Let me start with saying I hate getting my hair done. I'm awkward and shy, I've had bad experiences, and honestly don't like staring at myself in the mirror for an hour. But I had a great experience with Jamie. It was a consultation and haircut as my hair is incredibly damaged from chemical straightening at a different salon and I needed to find someone who could help. She gave me good advice and a haircut that removed more of the damage and it still looks good. My hair is going to be difficult and I'm happy that I found Jamie because I'm feeling hopeful. I am what some may consider obsessed with my stylist Terra and the Circle Salon. I have been a loyal guest here for the last three years, in that time I have received so many compliments on my hair cuts and hair color that I carry on me at all times my stylists business card. It is no exaggeration that people literally stop me in the streets and in stores to ask me where I get my hair done. Terra is amazing, she has not only given me the best cuts of my life, she has had the patience to teach me how to style my hair. Because of her I am now able to use bobby pins, create awesome up-do's, diffuse curls, use a curling iron and hot rollers-all of it. I've had every hair style imaginable, from classic bobs, to a-symmetrical long waves the cuts always hold their shape until the very end. Now I really have to gush about color. As a natural blonde I have always secretly wanted to go red but was just yo nervous to take the plunge. Terra inched me closer and closer never pushing me too hard. Needless to say I am now a red head. The quality of products here are amazing your color will be bright and shiny until the day you go back to re-color. I popped into this salon a few months ago because it's near my house and I was looking for a dry shampoo. I ended up talking to one of the stylists, Sarah Mya, and the receptionist for 30 minutes. They were just so nice! I never forgot that interaction. Fast forward to last night when I came in for a hair color appointment with Sarah Mya. She did an incredible job blending in my new root color with my current balayage color on the ends. And my bang trim looks great! I just still can't get over how NICE everyone here is - from Joelle up front, to Sarah Mya, to the other stylists...they made me feel right at home even though it was only my first visit. I have been with my regular stylist for nearly 6 years and feel horrible for "cheating" on him, but it's also really amazing to have a second spot nearby my house for when I don't want to trek across the city to get to him. They have a very nice environment and always offer wine/coffee/cookies. They keep very detailed notes in the client files so that if you end up having to be with someone different or go to a different salon out of town, you can know your color formulas and keep things consistent. As a frequent salon hopper, I've been to many across Chicagoland and Circle Salon is a new favorite. The good vibes in this place are palpable and it comes across in their customer service, the attention to detail is extraordinary. From the friendly front desk staff, to the complimentary wine, beer, coffee or tea (with a side of cookie), down to that curtain in the shampoo area that diffuses the light, the customer experience is clearly their priority. I went for the first time to see Jordan for some dimensional highlights. Before we even started, he spent actual time asking about my hair type and routine, and not just surface level stuff. He was kind enough to lend me his expertise, so I even came away with some new ideas on how to better care for my locks. As for how it turned out? Super fantastic, especially considering how vague I was about what I wanted. Basically I said, "something red and less boring" and Jordan just worked with it. He managed to warm up my complexion with a mixture of copper, red tones. On top of it all, The Circle Salon is something like one of the top most sustainable salons in the country. Two reasons you know you've entered a high quality salon: the place is spotless and every stylist has gorgeous locks. Walking into Circle on Friday, and noticing these two things immediately, I knew it was going to be a good experience. And it was. It's obvious this place is focused on customer service - drink menu, cookies and a warm hand towel right off the bat, a footrest to use while getting your hair washed, and an awesome scalp massage that the salon created just for their customers...need I go on? My stylist, Sarah E., is super talented at what she does, and it's obvious as soon as you sit down. She does a phenomenal job of explaining what she recommends and why, and she addresses questions/concerns with clear, concise answers that really make sense. It's so refreshing to be able to trust your hair in someone's hands, and you can certainly do that with her. Love love love!! I have been with the same stylist for 10 years