After reading and contemplating the response I received from the owner, Robert F., following my experience at The Catch, I wanted to provide a more accurate comparison. The owner graciously compared the prices and portions of The Catch's fish entree to Caines' chicken tender basket. So fellow Yelpers, I present what I believe is a more "apples to apples" review. Just to spice things up - let's play a game of "Go Fish!" The Catch will be abbreviated "TC" and a locally owned and operated restaurant, "The Red Zone," will be abbreviated "RZ." Do you have friendly staff? RZ - Yes, in fact 3 different wait staff consistently checked on my table, told me they appreciated my coming in, and wished a good evening a total of 10 separate occasions during my meal TC- No, the only interaction beyond taking my order was "can I have your number". GO FISH! Was the order accurate? RZ - Yes, my order and my husband's order arrived at the same time and was 100% complete including salad dressing and crackers for the side salads TC - No, According the owner's response, I was charged for a Large combo (2 filets, 4 shrimp) and received an INCOMPLETE (1 filet 2 shrimp) smaller combo that was suppose to consist of 1 filet 3 shrimp. GO FISH! Did your order arrive in a timely fashion? RZ - Yes, I received my full order in 13 minutes and 8 seconds after placing my order TC - No, It took 45 minutes for my husband to receive his order, and 52 minutes (that's almost a hour peeps) to receive my incomplete order. GO FISH! Was the meal worth the price? RZ - Absolutely, I received 3 large filets, 2 sides(of my choice without an up charge), and a large side salad for $8.29 TC - No, not only was the order inaccurate, it cost $13.99 for again, 1 filet, 2 shrimp and hush puppies (FYI- if I wanted fried okra there is an up charge- whereas RZ would have given me fried okra without an additional charge) GO FISH! Do you openly support local schools and promote the community? RZ - Definitely, there is not a single wall in the restaurant that doesn't showcase local high school posters and Texas Tech! TC - No, not a single poster or picture. GO FISH! Did you witness any other problems during your visit? RZ - No, I purposefully listened for anyone to complain about prolonged wait times and orders that were wrong. Families were smiling, wait staff was friendly, attentive, and 2 customers were greeted personally by their names upon sitting in the section next to my table TC- Yes, several orders were wrong, the customer next to my table had to ask for his tarter sauce, and the excuse for the delayed service and incomplete orders was "we recently changed to a new ordering system after the new management - a corporation out of Oklahoma- took over. We are trying to fix the problems." So, if I understood the cashier and the wait staff correctly, The Catch is no longer locally managed?!?! GO FISH! Both restaurants have a drive thru window for convenience. I made sure to visit both restaurants around 6:30-6:45p so extra wait time was not to blamed on peak versus off-peak dining. The Red Zone has more tables and more menu items including breakfast all day. Consequently, I would expect a longer wait time for a larger customer base with a wider menu selection. Obviously my hypothesis was inaccurate! I have provided pics of both my meals. To summarize, The Catch lost the comparison game. Hope this review gives my fellow Yelpers some food for thought because after further review, I know where to get more bang for my buck! Response: I am not fighting but I did not appreciate you throwing another business "under the bus" when you initially posted a price comparison with Canes. I also read the previous reviews and I am not the first customer to post a comment about "pricey" food. I work in an industry with intermittent rapid turnaround including updates in documentation technology; however, I can't afford to allow my clients to be effected, and if I did I guarantee I would be held accountable. Someone once told me if you want to know the real reason behind a situation ask the question "Why" 3 times. I have asked "Why" twice now and have been given 2 different answers for what went wrong. If staff turnover is so dramatic, makes me wonder "why" because the recent staffing challenges are obviously altering customer satisfaction and potential for future dining. Terrible first impression, we are from out of town visiting and are restaurant owners also. Me and my wife walk in and up to the counter and the young black girl never greets us, looks at us or acknowledges us even when I say hello. We walk out immediately. Took my elderly parents to eat there. My mom ordered the shrimp and she liked it. My dad ordered the oysters and they were way over cooked. I had the shrimp tacos and couldn't even pick up the tortilla it was so soggy so I just ate the shrimp off the top. As for cleanliness--- very bad. I went in the restroom and it was disgusting. So, tried this place out on a Sunday evening. The staff was friendly. My wife and I order our meals and an appetizer. They bring my wife's food out first, then the appetizer about 5 min later. My wife finished her meal and my food still hadn't arrived. We ordered in the same check at the same time. How do you manage to lose half an order??? Was told prices were high. Looking at the Menu I didn't think so. Food arrived at different times to the four of us. Once food arrived I realized price is high for food amount. A regular size fried fish was $8.99. Thought ok, not bad. Out came a sorry excuse of one piece of fish, two burnt hush puppies and a few French fries. For two dollars more I could get another piece of fish. Doubt I will be going back. Red Zone gives 3-4 halfs of fish, side salad, nicely cooked hush puppies and good portion of a side for same price. Worst crawfish ever! Fishy and not fresh. The manager said is they are fresh, started arguing with us (even though we just said they were awful) but believe me they are not! Fishy and gross. The crawfish are either over cooked by WAY too much or frozen. They charge 13.99 a pound!! Insane when you can get great crawfish in DFW area right now for 7.99. Went here about 4 or 5 days ago and I was very very disappointed. The food tasted old and reheated. The service was very helpful and it was the only thing I enjoyed here. The lack of Covid precautions was very slim and very few staff were wearing masks. I would recommend only going around opening so the food is fresh. read more

We ordered dinner online and my husband went to pick up the order. Thinking he would be able to use their drive-thru for a contact-less interaction he left the house in his socks. Turns out they will not allow you to use the drive thru to pick up food, even under these circumstances and after my husband had been in the drive thru line for 20 minutes. So he came home and got his shoes to go back up there. I tried calling the restaurant to make sure we would have fresh food seeing as we were there to pick up our fresh food, the management just wouldn't extend a small amount of courtesy, but no one would answer the phone. This was my first visit. I ordered the fish filet basket. The fish tasted good but wasn't very hot. The fries were okay but the hush puppies were hard--not just crunchy but hard! I could tell they would have had a good taste but I'm guessing they were warmed over and left too long in the warmer. I had a floor manager take my order, I had not been in the place for a year,. he knew almost zero about the menu or its contents,.. when I did finally get my order it was shall we say unremarkable at best,.. food quality was just ok and preparation was almost ok,.. when the average per person check average is close to 20 bucks,.
