Crack head prices, what I mean by that is I got 5 items for $9.75 in North Carolina one cup cake is 6 dollars, cookies are 4 to 5 dollars. Please keep this trend going. I love the variety as well. I got red velvet cupcake, chocolate gnauch, mik chocolate cookie, lemon square pastry and something else. I can say I enjoyed it all, 4 out of 5 for taste. 10 out of 5 for pricing. While on Staten Island, my partner and I couldn't leave until we stopped by this establishment to buy about 1 1/3 pounds of assorted cookies after seeing a recommendation from a TV show on Create. Opened in 2007, this is a specialty bakery with approx. 150 unique variety of cookies made from scratch. They also offer cupcakes, brownie bites and bubble tea. They have a nice assortment of over 200 cookie jars that filled one side of the walls. We were greeted by one of the staff and everyone wore mask. The smell of sweetness permeated through the store as the kitchen was in view at the back. All looked fresh and tempting for eating pleasure on the spot. While walking out of a Walgreen's in Staten Island, I noticed the most heavenly smell. I look across the street and I see The Cookie Jar then I look straight ahead from exit of the Walgreen's and see a wall ad on how The Cookie Jar has "The Best Cookies in Staten Island". Going by the smell and the review's on Yelp, I had to go check it out for myself. There was so much to choose from and everything comes in bite sized portions, so you can sample a little bit of everything. I got a lemon bar, an Oreo chocolate covered pretzel, a red velvet whoopie pie, a brownie bite, a Nutella filled nut cluster, and a slutty brownie (layer of chocolate chip cookie, Oreo, and then brownie). Stop Number 1 of our Borough Crawl for Staten Island! And Zaneta's pick! It took a long long while to get here from Bayridge and this may have been my first time ever on the Island that is Staten. I know. Crazy, right? But for the amount of time I was on a bus, Staten Island may not be making it into the 2014 Borough crawl unless we somehow magically acquire a vehicle of swift transportation. After our 2nd bus never made an appearance, we walked 15 blocks to the Cookie Jar while singing Bohemian Rhapsody on the side of the road. We beat the bus and warmed up inside to the most homey, adorable looking cookie shop on the face of the earth. See inserted pictures. Little ceramic knick-knacks and beautiful hand-crafted cookie jars everywhere. A huge display of different colored cookies, brownies, tarts, linzer cookies, cupcakes, macaroons, meringues. Everything. It was so exciting and I had no idea what to get! Zaneta got cherry chocolate chip. So soft and chewy. I opted for double chocolate chip and Steph got a slutty brownie square of sorts. Not good. Not good at all! If you are going to go to The Cookie Jar, go for the cute cookie jars only. They do not know how to make cookies. They are either hard, stale, excessively buttery, or all of the above. I just spent a little over $13 on a variety of cookies, just to take a bite out of them and toss them in the trash. It's a shame, because they looked so delicious. Sadly, the only time I will be going back is if I want to buy an actually decorative cookie jar that I cannot find elsewhere. The cookies lacked flavor and many of them needed more sugar and way less butter. You're better off making cookies at home or even getting cookie dough from the frozen aisle and making cookies at home. Hell, you're better off getting cookies from Subway! read more
