Welcoming and enjoyable ice cream parlor, espresso bar, and small food mall all rolled into a well lit open floor plan, offering plenty of seating, friendly staff, and I was pressed for picking quick with the menu of lattes mainly catering to the diabetes inducing Starbucks fans. My friend had discovered Luau earlier and enjoyed the post bike race sips but I am harder to please when the syrup comes from a plastic pump and ends up costing near ten bucks for a large. There is an expected variety of milks, sizes, and fun seasonal brews which got me picking the Beach Latte. The flavors worked well but just two years ago this sort of drink was half the price in my home town. I bet Dunkin Donuts can do the same for quite a bit less. Wifi works well, we both could spread out our laptops without fear of knocking over the big cups of Java, and the Wisconsin cream corner kept tempting me to add yet more sugar to my Friday. Probably would have had some scoops if not for the ten dollar drink driving through my wallet, I'm used to shrinkflation across all restaurants these days but Luau certainly puts itself in a class of its own! read more

Went in on a Sunday about 10:30 and it started to get busy. My sister and I ordered hot coffee beverages. The owner took our order and it seemed to take a very long time to bring our drinks to the table as if they had forgot that we placed an order. By the time our drinks came, after at least 15 minutes or more they weren't even that hot! So they were returned to warm up. By that time our delicious donuts were devoured already waiting for a hotter version. Then while there there was another couple who were seated close by, who I believe placed their order before us. Finally , an employee came by and asked what they had ordered as she must have noticed they had no beverages. The women gave them the excuse that they were really busy as so did the man that brought us our drinks. They have a nice business but if it is to thrive you need better organization. How about more employees for busier times, certain people that just make drinks for faster service and not the person taking your order on a Post It note! How about training more people who can just focus on drinks, one taking orders, one fixing food, someone cleaning tables. I used to go here way before Covid hit and their customer base was smaller when I never had to hardly wait for a coffee. I wasn't impressed and won't be going back anytime soon. read more

There is nothing like a stop at Luau Coffee for a healthy dose of good vibes. The service is always "fast-as-possible" and friendly. I don't even mind the occasional wait, because there's always a friendly someone to make small-talk with. The iced Black Thunder Coffee is the stuff of legends. A light smoky flavor combined with the perfect level of roast makes for one helluva good cuppa joe. #1 in my book of coffees. My go-to food in the A.M. is the breakfast burrito. Always fresh and hot off the griddle. Side note: Try the ice cream - you won't be disappointed. And ice cream solves everything! Luau Coffee is a great local family-owned business that's crushing it. Hands down my favorite local coffee shop. Always a welcoming vibe with good service and great coffee. Occasionally drinks may vary from employee to employee but on the rare occasion you don't like something they are quick to make a change no questions asked. They have some dairy free options for ice cream and do offer different milk substitutes. I am vegan and they have always been accommodating of sandwiches and wraps. One of my favorite things about Luau is that they are super dog friendly and will allow well behaved dogs inside. They always bring my girl a pup cup and are happy to see her. The WiFi is free and open so it's a great place to stay for a while and get some work done. Highly recommend. read more

Really good coffee, friendly staff and everything is very affordable compared to the chain coffee stores. After everything with the "mask free zone" started I gave it a shot. I thought that was brilliant. We need more give during these times and everywhere else you need masks to walk in and use the restroom but not when you're at the table eating? Lol does COVID just automatically stop when you're sitting at the table? No, makes no sense and these guys get it. On top of all that I am in and out in a couple minutes instead of waiting forever for mediocre coffee. Had a tasty, very filling buffet brunch at Luau Coffee today. All homemade food, with the pastries from Harner's. Nick, the owner said the items will be changed each week. Today we had a scrumptious French toast casserole, an egg casserole, fresh scrambled eggs, homemade sausage, bacon and fluffy tender biscuits with sausage gravy, fresh fruit and coffee cakes. Besides all of that, there is a card to circle the items you want to go in a homemade omelet. I think the omelet was probably my husband's favorite. He knew immediately he was eating fresh eggs and vegetables. Luau is also dog friendly. Drew brought over some scrambled eggs and bacon for our pup, though she is a regular at Luau. Luau Coffee is definitely a neighborhood cafe with gracious staff and friendly customers. You go for the coffee but stay for the people. read more

This is a great little place in Wasco that carries a favorite ice cream, Chocolate Shoppe from WI. BUT I'm completely unhappy and unsettled about the "This is a mask free environment" sign on the door. WHY!!! Masks are part of the reason the numbers in Illinois are fairly good right now. This is the only place I've been in between the tricities area and a recent vacation in Saugatuck area that has a sign like this. Everywhere else requires masks. Please require masks and wear them when customers are present! I also believe it's not an option in our area!! WEAR A MASK!!!!! read more
