Coplin dinner house is my all time favorite restaurant. I have never had a bad meal here. The menu is ever changing and is also fun and inventive. Some new food recently include the orange cauliflower (incredible), the veal jager schnitzel (the best entree I've had in a long time) and the potato chip haddock (so fun and creative). They also always have dishes that are super consistent and always delicious. The Brussels spouts are some of the best I've ever had, the rack of lamb is always good, the donut is incredible, and the red Thai curry is always super flavorful. The service has always been top notch. Heidi, Anya, and the team are so friendly, kind, and caring. They are great people who bring so much to the restaurant! Couldn't have a better team! This was our first but not our last dinner here. We loved the delicious food options not available elsewhere in the area. Joanna got the three course special for $62 - Brussels sprouts roasted in a soy-based sauce, a filet seared and cooked perfectly, and a rich apple crumble cheesecake. I started with the roasted pork belly on sweet potato puree with pickled vegetables on the side - both of us loved the richness balanced with the acidity of the pickled veggies. The duck two ways was especially well prepared: rare duck breast and confit duck leg. It was served on a bed of plain rice pilaf - a missed opportunity to add in a bit of flavor, maybe with mushroom broth or something else to add depth to the grain part of the meal. The wine list is very small, and if you choose a meat dish, the Girard Zin is an excellent option - powerful cherry and raspberry with hints of herbs. read more

Stopped for dinner. Party of 10+ women golfers in a separate (no door) room that were pretty loud and wood floors no rugs. I had baked haddock with "lobster" stuffing and lobster sauce. No lobster in stuffing that I could see. Wife ordered filet Pittsburgh style med rare. Her meal came out luke warm, no char on steak and cold mashed potatoes. She returned it and did not eat. Been dying to try this place for some time now and finally made it there this past Saturday night. Sorry to say my wife and I were not impressed. We had the mussels and brussel sprout appetizers both which were pretty good. The fillets are supposed chargrilled but really not, they had some burn marks on them but it was clear the grill was not hot enough and we got grey meat with grill marks almost no seasoning on them. The foie gras was burnt on the outside, cold on the inside. The mashed root vegetables had no flavor. There is a Pork Au Poivre on the menu and I asked if I could get my fillet in the Au Poivre and was told no. I get substitutions can be a pain but seriously all you have to do was put in a fillet instead of pork, how hard is that? I'm not a wealthy person and don't make it out for nice dinners often so when I spend $275 with tip I expect much much more. Looked at the bill in detail when we got home and realized we had been overcharged $16 on the fillets. On a positive note Sarah our waitress was great. read more

To the person who gave this place two stars: you got seated in the bar area during Valentine's day, easily one of their absolutely BUSIEST nights, what did you expect? Literally the other 3/4 of the restaurant is not set up like that. This place is SO. DAMN. GOOD. A Portland native transplanted to Carrabassett Valley for work, I quickly grew tired of the lack of diverse choices available around. Every single restaurant serves the same type of food. Coplin, however, has decided to stray from the norm by serving delicious, locally sourced, exquisitely made food at a reasonable price. The "intimate barn-chic" atmosphere is what really makes it special. Their options like Wednesday night "two-fer" and Thursday night pub night offer more affordable dining experiences for those who can't always spend $40+ a head on dinner. Their brunch is also bomb.com, whether you are looking for something to cure hangover after reliving your youth at the Rack or refueling your body after a long hike up nearby Cranberry Peak, there is something here for all brunching needs. #allbrunchesmatter My two favorite experiences here were: 1) a locally foraged mushroom risotto w/ chaga broth and scallops 2) a friend's rehearsal dinner in August where we had the brussell sprout app, I had the seafood carbonara (delish), and finished with a flourless chocolate cake ooey gooey nommy-ness and someone else had the DONUT bread pudding which was killer. What a lovely setting in a lovely part of Maine. Not at all crowded on a Thursday night (well the tiny bar was Packed). After 5 consecutive days of hiking this was our choice for a dinner out. The wine list is extensive; 18 reds and 17 Whites. I live in NYC and not many places have that (and i get around). Long cocktail list too, featuring local spirits. Had a vodka and cucumber drink, didn't finish it. On to the food... again quite a long menu with a lot of variety but I found that many of the dishes had either dairy/cheese/gluten or meat in them even if poultry or fish. If you are selective or picky it can Make things tricky. All I wanted was some clean fish or seafood but they all had one or 2 of the above in them. Opted for a variety of apps. Our sever was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu but not at all about the wine. She actually made a comment about not "being able to taste them". I hope that's not policy bc the server should absolutely try and know every wine. The lobster bisque, an absolute indulgence for me was mediocre. Mostly tasted like cream, no discernible seafood flavor. The foie gras app was overpowered by the balsamic reduction and banana bread. Diner rolls were served warm and with butter, a nice touch. Last item was a grilled asparagus salad with one of their fresh eggs. It was nice. Just nice. Dessert menu also long! Yeah. Had the strawberry shortcake, a large biscuit with macerated strawberries and huge dollop of whip cream. I ate the whole thing and was so full I couldn't finish my wine. I would come again bc it's a nice place with lots of variety, not everything hits the mark. read more

