Giving reviews are, first visit and then rate and review after or during the visit. Well, this review is a bit different due to the fact that I have eaten at The Chef's Corner three times, not remembering to give my review., so her it is. Coming to The Chef's Corner I found a strip of metered parking on the same street of the restaurant which was very convenient. Walking inside, the spacious corner location was immediately bright, with natural sunlight pouring in and giving the space a warm, inviting aura. A young man by the name of Matt, approached me, gave me a stellar greeting, and inquired how he can help me. I replied in like manner and took a seat as he directed. Matt was very professional and thorough, providing impeccable service, asking all of the right question to accommodate me better, e.g. what I will be drinking, coffee, water, honey, sugar anything else before you make your order. He gave me the menu and of course questions did arise. Matt's ability to answer my questions pertaining to different dishes, was very relieving and satisfying, the thing I noticed most, he did not miss a stride or stammer, he was totally confident and self-assured, answering with a smile and pleasant tone. I finally ordered the scrambled eggs mixed with diced steak @ 1$17.68. It came with peppers, onion, tortilla chips, Monterey Jack Cheese, homemade sweet potato chips & guacamole. Matt provide a spicey chipotle sauce. Although the meal was delicious as it was, the spicey sauce kicked a field goal and scored tremendously. Just the right heat and not saturating the meal with spiciness. The Sweet potato chips had two textures, crunchie and a few pieces were too supple, regardless, it paired well with the guacamole. In conclusion, I did not mind the suggested tip indicated on the receipt and I do prefer it at times when the wait staff performs sup par but a 22% was a great injustice and an insult so, in my appreciation, I gave well above that. I am so pleased with this restaurant, in comparison to my first and second visit, the service is consistent being five stars all around. Good food, good service, good atmosphere, all the right reasons to... Inspire more, Yelp more!
Last week friends and I had an amazing breakfast/brunch experience at Mineola's Chef's Corner! The caramel latte was a game-changer - creamy, rich, and that caramel drizzle though! Paired it with their mouthwatering omelet, crispy potatoes, and it was the perfect start to the day. The steak quesadilla didn't disappoint either - perfectly cooked, loaded with flavor, and those toppings! My friend's French toast was indulgent, topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, and powdered sugar. Service was top-notch, and the cozy atmosphere had us feeling right at home. Definitely a spot we'll be back to soon!
Great service! Choose your seat! The staff works as a team! The greek omelet and the shrimp omelet were both delicious! The sourdough toast and potatoes were a perfect accompaniment. Added a side of crispy ass bacon, a great breakfast that kept me full until dinner! The coffee is decent and they were on point when our cups ran low!
Wow what can I say?! Tres lèche pancakes so good, I'm not even a tres lèche person but the French toast amazing and not too sweet. Eggs were good no complaints. Chicken sandwich was good only thing the patty is very thin. Kinda glad I added bacon and avocados to fill the sandwich up. But the grill chicken was good flavor wise. But this mango drink was my favorite holy smokes I never thought to add champagne to a smoothie. But the best idea I don't drink champagne often but the bubbles to smoothie ratio #perfect taste like they picked the mangos off the tree. Would recommend 10xs over and I will be back.
The pancakes 100% live up to the hype! They are so light and fluffy. Smell and taste incredible. Definitely my new pancake spot. This spot is so unfussy. It's a simple menu but the quality is top tier. I loveeee their sweet potato crisps with their guacamole sauce. I would buy a bag and tub of them easily. The service is great. They work as a team so you don't get one particular server. But they are all fantastic. Note that it does get busy fast plus they do take out orders. And with the hospital and offices being their neighbors you do have to be paitent at times. But you are not being neglected purposely, they do get backed up during peak times.
Me and my plus one stopped by Chef's Corner in Mineola for a quick bite to eat for breakfast and ended up really impressed. I ordered eggs with diced steak and a side of sweet potato chips, very simple, but everything was spot-on. The eggs were cooked just right (not runny or soft), and the diced steak was flavorful, tender, and nicely seasoned. What really stood out were the sweet potato chips, perfectly crisp, not greasy, and with just the right touch of natural sweetness. You can tell they take pride in doing the basics well. The place seems cozy, casual and service was friendly and efficient. If you're in the area and want a solid, satisfying meal without any fuss, Chef's Corner is definitely a nice place to visit.
