The coffee and pastries are great especially with decent prices for the quality. Although the service was good but one guy with curly hair, glasses, and tanned skin was rude and didn't know how to reply to a simple thank you, instead of saying you're welcome he just looked at me dumbfounded. 9/17/24 Quick drop in for some Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearl tea latte! I had a gift card that I've been wanting to use and redeem. This is the only one in Lakewood as most of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf branches are closed down. There was hardly anybody at the location when I dropped by. There was only a couple of people sitting in the indoor seating area. I placed my order for the hot tea latte and I requested for half sweet this time in hindsight maybe I should've made it full because it didn't taste the way I remember and it was a little disappointing. It wasn't as rich or full body the way that I remember it was meh// that's the best description I could give it. This branch is situated in front of a high school and since we arrived before school, let out it was not busy at all. The restrooms needed a little TLC, there was no toilet paper, paper towel or toilet seat covers. There only two staff (baristas) on the crew. This coffee bean sucks. The employees are too busy chit chatting & aren't pay attention to customers. Waited for my drink for 15 min while a couple who came 5 mins after me got their whole order before me. I had one iced latte and the others had 2 drinks and pastries. Why is everything in Downey done with no effort, I got into this drink "Caramocha" bought one yesterday at a CB in commerce it was Great, got another one Thursday at the airport also great then I decide to go to Downey CB and the drink was water down, with hardly any whip cream, I really try with Downey but always a disappointment . Wow. I hardly ever get coffee from coffee bean, one of my friends had ordered us vanilla lattes from here a couple months ago and had them delivered and they were delicious! Today I woke up and decided to treat myself and my sister to vanilla lattes. I customized the lattes. One decaf and one regular. Both extra hot. When I received them, they were barely warm and it was not a delivery issue. Neither of the coffees were labeled. I'm highly sensitive to caffeine so decaf is my go to. We both tried our lattes and they tasted like absolutely nothing. Like milk. Very disappointed as these were almost $10 each. I will never be back. read more

Went on a Saturday morning. Like 10am. As early as it was they were already out of whip cream. Aside of the fact that they have a bad system for letting customers know their drink is ready. The brains are non-existent because they aren't all that welcoming or friendly at this Downey location on Firestone Blvd. The looks? It's just a regular run-of-the-mill CB&TL. I had an issue trying to place an order that is typically standard. When I tried to place this order via app, there were complications with even seeing the drink on the menu. I spoke with Michael who was extremely busy took the time to attempt to troubleshoot and place the order. Although he was clearly handling multiple duties he was patient without being condescending or rude. Genuinely patient and pleasant throughout the entire exchange. We weren't able to resolve the mystery of the drink being listed but he took my order and made my drink perfectly. Michael is an amazing asset to your store. I literally have to drive to the one near the five freeway just to get my drink and I live half a mile from this one. I went to this Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Downey on Sunday to meet a date there. First, when I inquired, "What kinds of brewed coffee do you have?" the girl behind the counter looked at me as if I was from another planet. After a moment of confusion, she said, "We have brewed coffee. Is that what you want?" I pointed at and read the sign over her head, and said, "It says Brazil and Bali Blue Moon. Is that what you currently have?" And she said, "Uh, yeah." So I ordered a Brazil coffee (regular prices are more expensive than Starbucks) and an egg and cheese sandwich. My friend ordered a tea, and the CB employee said, "Uh, we don't have any tea left." What do you mean, you don't have any tea left? You guys are called Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. It's in your name! Then I asked for just a cup of water, and she rang me up for an empty cup. I saw that they had free water and cups on the side, so I asked if she could remove that charge, and it took her about two minutes -- with a long line behind us -- to remove it. Of course, the credit card screen asked me for various levels of tip when she rang me up. Finally, I got my coffee and asked for two packets of sugar in the raw, or turbinado sugar, and they gave me two packets of plain white sugar. The sandwich also tasted pretty bland and dry. I asked for mustard or any kind of condiments, and they said they were all out. After we realized that they did have some iced teas, and the CB employee didn't seem to know that, we ordered an iced tea. There weren't that many places to sit, but luckily, I had staked a tiny table out earlier. Overall, the ambience is kind of blah. I noticed that the one trash container was piled up to the top, and no one was cleaning it out. So people piled their empty cups, paper and trash on top of it, and it was looking pretty bad. The volume of music in this place is exactly what the military does to torture captured undesirables. I have been coming here for years. In the past I done my work at this location without a problem. Music from the overhead speakers has always been at a bearable level enabling me to complete tasks, even working from 8 AM to 4 PM a couple times. I have invited clients to have lunch here and/or share a beverage. This ends now. I tried contacting customer service simply to inquire about the music that caused me to hand my drink over (i had only sipped it), tell them to throw it out and leave because the in store personnel stated that this was normal and wasn't ready to do anything about it.
