Lunch in the Cascade Room on a gloriously beautiful day - the view is 5 star, and our server was definitely 5 star. But the food was quite below even a 3 star. Seafood salad with a larger piece of crab shell than crab, two dry prawns and a small serving of equally dry salmon. My husband's pork quesadilla was visually unappealing, and 'where's the pork'??? Others in our party ordered fish and chips - although not much of a fish serving, the cole slaw and fries were "delicious". Something needs to happen to revive the quality of fare at Skamania. I love Skamania Lodge and the service and food in the Cascade are great. This would be a 5 star review except.....many groups of people here think the mask mandate does not apply to them. It should not be up to staff to enforce the wearing of masks, but management needs to do something. Maybe hire a bouncer whose sole job is to see that the idiots either mask up or get out. For example, It was "Story night" in the great room with an Elf reading a story. It was packed. I was hard pressed to see anyone (except staff) wearing masks. Clearly, many of the people in the room were younger than 5, and so, ineligible at this time for vaccination. And the "grown ups" in the room were unmasked as well. I'm giving Skamania lodge a 4. And my fellow visitors a big, fat 0. So, a final grade of 3 because I rounded up. To think that Story Night at Skamania Lodge could be super spreader event is horribly, and predictably, depressing. read more

Restaurant with a view at the Skamania Lodge. The food was excellent though a bit pricey. Definitely a place for special occasions cause I can't see eating there for consecutive days. Skamania Lodge you broke my heart today... I've always counted on you for the most luscious brunch around. But today you disappoint. Is it because it's just after New Year and I overheard an employee say it's the slowest time of year. Is it because the weather report in the Gorge was bad and you didn't put your best foot forward? All I know is that you raised your prices again but cut back on some of our favorite items -Where was all the wonderful smoked fish, the vast cheese plate varieties, the selection of special breakfast pastry, and the chocolate deserts for heavens sake? Sure- you added a Bloody Mary Bar but the bartender looked pretty lonely over there with no one partaking. Yes, you are just as beautiful as always- but has it gone to your head or was it just an off day? This was the first time we asked ourselves if it was really worth the cost.... sigh. read more

Five of us had brunch here last Sunday; the weather was perfect, which always makes the day better. It also helps a meal. We were there for Sunday brunch. They always have lots of choices. This time was no different. I think my impression of this place is colored by my choice to try to eat healthier. There was fruit and it was what you would expect from a place this large. My wife tells me there was one green salad, although I missed it. I did see one dish labelled as steamed vegetables. Thus, if you were vegetarian, this was not the place to go. It also reflects on our preference for meat and bread, even through there were fewer bread/sweet roll choices. There had fresh crab, that we good. The roast beef was excellent, as was the ham. They had an omelet bar, that looked good. I did not try it because omelets are never my favorite. They had good waffles, but no pancakes. The french toast looked like it came out of a package; i skipped it. The clam chowder was very good and the seafood Newberg was also good. In short, if your preference was for meat or eggs, they did a good job. Some was excellent. Of course, they had a dessert bar. It was OK; I would describe it as ordinary. Canned peaches in a peach cobbler are still canned peaches. They serve sparkling wine and mimosa to your heart content. Better yet was the Bloody Mary bar. You can have it with or without salt. You can choose a spicy or non-spicy vodka. I chose spicy. You then get to choose whatever you want to garnish it. The choices include the ordinary, asparagus and celery, or the faddish, bacon and blue cheese. There are lots of choices. For a brunch, this is OK and I am sure we will be back. I think it is an improvement over the last couple of times we were there. It will never be a substitute for Rebecca's cooking, even when it is just pancakes, a fried egg and bacon on a lazy Sunday morning. read more

Reviewing for the Friday evening Harvest Buffet and also the Christmas Day Buffet. Both were well run, not over-crowded, and plenty of fresh and re-freshed foods. Favorite dishes included a seafood ravioli, roasted sweet potatoes, and of course the crab. Service was excellent both trips. The only thing I would fault is the dessert bar, but really there's so much good food to fill up on you can skip it and be just fine. read more

