This store is the jewel of the river. Loveliest, sweetest owner you'll ever meet. So many children's books which I'm so grateful for because there were so many childhood classics I was so happy to see again. This bookstore is a gem and well worth the 30 min trip it took us to get there. Stuffed floor to ceiling and then some with used books in great condition and many, many children's books, which is hard to find in a used bookstore. The owner was just lovely. Can't recommend enough! read more

Wow. This gently used book store is truly amazing. I visited once before as I accidentally stumbled upon the old book sale a few years back. I was searching for summer garage sales and saw the signs leading to the owners garage book sale. Since then, the store moved to an incredibly cool looking vintage attic in a quaint little house that was built in the 1800's! Oh, the stories those walls would tell if they could! The walls are just covered with books from one end to the other. A book worm's heaven. Everything is well categorized and easy to search through. Hard cover, paper back, board books, interactive books, kid books, adult books and everything in between. The books are in excellent condition and incredibly affordable. The prices range from about a dollar something to six dollars and some change. There are two large rooms but for the purpose of my visit I spent most of my time in the kid section. The walk in closet has been converted into a quaint little reading nook. With throw pillows and books from wall to wall ceiling to floor! Perfect attraction for a child that just wants to curl up and read. There are even some toys in the main room, a stool to sit on, and a knee cushion in case you choose to kneel. Pam, the owner has thought of everything :) I messaged Pam on facebook that I needed about 20+ children's books. Normally the store is closed on Sundays but she replied promptly and opened the store for a few hours since she was going to be there doing some work anyway. You just cannot beat that service! Pam is great. She greeted me upon entry and explained everything to me, giving me a mini tour and telling me a bit about her business. She gets her books from donations and sometimes has more than her store can carry. She has made a partnership with a non-profit organization to help deliver books to needy children on an Indian reservation is South Dakota. Bless her heart. I purchased the books to use as favors for my daughter's birthday party. When I got home my kids (4 and 1) dumped the bag and immediately started scoping out the treasure I brought home. The older one was camera shy but I was able to snap a cute pic of the little one engulfed in a book that caught her interest. I'm usually a bit more of a stickler when it comes to giving out Five star reviews. Four is usually indicative of an awesome experience but 5 means the experience went over and beyond my expectations. Amazing job book lady. My son enjoys to read BOOKS , not Kindles or iPads and it so hard to find a book store that is not aggressively priced. The Book Lady's Book Attic is just the kind of place where my son can go look for books and buy 10 books the same price as one at big retailers. The book lady does so much for kids, I was able to observe the thoughtfulness of one lady to all the children that came in to her store. She is amazing. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE!!! Stopped in quick for a few books for nieces and nephews for Christmas. There is a crazy wide variety for selection and the books are all reasonably priced. I ended up getting 9 books for under $25. The owner is so friendly and helpful too! She knew all of her inventory and was so helpful in finding the right books for different ages. What a gem! So glad this wonderful used book store opened up in downtown Bartlett, walking distance to the Metra Train Station and many restaurants and shops in Bartlett. She has a huge selection of old books and more importantly, current best sellers and children's books of all ages- from board books to young adult novels. I've purchased my kids books here for school required reading - as well as fun novels to read while traveling - and the prices are SO reasonable that I can pay it forward and leave a book with someone else when I'm finished. This is a great place to get required reading books for school or even just one to pass time- not to mention Pam is so kind and will recommend a book if you want! I went in to get a book that was required to school and low and behold, she had it. She definitely has the resources and Booklady's Book Attic is one of the best places to get books for school. Great, inexpensive prices for gently used books- no need to buy a new book for school when you know you're going to write all over it anyway. If you need a book, I would recommend contacting her to see if she has the book to make sure and she'll put it on hold! Also, if she doesn't have it in her shop, she may offer to check at home because she has more books there so don't be afraid to ask if she has a book because she has a lot at home! The shop is sorted by category of books such as youth picture books, classics, teen, etc so it is easy to find books by category- but check behind books on shelves too! Some are two rows deep. No need to take the hike to half price books when you can shop local! Average books are around +/- $5. Good deals! **Tip: check her Facebook page to check her hours because she may extend her hours some days or be closed others. read more

This is an amazing place to simply walk around in if you are a lover of books! On top of that, the pricing is fantastic. I could basically afford two books for the price of one at half price books. Not to hate on hpb, I do love that store too! But this place is so much better. Its visually appealing, has great deals, and fantastic customer service! The "book lady" as she refers to herself was very attentive and friendly. She actively conversed with me, made me feel welcome, and helped me find specific books I was searching for. This is such a charming hidden gem in downtown Bartlett! I am normally downtown getting my regular chiropractic treatment and have hoped to visit the new bookshop, which is right next door, but was never lucky enough to be there when the hours coincided. Thankfully we were in luck one of the days and quickly made a bee line to the Book Lady's Book Attic! What we thought the would be a quick stop turned into a couple hours of browsing amazing books and chatting with the super nice and knowledgeable owner. The variety is amazing and prices were fantastic. There is a little something for everyone in the book attic, from very young readers to history buffs and everything inbetween. When I daydream about what my home library will look like someday, I picture the Book Attic. Stacks and stacks of (surprisingly organized and pleasantly chaotic!) books to explore, stools and kneelers to make browsing comfortable, a room full of children's books, and hidden gems. Everything is super affordable and, though used, in great condition. Pam, the owner, is so friendly and enthusiastic. She's given me some great recommendations and has even offered to hunt down some hardcover copies of my favorite books to complete my collection. When I make purchases, she removes the price tags so they aren't an eyesore on the covers. How thoughtful! She pays it forward, too, by donating books to a reservation.
