The Rescue Cafe - Gluten Free Sugar Cookie

    The Rescue Cafe

I recently visited Rescue Cafe in Fairhaven for the first time and it was such a cute spot. I'm not…read moresuper familiar with the area but came to support a friend who started a coffee book club and this ended up being the perfect place for it. First things first, the iced latte was exactly what I needed. As someone who runs on iced coffee year round, this one definitely hit the mark. I also tried a gluten free cookie that the owner personally recommended and it was delicious. Always appreciate when someone can point you in the right direction with gluten free options. The whole vibe of the cafe is cozy and welcoming with lots of cute places to sit, read and hang out for a while. Perfect for catching up with friends or opening a book and pretending you're in your "main character at a coffee shop" era. They also have smoothies, great snacks and a small selection of items from local artisans which makes it even more fun to browse while you're there. If I lived closer, this would absolutely be one of those spots I'd pop into regularly for a latte and a quiet moment. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Fairhaven area.

The shop is super big with lots of cozy seating to sit and relax and enjoy the day. It's such a unique shop and I love their decor and the vibe. I love that they also have items for sale by local small businesses and do small pop events too. They have monthly specials that are always yummy and I cannot explain how good their fall donuts are. I def have dreams about them. The staff is super sweet and I always love talking to them. I cannot stress enough how you should check out this spot. Who doesn't love a place that gives back to animals?

We also loved the OG Smash burger, the chicken tenders, tater tots, pesto grilled cheese and salad. What a great place to stop by before/after you board the Martha's Vineyard ferry.

It is such an anomaly to find a cafe that is open past 5:00pm, and it was exciting to see that Pie in the Sky stays open later for the perfect after dinner coffee or tea treat. The inside of the shop is cozy and warm, and there's ample seating both indoors and on the outdoor patio. They roast all their beans in house (peep the giant machine inside to prove it!), and the pastries are baked fresh daily- nothing random lying around in cases for days on end like some other spots I've visited. My coffee was flavorful and strong, and the accompanying blueberry muffins had a tasty streusel topping. It made for a nice light evening snack, and also a welcome respite from needing to go hang out at a bar after dinner just because nothing else is open. Service was prompt and friendly, there was a short line, but the team kept everything moving. It is definitely a popular pre and post ferry spot due to its proximity to the docks, and you will want to add Pie in the Sky to your list if you ever find yourself in Woods Hole and wanting coffee after 5pm!