and have begrudgingly been on the hunt for a new salon/stylist after moving. I have been to probably 6 or 7 salons in my search and they all failed to impress. From the minute I stepped into Circles I knew I would love it. Not only did they get me a same day appt but the cutie patootue receptionist was super sweet and welcoming. No snooty holier than thou assymetrical haircut hipster sneering at me while ignoring me at the same time. The stylist Sarah was super sweet and chatty and had lots of good bits of advice. She immediately understood what i was going for and the time flew by quickly. I also love the setup of back to back stations and mirrors that let you see your new hot hair from all angles. This place is super clean, cute, hip but not snooty, and you can tell the owners and managers have set a really great tone for their team and everyone is on the same page. So everyone, I've realized I have a type. No. not a boy type (well that too), but in this case I'm talking about my hair stylist type. Is it just coincidence that Frankie looks similar to my old favorite stylist in Houston? I think not. When it comes to my stylists, I think I'm just into a particular kind of guy - that super friendly, wish we were friends in real life, once long hair, now short hair (or no hair) wearing facial hair adorned male. And let me tell you ladies, this type has never failed me, and neither has Frankie. I originally found The Circle Salon via Groupon after a year and a half of living in Chicago and getting hair cuts each time I went back to Houston (which my hair will tell you was not often enough). I finally made the plunge and tried out The Circle Salon and couldn't be happier. The salon is beautiful, the stylists and Jodi (the salon manager) are incredibly nice and fun to talk to, and each and every time I leave loving my hair. And sometimes a little bit tips. Frankie (my stylist) is amazing. He sits down with me before my cut or treatment and really listens to what I want - even when I said I wanted to cut off about 8 inches of hair. He takes his time and meticulously cuts my hair while we share our new favorite restaurants and stories about our recent vacations. The length always turns out exactly the way I want it and the layers fall perfectly. Frankie definitely knows what he's doing and is great at it. I always leave really happy with my cut and style. And even when I was a tad unhappy once, I called the salon soon after my cut and Frankie welcomed me back with open arms to give me exactly what I wanted. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, you will receive incredible service from each person that works in the salon. I came here on Wednesday for a hair consultation (which was free) and made an appt with Megan on Friday. She blocked off four hours from her schedule because she knew it would take a LONG time to color correct my hair. From that moment, I knew that she is trustworthy and knew what she was doing. Since I used to dye my hair black, I had so many colors to lift on my ends. Any other salons I went to turned me away because they said it's impossible to reach the hair color I wanted (light brown). *super sad face* But Megan worked her magic. She got my hair color to the color she promised. I walked in the salon a little skeptical (bc I've been turned down by so many other salons) and walked out knowing that miracles do exist. I still have to go back a few more times before I get my hair to the color that I initially wanted. I want it to be next month already! She's also very experienced with the ombre technique. If any of you are looking for an experienced hair colorist, she's definitely you're go to girl. I love that the girls at the front desk are not snotty. I walked in while one of the girls were on the phone and I didn't get that "wait-a-minute-finger" but instead she quietly mouthed to me that she'll be with me in a minute and acknowledged my presence. She got off the phone and asked me if I wanted anything, and came back with what I asked for. I am so glad I found Stephen at Circle Salon. I have been looking to get my hair Thermal Reconditioned ever since I moved from LA to Chicago and all I find are BKT- which I am not a fan of. This salon was amazing, my hair looks amazing, they use fantastic products (I was specific about wanting Liscio for my TR) and beyond my great hair- the service was amazing. The price for this type of procedure can be all over the map, but they charge by the hour which I really appreciate because it is based on how long your procedure takes and the stylists time- not just a flat rate which in many cases is obscenely expensive! There was complimentary beer, wine and Stephen even fed my meter while my hair was processing! Plus, he is wicked funny. I have finally found my salon! read more

