I didn't want to go to two stars, which portion size, it should have been. I don't know how all these people are on here raving about good size portions, when I just spent close to $35, basically for a couple appetizer size dishes. I ordered fried alligator, which I not only eat, but I also make at home. I'm pretty sure they're using strictly tenderloin, because when you get into the tail part of the alligator, depending on the thickness of the tail and the cut by the butcher, some pieces could be tougher than others, and tender as well. But all these nuggets were really tender. Flavor was okay, but I can't be a prude comparing them to what I make at home. I had the shrimp etouffee. The flavor was absolutely on point. But I got maybe a pint and a half? Again, the portion size everybody raves about, isn't there, unless they are from the deep jungles of Somalia with famine issues. I'll probably never stop here again, just because I never come to lubbock, but if I do, I might order another plate, or I might remember what I just paid almost $40 for. I took pictures of both entrees that I ate, and put a quarter next to them so you can reference the size for yourself. To call that a "good portion size" is quite the overstatement. I still miss the old Taco Bell that this used to be, but The Catch is pretty good. I had the spicy shrimp pasta. It also came with grilled sausage. Came in around 11 on a weekday. I can't remember the names of what we ordered but we tasted the following: red beans and rice, white fish, shrimp, hush puppies, boudin balls, fried oysters, and coleslaw. We loved the red beans and rice. It was delicious. Fried fish and shrimp were good and the hush puppies were very good. I did not care for the boudin balls, the coleslaw was too dry and didn't taste fresh to me, and the oysters were ok. I will note the fried items did not taste like they were fried in old oil and they weren't overly oily, so that was a major plus. Service was excellent! Everyone was so nice and friendly and they thanked us for our business. Overall, the food was good and we will come back. read more

This place is always great! Thee service is fast and friendly and the food is great. On this visit my boyfriend had the shrimp po boy with fries. The fries are soooo good. He said he loved the po boy and the bread looked great. I had the half and half with grilled shrimp and gumbo. It comes with rice, garlic bread, hush puppies and a side. I opted for the fried okta because theirs is the best in town. The gumbo is delicious with the eight amount of spice and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. And their cocktail sauce is awesome. Seems like the quality of the food is diminishing from when they first opened. This past Wednesday was our 6th time to eat here and every time since our 3rd visit the food has not been as good as the first 2 times and they continue to get the order wrong or only bring out 1 plate and then the 2nd plate 10 minutes later only after I asked about it. I don't care about masks because I'm NOT a sheep but I do not trust tarter sauce that is not refrigerated. In March I would have given 5 stars. As far as Lubbock seafood goes, this place is the best. I lived in Houston for 7 years and this type of seafood restaurant (ie Cajun / Gulf Coast seafood) is everywhere and for Lubbock to finally have a taste of that type of TX-LA seafood is a much welcome treasure. My wife sat in the drive thru line for about an hour on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a variety of food. We got the boiled crab and shrimp with corn and potatoes. The fried platter with Catch Fish, Shrimp, Crawfish tails, and hush puppies. Plus some gumbo to round out our sampling. Everything was spot on. The boiled crab leg may have been my favorite. There was plenty of meat even thought it was not easy to eat huge crab legs when your at home and don't have the right tools but I managed. The crab, shrimp, corn, and potatoes were all cooked perfectly and had the right amount of Cajun spices and butter. The fired platter was great and the crawfish tails were my personal favorite. Lastly when only had a free sample of the gumbo but it was also good. It was a free sample so it didn't have much rice but I imagine and whole bowl of it would be a huge meal because of all the shrimp, crawfish tails, fish and sausage that came with it. The cocktail sauce is tangy with just the right spice. The tartar and ranch sauces are unique and go well with any line up of food. The Catch serves up great seafood and I hope the quality remains consistently good and thrives in West Texas for years to come. read more
