I really hate starting off the New Year with a bad review, but our experience here was terrible, primarily due to the awful service. The food was not good either. Perhaps NYE had the staff tired... I am attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt. My husband loves his coffee in the morning, and for every single refill, he had to get up and ask for it. He got a biscuit, and had to get up to ask for butter. If a place is called "Tasty Biscuit," then they had better be sure to serve Tasty Biscuits! His was stale and just fell apart. I had the Avocado Toast, and both the toast and the avocado were inedible. I felt that they used bread and avocado that they had purchased over a week ago. The prices at Tasty Biscuit are a bit higher than at most diners, so I feel it is entirely fair to receive at least adequate food and service, of which we received neither. I hated leaving this review, but Tasty Biscuit should feel worse with sub-par to awful everything as a start to 2026. read more

I'll admit, I was a little hesitant to suggest Tasty Biscuit to my friends after reading some mixed reviews -- but I'm so glad we gave it a shot because our experience was fantastic! We loved everything we ordered: the corned beef hash was flavorful and perfectly crisped, the Española omelette was delicious and well-balanced, and the French toast combo hit all the sweet-and-savory notes we were hoping for. Portions were generous without being over the top. Service was excellent -- Lauren took great care of us. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever hovering. My experience was good but not great. My brunch companions ordered skillets that looked fantastic, but my eggs Benedict were only so-so. Parts of the egg whites were runny and the eggs were already cooling off when I got the dish. At the end, our server brought the check but didn't tell us to pay up front, so we were waiting for a while for him to come back. I ordered 2 eggs over medium, "homemade sausage patties," wheat toast and hashbrowns. Eggs were cold. No butter on the table. When the nice young man brought it, it was frozen. Cold toast by that time too. Old, stale, tough hash browns. I was hoping the "homemade sausage patties" were at LEAST made in house. The one bite i tried indicated, if true, they have a patty making machine on cite making patties that taste like they were plucked out of a freezer bag from a bad fast food place. So I wasn't sure what to expect with all the mixed reviews on this place but it wasn't bad. It wasn't THE BEST but not the worst by any means. It's a brunch place that serves decent food. I LOVED the creamy chicken and rice soup - very thick and great flavor. The Philly steak sandwich was slightly meh cause it was definitely not any better than the beef you can get at Subway or make at home from frozen - so I'll definitely try something else to judge them more on next time. My BF ordered the LOADED sandwich which was huge! Triple decker with a great flavor in the vanilla cream soaked Greek bread. The eggs were cooked perfectly and just the right amount of cheesiness and seasoning. The fries were my favorite part aside from the soup... Which leaves a little to be desired unfortunately. Went to Tasty Biscuit for a late breakfast early lunch on Friday February 9th. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and quickly sat down in a booth. Our server Kayla came over and introduced herself and asked for our drink order. We both had coffee, but after Kayla recommended Turkish coffee I had to go with her recommendation. The Turkish coffee was "OUTSTANDING." We have not had coffee this good since we were in Dubai. Kayla, followed up her recommendation with a breakfast panini & avocado toast with poached eggs. My husband brought my mom and I here for Mothers Day; he's been to the location in Lisle for lunch and said it was good. While I might try them again on a not so busy day, I really wasn't a fan of the Tasty Biscuit. The vibe is great, our waiter seemed new but was nice. The food was just very mediocre, there was absolutely nothing special about it. I didn't appreciate that you can't pick any upgrade you like - if I'm willing to pay $2-3 more for an upgrade side, let me choose my own. But on that note, the signature cinnamon apple pancakes were terrible (I didn't even want to eat the leftovers we took home). The apples were from a can, the pecans weren't toasted or had anything done to them, and the pancakes were covered in a thick cinnamon roll glaze that just overpowered the whole thing. If I can give this place a negative review I would! The food is not what it used to be but it's local. The general manager is absolutely aweful! I walked in (party of 5) was asked to wait a couple of minutes. Moments later multiple party's showed up and they started a number system. I had to walk up and ask for a number then noticed multiple parties were being seated after us. When I approached the manager about the issue she stated it didn't matter she spoke to me they were now on a number system and we were now towards the end of line. When I expressed how unfair and wrong that was I was told I could wait or leave. No "I'm sorry for the confusion" nothing, she was extremely rude and dismissive and told repeatedly we can wait for our number or we could leave. We will NEVER BE BACK. read more