Food- 4/5 Service- 4/5 Ambiance- 4/5 My favorite thing about The Chefs Corner is the chicken gyro! It is DELICIOUS! Thats a 5/5. I've even come here on my birthday to have that dish. More recently I've tried their steak and eggs special for brunch. The chimichurri was DELICIOUS AND FRESH! I asked for my steak cooked to medium and it was well done. Highly recommend the muffin it's homemade and toasted to perfection! I had the banana muffin which came with a sort of strawberry compote. The chicken gyro is seriously 2 thumbs up and I will def. continue to return for the gyro!
So far, just walked in with my service dog and they are telling me I can't have him here. This is what happens when you have people get certificates for so called service dogs. So when the server told me I couldn't have my service dog I asked her for a manager. She went to the back and came back to tell us that the Sanitation Dept told them they can't have dogs. I told her he isn't a pet. He's a service dog. Then she said oh well the manager said as long as he stays under the table. I'm like ok but you need to understand the difference between a regular dog and a service dog who is wearing his license. All of the sudden a old man wearing a chefs coat asked me if I'm BLIND. I'm like what?? Only blind people can have a service dog?? Proves that they have no idea between what a regular pet is and what a service dog is. So I'd like to know what Sanitation Dept to report them too and who at the sanitation dept should we report for saying that service dogs aren't allowed in restaurants? Needless to say... we left. Btw the server said we walked in with an attitude. Lmao. We came to have breakfast before our day starts and she didn't like the fact that I asked for a manager.
It's a great work time lunch spot when I wanna get out and sit down for a nice meal. Always speedy service, and delicious too. The open windows on a beautiful sunny day is really enjoyable. It feels like a restaurant you'd find in the city. The sweet potato chips are addicting! Options for vegetarians available. I'm looking forward to having breakfast here and checking out that part of the menu. read more

Probably the best breakfast and lunch spot in the area. Wide range of food with a Mexican emphasis from omelettes to desserts. Sandwiches, salads, burgers, it's all good. Soups are uniformly excellent, which is rare for any eatery. Only reason not five stars is that it can get busy at lunch time and that takes a toll on service. read more

Great brunch spot walking distance from my house. So glad it made it through the pandemic. Its right by the hospital so a lot of our hero health-care workers came by to pick up food, which is encouraging. Super nice wait staff. The decor is nothing fancy and tables were a little wobbly. it was a beautiful day and the front was open letting in the fresh air. We had the latte, cafe con Leche and they were good. For brunch I had the Eggs Benedict and I really enjoyed it. The English Muffins were home made which was a treat. My hubby had the French Toast and it was very good. Can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu, like their smoothies and pumpkin muffins. read more
I haven't been back in a few years, but damn did I miss this place! Had the same exact meals I order during my last visit, and I feel like the food tastes even better than last time. It is a hidden treasure, and neighborhood gem for sure. I wanted a basket of the biscuits the eggs benedict came on. And ask for Chipotle sauce, and dunk everything in it. Ordered DoorDash, delivery was quick. Food was fresh, good portion, although somewhat lacking flavor. Quite bland for what I was expecting. I added my own dressing to the salad and hot sauce to the gyro. Overall pretty good though! read more

Chef's corner was recommended by a colleague while I working in Mineola. It's the hit lunch spot for many of the health care workers as NYU Langone Long Island Hospital is right around the corner. I was told to try the crab sandwich which is a Thursday special and of course I did. It was a huge sandwich as was soooo delicious. Service was great and fast. I will be back the next time I am in Mineola. read more
I get the same thing every time I come here. It's always great. Oatmeal Iced coffee Mini pumpkin muffin with jam Good always comes in about 10 minutes or less the staff always remembers me. If you happen to be visiting Winthrop hospital this is a great place to grab a bite in. If you're catching the train it's a good to start your day here before your travels. Parking is free on Sunday. It can be a little hard to find parking other days. My entire breakfast usually costs about $10-$12. They serve breakfast and lunch. read more
Just arrived for some breakfast and unwinding before work. Got a taste of the southern pecan coffee. It tastes like candied pecans but without all of the sugar! Yumm Also ordered the oatmeal with berries and bananas dish (comes with honey and brown sugar on the side) and 2 poached eggs with sourdough toast. Everything is simple yet tasty. The hub and I went for breakfast. It's cute little place with attentive staff. The prices are average with a limited menu. He got the eggs Benedict. Lemon over load! The hollandaise sauce has too much lemon in it. Instead of an English muffin they use home made LEMON biscuits, and serve it with a mixed green salad. I don't like salad with eggs. That's just not my thing. Now the salad dressing was good though. The hash browns tasty. The poached egg was over cooked. When you cut into it it didn't ooze out. I ordered the pumpkin muffin and it was heavy and grainy it tasted like an oatmeal cookie. read more

