If you're staying at the Hilton and want a cup of coffee comparable to Starbucks, this is the place to go. I highly recommend an iced caramel latte. Their ice is the awesome small cubed ice as well, and they have purple straws, which is def a selling point for me! This café was out the door busy from the time they open to the time they closed. But the workers who were behind the counter and making the drinks and the food were extremely pleasant and kind and patient through everything that they were being put through. I hope that they're being paid well because they deserve it and more. The only reason this didn't get five stars was because everything with horrendously overpriced ... This is five-stars-for-a-chain kinda five stars, but is still well deserved at that. By far the best chain coffee available anywhere. This Coffee Bean is inside the Washington Hilton, between Adams Morgan and Dupont. Nothing this good has been in a Hilton since...Rick Salomon? No, Coffee Bean is definitely much better than that. But because of the location and newness of it, it's hella swanky. Five TVs in a coffee shop?! There were barely more seats than TVs! The coffee and tea here are quite, quite good (and I am both a coffee snob and a loose leaf tea drinker)...but because it's a chain it still does all the foofoo / blended / drink-coffee-to-jump-on-the-coffee-bandwagon-not-because-you-actually-like-coffee drinks, too. The service was outstanding, possibly because at least one of the employees had been imported from California. And let's face it, everything good comes from California. Said employee mentioned that there aren't any plans for additional Coffee Beans in DC as of yet, but that if this location continues to do well, that may change. This location looks clean and new as if it was just remodeled. It does not have seating inside of the store. It's located inside of the Hilton hotel in DuPont Circle, and you can go sit in the Hilton lobby to work. Good WiFi connection. No issues finding a seat. Staff was very friendly. Great service. They even have 4 flat screen TVs on one wall. Ordered the same Pomagranate Blueberry Tea Latte and it did not taste any different from what I remember (after all, it's a chain). I was very happy to see a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf shop conveniently located inside the Washington Hilton, where I attended a big conference for several days. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is my overall favorite coffee chain (over Starbucks & Dunkin Donuts) in the USA, but I am only able to enjoy it whenever I'm visiting So Cal or NYC. I stopped in here during session breaks for my favorite drink, a large CBTL Iced Coffee with cream and raw sugar, which was as good as the CBTL Iced Coffees I've enjoyed on the West Coast. The lines were long here during the conference, but the friendly staff was doing a good job at keeping the line moving and drinks were ready in timely order. However, since this sole DC location is inside a hotel, the prices here are considerably much higher for drinks, baked goods, and prepared foods. A large Iced Coffee was over $4 here and I paid under $3 in So Cal for the same drink. A breakfast sandwich was close to $8, keeping in line with the prices at the hotel restaurants. Because I had my CBTL fix, I was able to have a good conference and stay awake and focused during the long sessions. read more

Coffee bean and tea is located in the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC. It's a nice place there are nice tables and lounge chairs that you can sit out while you drink your coffee. They do have multiple televisions. And newspapers pretty much at on every table. They mainly do coffee and tea but they have a lot of baked goods as well as food items that you can purchase. You can get everything from many donuts up to Panini's and egg sandwiches. I ended up getting the spinach and turkey sausage wrap. The wrap was eight dollars. I thought the wrap was good I didn't think it was great. We got an order to go and they did a good job of packaging it up in a plastic container with silverware and catch up. Also had a lot of different drink options. They had two refrigerators that were filled with soda. They had two refrigerators that were filled with ice tea lemonade and other drinks. Overall it's a nice place to get coffee or tea if you're in the hotel. Prices were not extremely expensive. read more

This review is for 1 donut and frozen lemonade, Haven't tried anything else. The frozen lemonade was amazing, it was all the great taste of your traditional lemonade and the added bonus of it being frozen with out compromising it. They did an awesome job on creating this lovely drink. I love small donuts so I was happy to see they had a few left in the bakery case. It was a cinnamon flavored type donut, very fresh and is made of great dough. This is a donut that stand out from a gas station or grocery store kind for sure. They have a little bit for everyone there, stop by and find your pleasure they are a nice shop. read more

