My family comes to Hershey every Christmas season, so we decided to make reservations at the Chocolatier again. I really love that there is an option for a nice, sit down restaurant right outside the park! We were seated a few minutes after our reservation time. Our server was nice and took our drink/appetizer order right away. The soft pretzel bites were so good! They came out right away and were the perfect app. The cheese sauce and honey mustard dips were a great addition. Our entrees took a while to come out. Once we got them though, everyone enjoyed them! I went with the Take 5 Reese's chicken sandwich. I was skeptical, but intrigued! I'm so happy I got it. I loved the pretzel bun and the peanut butter sauce and jalapeno caramel were awesome! The peanut butter sauce was similar to a thai peanut sauce and the bacon with chocolate drizzle was not chocolatey at all to me... more of just a salty/sweet flavor. I upgraded to sweet potato waffle fries. They were good, but they could have been much warmer. We opted not to do dessert, since we were heading into the park, but the desserts are awesome! We had 2 amazing days at Hershey Park and had to make reservations for the Chocolatier with their chocolate forward menu. The location is about the store and there is outside seating as well. The restaurant itself is very cute with the carousel horses at the bar and booths that are old rides seating. We got to sit in the circular dome booth which I had recorded but lost the video. I read other reviews that said the food was overrated and overpriced but I needed to see for myself. We were a party of 5 and stuck to apps as we were going back into the park for more fun and snacks. The short rib flatbread was very tasty and reasonably priced. I loved the crunchy onions topping it. We also got the pulled pork fries which were really good. Both had the chocolate bbq sauce which was very tasty and not chocolate heavy. My niece got a salad and the raspberry chocolate dressing was really good!!! The drinks were impressive and so yummy we got the martini flight and all were great and the next day I got the frozen chocolatier which was amazing and refreshing. I liked the layout of the restaurant with an open kitchen to view the food being prepared and the wall of Hershey history by the restrooms. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience here. I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant because I had seen good reviews on social media. We came as a party of 4 ( 2 toddlers) and waited 45 mins for food. The restaurant was not busy. I asked the waiter about our food he said he would check. He came back and said they were waiting for the salad. This is absolutely unacceptable to wait 45 mins for a salad, tacos and a kids pizza. Food was mid. Very over priced. Some say it's overrated, but I think it's a restaurant everyone should hit up if you're visiting Hershey park. The food was all delicious and had a fun theme around them. The appetizer sampler is definitely worth it if you have the right party size of 4 or more. The hershey's wings definitely the highlight of my meal. This is a fun visit when you are at Hershey Park or after a day at the park, but if you go just to the restaurant, you still have to pay $15-20 for parking, which I think is ridiculous. There should be parking validation after your meal. The food is good, decently average quality for the price. The flatbread was the best part and you are really paying for the novelty. The food and drinks here were amazing. I had the Ghostini (seasonal) that was much like a White Russian. It was really good and the cocktails all were pretty cool looking. Points off for theme park prices which is to be expected I suppose but the food was much better than expected. They do hook it up with the meat on the loaded Mac and cheese, salmon portions on kids menu and drinks were very boozy so from that perspective a good value. With that said, our party of 5 ordered 2 kids meals, a salmon salad, and a burger. My salmon salad was actually done well. My watermelon jolly rancher martini was all sugar and no alcohol. Portions are decent, esp the kids meals- they were generous portions. Our table inside (entire restaurant is on the second floor) had a nice view of the park and gift shop. Service was good. I've seen some people just go for the drinks, but Honestly, their mocktails are better than their adult beverages. The adult beverages taste like alcohol without much flavor. The ferris wheel is A LOT of food. Definitely worth the money. IMO, skip the grilled chicken options. The chicken is dry and flavorless. Filet mignon meal was great, but definitely on the pricey side. If they're cooked long enough, the cocoa dusted carrots are delicious! The last time, around Halloween, the carrots were hard and undercooked. Disappointing. Loaded fries are yummy, and my sister raves about the crispy chicken and mashed potatoes. Their potatoes are so good, we ordered a to-go portion. Always great service in the main restaurant area. The Friday before Halloween, we had to sit in the bar area even though tables were not being used in the restaurant. We felt ignored and sensed an attitude from one of the female bartenders there. This was a truly disappointing $400 experience. I made a reservation for a family outing to celebrate my brother and sister-in-law's birthdays, as we all traveled to celebrate with our parents and kids. We were seated late, with hungry kids in tow. We asked for the kids entrees to come out at the same time as appetizers - 40 minutes later, no server in sight, we tracked down someone, and then the food came out. Two minutes later (no exaggeration) the adult entrees came out. My mother's steak was cold - and it didn't come back until after everyone else had finished their food. At no point was there an apology. No food was comped. We were given a pittance of a discount. There was no consideration of timing with 4 kids under 5. The unhappy servers along with subpar food make this place a one and done. We ordered Soft Pretzel dippers to start and they came out in like 5 minutes. They were sitting under a heat lamp as they were crispy, not soft. The entrees took forever to come out...like over 40 mins and the place wasn't too busy. It had no flavor, you can tell it was a low quality grade food and