A standup spot for breakfast and I've heard great things about lunch. The place is cute inside - basic but still has good vibes. Parking lot is a bit of a shit show since it's usually crowded. The fried egg sandwich at $12ish, while expensive was large and delicious. Freshly made eggs, bacon and American cheese on an English muffin. The coffee was strong. And while it was crowded everything came out quick. Overall, a great option for a casual yet delicious coffee shop style breakfast and/or lunch. read more

Good coffee. No matcha. Delicious smoothie. Perfect breakfast sandwiches. We came during a brunch time rush but the line moved quickly. Seating was full but we waited until a table opened up. Coffee was okay. I will search for better coffee. Food was on point!! Croissant with egg, cheese, and bacon was a hit! The 45 breakfast sandwich; eggs and bacon on sourdough. Yum! Breakfast burrito with eggs, chorizo and potatoes was very filling. The place had Cholula and sriracha!! That's a sign of a winner for me! We are already planning to get açaí bowls and salads next time. And definitely more smoothies!! read more

Even though 45 Surfside is within walking distance of our home, and it's been open for years, we'd never been there. My husband picked up an espresso and 2 breakfast sandwiches. There are quite a few seats inside, but he said none were available. $12 is a lot for a breakfast sandwich, but it was very large and delicious--the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. In a review, someone complained about parking, and that was an issue today. I'm looking forward to trying more breakfast sandwiches and the lunch sandwiches too. Being on the way to Surfside Beach and right across the street from the high school, I imagine they're doing well. read more

It's so upbeat there every time I walk in! I make sure I have enough time to sit and relax and watch the people come and go with their beachy garb. read more

Updating my review -- I visited this cafe twice on my latest trip to Nantucket... the first visit wasn't perfect, but I added additional shots of espresso to my latte and it worked like a charm! The large ended up having a good balance of flavor with a third espresso shot added in. It's kind of an overwhelming amount of caffeine to intake just to achieve the balanced taste, and I think it was about $10 for this one drink, but the flavor was great! I will return on my next trip. read more

The best sandwiches on the island! This place is very busy as it is very popular! I came back multiple times during my stay on the island. Highly recommend. read more

45 Surfside Bakery and Cafe - Tom Brady sandwich with tomatoes and pickles! - Cafes Near Me - Nantucket, Massachusetts

The perfect mid island brunch spot! Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing. My husband and his friends get the burrito from here multiple times during our trip and say it can't be beat! The staff is very quick and it's an adorable little shop both inside and out! read more

This is probably the only time you'll hear this Angeleno say "the Brady" was AWESOME. This turkey sandwich comes with herbed aioli and greens. The bread has a great texture and is fluffy. ICED LATTE and HOT LATTE are good and they use the beans from a local roaster, Nantucket Roastery. The STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE was filling and refreshing. There is no line to order because the cashier is fast. There's a full staff behind tue counter so you don't have to wait for your food and drinks too long. The indoor eating area is cozy and air conditioned. There are plenty chairs and tables outdoor. They have merch!!! read more

Music is always a vibe, the 45 Breakfast Sammie slays, and the icy Surfside is hands down the best!!! I absolutely love it here. It's the perfect getaway from the usual downtown Nantucket scene. It feels more like a cozy, normal-person coffee shop. I come every day off! read more

45 Surfside Bakery and Cafe - 45 Breakfast Sammie Icy Surfside - Cafes Near Me - Nantucket, Massachusetts

This is an excellent bakery we've been to every year since it opened. This review is for this year only. We tried once in the low season and again in the very busy season around Fourth of July this year. Staff were clearly a little bit overwhelmed during the busy season, but of course, that's not their fault. You order from the left and middle lines, pick up from the far right. At first, we chalked it up to island humidity, but croissants are consistently more bready than a proper French croissant, more like Italian cornetti, but quite enjoyable in their own right. (We've tried all of them numerous times: plain, chocolate, and ham and cheese, and almond -- wonderfully filled with marzipan!) Muffins have in our experience been well made with high quality ingredients, e.g. good butter. Coffee is very lightly roasted, enjoyable for those who enjoy that style. (I like it a touch more roasted, but that's just me.) There's a good amount of seating indoors and out, but given the cafe's popularity, be aware that tables go fast. From prior experience, custom made cakes are just lovely. And dinner is now on offer. (We haven't yet tried.) It's very difficult to turn in and out of the parking lot in the high season. Please be careful of pedestrians and cyclists, Friends. read more