I love Montgomery at Marquin Salon to death. He does a phenomenal job straightening my hair-- but he just doesn't like to cut it. So I decided to visit Terra at Circle Salon who cut my hair last year when it was uber short. Terra is great at what she does. She listens to what you want and even if you don't have a picture, if you are able to articulate what you are trying to achieve she can pull it off. I was in and out of her chair in 30 minutes with a great cut and a huge smile on my face. Aside from that, the salon is chic and modern with a friendly staff. I've suffered a lot from distrust in hair stylist, it seems like everyone always seems to mess up my hair and not meet the same vision I have for my hair. Rita has finally met all my expectations, she's gone above and beyond. I came in wanting ombre and after having a horrible time at a salon that shall remain nameless Rita was able to restore confidence in my hair. I got ombre and a hair cut for what was a little pricey but to be quite honest, I don't regret a single penny of it. I will definitely be back here and asking for who I now consider my new stylist. Just got back from a full colour process and cut from Circle and I'm having buyer's remorse... Let me explain - bought a Living Social Deal ($40 or $85 worth of services) a couple weeks ago and rushed to book my appointment. They scheduled me with Steven - great. Now here's where I went wrong, and I totally admit this is my bad - I didn't bone up on the different stylists and their "belt levels" before I went to the salon (they operate on the martial arts system of belt colours - black belt being the highest) so I was unaware that Steven was a brown belt which charges at the top level of the pricing structure. Now Steven is AWESOME - I had a great time, good conversation, was pampered and relaxed, and my colour is GORGEOUS and well worth the expense, so I would give 5 stars for just that - however, my cut was a simple trim, took him less than 10 minutes to do and cost just as much as the colour. OUCH. By the time I tipped him I was out an additional $90 over and above the $85 deal. That sucks. I quite honestly could have gotten the same cut at Hair Cuttery and paid $15 (my hair is long and straight so honestly it's nothing special to cut at all). This is really nothing against Steven - I'd love to return to him to get a fun, funky, shorter "do" to see what he can really do as a stylist - I just don't think what I requested of him today was worth $90. So that's why the 3-star rating. Otherwise, the salon is comfy, the products are great and the customer service was excellent. Next time I'll just leave after the colour treatment and get a cheap cut where I can afford it. read more

I am a very fickle head of hair and haven't really committed to a salon in a few years... I think I am ready to "marry" The Circle Salon though. Erica highlighted and cut my hair perfectly. Here are the other reasons I'll go back: 1) Erica didn't abandon me-- one complaint I often have when getting my hair done is that sometimes the stylist will excessively multitask, disappearing for long intervals and leaving me bored and wondering whether the chemicals on my head are possibly going to make my hair fall out...didn't happen here. 2) Comfortable shampoo bowls! Adjustable bowls, reclining chairs. 3) Not overpriced. I paid around $150. 4) Very modern/stylish but comfy decor. No complaints!! I think we'll be 'together' for a long time! read more

I went to Circle Salon for the first time this past Saturday. I was going to a friend's wedding later that day so I wanted a blow out cuz I am incapable of doing that myself. Jessie was my stylist and she did an amazing job! I didn't give her much direction besides not wanting it stick straight and having curls at the end. The whole experience was good from beginning to end. I liked the separated area for washing hair. I was in heaven when she gave me a head massage. I'm not much of a talker when I get my hair done because I just enjoy zoning out and relaxing and she got that so that was great. She went above and beyond what she needed to to make my hair look good and I really appreciated it! Everyone who saw me after thought my hair looked great and I'm so glad I checked out Circle Salon and got Jessie! The Yelp discount is also a great benefit as well. I'd go back for sure! read more