I finally was able to try The Chef's Corner. I'm glad I did. I ordered the vegetable burger. The gentleman who I spoke with told me it was a lot of vegetables on a bun. It was not a vegetable patty. It was wonderful. I scarfed it down like nobody's business. I was impressed. I will definitely go back. read more
I can't tell you how many times I've driven past this place have never gone in. Was looking for a good brunch spot and I'm so glad I went. When you walk in it's open seating so I grabbed a spot with my grandmother and waited for someone to come over. We each ordered a coffee and it came quite quickly. I didn't get a chance to catch her name but she seemed sweet. We looked over the menu and I ended up ordering the Spicy Italian Sausage Frittata with multigrain bread and my grandmother got the Greek Omelette no tomatoes. The food did take a little while to get out but we didn't mind. What's neat about this place is that it's a restaurant but you can also order over the phone it seemed and come in to place an order. It was a tad hectic, it seemed like the staff never stopped moving around from one place to another. The food eventually came out and was not piping hot but smelled incredible. It was only after I started eating that I asked for the hot sauce expecting like a Tabasco or something generic. Our waitress brought me over the homemade stuff and my god was it spicy. If you like spice and good flavor I cannot recommend it enough, if they had sold it in a bottle I would have bought that as well. All in all the food was incredible but it only gets 4 stars because while the waitstaff is sweet it appears they are slightly understaffed so it's hard to get their attention if you need something. read more
AYOOO! First off the food was delivered 20 mins before the projected delivery time- I was starting to get hangry and y'all really came through for a sista, thank you. I've had The Chef's Corner bookmarked for a while, multiple ROTD and a convenient location puts this place on my radar. It's not a diner, its more of a cafe? Very open and inviting. I'm outside typing this review in the "Dining District" of Roosevelt field, get this review started! There are metered parking spots on the side of The Chef's Corner. I pull into a primo spot and have one quarter for the meter. I ask a waitress for a quarter (she's the owner) and the meter is broken! We laughed and I gave her back her quarter. Once inside, there is a cozy dining room with a open kitchen passing out orders. I'm seated and there are no drinks on the menu? I asked what's what and the waitress read off what's available. Scanning the menu, there are nice breakfast and lunch choices. Its hot outside and I don't want to eat a big burger so I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon. Reading this dish, The Chef's Corner takes Eggs Benedict and kicks it up by changing the meat to salmon and the English Muffin is swapped for a homemade biscuit. Then they add a nice side salad along with another side of potatoes/peppers & onions. My meal comes out super quick, I'm surprised how fast the dish came to me. The EB? Cooked perfectly and the sauce wasn't too overpowering. The salad had a nice, light dressing a very light and tasty meal. The rock star of the show is the homemade biscuit. I was craving a sandwich and Chef's Corner satisfied this craving. I had the Chicken Chipotle Club Sandwich (Chipotle marinated grilled chicken, Virginia ham, Monterey Jack cheese and chipotle mayo on sourdough toast) with a side of fries. The sandwich was awesome. It was spicy but not mouth-numbing. The ham was a nice addition. The fries were crunchy and the seasoning was outstanding. I wish it had a slightly lower price point. It wasn't a sub or a hero...$12 for just regular square bread is a bit high. My server was very friendly. read more

I went here for lunch one day and even though it was packed, my waiter was quick to provide me with water and suggestions. The atmosphere is casual with a lot of nearby workers from the hospital. The food came out great and didn't take too long. Overall a great spot for lunch with a decent amount of options. read more
Good service, decent eggs Benedict, fair prices, and absolutely delicious cookies. I had brunch here a couple of times and the food and service were both good. The food was fresh and flavorful. Given the location, near LIRR station and a hospital, I was expecting more of an average diner-like space but chef's corner is really surpasses expectations. Chefs Corner-- literally on the corner. No parking so just settle for a ticket. Shrugs! Super cute cafe continently down the street from me and open at 10am when I'm trying to avoid a diner. (Spoiled. Yelp made me this way!) Cappuccino is deliciously strong. The foam is thicker than usual and I added one Raw sugar (I'm sorry coffee gods!) because it packed a punch! I drooled over the breakfast menu for a moment before deciding lunch was going to be the way to go today. My friend ordered the scrambled eggs with flank steak with sweet potato chips on the side-- that was pretty much a nachos set up. You have to dip those chips! Ooooo so good and I only had two