Great coffee and ambiance indoors and outdoors. They have a large indoor space as well as outdoor seating. Plenty of people working indoors, a few with dogs. The coffee and espresso is delicious, and they'll serve you in mugs to stay if you ask! They also sell their coffee beans in refillable metal tins.

We came here twice on our trip as it was around the corner from our hotel. The service was always quick, our second day the cashier loved his job which was fun. He had great recommendations. We tried the maple latte, gingerbread latte, chai tea, and almond butter latte. All were good - I felt like the shots weren't consistent and sometimes tasted a little burnt. Their foam skills were top notch as we got cool designs both days. Definitely convenient for the area but I'm not sure I would go out of my way consistently to grab coffee here.

Clean, friendly and yuppy vibe makes this location a nice stop during work breaks. Staff and service always pleasant and coffee on point! I have yet to try any solid here but they do look appetizing and an array of pastries on display definitely neat! I noticed books on shelf and a sign says: take a book or leave a book and I did the latter, for I was just there for a quick lift me up before my office mtg...

Try the lavender latte if you even sort of like lavender. Very good

Always a fav. Service here was great and so glad I listen to suggestion of getting hot lavender latte!

Great service and fun seasonal coffees! I like their cherry blossom latte (more for the aesthetics than anything else, I'll admit). Their croissants are solid - not outstanding, but tasty and a good start to the morning, especially if you ask for them warmed up. The coffee itself isn't my favorite (I'm biased first because it's so close to Yellow, which has really creative coffees, and because even for DC I think $6.75 for a latte is a ton), but the hours are really convenient, the service is great, and the space is big and has loads of seating/areas to sit and work.

I ordered a container of their Autumn Blend coffee to take home with me. It has about 340 grams which should last us until the end of the year. Especially since we don't drink coffee everyday. While I was here I also got a decaf espresso to chill with while I was here. I love the vibe at this particular location and there is amole seating for a large number of customers. The people who work here are also very nice, and they took my order right away. What's even better is that they are having a promotion tomorrow where they are giving away gift cards to the first few customers. This cafe is also pretty quiet and I think it would be a great place to set-up and work. I didn't spend a lot of time here today, bit the place seems like it could be a lot of fun.

One of my go-to spots for coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and of course pup cups for my best pup friend! The service and friendly and quick while taking the time to make each drink the best. It's a great place to meet friends or study for an exam. The place can be quiet during the week day but hopping on a Saturday morning during the farmers market. My favorite time of year has begun, Fall seasonal drinks! My new favorite drink is their maple latte, hot or iced. I add some cinnamon and it reminds me of French toast!

Opened in March 2022, the Navy Yard location is the newest in the Compass Coffee family. After stopping in for a latte and a pastry, here's what's to love: 1) Space: It's one of their larger locations with plenty of tables, seats and even a raised area with more seats. With high ceilings and product spread throughout the shop, it feels big. They have wifi and outlets, making it a great place to work from. 2) Location: It's in Navy Yard really close to Nats Stadium and plenty of other shops. 3) Coffee: They have all the basic coffee items and a large menu of specialty and seasonal items, including a cherry blossom nitro brew during the spring. My go-to is an almond butter latte. Here's where they could improve after working through grand opening kinks: 1) Time: It took a very long time to get your coffee drink. Even without a line, there was a bit of a wait. Although unexpectedly long, I don't blame them. They just had one person making drinks on a Tuesday morning. Hopefully as the pandemic ends, they can hire more baristas to help. 2) Food: They have decent pastries and I love their ham and cheese croissant. However, the one at this location was pretty cold making the cheese very "block-y." 3) Parking: This isn't their fault, but there's no easy spot to park on the block so Metro/walk when you can.

It is wonderful the Navy Yard/Capitol Riverfront area is getting some more coffee shop competition. This Compass Coffee location is roomy with plenty of seats and an excellent air conditioning system if you want to cool off with an iced latte before heading into Nationals Park. It is right next to the current Bullpen location at the Half St Metro entrance/exit. Shout out to the employees here for their friendliness and efficiency and keeping the store clean each time in here.

This was a cute modern coffee shop. I liked that they had seasonal lattes that were creative! My latte was good and served at the right temp. However, service was blah and the people seemed irked by customers .

Shout out to Compass Coffee for always being amazing. My local compass is always quick and efficient, making it a great and easy way to grab a quick morning drink and pastry on the go. The staff is always nice and goes above and beyond. My boyfriend refuses to drink any other coffee other than compass, and they have the best iced chai latte I've ever had.

