I love mirasols so much but I miss what it used to be like! Bring back the old breakfast quesadillas, and the chicken ones that came with sides versus paying for them. I also miss the cranberry white chocolate chip cookies and the cozy seating. I love that the chippis and fancy big cookies remained and I adore all the new merch. I love trying the new flavors of Chippi. My go to is pistachio. The best way to describe the flavor of the Chippi itself is like a melted coffee ice cream. I'm not much of a coffee fanatic- and I love it. It is very sweet and creamy- I love how customizable it is! This location is almost always busy. But the employees always have a smile on their face. I personally love the outdoor pickup window option. Not many other small businesses have their own app where you can order to-go and gain rewards points with every order! I've gotten food here in the past- it's similar to a Panera vibe when it comes to the foods, with fresh sandwiches / salads. Today was my second time visiting Mirasol's. The first time, I tried the Chippi, which I would describe as basically coffee milk, but still good. It is their signature drink, everyone was either trying a sample of it or ordering it in cups or jugs. I decided to try their Cubano hot sandwich today. It was okay. Decent portion to save for later. Ingredients were fresh, but nothing outstanding. There was a huge line, but it moved pretty quickly. Staff was friendly. The only downside is that the parking is tricky. New ownership has completely taken the "soul" out of Mirasol. When the pandemic hit, everyone had to shift their businesses significantly, and I get that. And I know that new management means changes, but I've given this place a few honest tries and it just feels so sad every time, Mirasol used to be one of the most creative places in the region to eat lunch, a warm unique community meeting spot. Now it's a generic mediocre place with a totally unwelcoming vibe. You snake through the Disney land style line and order from a reduced menu and then bite into a disappointing sandwich. I got the chicken sandwich recently, this used to be called "the Peruana," seasoned grilled chicken with crispy fresh greens and a slightly spicy jalapeño crema on a crispy and chewy baguette. Now it's a flat bland chicken strip on a soggy hoagie roll. The spicy asparagus with Gouda on a baguette was the most unique vegetarian lunch option for miles! They've replaced it with a sloppy grilled cheese with spinach in it. So sad! The staff is good, they all seem really nice, but they are shoved behind a huge gray counter and are peering out through random racks of CHiPPi branded merch. It's just sad. The creativity is gone. I visited this place with my friend who lives in New Bedford. She said her friends love the Chippi, which I considered ordering but I'm glad I didn't. I sampled it and it was WAY too sweet for my liking. More akin to melted coffee ice cream than iced coffee as others have mentioned. If you like a hint of coffee with your cream and sugar then you'll probably like this. I opted for the Cuban espresso. I was excited because I haven't seen it on a menu anywhere in Massachusetts. I first tried Cuban coffee in Miami three years ago and have been longing for it ever since, but it seems impossible to find in the Northeast. I'm not sure how authentically Cuban the espresso was - seems like the only distinction between this and their regular espresso is the sugar added to the Cuban espresso. In any case, the espresso was smooth and strong but not at all bitter. Whatever beans they use are top-notch quality. I also tried an apple crisp cookie which was very tasty. In addition to baked goods, they have breakfast and lunch menus which looked appetizing. I definitely want to come back next time I'm in the area. read more

The ambiance also makes you want to stay there to drink coffee and socialize, but due to the small size of the building - it makes you want to leave because you feel confined in a small place with a large amount of people. This was my first visit to the new Mirasol's since the remodel and takeover. It did not go well. Somehow my Gaucho breakfast without cheese was transcribed to "Leave off the bacon and bread". I asked for a remake and 15 minutes later, realized the overworked kitchen staff was behind filling online orders. My first hint should have been all the merch taking up seating space. If you're not picking up at the takeout window, don't bother. The Starbucks at Target has more flair. They still charged me $2.59 for a coffee that I no longer wanted and kept the "non-refundable" 20% tip. $6 for a cup of coffee from a staff that clearly didn't want me to come back. I'm not going to lie, I miss the way this place used to be. The atmosphere just isn't the same. I've been coming here for years. And they have always been so quick & efficient. They are extremely efficient with their new set up, but at the expense of the feeling customers used to get coming here. This place is locally famous for their