The ambiance of Tasty Biscuit is very homey. It was fairly busy, but for a table of 2, we were seated pretty quickly. It's bustling but it was a great Sunday brunch to go to. The service is pretty good! Food came quickly, server checked on us here and there, and answered our questions. The bussers also cleaned off tables and our plates out of the way quickly so that was cool too, they're very attentive. The food was pretty good as well! I had the Lumberman Breakfast and I loved it. Eggs were cooked to preference, the yoke was still runny, the sausages were juicy, bacon was good, ham was surprisingly great because I'm not a fan of ham but this one was tasty, and hash browns were great! I took half of the food home and ate it for dinner and it was still good reheated! My only feedback is the latte and the French Toast Tower. Which, maybe it's by preference as well, but my partner ordered the cookie butter latte iced and maybe it tastes better warm but the cookie butter was too thick and didn't mix well with the almond milk. Also, the amount of cream cheese on the French Toast Tower was a lot. So, maybe if you have a huge sweet tooth it could be your thing, but not ours. Tasty Biscuit has been on our "want to try list" for some time. We finally made it on a sleepy Friday morning. It wasn't very busy inside. The place is cute, lots of wood and a fireplace, The menu is large and has some pretty decadent sounding stuff. I got the Loaded whitch was greek french toast stacks one filled with ham and cheese the other bacon toped with eggs. As you know me all things breakfast start with the hashbrowns, no complaints nicely browned and a decent quantity. I have been on a french toast thing lately, even though I don't care for it by itself....I am a big fan of the sandwich variety. This thing was pretty much a monster, the french toast was good, the bacon was cristy and had some decent flavor and the ham and cheese provided some good saltiness. It was a winner. My wife gort one of their fancy coffees, it was a bit much for what it was, but it was good. She got the avocado toast, it was good, excellent sourdough that was maybe a bit too toasted, but she did enjoy it. I left this restaurant completely dissatisfied. I was fine with getting my side wrong, but what really upset me was that they got my order completely wrong. I pointed out that my cheese in my omelette was supposed to be American and not cheddar but the waitress argued that it was indeed American not cheddar. It was so frustrating. Generous portion size for $12. Wife had make your own skillet - eggs were powdered. But other than that, tasted fine. Not exactly fresh but was edible. Service = decent. Gave my feedback to the waitress. Wasn't offered anything else even though I ate 1/3 of the crepes (that's okay, probably wouldn't have gotten anything else). After seeing such low ratings, I was a bit skeptical checking out Tasty Biscuit the first time, but I'm glad we did. I've been to plenty of disappointing restaurants, but there's just no way Tasty Biscuit deserves an overall score of only 2.5 stars. The number of straight up one star reviews from accounts with less than 5 reviews is a huge red flag. Our experience most definitely did not align with the overwhelming negativity on here. Yes, it's a straight up copycat of Southern Café, and no I don't think it's quite on par with it either. With that said though, it's pretty damn close and without the long wait too. We've been here on 3 separate occasions during what I would have expected to be a busy weekend brunch crowd, and we waited at most a few minutes for a table. Tasty Biscuit went all in on getting every little detail to resemble Southern Café with its the menu, large portions, décor, and even the syrup containers. There was definitely no hiding the fact that they were heavily inspired by Southern Café. However, trying to mimic a great brunch spot isn't the worst thing in the world, and resulted in a pretty good brunch spot at the very least. The flavor of the dishes were just a slight notch behind, service was good but slightly more business-like rather than warm/friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. Chicken Fried Chicken Skillet - I was a little confused because they had both a country fried chicken plate and a chicken fried chicken skillet. They seemed like the same exact thing except the skillet had the addition of bacon but was somehow a dollar cheaper. Either way, this was the equivalent of the The Nasty Biscuit from Southern Café, and was similarly a very generous portion. It consisted of a huge breaded chicken cutlet, eggs, and cheese inside a pillowy / butter biscuit, all sitting on top of a bed of hash browns. Then the entire thing is smothered in country gravy. Now that's my kind of breakfast. Plan on taking home leftovers or falling into a deep food coma. Country Fried Steak and Eggs - It's becoming harder to find a breakfast place that offers a good country fried steak anymore but Tasty Biscuit does it well. The country fried steak was perfectly breaded and crisp. The country gravy had a great consistency without being too runny, and it actually had decent chunks of sausage and a noticeable peppery bite. Finally, the hash browns had a nice crispy top and soft/flakey potato shreds underneath. No complaints at all for this dish. Overall, I'd say ignore all the one star reviews and give Tasty Biscuit a shot. If you're a fan of Southern Café, this might be right up your alley. read more