But, that's very preferential to my palate... the roast they serve from small planes is beautiful. The espresso beans are single origin and they serve a blend for their drip coffee. But the gem of this coffee shop is the baked goods! It is absolutely the most delicious and well made bread I've ever had in a coffee shop. I feel like they should be a bakery that serves coffee on the side. Their mushroom toast is out of this world! Like the best thing I've had in a long time. Their sourdough and multigrain bread is the foundation and the most beautiful one at that. The sauce is magnificent. Their croissant is as close to magic as you can get... I just wish I had come in time to have it warm. Their avocado toast is served with fresh piles of beautiful avocado. But again, the multigrain bread is the star! Their Pain Suisse... magic in a pastry... chocolate and pistachio wrapped in flaky croissant! beautiful and delicate... it's a must get!

One of the best bakeries in Washington, D.C. is here. Their original location is near Union Market…read morewith this location at The Wharf being their second. Here's what's going for them. 1) Food & Drink: Every pastry they make is worth the money and calories, especially their pain suisse. (It's the best I've ever had.) You can go savory with their quiche or ham and cheese croissant or go sweet with monkey bread, basque cheesecake, and more. To drink, they have a full coffee menu and free water in a jug at the condiment counter. 2) Service: Despite busyness, their staff often are patient, calm, and efficient. 3) Space: It's much larger than their original location with several long tables, small tables, window seats, and more. There's a unisex restroom in the back and a door that connects to their neighbor Politics & Prose. 4) Area: There are many restaurants and shops nearby along the water. Parking can be expensive or hard to find so take the Metro (Southwest Waterfront) or ride Capital Bikeshare.

We ordered the build your own omelette…read morewith roasted potatoes, french toast with berries, white chocolate chip coconut macadamia cookie, pain au chocolate croissant, blueberry scone, peppermint hot chocolate, and chai tea latte. Total came out to approximately $55. What's hot - Menu. Good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, even possibly vegans. There are sweet and savory options, eggs, french toast, salads, sandwiches, etc... - Quality. Excellent! All 3 of us really enjoyed the food that we ordered. Their french toast and omelettes are delicious. My husband particularly liked the maple syrup that was served with his french toast, because the maple flavor tasted a bit stronger than your average maple syrup. Their pastries are also delicious! Soft, good texture and not too sweet. Given the softness, my best guess is that their sweet treats are recently made. - Service. Pretty good. We did not wait very long for our orders to be ready. The hot foods, like the omelettes, french toast, and drinks, appear to be freshly made. - Price. Good value for money, given the quality and portions. - Location. Convenient location in D.C. However, given the location, be prepared for it to get busy quickly, which means decent lines and wait times. What's not - Interior space. Very tight squeeze inside. There are tables and chairs inside, but their biggest tables can only fit 4 people. If you have children with a stroller or whatever, be prepared to not have room inside. They have outside seating, but that's only conducive to when the weather is warm. This place appears to be popular, which means it can get packed very quickly and seating can be difficult to find. - Acoustics. They play relatively loud music inside, which makes it difficult to have conversations with those you're with. That the interior is small, the music travels easily, which does not help. - Omelette. Even though I liked the flavor of my omelette, it was rather thin. I prefer my omelette to be more weighty/fluffy in texture. Additionally, cheese is not automatically included with the omelette. I ordered mushrooms, red peppers, spinach, and bacon in my omelette. I mistakenly believed cheese was automatically included, but I was wrong. - Parking. Is not easy to find given the location. There is street parking, but it's very difficult to come by. Final Answer Would like to come back, but probably not a first choice given the tight squeeze of the interior. If I do return, would more likely than not order takeaway.

What keeps me coming back time and time again are their double-fried tostones. The texture and flavor is absolutely insane, and the sauce it comes with is to die for. The staff seemed a bit overburdened trying to keep up with orders and get everything out in time. That said, the young man and woman who prepared my order were kind and very focused on doing their best. I definitely plan to return and give them another try under less hectic conditions. This location is an entire vibe. It's tucked down a painted alley that leads you to a side entrance, which I actually preferred over the front. Parking is what it is at the Wharf, but I recommend parking near the museum and walking over. Once inside, you're met with gorgeous decor and a thoughtfully designed space that feels like a Spanish-style bar set in nature. The tile, the color palette, and the food and drink options all come together beautifully. I ordered the Carrot Cake Con Leche, which came out to about $8 after tax. It was tasty and a great treat after my morning run. It did take about 15 to 20 minutes to receive my order, but given how busy it was, that felt understandable. I'm looking forward to returning and experiencing it at a calmer time.