Overrated for mediocre expensive food. Atmosphere is fancy and quieter but still replace the burnt out lightbulb in a room and open a window so it's not a sauna. Plus burnt crab cakes with a boring sauce and over cooked tuna putannesca served with steamed unseasoned green beans. Go brave the noisy atmosphere at blackstrap grill for way better food, I don't understand the packed parking lot for this place or glowing reviews. read more

The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and yet tender...Made the 2 hour drive from Portland worth it. The desserts deserve a special mention - flourless chocolate torte was wonderful. Having never been to Maine before, we just randomly picked a place to stop on our way from Ottawa to Bar Harbor. I am glad we chose the Spillover Motel in Stratton/Eustis, nextdoor to the Coplin Dinner House. What an amazing find. Lobster bisque, pâté and goat cheese ravioli as starters were all impeccable. The bone-in pork chop, crab cakes, and heirloom tomato mozzarella salad were phenomenal. And the coconut cream pie almost made the three of us cry. The staff were very friendly, and made my 6-year-old son feel very welcome. I don't know if life will ever bring us back this way, but if it foes, we will certainly look forward to another meal here. read more

We have been coming up to eustis for many years. We are pretty much up every weekend in the winter and we always make a stop at the dinner house! Heidi is awesome! Great conversation always and the atmosphere is delightful. The food.. AMAZING! I've never had a bad meal, the drinks, appetizers and dessert just so good! Coplin Dinner House is a diamond in the rough. We've been coming in since they opened and it is such a welcome addition to the Sugarloaf area. Tried a lot of menu items and many different types of experience....everything from their Twofer Menu with rowdy friends, to a fine dining experience with parents, to brunch or snacks in the pub and it's always been lovely. Last week we sat at the bar with the lovely Anya shaking up some delish martinis and we got the heirloom tomato bruschetta (fresh and delicious) and the porcini mushroom sacchetti (omggggg these are so good....so decadent, fried sage brown butter sauce I could have poured into a shot glass and knocked back time and time again!). So many of the menu items are straight from the gardens and farms of the employees...you can really taste the quality of ingredients and time spent preparing the dishes. Can't wait to come back and try what else they are serving up next time I'm at the mountain....Excellent service, atmosphere, and quality beverages! read more

On a tip from a new friend we made at the Widowmaker lounge slopeside, we dined on a Thursday night at Coplin Dinner House. It was excellent, and unexpected for this neck of the far woods of Maine. Jeff M. and I both had Hendricks martinis, which were as good as any in NYC, and then we tried the fried brussels sprouts and bruschetta. We barely had room for the duck and red curry we had as entrees. Service was extraordinarily friendly; the food was delicious. I will recommend to friends skiing in the Sugarloaf area as a change of pace from the Rack. read more

For Valentine's Day, my husband likes to spoil me so while up near Sugarloaf he took me to what was suppose to be the finest dining around. We arrived early and were pleasantly surprised that they could seat us right away. We were seated in a room with several small tables. It was unfortunate that they seated so many in one room because this pulled from the charming and romantic dinner we were hoping for. It also made dinner conversation stop anytime a nearby table needed to get up. I held onto my glass and anything tippy since people had to carefully walk around us to get out the room. So did the waitstaff. One person at a time was all the small walkway between tables could handle. It was kind of silly. Our appetizer was amazing. We savored the brussel sprouts and the sauce that we wanted to pinpoint all the amazing flavors in. We thought that if this was our first course, dinner would be even better. Untrue. We were both unflattered by the lack luster that our dinner brought us. My duck had layer of fat on all of it that I had to carefully trim through all the cuts of duck to get to the small remaining pieces. That was half the work of my meal, which to me seemed to not be what I should be doing for the price we paid. My husband had fish that he thought lacked flavor and his veggie selection was meager. So was mine. I think I got two small carrots and a pile of 8 string beans. Some people would complain to the staff about these issue, but if I am anywhere, especially a more "upscale" place, on Valentine's day, do I want to ruin the mood and waste my time with management. Not at all. A place like this should have their small menu items meet the standards of fine dining. read more

Unfussy yet sophisticated cooking in rural Maine. We got in late from Boston on a Friday and were glad to find an open kitchen on a sub-zero night. We were seated promptly and greeted warmly even though we arrived just a few minutes before closing. The solidly New American menu is varied but firmly rooted in the familiar. Our waiter Steve pointed us to the boneless short rib and the red curry, which, after a long drive, tasted like something descended from heaven. We rounded off our meal with a wild blueberry pie so memorable we asked the pastry chef to make one for us to take home! read more
