I go here when I need tea and I'm in Geneva. Also when my daughter was carrying her children because store carries decaffeinated teas ! I normally get a very small bag loose leaf which will last me for couple months which is fine. Went in for a replenishment and asked for little bit bigger bag. First bag was about 3"x 2", she rattled off some ounces which unless you have one of those food scales, wouldn't have any idea. Well she starts stuffing a 9x5 plastic bag to the top so full, fast half it fell on floor. Lot of tea wasted! By the time I got over to see, I exclaimed on no way too much! I was taken off guard and didn't realize until she rung it up-13$ what she had done- This is like a Brick of tea; I'm only one that drinks it. I like coming here for the nice variety of ground coffee to use at home. This time I bought Heavenly Brew, Toffee and Costa Rican. Before Christmas I bought several different varieties as gifts. They have so many flavors of tea also as well as tea pots, mugs and various coffee presses. The lady who greeted us offered to answer any questions we may have. The store is in kind of a mini mall in a historic building in downtown Geneva. They also have a brew of the day coffee special for $1 which you have to pour yourself. It was French Vanilla that day and it went well with the scone I got from the gluten free bakery across the street. I expect I will be a regular visitor. read more

This is one of the very few real authentic coffee shops left in Illinois. They don't make"Latte!".!! They mainly sell coffee beans. Owner is very knowledgeable about coffee beans and she said she has been seeing them for 40+ years. I have been coffee lover for 50+years and I know she knows what she is talking about. When the shopkeeper was posed with the question of whether they carried organically grown coffee, her response (which was delivered in an extremely unfriendly manner) was that ALL of their coffees were roasted in-house so they are ALL organic! USDA Organic (or otherwise) certification is NOT listed on their coffee products, nothing is posted in store or online regarding organically grown or fair trade. In order to provide truthful information to her (potential) customers, she needs to learn what organically grown means and then bring organic/fair trade beans into her inventory to satisfy consumers who care . read more

Stopped by after seeing positive reviews (mind boggling) and needing a good cup of coffee. We were served by who I believe was the owner who appeared disinterested in our business, and inconvenienced by questions about the coffee. As you can tell from my profile, it is rare that I write reviews - however, I felt compelled to share my unsettling experience with others. I had a friend visiting from out of state and we went into the Berry House to peruse the various shops located in here - one of which was (going to be) the Coffee Drop Shop. Not even 30 seconds after opening the door, an unmasked woman (this is during the time of the mask mandate in Illinois regardless of vaccination status) glared at us and aggressively asked "Excuse me! Can I help you!?" We explained we were going to look around to which she curtly responded "I don't know what you think you are doing but I am the only store open." As I tend to avoid conflict (and in all honesty, I was still processing why there was this level of hostility from this woman) - I quietly explained that my friend was from out of state and I wanted to show her around. At this point, she raised her voice even more and scolded us by saying that we weren't allowed. We backed away from her and headed upstairs while she continued yelling at us. Interestingly - when we got upstairs, we found a salon to be open (yet she said everything was closed). Even more interesting - after walking around (and within earshot of the Coffee Drop Shop) we encountered another patron who obviously did not receive the kind of treatment we did - I can't help but wonder if it was because we were younger and my friend is not white. Roasting their coffee for over 30 years! Truly wonderful coffee and a cup will cost you $1.00!!!!!! If you like flavored coffee than you must try this place. The coffee tastes like it's name. Chocolate snickers, rum yum , vanilla biscotti, banana fosters! Buy it by the quarter pound or more. They will grind the freshly roasted beans for you to take home. This shop is so cute! Stopped in this morning to get a cup of coffee and was treated rudely by who I believe may have been the owner. When we walked in she stared at us with a dumbfounded look on her face and mouth agape as we looked at the board behind her. There was no cheerful hello but instead we were addressed in a very rude tone "Can help you?," which came across as she wanted to do anything but help us. I told her I was looking to get a cup of coffee and asked if that was okay with her. I was so taken aback by how I was addressed. She then proceeded to rattle off her selection of coffee and said, " We don't make lattes here." I didn't ask for a latte and would have been fine with a regular black coffee. Holy tea and coffee!! They have everything you could ever want to try. We like coffee, especially the aroma, but are more of tea drinkers. We snagged a few bags of herbals and black teas. Not very expensive either. It's located in the The Berry shops, which is a building with lots of cute little antique stores inside. You can get ground coffee, beans, loose leaf tea, jams, honey, and brewed coffee to go. So glad we stopped in the building or we would never have known it was there! read more