servings! Going to have to get it for myself next time. (Steak always scares me away.) I had the Grilled Chicken Chipotle Club sandwich with that sweet potato mountain of chips. (As seen in photos.) A sandwich cut four ways-- perfect they knew I wasn't going to manage. I had two sides and a handful of chips dipped in the heavenly quac that's actually very similar to salsa verde (I wish it was spicy. Going to have to ask for hot sauce.) Over all the service was fantastic! They cleaned our plates, served water that didn't taste funny (they must clean that ice machine) and boxed my left overs for me! I had a turkey club sandwich here when I came to have brunch with friends. My friends had the eggs Benedict and steak quesadilla. All of the food we had were great and the drinks as well. Absolutely amazing experience for a VERY last minute choice. Trying to find a lunch spot at 10AM was oddly difficult for us on the day we went here. We were driving around Yelping places and finally settled on Chef's Corner and it was a great decision!! (Limited parking, I got a ticket, that kinda sucks) Walking inside was a funny experience because the wait staff was also enjoying some lunch but the second we walked in they were very attentive and sat us immediately, gave us menus and took our drink order. The waitress was nothing but wonderful throughout the experience and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. We ordered cappuccinos which were absolutely delightful, nice and creamy and definitely had a kick to wake you up not to mention it was a beautiful presentation. The menu is VAST with all sorts of breakfast and lunch choices and it was very hard to make any type of decision. I eventually settled on the shredded flank steak with eggs, cheese, onions peppers etc. while my friend got the grilled chicken chipotle sandwich. My meal was incredible, while I admit it wasn't the most attractive dish at first, the meal spoke for itself. Served with crispy sweet potato fries (I've never had them before, and It was a pleasant surprise), super creamy guacamole that was absolutely refreshing on the chips or the omelette, and the omelette itself was a nacho setup waiting to happen. On their own all the food was great but put some steak egg and cheese on a sweet potato chip with their guacamole and you have made yourself a nacho fit for a king! My friends sandwich I ended up eating later that day and even as a leftover I was completely satisfied. The chicken, tomato, cheese, lettuce and bread all tasted fresh and paired with the amazing guacamole (which probably makes literally anything more delicious) perfectly. All in all I will absolutely be recommending friends to this place, and for the low price of about $10 a person for a filling breakfast or lunch I will be returning on a regular basis. This was a nice find for brunch. Right near the Mineola LIRR station. When we got there there were 4 busy tables and I can see a constant traffic from people who work at the hospital. We ordered the egg Benedict with smoke salmon and the chef burger. Both very good and the atmosphere was nice and layback. Definitely will come back. 1 star breakfast 4 stars Lunch Yummy food, great location and even better service. Chefs Corner is located across from the hospital and the Long Island train station. I've been to this restaurant more than a dozen times. Here's a tip- check out their specials menu. The items on the menu changes daily but some you will see on the specials menu almost daily. I absolutely LOVE their jumbo lump crab cake sandwich. It is served on a broche bun with lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo. You have a choice of getting the crab cake sandwich with French fries, sweet potato chips, soup or salad all for $10. The crab cake sandwich is on the specials menu almost always on a Thursday and Friday. Aside from my favorite dish, I've also tried plenty of other things. Funny, I've probably tried everything on the specials menu lol (aside from any red meat). My other favorites are the grilled salmon sandwich topped with their guacamole and the grilled salmon Greek salad. I need to be sure to tell them to cook the salmon medium well or else it'll be too undercooked for my taste. Other than that it is all good and delicious. I can go on and on about them because they are that good! My job also caters many events with them and they do a fabulous job with a decent price. Highly recommended. They also serve breakfast. To be honest I stay far away from their breakfast. Only because I had a really bad experience when I ordered their shrimp omelet. Instant G.I issue! (TMI?) Also, senior leadership ordered breakfast for the office one day and everyone was unhappy with it. Bland, luke warm etc. Shocking because we are really big fans of their lunch. With that said, I really want to give them a 4 star but no can do. read more