We had a wonderful dining experience at the Tasty Biscuit Pancake House in Saint Charles. The outside of the restaurant isn't anything special, however when you walk inside, it is beautiful. It is airy, modern farmhouse decor, clean, and well-maintained. The waiter stated he was new to this restaurant, but he was definitely experienced as a waiter. He was very pleasant and friendly. He clarified our order, was attentive coming to ask how we were doing and if we needed anything more than once. The service was very fast, and our waiter mentioned we did not need to rush out, but could stay and enjoy the conversation at our table. The food was delicious . We enjoyed a coffee, Swedish crêpes and an omelette with a potato side and biscuit. The food was plentiful enough for a second meal, and the price was reasonable. On Wednesday we went to have breakfast at Tasty Biscuit in St. Charles. Almost everything was nice, the food was amazing, i order the blueberry lemon crepes. The server was Melissa and she was very attentive to us. I was a little upset with the man that cleans the tables because we had a little incident we spilled a little coffee and i was trying to call the man over and he never paid any attention to us, he was on his phone and never looked over at us. Then when the server asked him to come and clean the table, he looked mad and frustrated, sorry for making a mess but this situation was an accident and i felt like the buss-boy was upset with us. I've been here before many times and most have been good experiences except for today 7/6/25. Waitress was slow but nice. Ordered a skillet and it was 95% all hash browns. Waited a good 20 minutes, still didn't see her so being hungry I decided just eat it and call it a day. Waitress comes over 40 minutes later asks how it was and I politely said its been better its mostly hash browns. She said ill get you another skillet. I said no its OK im good. Anyway she brings a new one and says you can put this in a box and take home which I thought was nice and said thank you. Just a couple minutes later she said Mgr said you'd have to pay for second skillet or I have to take it away! Thought ok, just take it no big deal. I had my fork in my one hand took a quick drink a Latino kid with hat who works there came up from behind where I was sitting grabbed my original order and said "done"! No, I'm not done put it down. Now I'm pissed. I couldn't believe what just happened within a matter of minutes. Wife told mgr. Who was nice but really didn't care,she took 2 dollars off for the 5 meats supposed to be in skillet that were missing. I walked out. I guess you'll have to try it on your own. Im done with them. Most of work staff is new and just not what it used to be. If you read other reviews they go from 1 to 5 all over the board on this place. That's why I say its now become a hit or miss. When the table cleaner dressed in all black came up as stated before it startled me. In today's crazy world you never know what can come and not the best way to approach someone eating a late breakfast. Either way the training has obviously gone way down and prices have gone up. Being in upper management myself, how everything was handled especially by the food "take away method" is not the best way to retain long term frequent customers. That is probably the most notable thing there I've seen. Tables used to be full and this is a big place, now, there is hardly any waits and buisness customers that were there has significantly dropped off in the past few months. Food is still good it now depends on who you get as a server. One additional note, bathrooms were always clean. (It's a mix of modern chic and clean green; it definitely could be Instagram worthy.) -- The service was great and our server was on top of placing our order and bringing all the refills. Sadly I ordered a plain jane coffee before I saw their coffee menu, but next time I'll definitely adventure out! -- The food was good too, but I feel like the meal I ordered was pretty basic so hard to judge the food based on my meal; however it was still tasty! The biscuit was a bit dry, so I would recommend sprucing it up if you get one yourself (butter or jelly?) and would definitely do that myself next time. But their menu is HUGE and it looks like there are a lot of good options for when you want to indulge or #treatyourself.
