I find this spot a little expensive, but i know they take paying their staff well very seriously. I think that is nice of them to do. It shows they really value who works there. I have gone a few times. I run a coffee Instagram so I'll try to get there if I see a posted daily special. Sadly, on more than one instance, they have sold out of specialty beverages before the day's end and I wish they put that up. When you drive 30 min to get there and they are sold out of what you wanted, it's a bit of a bummer. I have enjoyed the breakfasts and coffees I've had before though! Avocado toast was surprisingly packed with the perfect balance of salty and sour with the like juice and feta. My friends' food was what they described as good, you're average breakfast food. Definitely a little expensive for the portions you get, but coffee and matcha were decent, and service was very kind. Great community ambiance as well there! read more

Crazy fun - Crazy Options - wicked cool take home stuff from their market. Went for a breakfast / Bruch with my adult kids. The store front and restaurant are bright - inviting - clean - funky and really-really good. You won't be disappointed - you definitely will be taking treats home and then walking around Padanaram is always a fun way to walk off your meal. It's good...very good and you should go. read more

We were on an overnight trip to Fall River from Cape Cod earlier this month and made a breakfast stop at Scuttlebutt at the recommendation of our friends at Tandem Coffee Roasters in Portland, Maine. What a delightful location and vibe, even during the off-season! Service was cheerful and prompt, and our egg sandwiches were delicious. The coffee (and tea for my wife) were excellent. As a bonus, the music played added to the hip vibe. Deer Tick's "Friday the 13th" was a perfect accompaniment. My husband and I went for a bit the other morning. I have to say... I have NEVER had an egg sandwich that was perfect. They took the time to brown the cheese perfect (real cheese) , the home made bagel was spot on.... The ham had the right amount of clove added when cooked and the egg was baked in a pan which I was a bit concerned about (yes a first world problem) but it was cooked perfectly as well. Limited hours, menu & service and expensive. Nice decor, but they add 18% automatically. They're open like 4 half days a week, but they leave the lights on so I thought they were open. Also you enter through the deck, not the door where you walk up. Folks hang out on their laptops or with their dogs on the deck. They unsmilingly served me a bitter cortada with oat milk after I asked whether it was similar to a cortadito, a Cuban coffee with condensed milk. Yuck! No food on the menu appealed to me, and I thought everything was overpriced. Normally, I eat almost everything and frequently pay high prices happily for good espresso or food, but this small village café was very disappointing. read more

We had a very complex venue and they didn't bat an eye with any of our requests. I was determined to find a caterer who would do family style, which is harder to find than you might think. So I swung in to work on some school work and get a bite to eat. I told the person at the counter I was new to the area and had never been there. They were very helpful and explained the menu, the coffee and made some recommendations. I placed my order and meandered out to the patio where I expected to wait a bit since the place was busy. To my surprise my sandwich was ready in maybe five minutes and was delicious. Crispy backs and pre-cooked scrambled egg that was perfectly square which is very smart as usually scrambled eggs fall all over the place. It's a family friendly atmosphere where they make you feel like you are there for more than just the food & drinks (which are just as amazing as the atmosphere, fwiw). If you want standard coffee shop fare where you are treated no differently than the average product they churn out, there are plenty of chains in the area. If you're ok waiting a few extra seconds in line because the person at the register is catching up with the barista; or you're ok waiting a few extra minutes for your food because of the care that goes into each plate, Scuttlebutt is your jam. read more

I love this place! The food is delicious and lovingly made and the drinks are fantastic. I love that they apply the 18% admin fee in lieu of tipping. Takes the pressure off you as a customer when leaving a tip and guarantees the staff is paid equitably for their labor. I was so so excited to try this place out! I just moved here and it's literally right down the street. Super cute inside and the service was great but the food...not so much. First of all, it was EXPENSIVE. I got a breakfast sandwich and potatoes and it was $18. They have an 18% automatic admin fee that replaces tipping and while I'm all for tipping as I work in the service industry for tips, when you force me to do that large of a tip for a takeout order, you can't expect me to be happy about it when it was over double what I would typically tip. I got home and on the bright side, it was piping hot. I opened the sandwich and it was burnt to a crisp. The biscuit, the cheese, everything. It was so burnt it was hard on the corners that I had to cut them off. On top of it, the bacon was so sweet that it threw off the balance of the rest of the sandwich. The potatoes were seasoned with spices, but they lacked salt and were grainy like they hadn't been cooked thoroughly. I really wanted to enjoy this breakfast especially because it's just a quick walk down the street but sadly I didn't. I don't mind paying more for good food, but when I had to pay so much for a burnt sandwich and undercooked potatoes, I can't justify the price. I sincerely hope this was just a one time bad experience, but it was such a bad experience I don't even feel it's worth it to try it again. read more

This is a super cute coffee shop in a new location that has prime patio seating. They serve Tandem coffee roasted in Portland, ME. It's super cute inside and they sell Tandem beans for home as well as some cute Scuttlebutt coffee and water bottles. This past weekend I tried an iced latte and their breakfast pizza. I'd give their coffee another chance, it tasted a little sour. Not sure if it's the flavor profile of the espresso beans or how it's roasted. It personally wasn't my favorite but I'd give them a try again. I'll probably try regular iced coffee next time. Breakfast pizza was really good, I'd get that again. Food menu changes and is always inventive. It didn't look like there were many gluten free options this past weekend, which would factor in if we go next time since my husband has celiac. The staff at Scuttlebutt are friendly, professional, very courteous and very helpful! The food and drinks are always made with creativity and talent, and I find their pricing to be quite reasonable and what I expect from a lovely establishment like this. I greatly appreciate the automatic addition of the "service charge" and think it should be higher - I believe theirs is at 18% but it should be at 20%. The best place in the region for breakfast or lunch, and they have pretty incredible Friday dinners as well (dinner reservations are a must, which tells you something). If you appreciate places that have real ambition with their offerings, and where the staff is clearly treated well and feels pride/ownership of the product, this is a place to check out. Particularly impressed with how often the menu changes, and the overall quality of the menu. They could, if they wanted, coast along as a village cafe offering the same cozy range of favorites... but Scuttlebutt seems to always be setting their sights higher. Wednesday is to go breakfast brought to work up the street. I love the breakfast sandwich on their sourdough instead of a bun, add smashed avocado. Also a big fan whenever they do an overnight oats or chia pudding. Always so delicious. really love the vibe of this place and the menu! a great mix of savory and sweet, high quality ingredients, great coffee drinks which are not easy to find in this area (especially a good flat white that is done right without too much milk). I do wish they served their dine-in orders on plates or trays instead of using to go containers with bags and paper / foil, but perhaps it was just an off day as the person taking orders was not asking whether or not they were for dine in or take out -- seemed like everyone was getting a bag and extra packaging. in any case, this is definitely one of the best places on the entire south coast of MA if not THE best!! read more
