Pretty standard donut/sandwich spot. Clean, quick, and efficient. We got a jalapeño ham and cheese croissant, donut holes, and some sandwiches. These donuts are great! Soft, fresh, just the right amount of sweetness or filling. I've been coming here for 10+ years and just now writing a review. The owners are friendly and will remember you, your order, and more. There are regulars inside who sit with their coffee and donut, discussing life. The shop can handle HUGE pre-orders (I've done it), and will toss in extra donut holes for your kids when you order a dozen. Their only downfall (which is out of their hands) is that they are next to a bus stop, and there are often unhoused people loitering close by. I wish they could get some help with that. Golden West Donuts is an A-Ok Mom & Pop donut shop. Didn't notice any fancy gourmet donuts at their place. Only the classics. Bought me a Buttermilk Maple Bar and a Boston Creme donut. Both flavors tasted alright. I always want to try a Boston Creme donut whenever I visit a donut shop for the first time. Their version was lacking in the custard filling. Had to eat half the donut before I encountered the custard. It wasn't much either which was disappointing. They are more than just a donut shop. They also make fresh sandwiches. Going in, I was warmly greeted by the staff. With how busy it was, I did have a short wait before I was attended. However, I always see a wait for some donuts to be a good thing, as it points out how good they are. Once I placed my order, it didn't take long before I was given the dozen donuts! I got a great variety, including old fashioned donuts, cake donuts and even a couple of jelly filled donuts. Almost all were delicious, with the jelly ones just being a little too doughy. One thing to keep in mind is that at this time, there is a 79 cent charge for any small purchases with a credit card though it is is clearly posted. If you know you will be buying a small amount of donuts or the like, bringung cash may be the best! I've been coming here off and on for years, their donuts never taste greasy; I usually order chocolate twist and glazed twist. They have their loyal clients and I can tell because once they see a familiar face, their order is immediately prepared. I tried the old fashioned chocolate a few weeks ago and this is one of the best old fashioned I've tasted. I usually get half a dozen for $7 which seems to be the norm post pandemic. Purchased multiple cake frosted donuts that were ridiculously stacked on top of each other, can you imagine what would happen if you stacked cakes?, the top frosting layer now becomes the bottom layer of the one that was placed on top. On my way to Las Vegas, Siri told me to take an exit instead of sit in traffic. I am not from the area, so I listened. At the time, I was annoyed that I did, but after I found Golden West Donuts, I was excited. We took a 6am flight from San Francisco. We were tired, thirsty and hungry. We saw the donut shop from a red light, and decided this was the perfect place to stop. We were right! The woman who helped us was so nice. We were originally just going to get a bunch of donuts, but then noticed they had hot breakfast sandwiches. We took a moment to decide, and she was patient. So my partner literally lives across from this place and the bus stop we take to the gym is right in front of it. So one day we decided to get some donuts on the way since my partner was hungry and he bought a buttermilk and apple fritter. I took the fritter and let me tell you. It was like not apple fritter I tasted before. It had real apples in there, I was shocked. It tasted like a how I imagined an apple fritter would taste. I fell in love. The donut had a soft interior and of course the apples were smothered by the dough. You can see that they have, what seems to me like cinnamon. Not even Yum Yum Donut Shops have this. I'm not sure of any other places that put actual apples in their fritters. I don't remember if Cali Donuts have real apples, anyways... To get to the point, I would recommend this place to anyone. I was snapping a picture when the man asked me what am I doing? I first came to this donut shop about a year ago and now i go at least 2-3 days a week for their fresh coffee and hot coco especially when its cold. Their donuts are very good. I love rasberry jelly donuts lol and chocolate twist. Coffee and a ham, cheese, bacon & egg croissant are the best here. They also sell flavored coffee, some times i get the hawaiian hazelnut :) The people that work there are very nice and their service is great. What i like is that its very clean there. Gross!!! Went here late at night and noticed a few bugs crawling on the donuts. Looked over to the bottom left corner of the display case and saw a HUGE POOL of bugs crawling around, being attracted to the light in the case.
