Such a cute independent bookstore! I wish it was closer to home, what a fun themed bookstore and I love how there were different sections and themed as well. There's an elevator to get upstairs where you'll find most of the books and places to sit and enjoy. We loved the kids nook/area as well. Continues to be my favorite bookstore for new books in the area! The vibe here is so great, nice selection for a smaller store, and staff is very friendly. Despite it being on multiple floors, there is an elevator (it's slow but it works) which is great news for us disabled folks. So many little charming spots to rest and read! I discovered Harvey's Tales during the pandemic after the re-opening. I love going to independent bookstore as you could see the charming side of the business owners and their staffs. They add to the characteristics and collection! When you enter the bookstore, someone is always there to greet you. Then you will see the latest books displayed at the front. At the back wall, there is a shelf with books from different book clubs. When you venture up the second floor, there are more genres. I always love to browse in the banned book section that is sadly expanding. Back to the first floor, there's a coffee stand as well. I also noticed there's message board with different events. Still a 5 star place for me. I was in town unexpectedly and decided to meet up with a friend while I was here, so we of course came back to Harvey's. This place is such a vibe. They have a good range of coffee (and decaf espresso, which was perfect in the late afternoon), and obviously they have an incredible selection of books. And everyone who works there is great. But still have not met the dogs :( I hope one of these days I'll bump into a cute bernese mountain dog at the store lol. read more

Harvey's is in a former Victorian home. It's fun wandering from room to room. Upstairs there is an alcove with vision for a moment of reading. Like many independent booksellers, there are index cards taped in various locations with staff recommendations. When I visited in the summer I bought The Favorites: a rare relationship/romance set in ice skating. Also make sure to check out the banned book room. read more

Today marks my second visit to Harvey's Tales. The staff is super friendly and greet you when you come in. There's a cute coffee shop on the first floor along with kids' books. Upstairs, you can find adult fiction and non-fiction, plus a little room dedicated to banned books. There are puzzles, games, and other book-related candles, games, craves, etc. throughout the store. This place is just the absolute cutest and everytime you turn the corner, there's more to see! From their adorable book catalog countertops to their perfectly curated knick knacks, it's the perfect spot for a coffee with a friend or buy a book to read with your mini. This place is adorable! There is a great selection of both local authors, best sellers and everything. They have staff picks as well as recommendations from their customers. They have an adorable, comfortable reading nook upstairs if you want to tuck yourself away and get lost in the world of books. Everyone in the store is so nice and helpful. They're not overbearing in their presence but they're only a step away if you need help. The cafe is adorable and the chai tea latte I got was perfect. Let me start off by saying, I am obsessed with books and indie bookstores. This home of a gem sits right off of Third street in downtown Geneva. The ambiance when walking in is welcoming and the smell of pages is over whelming. They have a cute fireplace with seating and a giant scrabble board that YOU can play while sipping on one of their specialty coffees or teas. Everyone who works their is knowledgeable beyond the average book seller and their smiles are welcoming. I come here with my kids when I can but truth be told, I come her alone once a week (not even to buy anything) just to walk around, sip and read. I love this bookstore! read more

Love visiting Harvey's Tales for coffee and I ALWAYS find plenty of great reads here too. They have some very unique gift ideas for all ages and interests, cool stationary, interesting coffee/tea accessories and it's an inviting place to spend your time. The owners and staff are always friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. A few times I've requested their help to locate a book I was hoping to purchase, and since they didn't have the book in stock, they were able to order it for me. It arrived quickly and was fairly priced. Harvey's Tales is locally-owned and it is a family favorite of ours to visit! read more

I am a lifelong reader and writer and this is my favorite bookstore in the area. A cute old house, right in the heart of adorable Geneva, with a thoughtfully curated selection of books and the sweetest gifts you could imagine for the book lover in your life! Plus a cafe and seating indoors and out. What's not to love? When they haven't had the book in stock I was looking for, they were able to order it and it arrived quickly. You're paying the cover price here, unlike with the mega-online place, but it's well worth it to support this independent, family-run store that betters our community. I'd love to see an expanded selection for primary school readers in the future, but it's an excellent store all around. read more

Cute shop--lots of good books. The coffee counter is ok. The servers seemed confused by simple questions. I've been here twice and BOTH times the bathroom was out of order. The first time I was enjoying coffee and conversation with a friend but had to go across the street to the chocolate kitchen, buy something to get a code for the bathroom, then come back and finish my coffee. If you know the bathroom is out of order, maybe set up some kind of mutually beneficial deal with the chocolate kitchen so your paying customers can use the bathroom across the street. And let your customers know ahead of time that there are no facilities. read more

This place is so magical! Upon entering the bookstore they greet you. They were serving butterbeer latte for Harry Potter's birthday at the time but they have the usual coffee and tea drinks on the menu. Next to it, there is a sitting area. It feels like walking through time in an old house. Every corner and every room is cherished with books. They have tables for you to sit and read on the upper level but my favorite is the pink sitting corner. They have children's books and games as well. I will say only thing they need is more comfy places to sit but I am not sure if there is enough space. I highly recommend this place! Go get a steamy cup of hot coffee and get lost in the pages of a magical world. read more

Hubsy and I came here with my college friend who's local. My friend works at the local library, so my first experience with Harvey's was a hearty greeting by the owner to my friend . My friend was greeted by name and the owner was super friendly and open to meeting myself and Hubsy. This is what I imagine small towns should be. The place: This combination bookstore cafe is located in what seems like an old house. Hardwood floors, wood bookcases painted gray. On the first floor is the coffee counter and a cute sitting room area by a fireplace. On the second floor is a gender neutral restroom (single seater). The location: Downtown Geneva. Super cute. The books: Children's and YA on the first floor along with cute things -- cards, notepads, scarves, totes, socks, etc. Second floor is where the general fiction is, poetry, graphic novels, and non-fiction. Lots of books. Up on the second floor there's a big table with wooden puzzles. We sat to do a couple of those puzzles for a good 10-15 minutes. Really fun and weirdly challenging. The staff: So sweet. They weren't overbearing, they were actually helpful, and I got the feeling that you could sit down and talk books with them. Next time: I want to look closer at their poetry section. It looks like they have a good selection of living poets that I want to check out! read more

I love the natural charm that this bookshop brings to the downtown community. The children's room called "Hazel's Room" is just so nicely put together & such a wide selection of wonder for kids. I really love how friendly the staff are & how easy it is to place a special order on books. My husband has now asked me to order two different times and it's been such an easy process with the team members working. They have a frequent shopper rewards program which is super cool & a drink rewards club program too for their cute coffeeshop located next to the Scrabble game! The Scrabble word game is such a prime example of all the special touches that the owners put into the design of the shop. They have a lot of cute spots to cozy up and read in the shop which gives you that natural comfort that is easy to pass a few hours in the shop getting wrapped up in a book or two! I definitely recommend this shop for the overall positive atmosphere I've experienced from the moment you walk in to when you leave. Oh yes and I almost forgot they have a super fun & quirky wide range of special occasion card selection! They had a cute one about the store Target, super funny one! Hands down my favorite store in Geneva. Very cozy store tucked into a cute old house in the downtown area. Despite being off 3rd St., I've always found a good parking spot.
