocolate notes without some of the oily off tastes that low quality donuts bring, and a tantalizing mix of sugar and spice on top. It was a great combination with a plain matcha; wacky matcha flavors are all the rage, but straight matcha (and oat milk) side by side with a dynamic sweet flavor is a good way of getting to the same gustatory pleasure. A salad had some nice thinly shaved vegetables and quite a mix of greens. I might like to see them get deeper into the vegan protein game with some tofu or other bean-based option, but the variety of delicious things they did had would be enough to get me to come back.

We stayed at 21 Broad which is across the street, and I was pleasantly surprised with this establishment. There was a great amount of indoor and outdoor seating, which is rare! Most cafes offer a few tiny tables and force customers to fend for seating on their own, so this was a nice change! I went in to pick up lunch for the beach and everything we ate was amazing! I was extremely impressed with the jar of salad. I chose the one with sweet potato and black beans and it was Excellent! Comparable to sweet green! They provided a to-go box so later at the beach I dumped the jar of salad into the box and was good to go! The dressing sits at the bottom of the jar immersed in a vegetable that won't wilt and is evenly dispersed when pouring out. I was very much pleasantly surprised by this, because we have all had bland/boring/overpriced salads and this was 180 degrees opposite! We also had the side of chicken salad, which was fresh and tasty. There were herbs mixed in so it had a fresher/healthier taste than your average chicken salad which is generally drenched in mayo and mixed with stale veggies. Last, we had "the puritan" sandwich which was turkey/cranberry etc. It was great for a pre-made to-go sandwich but definitely not as amazing as a fresh deli sandwich from Something Natural. We didn't have coffee or pastries but those looked amazing! I will absolutely be back! read more

And it was PACKED when I visited, so I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were a major letdown. I ordered the breakfast bowl, and for the price, it tasted like a pretty basic microwave meal. The eggs had that watery/sweaty texture you get from reheated food, the sausage tasted like a microwaved frozen patty, and I'm pretty sure the salsa was straight out of a Pace/Tostinos jar. Even the jalapeños were the pickled kind rather than fresh. For the price point, I expected something fresher and more thoughtfully prepared. I also ordered a shaken espresso, specifically because I wanted something coffee-forward with just a little milk. Instead, mine was overwhelmingly milky and barely tasted like espresso. Definitely not what I was hoping for. One other thing that really bothered me was the setup around the utensils -- the straws and forks were positioned right next to what appeared to be dirty/used water from the sanitation area. It just wasn't particularly appetizing or confidence-inspiring. I'm honestly surprised this place has such a strong local following because the experience just didn't live up to the hype for me. The garden is lovely and the atmosphere has potential, but at these prices, I expect significantly better food, drinks, and attention to cleanliness.

My Seasonal Vegetable Scramble was fresh and delicious, and the toast was really good. The hash browns were probably the best part, though. We also got the Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, and those might honestly be some of the best pancakes I've ever had. They were SO good. My biggest complaints are the size of the restaurant and the prices. It's incredibly small inside, and because it's so popular, you may have to wait a little bit to get seated. That itself isn't a huge issue, but the bar seating is so incredibly uncomfortable, and it honestly made the experience less enjoyable. The prices are also pretty ridiculous. My vegetable scramble was $26, which is insane to me. I completely understand that you're on an island and things are going to be more expensive, but $26 for a vegetable scramble is kind of crazy. I'm more likely to order the fish sandwich, which I've had two or three times from Crosswinds. And yes, I would get it again! I usually get it with sweet potato fries because once you throw some salt on there, they are delicious. Last time, our waiter even brought me two containers of tartar sauce. He knows what the people want. That is another thing I love about Crosswinds: that one waiter. I always know I am going to be well-served if he is taking care of my table. My cup will never empty, he will keep it topped off. Any request will be granted and granted promptly. He makes friendly conversation but it is not too much.
