Always a fun time at this place! We originally started coming here for the karaoke, which is an absolute blast--especially with our KJ, the Stunt Master Flex! The food is fantastic. My favorites are the Guinness sliders and the cauliflower crust pizza--always on point. We recently decided to check out Sunday bingo and, once again, zero disappointment. So much fun! The owners are always present, incredibly nice, and truly hospitable, which makes the experience even better. Ever have one of those days where your best laid plans absolutely go awry? That's how I ended up at the Recovery Room, which is an aptly named bar situated next to the Mineola train station. I was supposed to transfer at Jamaica but didn't realize until it was too late. Mineola was the next stop, so I got off and waited for my ride to accommodate me. It was hot as balls out and I was thirsty, and the thought of a cold beer while waiting the extra 20 minutes for my ride to get here sounded lovely, honestly. I was a little unsure about sitting at the bar alone at a spot I'd never been to before, but saw there was an outdoor table in the semi shade that I could grab (as long as I was fine with sipping beer out of a plastic glass). In retrospect I should've asked about specials, but I just went with my go-to Heineken which set me back $7. I wasn't mad about it. The bartender was friendly, though I did feel like I kind of interrupted a personal conversation she was having with a man at the bar who seemed to be a local. Can't speak to the food but their menu did look good. Not a bad stop, overall. I feel very recovered. read more

This is definitely a bar worth stepping into, great cocktails, drinks, and beers... also serving one amazing burger called the Guinness Burger as well as delicious food as well. I would call it a great Dive bar but after looking up dive bar they say one that doesn't serve food. So how about calling this a Great local bar with TV Screens to watch the games and every Friday night at 6pm is EJ the DJ playing your favorites. This bar is truly a hidden gem. We stopped in by chance after shopping, tired, and just wanted to relax. The menu is very simple, mostly burgers and chicken wings. The chef prepared and served everything himself--there are no waiters at the bar, so everything was delicious--it felt like home-cooked food. The tables are cozy with soft benches, and there are even pillows for complete relaxation. I especially loved the music selection. I work late in the area weekday nights, so missing the train is kind of an inconvenience. That being said, with the LIRR waiting room locked and all other businesses closed, the Recovery Room certainly allowed me to "recover" from the cold. The atmosphere was casual, the music/vibes were great, and the people (service and patrons) were warm. In fact, the only thing colder than the NY winter breeze was the beer on draft! There was even a screen showing a live count down of the LIRR (on top of the bartender asking when my train time was) to make sure i made it to my destination! The best part was that there was absolutely no need to rush or force myself to chug/rapidly consume my beverage! The establishment is incredibly accommodating and I only wish most establishments of this nature accommodate the needs of their patrons like the Recover Room. read more

Karoke on Thursdays, the sweetest local crowd, a bit older, so chill with possible shenanigans. Its near the train so the crowd is diverse , most people pop in post whatever city activities. Ill def be there soon during the summer. The bartender is freaking hilarious and reminded me and my friend of some of our colleagues. We didnt get to try the food but this location is pretty chill id say post work or late night . Its small and very loud. The DJ was great . After finishing a long shift as a bartender myself, I came here with my partner to relax. Instead of being welcomed, we were met with rudeness from the bartender, Atlantis. A simple "How are you?" was brushed off with "How can I help you?" -- no courtesy, no effort to make guests feel comfortable. When I asked again, her response was, "I don't have an attitude, but it sounds like you do." That kind of remark is unprofessional and unnecessary. I'm not expecting a bartender to share their life story, but I do expect the same basic respect I give my own customers every day. Hospitality is about making people feel at ease, and that standard was completely missing here. This left such a bad impression that I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to others. read more

Last night we celebrated my 50th birthday at the Recovery Room. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. The owners are amazing and they made sure the party ran perfectly. They decorated for me, provided all the food and snacks, and the DJ was amazing. The manager, Andrea, was so sweet and helped me plan everything in advance. Andrea and Freddy, the bartenders, made sure everyone was enjoying the open bar. The DJ was great and let me choose the type of music that makes me happy. My friends all loved him. Every staff member was attentive and made sure my guests and I were having a great time. They provided a 3 hour private party for me. The food was also delicious. One cold windy and rainy night my severly delayed flight landed at JFK. I travel back home often to spend time with family. This was a surprise trip as my son had a newborn baby. I didn't want to disturb anyone late at night so I took the Airtrain from JFK to Mineola. The weather was one of the most powerful NorEasters on record. Ubers were historically delayed. Everything was closed. The only light on near the Mineola LIRR Station was at Recovery Room. I opened the door but they were closing up. The Bartender clearly saw something in my face. Might have been the desperation of a middle aged man with all of his energy drained from the flight and weather. Also, probably the fact I was a newly minted Grandfather and for the first time in life Reality was smacking me in the face. "What do you need to drink, Sir?" She asked. As I felt my Miami tan fading from my frozen, damp face I uttered, "A Lite Beer and Don Julio 1942 on the rocks!" She served my drinks as I told her about my delayed flight, trip and waiting on the Uber. She told me she would stay open and keep me company until my Uber arrived (then she locked the front door like Sonny in The Bronx Tale). I may have forgotten the crisp taste of the beer or the bite of the Mexican Tequila that night, but I will never, ever forget the warmth of joy I felt walking through the red door at the Recovery Room. If you visit, tell them you are a friend of a Ronnie G -- the bartender will pour you a Cold Beer and Tequila on the Rocks. Chug the Beer and sip the Tequila. Tip the bartender and be assured, somewhere Ronnie G's grandson is keeping him busy. read more

I dropped by Recovery Room on Saturday night on the way home from an event, what a find! a great neighborhood bar with really good music and a very chill atmosphere which is a change from the pretentious bars on LI. Freddy at the bar was on top of it all, I never had to ask for drink as Freddy ensured that everyone was taken care of, the food is high end bar fare which was exactly what I was looking for, delicious. This is a great place to recover after visiting Long Island. Our girl Tina who is an excellent bartender made my friend and I strong drinks and food was very good. I ordered the chicken teriyaki dumplings and snack attack. Snack attack is a lot of food but it's perfect for two people. This place has all the elements of a great Irish pub - large selection of beers on tap, good food, great service. Generally I stop here while I wait for a train to go to the Knick game. I usually arrive with just enough time to have 2 pints (and with a nice tip it's still less than 1 beer at MSG! lol) and sometimes a bite to eat. My usual bartender is Marie and she is awesome and efficient - always on point. When I finally relax and start feeling good after a long work day it's time to catch the train, but sometime I wonder why I would want to leave such a top notch pub... I'd not take issue if anyone calls me out on this bar and beer review as much of what Recovery had too offer went mainly undone. Having already 'tied one on' (check your southern dictionary) we thought it well to daycap another round for the train, fortunately -- I wasn't the engineer. The lovely and lively Miss Jordan (a week removed & I can't remove the southerner in me) looked at our crew with humorous bewilderment and kept the suds flowing and the fast one liners zinging. After dropping a Grant on those funny animated balls that launch high and ARE SUPPOSED to land on where I marked my sheet, all but one did. Fairly priced beers, laughs in abundance -- ohh yea, we're stopping in again very soon for sure. read more