I love this place. They always have the best food & friendliest service. Mathias makes the BEST coffee on island. I stop by here whenever I am driving by & see there's parking available. read more

I've been here a few times now and their food, coffee, and pastries are really good. The chocolate chip cookies, chicken ranch wrap, and all of the smoothies are in particular amazing. Probably the best place I've found for smoothies although they are on the sweet side. The only things I didn't care for were the blueberry muffin (too salty) and the BEC on a croissant (too greasy and WAY too much egg). But I will be looking forward to trying more things. The people behind the counter are nice and efficient and they get things out pretty quickly despite the rush. read more

The food is delicious. Low key spot. Close to the beach as well. The only complaint we could have is that it isn't open for dinner.

It is a really good restaurant and cafe I go here a lot and there smoothie are really good

Update: I Just learned the fly issue was due to a construction project happening. Hopefully you will experience a fly free café on your visit which would have improved my impression. Definitely still worth a visit and I would try a variety of items to find something you like. Cute little spot off of Surfside Road. We were able to walk to visit each morning and enjoyed some of the different breakfast items. Nothing was outstanding but everything was good. We enjoyed the smoothies, croissants and burritos. We did really enjoy the carrot bread and would recommend that over most other things we purchased. Coffee was ok but that is personal preference. Interior is clean and bright but the number of flies inside is so concerning and off putting. Its hard to enjoy a meal. Hope they can figure out how to keep the flies outside. If your are passing by or close by worth a stop. read more

Nice casual environment. They have coffee, tea, drinks & breakfast items. Would definitely return.

The other morning, I got their breakfast burrito and it was so delicious. I have been a long time patron of the cafe and one of their strongest suits is either if you get a burrito for breakfast or one of their pizzas for lunch, they not only know how to cook their food, obviously, but you can tell the difference with the quality of the ingredients they use. Unfortunately, there are too many places on Nantucket that'll assume that since it's Nantucket, you have a " captive audience ", you can just put it together any old way without caring and can charge whatever they want. On their pizzas, there is literally no grease. Other places on the island, you can do an oil change on your car. This place is a definite treat. read more

I really like the breakfast burrito that 45 puts out. It's got everything I like for breakfast all cooked to perfection and wrapped up nicely. I can only eat half and I save the other for the next day. The pastry is hit or miss that's why only 4 stars the cinnamon buns are really good coffee cake was pretty dry. My wife and daughter really like the coffee as well. The staff is very friendly and the establishment is really clean and well kept. Plenty of off street parking close to wave bus stop so if your in the mood for a great snack jump off at the muse stop on surfside and you are there. read more

We had a last minute end of season multi family member birthday weekend and I needed a CAKE FAST! Got referred to 45 Surfside! Heaven sent! An unbelievable chocolate chocolate chocolate creation was unveiled at the precise moment! The best looking, best tasting cake I've ever had in 76.5 years of cakes. AND -- Bonus -- 5 birthday names all spelled correctly in absolutely beautiful script along with Happy Birthday. Rebecca -- Thank you! Please Please -- never leave the island!! Also -- great service. read more

Underwhelmed by the service. There is no interaction or emotion from the people behind the counter. They act like they are doing you a favor. When I asked for something the girl turned to me and said "what do you want". Need to work on customer service and congeniality. I'll be going somewhere else for breakfast. read more