it was all very hard and overcooked, so much so it was hard to even eat. We got the big appetizer on the Ferris wheel. (I really want to buy one of those). The appetizer came and was good. Everything above is why I had to give at least two stars. While our Black Widow & Reese's Peanut Butter Milkshakes were a foodie photographers w*t dream, the actual taste left us disappointed & slightly nauseous. The shakes themselves, while overly sweet, were enjoyable but all the extras were synthetic and tasteless. The fake whipped cream greased your throat. Great overall experience. Definitely recommend making a reservation. Some of the menu items were pricey but overall it was good quality food and a great experience. We went there since we wanted to go to the Horror nights and I've been waiting to go to the chocolatier. We shared an app and a sundae which they both were pretty good. I really enjoyed their chocolate infused bbq sauce. As other yelp members suggested to not get the Ferris wheel app and I can see why. Our wheel came with pretzel bites with mustard which was probably my least favorite on here as everything else was just soo much better from the chocolate chicken wings to the fried avocados with that aioli to the chicken tenders to that super yummy Buffalo cheese dip! Everything from the wheel was just perfect for us all to share and also white filling! Of the many delicious options I went with the chocolate bbq pulled pork sandwich as that just sounded good for the time being and let me say it was just perfect as the whole sandwich was totally yummy and that bbq sauce is some of the most unique sauce I've ever had it was just soooo good! My friends and family that were with us all enjoyed their meals and their milkshakes and like seriously everything was delicious so much so that you if your in Hersheypark just come here to eat as it's the best place here! So during season they get packed so plan accordingly as they allow reservations online and they have a happy hour during the week on days that the park is closed which is one of the days we went even with us getting here around 5pm they were still getting busy so just make sure you have those reservations! If you have a season pass for Hersheypark you get a discount so don't forget to use that! We were at the park for a company picnic type of event. I can't be in the sun so my husband and I spent the day hopping from covered location to covered location while the kids and their SOs enjoyed the rides. There are not a lot of covered things to do other than shop or sit. After killing some time just relaxing and people watching, we decided to try the restaurant. We were there for what I'd call the early dinner rush. We opted to sit at the bar so we didn't have to wait for a table (even though there were several available). We weren't particularly hungry so we decided to share the Chocolatetown Burger: Thick Cut Bacon, Smoked Cheddar, Hershey's Chocolate Drizzled Potato Chips. The bacon was excellent, the cheddar didn't really taste smoky, and the chocolate drizzled potato chips were a nice crunchy addition (think rippled chips with chocolate sauce). The burger was excellent and the side of fries was good. It was more than enough for two slightly hungry people. I can't find fault with the burger or any of the components. It was about $19 which is a lot for a burger, but it was able to serve two people. My husband had one of the cocktails. The chocolate ones run a little over $15. I can't remember which one he had but he said it was good. I can't get my head around $15 cocktails but I'm super cheap. The women at the end of the bar were drinking all the fun drinks and they (loudly) exclaimed each one as even better than the one before. The two them, with drinks and food, easily racked up a bar tab over $150 in about two hours. We managed to get out of there for around $50. The bartenders were great. It did take quite a while to get our food. We were expecting a quick drink and a light meal. It took at least 2 hours and the place wasn't packed. I can't imagine what the wait is like when every table is filled. The vibe reminds me of an old bar with whimsical accents like carousel horses. The Hershey branding is there. Many of the dishes and drinks are what you'd find at a typical bar/restaurant, but they add a squirt of chocolate sauce or some peanut butter and consider it Hersheyized. This is not a bargain. But like the rest of the park, your wallet is much smaller than when you entered. It's all over priced. If I eat here again, I'll one against split a burger and the next time I'll order dessert. Some of them look really good. I saw several people with the appetizer sampler think and it all looked like it came out of a freezer at the local grocery store. As Hershey Parks season pass holders, we had wanted to try the Chocolatier for awhile. I must say it was mostly disappointing. Upon walking into the restaurant, the place was so bright, the lights were almost blinding. Unfortunately this also highlighted the unbussed tables and the trash on the floor under the bar and tables. We decided to go ahead and wait for a table regardless. Shortly after being seated, we ordered drinks from the bar along with our dinner food order. I had the squash soup which was delicious and ate this while still waiting for our drinks. I finished my soup and the entrees arrived (still no drinks). About halfway through our meal, the drinks showed up (flat beer and cocktail with melting ice) which we politely declined. My harvest salad was great and so was my husband's burger and that's why I'm saying 'maybe' we will return someday. So- I'm guessing the Chocolatier might be very short-staffed and staff might need more training along with management. Hopefully Hershey will make some improvements here as I think this could be a good restaurant- maybe we will give it another try sometime (but only if they turn the fluorescent lights down)!! read more

