We were pleasantly surprised to see all these colorful works of art and a very neat studio. Dena told us all about the studio, and described it as an interactive art studio that helps people of all ability levels to learn new art techniques through a variety of classes and events. Very fun looking crafts ranging from 'fluid art', resin beach scenes, resin tumblers, charcuterie boards, wine glasses and more. You can book a paint/resin and sip party (BYOB) and create a very unique piece of art to take home. The finished art examples are on display in the shop and I loved the resin artwork. So much color and bling! There are some jewelry pieces for sale from local artists here as well. Can't wait to come back here to try a class! It is a very uplifting atmosphere and Dena was very friendly and enthusiastic.

Let me preface this review by saying I do not often shop at Michaels anymore, as I find Joann down…read morethe road has a much larger selection and includes fabric, something Michaels does not offer. However, there are times when I am looking for a particular item and Michaels might be the better bet in terms of tracking it down. My most recent trip to the store in Geneva with just one of those occasions when I was looking for particular wood letters so I could paint them and hang them with our Christmas stockings. I found the letter section easily enough, but as has often been my experience at the store, they were missing the ones I needed. When I say often, I really do mean it, as I have never been to this store and gotten exactly what I came for. In addition to what seems to be a chronic lack of merchandise, Michaels' prices always seem to be much higher than Hobby Lobby or Joann's, and that bothers me. Why should I have to pay more for the same items? True, they do accept coupons, and even competitors' coupons, but if you have to pay more for the items in the first place, a coupon does not really benefit you. The store itself always seems cramped, and displays in the middle of the aisle make it difficult to navigate. Perhaps they should think about expanding, as they clearly do not have enough room for the little merchandise they offer.

I was so tense and stressed out that I didn't go back for the last class! I feel taken advantage of and believe that a 70$ refund is more than fair. I would probably shop here frequently save for having a couple of off-putting interactions with the owner. Most recently, I went there looking for circular needles, which she didn't have in the size I wanted. She was insistent--when I declined having her order them--that I buy regular needles--and that it would be better for me to make my project using them rather than the circular needles. Perhaps she was trying to be helpful. I don't doubt that she knows a lot about knitting. Yet, she came off as being pushy and intrusive. I ended up leaving the store as she continued to insist that I buy the other needles and deciding that I would not return. If she'd just left me alone, I would have returned at least a couple times by now and would have bought other things. (I had bought a pattern book there that I really like).