The Birthday Cake that I ordered from chef Rebecca Moesinger and her team was so delicious and gorgeous looking Cake, it was the Black Forest Torte the flavors were just right lots of chocolate and cherries...ohhh just so delish! Great spot for breakfast sandwiches and iced coffees. But Like most places on island, understaffed and overpriced. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes + for a an egg and cheese. Unfortunately online ordering seems to be for delivery only. If they were to take carry out orders online, it would drastically improve experience and covid exposure risk. For sense of pricing: Smoothies are around $10, closer to $15 if you get protein and matcha mixed in. Bit ridiculous but read more

I sent an email with a picture for my small wedding cake. (We eloped) They we're easy to work with and when the topper I ordered by mail came in and was the wrong one, they had a beautiful plan B. Great bakery located near surfside beach good breakfast sandwiches and lunch speciality. Coffee is delicious

I am not the type of person who takes the time to review things, but the pastries here are too good for people to not know about. This morning I purchased some muffins, croissants, chocolate croissants, and a cinnamon bun for an office I was visiting. I only tasted the chocolate croissant and it was as good as ones I've picked up in Paris. This prices were also amazing. I was expecting to pay a lot more for everything and was pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to come back and try something off the menu. read more

This beautiful, spacious bakery is run by equally beautiful women. Rebecca and her daughter Portia serve up the best cakes in town, excellent carrot cake, coffee cake, delicious sandwiches and a darn good cup of coffee. They serve lots of other great things, too--these are just the ones I've tried. The ambiance will lure you to sit and stay awhile. One of the best features is that it's outside of town and there's a parking lot. If you haven't tried it yet, you must! read more

Absolutely delicious at below island prices. Friendly staff, tons of seating (air conditioned and outside) and almost suspiciously not crowded. Will probably come back every day I'm here. read more

Ordered a bday cake while we were on the island. It was incredibly beautiful and tasted fabulous (very moist). Will order from here again next year for sure. read more

Wonderful sandwiches and pastries but coffee is simply terrible, mainly because baristas don't know what they are doing and make it so hot that it turns bitter and undrinkable. They need to hire people who know how to make coffee properly or at least provide better training. Would be a 5 star if it wasn't for this because food is great! read more

2 hour wait for mediocre food.. do not recommend to sit and wait inside this place instead of enjoying a beach day

So excited to have stopped into 45 Surfside Bakery & Cafe today. What a charming, bright sunny spot. The absolute best breakfast food on the island (for what they serve). It's cafeteria style - order at front to go or eat in at tables with silverware and plates. Sandwiches are about $10/each and all are AMAZING. The pastries are AMAZING. If you want a restaurant, it's not the place to go. But for takeout breakfast, this is by far the BEST BEST BEST choice. I LOVE this place. LOVE IT. read more

This is my Friday morning coffee treat to myself every week. I love it so much. I highly recommend the latte, it is perfection hot or iced! If you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast, get the breakfast burrito; it'll keep you satisfied and full all day. I've had their food for lunch as well and it is delicious. The buffalo chicken wrap is so tasty and so is the BLT. The staff is always so friendly, even when the line wraps around the building. read more

We got a cake from 45 Surfside for my parent's 50th anniversary. Wowzer. First, it was beautifully decorated but more importantly it was the most delicious cake I've ever had. I don't have a sweet tooth but I've had my share of cakes in life and this is hands down the best. We got the Strawberry Grand Marnier and the cake was so light, the filling perfectly sweet, and there was just enough decadent chocolate to feel special but not excessive. My waistline is grateful, but I'm so sad that we're off island and I can't spend the rest of this summer trying every other cake in the menu. I can't wait to get back and try out more of this amazing place. read more

Can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews! It's a little gem. While the baked goods looked fantastic we stopped here for lunch while tooling around the island. It's a relatively new business which is bright and clean with lots of parking. We had sandwiches that came with super crunchy homemade chips. The food was made fresh and done well. The flavor combos for the sandwiches are a bit different but terrific; sweet potatoes on grilled cheese? As odd as it sounds it works well. Last and in many cases most important on such an expensive island, the prices are extremely reasonable. read more
