It's my birthday, and this old lady STILL had not downloaded the SB app on my phone so that I could easily get my free vente drink. This time they made me, or no drink. Of course, my password didn't work. Even after I reset it! LOL. The sweet young man at the counter was just following procedure and would not give in. BUT the manager came over and knew this wasn't something I needed today. She said, "We got ya." Not the first time SB has come through. Happy to say the app is now on my phone and working. If you've been to a Starbucks before, this one is easy to navigate and as you'd expect. They sell all their usual drinks and food. Enjoying more sweet drinks, my go-to order is a tall white chocolate mocha. It's sweet, but good! This location is more spacious than other Starbucks nearby. There are a few tables, lots of space to wait for your drink, and two restrooms in the back. When I've gone, service is kind and the space is kept pretty clean. read more

This is a busy one. Best guess is lobbyists. Perhaps you can surround yourself, that's worse than these folks. Am a curmudgeon, and not a fan of these types, but a mocha frappe here is good. The headphones and the computer/phone, allow me to block this nonsense out. I do wish Starbucks would bring back Rift Valley Blend. Nice and effective employees. Wait times aren't long at all. As busy as this location is, one can see they work hard to keep it clean. This is an important aspect. It's comfortable enough, and it has WiFi. The customer service at this location (1401 New York Avenue, Washington, DC) is so astonishingly poor (unlike any other Starbucks in DC or anywhere else)!! A server named Noka epitomizes rudeness and indecency. If anyone from Starbucks monitors this, please take immediate action. Companies lose reputation and business due to poorly trained frontline employees. It was such a terrible experience after spending my hard-earned money at Starbucks. Let me tell you guys about this Starbucks...I entered this starbucks where i was immediately given a warm welcome by the cashier/barista with short red hair. She asked me what I would like and I tell her a pumpkin spice frap with caramel drizzle. Guys, she asked me if I wanted coffee or cream based. *Do not judge me as I did not know what she was asking lol as it very well may have been the first or second time that I was asked this question.* I asked for clarity, she provided it, and I chose to go coffee based. After paying for my order, she explained that she had to give me my change in coins due to the bill shortage which was fine because not much change was required. As I walked away, she said something along the lines of thanking me followed by my name. Honestly, after hearing that, I truly felt appreciated as a customer. I stood to the side where others were waiting for their drinks and when my name was called, I received my order (please view pictures). MY DRINK WAS COVERED IN CARAMEL DRIZZLE WHICH WAS PURELY LOVE AND BLISS! I DID NOT WANT TO DRINK IT BECAUSE I WAS SO THANKFUL FOR THE AMOUNT OF CARAMEL THE PUT ON AND IN MY DRINK! It was so beautiful that I took a picture! Overall: I love this starbucks as this one may have been the best one I have been to, in my opinion, thus far. Went here Sunday around noon because it was the closest coffee shop to where I was. There was a short line and I placed my order. The cashier, I think her name was Abi, had the best smile. This Starbucks store is perfectly located in the heart of Washington DC. Museums, monuments, and The Whitehouse are all within walking distance from here. It's also quite busy early in the morning due to its prime location. The store itself is very small as they tried to make the most out of this space. It has a narrow layout so it's not uncommon to see a line against against the wall as people wait to place their order. Given that it is so busy early in the morning, expect to feel a little claustrophobic at times. I found the employees to be very friendly and helpful. They have no problems offering up the code to the restroom but you may have to wait a while. They have two unisex restrooms that you'll see people waiting to use. On that particular day, a homeless person was inside. I was so happy to see that they didn't discriminate against him and that they willingly let him use their restroom. Of course everyone knows what Starbucks has to offer. Coffees, teas, or my favorite, hot cocoa can be made to your specifications. A variety of sandwiches and salads in the to go packs are also available. Popcorn and chips have also made their way to your local Starbucks stores. They've come a long way since their first store opened in 1971! I liked that despite the fact that it was busy during the morning that we visited, the store was still very clean. Their employees were very attentive and took pride in the appearance of the store. When we return to D.C., I plan to make this my go to location for my cup of hot cocoa or ice cold Frappuccino! read more