Skamania Lodge is one of our favorite stops between The Dalles & Portland. The Cascade Room is a great option for brunch. Make sure you have a reservation on the weekend or holidays because it can get crowded. My boyfriend's stepdad goes for the All-He-Can-Eat seafood. He made such an impression that a waitress spotted him, said, "I remember you" then warned him that they were out of oysters. The dessert station is tasty, too! read more

Breakfast: Pancakes were fluffy and warm. Breakfast potatoes were fair. Veggie Omelette was chalked full of yummy asparagus, spinach and avocado. Coffee was great! Dinner: Butternut squash ravioli was a disappointment. Only 3 raviolis for $12?!? Even for a pricey resort, that was ridiculous. Flavor was delicious, just not enough. While I liked the concept of choosing a grilled meat, sauce, and 2 sides (really it was a great deal), my rib eye had too much balsamic and blue cheese. And I love blue cheese. Just overwhelmed the meat. Bacon and brussel sprout side was cooked perfectly. Duck and bacon risotto was decent. Dessert: Pumpkin creme brulee was amazing!! Tons of pumpkin flavor. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. Chocolate Indulgence cake was good, if not too much after an insane amount of food for dinner! read more

We ordered a martini, dirty... came back 2 times with 1 cran vodka, one EXTRA dirty overkill... the scallops were good but you'd think for $20 you'd get more than 2... I ordered the beef short rib and the beef was good but undercooked noodles and a huge scoop of cream on top just so you knew what you were eating. Husband had polenta, it was a super deep fried polenta cake slice with chopped vegetables. No way worth $175. Go to the bar next door, chicken tacos are great! read more

What a turn around. Last weekend we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the Cascade Room at the Skamania Lodge. Our prior visit to the dinning room here was disappointing, but this one was outstanding. Service was as good as possible. Both our meals were delicious and creative. I loved my sword fish with mushroom/apple bread pudding. One has a choice of sauces to order with your entree, the mushroom sauce I had was sublime. This has to be the finest place in the area to enjoy a fine meal. read more

We dined at the Cascade Room after 2 of our party enjoyed Skamania Lodge's new zipline--an amazing and fun experience. While they were on the zipline, we enjoyed the lovely view from the resort's huge lobby wndows and had coffee and tea, which is available and serviced by an alert staff member. Five of us dined in the Cascade Room, and had mixed opinions about the food. The salads (3 different ones ordered) were all very good. Two of us had gnocchi, which was very disappointing. It was leaden, not light and pillowy as properly made gnocchi should be. The mushroom turnover was good, but smaller than expected. The staff knew it was our grandson's birthday and brought him a sundae atop a cookie, with a candle in it, and he also ordered a very good berry creme brulee. The view of the Columbia River Gorge is beautiful, which was worth "the price of admission". So, mixed reviews. Service was very good, but that gnocchi dropped one star from my review. read more

Enjoyed a lovely stay at Skamania Lodge but Cascade Dining room was a disappointment. We had dinner Friday night and breakfast on Saturday. On both occasions the food took forever to arrive and in both cases the food arrived Luke warm to cold. The wait staff were great and reheated or remade our dinners promptly and picked up the cost of the cold meals. But it makes no sense since the restaurant was not busy and there was plenty of staff. We have reservations for brunch on Sunday. Hoping they can do a better buffet. Stay tuned for my review. Sunday morning brunch was very good. Omelet station, carving station and seafood bar were all good. Staff was excellent. Come for the brunch, just be warned about dinner. read more

We didn't get either until our dinner was in front of us and we had to ask about them. We were over halfway through our dinner when our server finally made an appearance and asked how our meal was and if she could bring us anything. Since one of us was out of a beverage by this time - yeah - we needed service. The food itself was okay. I had the pork chop (which, frankly, was a little dry) and my husband had the prime rib special (which he said was good). We also added a lobster tail onto one of our meals and split it. This is our 2nd time coming to Skamania lodge and eating in the Cascade room. Last time we had an appetizer called a mushroom strudel that honestly was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. We came back dreaming of this but found out it was no longer on the menu. But the hotel worker Art arranged for them to make it for us and had it ready for us as soon as we checked in with our reservations. The rest of the food was just as delicious as before. read more

