We were on our way to check out Ream's Market, a 25 minute little road-trip, and decided to have lunch here. Busy place, good food, pleasant and cute. Not much room inside as it was over 90 degrees and not pleasant to be outside. Both the chicken salad sandwich and Thai salad were really good, fresh ingredients, tasty. We were a bit bummed - my husband wanted his sandwich in a baguette and they were out, although was not yet rush hour lunch. I order the Thai salad because I'm both menus (online and in the store) states that it has edamame, it did not. The place was nice, service was good, and it was the highlight of our mini road trip (Ream's was a let down)

This cafe and sandwich shop was a nice discovery while out in Elburn today. I really like the bread they use for their sandwiches. It's a simple sub or baguette but it has a great chew that just made me devour the one that I ordered. I got the Yardbird which comes with a tasty herby chicken salad, bacon, lettuce and tomato. The sandwich was super tasty and they didn't skimp on the chicken salad. Also ordered an iced vanilla latte which was good. The service was great. They just do counter orders and the friendly barista had my drink out fast and the sandwich a very short time after. The place is cozy but didn't feel cramped and I wouldn't have minded sticking around to eat if I wasn't in a rush to get back home. I'm definitely keeping the Corner Grind in mind next time I'm hungry out west.

Recently Corner Grind was sold to a restaurant conglomerate. I've been a customer since the previous owners opened it. Lately, it's gone to shit. I asked for the new owner's contact info when I was at Corner Grind a few weeks ago, wrote to them and never heard back. My main beef is that they are no longer making the CG signature home made glazed donuts. I was SO disappointed that day and while some of the changes such as the new tile behind the counter are nice, but that's not why people come in. I don't understand why you would change some of the reasons why customers come in to Corner Grind, namely the sweets. For the longest time I've been able to look forward to the donuts, almond bread, cinnamon rolls, and blackberry muffins and to know they're no longer part of the menu is so sad. When you go in nowYour coffee is amazing but what goes with coffee but a special, reliable, original home made sweet? The reason I'm writing today is because I stopped in again today to treat myself and again was very disappointed at the sweets selection. I don't care for scones so i chose the long john. Luke, I have to tell you it didn't look very pretty but I thought it would taste better. I was wrong. It was iced cold, like it had just been defrosted or taken out of the refrigerator. It was hard, stale, and flavorless. Now you know that just down the street Jewel makes their donuts daily and they're about 1/3 the price of yours. There's a Starbucks inside Jewel that will warm up their sweets and if I really want a treat, I can go to Cocoa Bean where their almond croissants are to die for. I haven't been to Dear Donuts yet, I want to patronize our Elburn businesses as much as possible but I must tell you you're giving me no other choice based on my last two visits. As one of the original Corner Grind customers, I don't want hot beef sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, or any other food that I have my other favorite restaurants for in the area. I want Corner Grind glazed donuts, cinnamon rolls and the almond bread. Your egg sandwich on a bagel is now close to $10 but this email isn't about prices. Yes, I'm just one customer but I would suspect there are more of us that are disappointed in the direction it appears you're taking our little townie bakery. I hope you want the feedback from locals and that you will reconsider bringing back what made you famous in the first place. It's the comfort factor, the feel (like the discarded hand drawn menu board) of the place, the home made sweets, and of course the coffee.

Nice place, nice people, coffee is fine, but they need to rethink the punk rock at 8:00 am. Not the best start to the day.

Tony and Ann would be so disappointed in what the new owners have done to Corner Grind. Profit over quality and service.

We already loved the food and atmosphere but Double Egg goes the extra mile. With how busy they were, we didn't have long of a wait. They said about 15 minutes give or take and I feel like it was less than that. We were seated in a booth and attended to fairly quickly. Quick enough that I barely got a chance to look at the menu and get ahold of my toddler. Our waitress gave us more time to check out what we wanted without us feeling rushed. Something I will always love at any restaurant is fresh squeezed juices. My favorite being orange juice, but they do have several others as well. The complimentary soup was delicious. Chicken and rice. I didn't think to order my toddler one because he can be fairly picky and I didn't want to waste it. Bad idea on my end apparently because I only got two bites -- while my toddler devoured the rest. I ordered a quart of the soup to go. SO glad that is an option! When our food arrived, which was fairly quickly in my opinion, my mom's was missing cheese. She brought it to our waitress's attention and her plate was immediately brought back with the missing cheese in place. I got the chilaquiles which were phenomenal. For those who are curious, the salsa verde that is used can be a little spicy for those with a more sensitive pallet. My toddler and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that the prices are very reasonable. When we were leaving, my mother and I were each handed a rose and told happy Mother's Day. This was the extra mile. Not only do they provide so many made-in-house options (fresh squeezed juice, etc), and complimentary soups; they knew that something so small as handing out single roses to mothers, could make a huge impact.. and they did it. For those of us that are single parent and have toddlers, such a small act of kindness really goes a long way. Thank you Double Egg for going the extra mile. We'll definitely be back again.

From the moment you step in, you're wrapped in traditional Scottish charm, classic décor, old-fashioned and beautiful tea sets, and a sense that time has politely slowed down. Service is proper, attentive, and gracious in that old-school way that makes the whole experience feel special. The classic three-tier tea was exactly what you hope for: savory bites, warm treats, and sweet indulgences. But let's talk about the scones, because they absolutely stole the show, crisp on the outside, buttery and melt-in-your-mouth tender inside. The kind of scone that makes you pause, smile, and quietly judge all other scones you've ever had. Add to that a great bar and well-crafted cocktails, and suddenly high tea feels both elegant and celebratory. In my book, this is hands down the best place for high tea in the western suburbs -- perfect for birthdays, friendships, and moments worth savoring.

On Saturday, November 15th, I opened the McDonald's app, added the $1.00 coffee offer to my drive-thru code, and placed my order at the window. The discount didn't apply. When I showed the employee my phone, she said their system was rebooting and refused to honor the deal. A few days later, I tried again at the same location with the same $1.00 coffee offer. The discount still didn't apply. The attendant told me to refresh the app, but even after doing that and generating a new code, nothing changed. When I tried to re-add the offer, the app said it had already been used. I told them to cancel my order, but later found out I was still charged. Paying three times what was expected for a cup of coffee might seem trivial, but it's frustrating and unacceptable. Either the employees don't know how to correctly process discounts, or they're choosing not to. McDonald's needs to fix this issue immediately so customers aren't overcharged for offers the company advertises but doesn't honor. Buyer beware at this location.