Chai tea latte was very good. The pastries are very good. The bagels are also good. I'm very pleased with the food.. they even have mini donuts! The servers are very nice and will even remember you if you go there often enough. :) it's very refreshing to know that there are still people who pay attention to the customers!! In addition, this location is in the Hilton. Also I think the prices are a little bit higher, but that is to be expected when it's located inside a hotel. Plenty of staff (all were friendly and welcoming). My Dark Chocolate Iced Blended drink and my husbands strawberry banana smoothie were both very good. I enjoyed the vanilla cupcake and his banana bread was as well. Definitely recommend. read more

My eggs were made in a rucsh that I could tell someone just wanted them to be out of the kitchen. So next time I will come here I will check if something changed in the kitchen. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has been my favorite coffee chain for a few years. I have visited their outlets in India and California and loved it. So when I moved to the DC area and heard that there is an outlet here, I just had to go. Absolutely brilliant place. Amazing coffee, I generally get the Ice Blended Pure Vanilla (with NSA Vanilla Powder). A bit expensive, but worth it. Located in the Hilton, the closest Metro stop is Dupont Circle. It's totally worth the walk. Today, I walked from Farragut West to CBTL and it was totally worth it. There is ample seating, amazing TV screens, and great staff (a special mention to Michael, who is very courteous). All in all, this is a place worth visiting. Would certainly like them to open more outlets in the DMV area. Fingers crossed! read more

Oh, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, I have missed you so! When I lived in L.A., I frequented several locations -- from the SaMo Promenade to Sunset (by Fairfax) to the L.A. Farmer's Market to La Cienega/Third St. to Wilshire and 14th... Oh hell, I've probably frequented them all. I just find them less "Starbucksy," and the kosher thing makes it even better. (Note: I am not Jewish, but for my Jewish friends---this is the coffee spot for you.) Moving back to DC from L.A. was hard without CBTL, but thankfully the Washington Hilton opened one. (And Hilton hotels in general have partnered with CBTL in the U.S., I believe.) While it kind of sucks that it's in the hotel, it's good enough for me. I'm just waiting for the day they'll open their own stand-alone in the DC area. (Make it happen, please.) It was pretty empty when I got there way past the morning rush, so I went right up to order my hazelnut ice blended. It was the perfect touch to my Saturday morning, and made my weekend all the more better. And the barista was super friendly, which made the whole situation even better. I had to sit down and take it all in... until I realized my meter would be expired in the next couple of minutes. Note that there is designated parking for CBTL in front of the hotel, so take advantage of it. CBTL, welcome to Our Nation's Capital! I hope you're here to stay. read more

I had my go of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf even though I am by far a regular coffee/tea purchaser, so who am I to judge? I wsa on a roll and I needed something sweet and chocolaty so ordered the Cafe Mocha, it was alright I guess but I think I want more coffee flavor and more leaf for that matter. I then tried some other type of tea flavor and it turned out to be fantastic. I love the enviroment there, its very chill and relaxed, and you can actually hang out for a while. read more