This review is specifically about Evan who manages getting the drinks and food out to customers in the morning on work days. It is always busy and she has a lot to manage, but Evan always manages to make a connection with customers and is beloved by the regulars at the store. Today, one of the bars was down and there was a huge line and wait at the store. This sort of thing happens and is out of anyone's control, but it meant the store was packed full of grumpy customers and, because of her role, Evan had to deal with the fallout from all of this. She handled it beautifully, making sure the customers felt cared for and responding with kindness and compassion when people were, frankly, acting like jerks. I could not imagine someone handling this stressful situation with more dignity or grace. Things break. Stuff happens. But it's people like Evan that take what could have been a disaster that drove customers away and make it into an experience that builds loyalty instead. read more

This is the worst Starbucks that I have ever been to! The workers are so rude and messed up both of my drinks and rolled their eyes when I asked to have them fixed. I have fond memories of going to a Starbucks in Sydney -Australia-, where my fave drink was their iced chai latte complete with two inches of fresh cream... A buddy and I came here on his suggestion, and I tried their Emperor's Clouds and Mist hot brewed tea. As you'd imagine, it's two tea bags -for a grande- and hot water. It was like earl grey, my former fave tea, and I did NOT feel the mist. I enjoyed the company way more than the tea or the wooden chair I was sitting on. They do have some cushy benches on one side of the shop, though. I did like the corner location because I could look out the window, though. I wouldn't say I'd never go back. read more

This is my usual go to pre meeting coffee spot. Mostly because it's convenient. I've been coming here for several years but my first review. Frankly I'm Goings have dramatically improved. The store refurbishment is nice. Seating is comfortable and store is clean. Music is not too loud and outdoor seats are a nice touch. The staff here is very efficient and friendly. Coffee is good too. Hey it's Starbucks so you should expect the McDonalds of coffee but I have to give props to the mangers and staff for upping their game. Well done. I came here several times while working at a client site in the area; usually I would get here around 6:30 in the morning and stay for 1-2 hours before heading to the client site. This location wasn't too far of a walk from Farragut North, where I got off (less than 1/2 mile) and it's pretty easy to spot since it's on a corner. I was never quite sure what side you were supposed to use to get to the cash register, but since there was never really a line when I got there, it wasn't a huge deal. The staff I encountered were friendly, and my drinks (everything from cold brews to lattes) always came out quickly. The location definitely got busier as the morning went on. There are 2 unisex restrooms, although when I was there one of them was always "occupied" even though no one was using it; one of the staff members went in at one point to check it out but I'm not sure if it was just out-of-order or something. There's a good amount of seating, including along the windows, where you have a view of the street; there's also some outdoor seating. The tables/chairs were pretty clean, although some had noticeable crumbs even at 6:30 in the morning. A pretty convenient Starbucks with a good amount of seating, but nothing special. read more

This place is like a void in the space-time continuum! I've had this review written for a couple days, but couldn't find this Starbucks location on the Starbucks website, nor was there an address listed on the storefront. Finally, after much digging around, I discovered that it isn't actually owned by Starbucks, but licensed to the Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel. Mystery solved! Without further ado... This place is set up a little weird, where you have to walk all the way around the back of the place to get to the end of the line to order. This wasn't immediately apparent to me, and I later realized that I almost cut someone off in line, because I walked in the door and immediately went up to the counter. Fortunately, my coworker let me know that she would have griped at me had I cut in line, so I can breathe easy, knowing that the order of the Starbucks universe has not been upset. Aside from that, this is your standard Starbucks. They make a solid soy misto, and they have a number of tables and single-person couch-like chairs to recline on for those who want a more laid back place to catch up or discuss work in a relaxed setting. The line can be pretty long early morning, but it moves fairly quickly. This shop is one of the more efficient and ordered Starbucks I've been to. - - - - - - Edit on 3/21/08: I'm upgrading a star (from three to four) because I apparently now qualify as a regular here. When I walk in, they already know what I want to order, and the cashiers simply confirm my grande soy misto, so by the time I hit the bar it's already sitting there waiting for me. The service here is by far the best I've ever seen at any Starbucks. There is this one barista ( I think her name is Evan) who is always handing people their orders. She knows a good amount of people by name and even if she doesn't she still makes an effort to connect with you. This location is extremely busy so I really don't know how she does it.