I have to tell you, this place is wonderful! I had gotten a recommendation from a girlfriend to bring my mom here. My girlfriend told me that Jamie was the best hairstylist she knew... and she's right! My mom had been bugging me about wanting to do a "make over". And I did a lot of research to find the best place, for my mom to feel very special for a gift. Oh my gosh, Jamie and Clayton are the best. The totally helped me and my sister plan the most perfect gift to my mom, the perfect hairstyle and making her feel oh so special. And they were even conveniently located near a couple nail salons where while my mom's color was processing, we could easily get our nails done! And while my mom had a lot of stuff done, pricing was right in line with what we were expecting. So you get awesome service, and awesome style at a reasonable price. My mom (who lives in Wisconsin) plans to make a trip back for a touch up before they head to Florida in the fall. So she's willing to travel a couple hours for the professional service! Corrective Color. For any blonde, turned brunette, trying to get blonde again- you know, it can be the most traumatic experience of your life. Well...at least of your year. Tiffany stepped up to the plate, er, chair like a champ. She turned my boxed reddish brunette into a warm blonde. It looked great, but my picky self decided I would rather have lighter hair the next morning (her day off) and, get this, SHE CAME IN ON HER DAY OFF to give me highlights. How amazing is she? Let me count the ways: 1) she is really fun, 2) she remembers everything about my life between visits, 3) she made my bangs side sweep like a red carpet movie star!! 4) her prices are outstanding! 5) did I mention coming in on her day off?? Also - THEY GIVE YOU COOKIES! They have a beverage menu and hot towels. They use wonderful products. And in a homey, friendly, comfortably environment! I have remained super happy with my haircuts. I went in a few weeks ago to see Steve and got my hair color...it's great, beautiful shine health red. Love it! I also indulged and got the Brazilian Blowout, a straighting system. I was a little worried about damage but the process isn't as harsh like many other straighteners, and weeks later I can tell you my hair is still silky, soft, and smooth. The blowout doesn't make your hair super straight but it gets hair under control and I love love love it! read more

Yes, I may have found "the one." Finally. I've lived in Chicago a little over two years now, and have been bouncing from salon to salon, stylist to stylist, trying to find that one person who could cut my hair just perfectly and keep a conversation. Thank you Erica! She gave me the cutest cut and color. The layers work perfectly with my natural waves... waves that I used to curse, but now I adore them! I can just let my hair air dry and it looks great. I haven't been this happy about a haircut in a while. And, to top it all off, I wasn't at the salon all day long! She really did a great job getting me in and out quickly... no wasted time sitting in a chair. Plus, the little perks like cookies and drinks are appreciated! I originally heard about this place last summer when they had a giltcity deal for feather hair extensions. Right when I walked into the place for the first time I was amazed at the service. They took my coat and offered me something to drink with cookies and a hot towel. They paired me up with Mo who was super nice and sweet. I was just amazed at the work environment there it really just feels like one of those movies where all the ladies in a salon are talking it up about the town and catching up on the latest gossip. I actually really liked my experience with Circle and ended up booking a cut with them, and keep in mind I was never the type to spend more than 30 bucks on a hair cut so I was a little apprehensive about dishing out the cash for a cut with them.,BUT let me tell you it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! Whenever I go for a cut I usually never know what will work for me and what I want but Mo was really helpful and made great suggestions that would work for me. What I didn't realize was that the wash along with a great scalp massage and a blow dry was included in the price where other salons tack it on top of the cut price so it kind of always even's out. The other thing that I love about the Circle Salon are their hair products. I went through a phase where my hair was breaking and falling out because of all the harsh chemicals in a lot of other hair products but the circle salon's products really helped my hair out and I noticed that my hair is a lot healthier now. I have also have gotten my hair colored and my makeup done for my brother's wedding with Mo and all I have to say is it was Perfect! Having just joined Yelp, I wanted to make sure was the first review I write. I've been going to the Circle Salon for about a year now and it's like my second home. I see Magen S. and she is by far the best stylist I've ever had! When I started going there my hair was so 'blah' and now it's as healthy as it has ever been and I get complements on the color all the time. She always has a new hair style, product or color to try. We have so much fun! The salon itself is also so much fun to go to! The customer-service/front desk ladies are fantastic. They always offer refreshments and yummy cookies. The one thing I like the best is that the salon strives to be as eco-friendly as possible with their products, tools, cleaning products, etc. I love the products they sell (Davines) as they have something for every type of hair.