I would have only given 3 stars for this, but the staff was so friendly and customer oriented I had to bump it up a star. This coffee was terrible. And expensive. Give me Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks over this any day. My iced caramel coffee was almost entirely ice, and it was so sweet that I had to wait almost an hour before enough of the ice melted enough for it to be drinkable. My husband decided to throw away his dark roast coffee halfway through, and got a cup of coffee from the free Keurig machine in the gym at the hotel instead. Possible the worst breakfast egg sandwich I've ever had, it was covered in grease. 1.5 bites and it hit the trash. If you eat here, stick with the pastries, they are pretty safe (or go to a coffee shop on the great street one block away toward dupont circle.) I got the dark chocolate latte. It was okay... it tasted exactly like hot chocolate with no coffee taste at all. It was so rich I couldn't finish my small cup. There's this mini chocolate doughnut I got twice... it has little chocolate balls on it and it is delicious!!! But tiny. Today I ordered a caramel latte. I was in Arlington Va for a week on business. I made it a point of driving over to the Washington Hilton to go to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf that's located in their main lobby. I love the look of this renovated Hilton and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Coffee Bean. However this specific location has HORRIBLE customer service. April and Nok are fantastic but Fatima is horrible and ruined a highlight of my day. 4 out of the 7 days I went in to get coffee she was standing around having personal discussions and interrupting the cashier while she was giving the barista coffee orders. On the 4th and final time this happened after Nok tried THREE times to give April my coffee order I finally asked Fatima to stop having personal discussions while I was waiting for my order. She walked away with no apology, and as I was asking April a specific question about the powder they use in their drinks, Fatima returned to confront me about my statement. I was in shock by her aggressive behavior. Even my shy assistant said something to her as did I about her unprofessional behavior. Once again she walked away with no apology rolling her eyes. This was a disgusting display of her bad behavior. As The Coffee Bean is somewhat new to the East Coast I hope they don't continue to let Fatime be the face of their brand. read more

But, I'm afraid the quality of the drinks aren't the same as my beloved CBTL in Pasadena, California. Last time I ordered the usual Vanilla Ice Blended with extra vanilla powder of course.. It was a little too icy. BLEND THAT SHIT MORE. Today, I decided to get a large iced vanilla latte with the almond coconut milk. I wouldn't say it was a BIG mistake, But it was a mistake. IDK what they are using here but it is definitely not the equivalent of the almond coconut milk that they use in California. At the end of the day, I will come back, but it's just not the same. Genuinely friendly service here folks. Good selection of bakery goods, sandwiches & salads. I tried the chicken mango walnut salad, a key lime cupcake, and an iced cherry blossom green tea. All items exceeded my expectations! You will NOT be disappointed with their cupcakes- they are really more like a rich piece of cake with delicious frosting on top. Yumm! So happy that there is a Coffee Bean in DC. I was a barista at the Malibu store in California and their coffee is so much better than Starbucks. This location has the same great coffee with friendly staff and a great seating area. However, I had a few qualms. First, $5.23 (with tax) for a small Vanilla Soy Latte is way too much, when the cashier rang up my order I couldn't believe how much it was. Second, the service here was a bit slow. I was the only one there and it took a good 3 minutes to get my latte. I was a barista, I know it shouldn't take more than a minute when there is no line. Other than that, this Coffee Bean is a great place to come have a cup of coffee and hang out in the comfy lounge chairs and watch the 70" tv. I hope they start adding more locations in the DC Metro area as it is such a great alternative to Starbucks. read more

I am a Washingtonian who spent ten years of her life on the Left Coast. Five of them were in LA, and the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was my every day spot! I was so excited that they opened up a location here in DC... I hotfooted it over ASAP. I got my usual: a large skim English Breakfast Latte. It was just as good as I always remembered it to be, along with friendly and efficient staff and a gorgeous and well lit spot in which to enjoy. I also got a pain au chocolat, which was great, as well... can't wait to go back again and again and again-- especially when it heats up outside, because Ice Blendeds blow Frappucinos out the water. If an In-n-Out opens on Georgia Avenue, my LA faves in DC will be complete. read more

I'd give no stars if I could. They were 15 minutes late in opening. When I entered through a door that wasn't locked one of the workers told me to leave as they weren't open yet. No explanation or an apology for running late which would've made a big difference but the attitude and her brusqueness like I was the one who did something wrong was not my idea or anyone else's I'm sure of customer service. I'm a firm believer that you open as advertised. This in no way is a reflection of the chain in general but a serious complaint against people who clearly don't take pride in their work that they can't be civil and or be bothered to open as advertised. read more

Went to college in Cali and LOVE Coffee Bean, but this location left me a bit disappointed. The carmel iced blended was just as amazing as always, but the location (in a hotel lobby set back off the main street a good hike north of Dupont circle), and the lack of comfy "hang-out" seating have discouraged me from going back.