In an endeavor to get to know Geneva a little better I walked to this coffee and tea store after the dance exercise class at St Mark Episcopal Church to check it out. The store itself is in the back of the main floor of the Barry House. As I entered it I was reminded of an old fashioned hardware store not for tools but for tea and coffee. As I entered the store the aroma of a variety of coffee and teas were offered up to my nostrils. Whatever utensil you might look for brewing coffee and tea can be found here. I came in and purchased a cup of iced tea as well as a banana nut muffin. They also offered freshly brewed coffee and slushies. You will also find a table with locally produced honey. I was reminded that this is a local business as retro television was playing in the background and the family was there running the local coffee and tea business. They aren't fancy but they should have what you are looking for. read more

Cute shop in the collection of unique stores that make up the Berry House shops. To enter it directly, go around the corner and you will see its lit up open sign contained within a coffee cup. To me, this was much more of a tea shop than coffee. There were so many cute tea gadgets. The tea cozies were talking to me but I settled on a new tea filter, bag holder as well as some whole leaf and bagged tea. In addition, there were all kinds of cute tea pots and cups. There was coffee available by the pound and two pots of drip coffee on burners in the back but this was not a coffee shop. The woman who worked here was extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for tea paraphernalia, this is a great place. I am an equal opportunity self caffeinator so I liked it fine. This is go to place for my coffee fix when I'm out exploring the Western suburbs. I enjoy favored coffee and this place has it all in different flavors, regular and decaf. They also carry all kinds of teas and products for making it. The shop is located in a little building which houses kinds of shops, coffee, antiques, photo re-toucher, clothes, and a restaurant. The store has a rewards program for free coffee, buy so many pounds and get one free. Also they do take phone orders and ships from that location. Super rude and unprofessional. I wanted to smell a certain tea to see if I wanted to buy it. The lady wouldn't let me touch the tea, saying I was going to break the jar if I touched it. Really??? How do I know if I like it to buy it if you won't let me smell it? My friend asked her if they have Matcha. This was during the Christmas Walk, and she said, "Come back when it's not so busy." I was walking through downtown Geneva one day and dropped into this little shop. I'm not a coffee drinker and was pleasantly surprised to find their awesome selection of loose teas and all the goodies that go with it. They had teas like, blueberry, raspberry, peach, cake flavours....yum The woman who runs the shop is super duper nice and as I was leaving she said "drop by anytime" she also gave me a few great tips on brewing tea and was very honest about her recommendations. I'm a huge loose tea fan and this is THE place for quality loose tea. Unlike some of the chain stores, the prices are very reasonable and the owner is so very helpful and friendly! I don't usually frequent here as much during the summer, but during the winter months I'm in here to stock up at least once a week. I've lived in Geneva for over 10 years and had no idea that this gem was here. It's a small shop and despite the name, it has more tea selection than coffee selection. If you are a tea person, you will be in absolute heaven. That's not a knock on the coffee selection. There are more than a dozen varieties of coffee in both regular and decaf. But that doesn't matter because once you try their house blend, you won't want anything else! The service is great. Every time I've been in the store, I am dealing with the owner. She has been a coffee proprietor for over 35 years and knows the business. She provides a level of service that gives that feeling of yesteryear that is long gone. Now the best part. The prices are unbelievable. We're dealing with gourmet coffee at grocery store prices. $10 a pound for superb coffee. Their location is in the Berry shops, not completely hidden but you need to know it is there or you might miss it. Great coffee, great tea selection, great service and great prices. I called and asked the shop if they had green tea with gogiberry ready to drink at the store. The lady said yes and we showed up and it very very unclean and very rundown. I wasn't helped for 10 min and I just had to stand there. The girl that was working asked what i wanted and took another 20 min to make my ices tea. It was 1.00. When I got the "green tea" it was the color of water and has no gogiberries at all. I tasted it and proceeded to throw it away. This was very disgusting and honestly wasn't worth a dollar. read more

I really love the Coffee Drop Shop! Just about every kind of tea you can imagine, from commercially produced boxes to loose teas that you can buy in any amount. There are also inexpensive, small but generous bags of all the loose teas; I always pick up a few to try new flavors. Judy, the lady that runs the shop is super nice, and knows her stuff; tea or coffee! Coffees are also delicious and very nicely priced, not a million flavors, but who needs a million?