We had an unexpectedly wonderful meal at The Cascade Room. We don't generally expect much from a resort restaurant , but each dish we tried was excellent. The short rib stroganoff with wild mushrooms was divine and my husband insisted that the brined pork chop was one of the best he'd ever had. The waitress Jolene was very attentive and sweet. We always order burgers to go because they are so tasty.. We live across the bridge of gods and we still will pay the toll back and forth to get ourselves a good burger and French fries!! Helpings are above average and prices are not bad either!! You could also enjoy your self a drink in the bar on the other side (if your staying staying close by, of coarse!) As hotel guest , there's only a few food options. Hostess wasn't too friendly or helpful which should've been an indication of the service in the restaurant. Our server came to the table and didn't greet us, instead she asked if we "knew what we wanted". I asked about any specials and her response was short, "no we're out" and she walked away briskly as if she was too busy for anymore questions. My husband and I were surprised by her lack of customer service. She returned with waters and we asked her directly if she was rushing us and pointed out how she treated us. She was apologetic yet defensive and made excuses. By this point I was starving and just wanted place our order, eat and get back to our room. The menu selection is limited . The food was mediocre, but being in Stevenson your selection of restaurants are very slim. As a hotel guest of the Skamania Lodge, which we liked and enjoyed our stay we would consider trying here again to give it another shot and hopefully have better service and food quality. read more

Took my wife to Skamania Lodge for a weekend away from the kids. The views from the dining room are fantastic - we watched the sunset, followed by moonrise, over the Gorge. My biggest concern was that this would be one of those places where you pay for the view and the food doesn't keep up. We started with a Crab Tower (a tasty, but very small single crab cake), along with a Caesar salad. The crab was very good, but it was more like a dollop than a tower. We split it between 4 people and it was one mouthful per person. The salad was average - fresh iceburg lettuce, crisp croutons, but no anchovies and the dressing was not scratch-made (I don't normally care about salad dressing, but at this price point I expect something special.) We both had the Trout with butternut squash risotto for dinner. The portion sizes were decent, and the Trout was fresh though slightly overcooked. The risotto had an excellent flavor, but had a heavy, gluey consistency - like overcooked Mac and cheese or grits. The wine and beer selection was good, and our server was very friendly and seemed to genuinely want us to love our meal. In summary, this place is more about the views than the food. While the quality of the food was generally good, the prices seemed a bit on the high side. read more

The atmosphere cannot be bested. The meal we were served certainly could. Service was courteous and personable. The steelhead was served on a very wet bed of corona beans. Not at all appetizing. My husband moved the fish to his bread plate to get it away from the sog. My vegetarian dish, the polenta, was a mixed bag. The polenta with the mustard sauce was tasty but the roasted vegetables were tough, the heirloom carrots uneatable. It was disappointing and very pricey. For an anniversary celebration, we mostly enjoyed the view and the cherry crisp dessert. read more

This place is nice, but a little spendy if you're eating here for several days. The pool and spa were nice, and clean, and we used them multiple times during our stay. We wanted to play board games in the lobby but the few tables were occupied constantly. For the size of the resort, there should be more accommodating seating options in that space. I've eaten brunch here a couple times and it's a good place to go. First the drinks are included, I prefer the mimosas. Secondly the brunch selections are vast for example crab legs and peel and eat shrimp to an omelet station. There's also a very delicious carving station with prime rib, ham and cedar plank Salmon. They also have a dessert table with some varying desserts and some staples. I recommend the creme brûlée and some fresh fruit. read more

Beautiful lodge with gorgeous views and friendly, attentive service. Unfortunately I can not recommend the Sunday brunch. The food was really not good. The beef dishes were fatty or tough, the crab legs were over cooked and the meat required much work for disappointing results and the chowder was cold.