chippi, and thank goodness that hasn't changed. Their food & drinks have somewhat changed, and I feel the quality has gone downhill. I personally used to love their sandwiches & quesadillas as well as their mocha iced latte. Last time I came in, the latte just tasted way too syrupy, and was mediocre at best. The atmosphere is just not welcoming and warm anymore. The decor & colors they used to have inside was just so cute & people loved it. It used to be vibrant. They had way more space for seating, especially being near a college, it used to be a place where A LOT of people could gather with their friends, family, or just to study. Now they have standard seating, and the line formation takes up pretty much the whole cafe. I get that they are a very busy business, but it feels like they don't want their customers to stay after they order and get their drinks/food. Coming here used to be an experience, but now it just feels like your run of the mill cafe with little seating & a mediocre atmosphere. I'm not writing here to complain solely about decor because that should not matter. But people do come to cafes for an experience, otherwise they would just go next door to Starbucks or Dunkin. It just does not give the same feel. I feel like after I ordered I was rushed out, and it feels like they care more about getting as many orders out as quickly and efficiently as possible, rather than having a welcoming customer service experience. I come here every time I'm in the area or if I'm really craving a chippi. Honestly, their chippi is the only thing this place has going for them in my opinion. It's super good. They don't tell you what's in it because it's a secret, but trust me it's amazing. However, this place has AWFUL service. It's like they know what they have going for them, so they feel as though they can treat the customers however they want. All the women that run the front don't care about the consumer. There's no "hello" or "how are you doing". You get up to the counter and it's "are you getting anything to drink" then you get to the register they ask "anything else?" You never feel welcome here. Also, this place is super expensive. They also charge you for less ice and more of a charge for no ice which I can see is a smart business move, but you don't see other places doing it. Rumors of an incredible iced coffee-like-beverage compelled me to drive over an hour these last few weeks to Dartmouth, MA. This drink of legends is called the CHIPPI. While I didn't hear about the CHIPPI until recently, let's just say that I 100% understand the hype now. The drink on it's own is 5/5 stars. What is the CHIPPI you might ask? It essentially functions as an iced coffee, except the feel and taste is closer to that of melted coffee ice cream. The texture of the drink is velvety smooth and sweet. I took one sip and knew I was hooked. It's that good that it's that dangerous if you're a coffee person. I didn't even take a picture it was gone so quickly. I ordered the CHIPPI online but after tasting it decided that I needed a half gallon to go. (Oh yes, the drink has such a cult following that half gallons and gallons are available to go!) However, Mirasol's is not a secret to the local community, so the line inside was quite long. The team is friendly and it moves quicker than you'd expect, but if you want to order food then you will have to wait in it. I grabbed a black bean and corn quesadilla along with my half gallon of CHIPPI for the road. (FYI, they have the regular CHIPPI and the CHIPPI light made with Splenda instead of sugar. I only tried the regular one, but I'll give the light one a try next time to see how it compares.) I wished I lived closer so I could go back more regularly. The treatment my sister and I received today ruined this shop for me. Whenever I came back home from LA. My sister and I would make the 45 minute drive to grab Chippis and cookies because it's soo good! The staff is always kind to us too! Today is a different story.. My sister and I made our normal 45 minute drive to make it here before they close at 2pm today. We approached the store and there were a couple of girls in front of us just a few feet away and this blond curly hairs girl at the door let them in. THE MOMENT SHE SAW MY SISTER AND I APPROACH SHE DID NOT LET US IN! We asked why and she kept saying "we're closed" I understand that you close at 2pm today. BUT WHY WOULD YOU PROCEED TO LET THE OTHER WHITE CUSTOMERS IN AND NOT USS!!?? This is where I'm taken aback and really upset. If she did this to the other customers before us, then I'd understand and be ok and happily return another time, BUT SHE ALLOWED THE OTHER CUSTOMERS IN AND NOT MY SISTER AND I. THAT is why I am upset, this leads me to clearly see DISCRIMINATION. I put a post on my IG page and it was seen with no response too. THIS is why I have to give my 1 star here, all the other times I've been here my sister and I were treated soooo welll, and that meant a lot to us ESPECIALLY during these critical times of injustices.