So this is a cute little corner place. Was good and not disappointed in service and the way everything came out. Taste could have been a little better for me. I had the egg Benedict. Everything was pretty good. But let me get to it. Canadian bacon well cooked they put everything over a citrus biscuit, not traditional English muffin. The egg was over cooked not running enough and the hollandaise sauce was a little citrusy. Another thing was the salad they gave me. A lot more then two handfuls. The home fries that was very good. The taste was just perfect. Would I come here again yes I would. Maybe next time around they will blow me out of the water with the other selection. I love the Chef's Corner. I've only been in twice, and I really don't know why I haven't come by more. The food is fresh, delicious, reasonably priced, and located right next to Winthrop Hospital. There is literally no reason not to grab a meal here. I've gone for their specials on both occasions. I've had one of the lunch specials, a chicken and broccoli rabe panini served with a side salad. The dressing on the salad was a little too tart for my taste, but there was a ton of it to go along with the sandwich. The sandwich itself was garlicky and cheesy and huge. I've also had a brunch special, flank(?) steak mixed with scrambled eggs and queso fresco on fried tortillas with a side of potatoes, peppers, and onions. It's not my usual go-to for a brunch, but it was really excellent. The eggs-steak-cheese was so mixed together that there wasn't a bite that was missing any of them. It was served with a side of toast and jam and the jam was out of this world. My dining companions have tried the burger and the awesome chicken sandwich and they have both been the bomb. They each came with an amazing pile of fries, which are crispy and soft in all the right ways. I've also shared a cookies and cream mikshake, which was a tad thinner than I would have liked, but it went down nice. read more

Not kid friendly. Kind of disappointed. I called ahead of time to see if they had a kids menu. The person on the phone said they did and gave grilled cheese and chicken tenders as examples of what was on it. When we sat we asked for the kids menu and we're told there was no kids menu but we could order things in smaller portions... then our waiter came and when I asked for a kids portion of pancakes and he told me they only had one size. Now I'm annoyed and I tell him so and he says ok he will ask... they did end up making a smaller stack so I do appreciate that. Then we got our silverware.. all of the napkins and silverware were dirty. They quickly replaced them, no big deal. Ok, the food. The pancakes were very good, we all tried a bite and agreed they were awesome! My other son had a cheese quesadilla, which was good, he enjoyed it. My husband had the angus burger which he said was average but it was HUGE, it came with fries and we all enjoyed the fries. Generous portions and they were above average as far as taste goes. I had the Oaxacan chicken sandwich. A few critiques here. The sandwich was so big that my jaw kind of hurt tying to eat it. I ended up taking a large piece of chicken off and it was more manageable. The garlic mayo was so minimal that i couldn't taste it at all. I would have asked for more but I didn't see our waiter. My son however didn't use his guacamole so I snagged it. It saved the sandwich. If I were the chef I'd cut the chicken down by 1/3 and use more garlic mayo and serve if with a side of guac! Anyway, from a family stand point I give this place a 3. I didn't feel it was particularly kid friendly, which is fine but I wish they'd just say that, saying no kids menu would have been sufficient. I think if we had gone alone it would have been less frustrating. read more
This place is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. It's a little gem on the corner of Mineola Blvd and 2nd. What I like about this place: -good food (especially lunch items) -fast service -very reasonable prices for what you're getting -10% off and free drinks for Winthrop employees! We had brunch with about 15 friends and they were very accommodating and brought out complimentary slices of muffins without us even ordering it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the breakfast items so I'll stick with their burgers and salads. read more
Back several years ago, I remember when this location was a coffee shop. And then suddenly it wasn't, and it became the green-colored breakfast corner it is today. Traveling to and fro from Mineola Train Station, I had noticed this little nook many times, but it wasn't until yesterday's late morning that I finally ventured here with my gal for a little brunch. The Chef's Corner has a nice, open feel to it, with lovely wooden tables running through the restaurant. We were able to grab any table we liked (just beat the bustling Winthrop lunch crowd), and then tried to decide between breakfast and lunch (the brunch dilemma). I went breakfast with a spicy Italian sausage frittata accompanied with home fried potatoes, and she went lunch with the Oaxacan chicken sandwich and a side salad. We then met halfway sharing a side order of sweet potato chips and guacamole. I tried a bite of my girlfriend's sandwich and was delighted by the marinated chicken breast and taste of the Oaxacan cheese. The salad was a mostly forgettable as were my fried potatoes. The frittata had a nice balance of egg, sausage, cheese, potato, and scallion. It became a tad rich towards the end and needed the accompaniment of the almighty condiment of ketchup. As for the sweet potato chips, they were the highlight of the meal with their crunchy texture and nice tag team with the cilantro-laden guac. Overall, there were a few small hiccups via flavor at The Chef's Corner, but there was enough to write home about that a return trip should occur, maybe for one straight meal (or just for those sweet potato chips). read more