When we got there staff was friendly, and we were seated about 10 minutes after we checked in for our reservation. My seat faced the kitchen, which is where all my problems stem from. I watch some sweep the floors, wipe sweat from their brow and then touch countless plates without gloves being changed. Someone's pony tail whipping around and into meals as she's expo-ing plates out. Our food comes out, I can't eat. I look at my son's Mac and cheese and I realize that I'm paying for Kraft Mac n cheese. My sandwich looked delicious, but I wasn't going to eat after what I just watched. I was disappointed with the food. For the price, I thought it should taste a lot better and be unique. I specifically ordered a dish that incorporated chocolate, expecting a ton of flavor. It was just a normal steak and normal mashed potatoes and normal carrots. They were stingy with sauces for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I didn't find anything wrong with service or ambience but nothing was super amazing either. My review score is based solely on my disappointment with flavor--or lack thereof. Another member of my party said her chicken was dry and tough as well. A different member ordered a cheeseburger and said it was great though. So it probably depends on what you order and your expectations. If you're looking for Food Network worthy dishes, try another restaurant. If you're at the park and hungry, maybe just order a cheeseburger and a milkshake. NOTE: We had a person with mobility issues in our party and we went when the park was not opened. Parking for this restaurant is NOT ADA acceptable. There is a LOT of walking and there are stairs (a ramp is there but it's a long walk). So much potential. So much work to do. Please, please, please start accepting reservations. Why have 2-3 hour wait times?? That makes no sense at all! The demand for this restaurant is there - just make it easier on your staff and your patrons and accept reservations. We tried the first time to go for dinner two nights ago. After waiting in a line for about 15 minutes I approached the hostess and was told names were no longer being taken. Here's my question, why not post a sign or station someone at the bottom of the steps to let people know that? Last night we tried again, earlier this time and now found someone stationed at the bottom of the steps (hooray - good work there) to be told again no additional names were being taken. Today we got smart - lunch instead. We arrived at 10:25 am for an 11 am opening to find a line of two other families had already formed. We joined the line. They were told that at 10:40 that names would be added to the waiting list, but they needed to wait at the bottoms of the steps. 10:40 passed. 10:45 passed. Now about 7 other families had joined the line in the lobby. Finally at 10:50 a man decided to check and was told to proceed up the steps. Here's the thing ... you know a line is forming downstairs, why not invite the guests upstairs when you're ready to add names to the list? Simple customer service goes a long way. Now all of the people proceed to the steps to form a line to get to the hostess - again, if names were added when they arrived (or you accepted reservations) this would have avoided this rush. The wait staff was standing ready to go and the first family was called at 1103. Again, why the delay? I know it's only 3 minutes, but it's unnecessary. The next family at 1105, and we were called at 1107. Poor planning and execution when you are now turning people away because you are telling them it will be more than an hour wait. There's staff ready and tables open. This is a pretty easy fix! Anyway, on to the food and drinks ... the cocktail list is fun! We tried the Peanut butter fusion old fashion and the s'mores martini. Both great! The kids LOVED the cotton candy fizz. We saw several milkshakes be delivered to other tables, but unfortunately we were waaaay too full to try those. The fried avocado was unique and tasty. The Ferris wheel sampler was nothing special other than the adorable presentation - this app arrived after the rest of our meals because our waitress forgot to put it in. I'm not sure if we would have enjoyed it more at the beginning of the meal, but we certainly understand mistakes happen. Not a big deal. The flatbreads were good. The salads were crisp and tasty. The Cuban and Mac and cheese (the pork was tasty) were done just right. The burger was very overcooked. The decor is fun and some is from old rides. It's clean and open. This place has so much potential. I know it just opened - but at a month in, the basic seating issues should be fixed when you know you have a high demand. We have tried it twice. Both times we had a wait, not that big of a deal. You give them your number and they text you when the table is ready. You have a half an hour to respond and get to the resturant so if you are the park you don't have to wait at the resturant. The food is pretty good, a little pricey. We ended up splitting an entree so we could get the dessert. Service the last time was a tad off. Our waters went empty. Being brand new this year, The Chocolatier still has a lot of kinks to work out. Number one being they are severely understaffed, and number two being that there needs to be better communication regarding availability of tables. We arrived at 7 PM and were told they were not accepting any more tables because at 6 PM they were on a 3 hour wait. However, after asking about the outside bar area that had tons of open tables, we were told we could sit anywhere outside that wasn't a high top table. There were several low tables that were available so we decided to sit there and order from the bar--which we wouldn't have known if we hadn't specifically asked! It took almost 20 minutes for the bartender to take our order because there were only two for the entire outdoor area who were busy making drinks and taking orders. The food is definitely overpriced, which is on par for being a restaurant attached to a theme park. However, the food was just okay. The best thing on the menu is clearly their desserts, however paying $17 for a milkshake you can also get in the park (without a 30 min wait) is a bit ridiculous. I'm not going to lie though, it is amazing. The best food item we ordered was the fried chicken sandwich--it was HUGE and the chicken was really tasty! On the other hand, the crispy avocado was overbreaded and tasted more like fish sticks than avocado (yuck.) Overall, it was fun to experience the new restaurant--however when visiting Hershey, I probably wouldn't return and I would just get my chocolate milkshake fix at Simply Chocolate in the park and save some time! read more
