We decided to try because of a recommendation from a good friend. Small place, but easy to find. I like small oysters and when I asked the server said they were medium to large, so I decided to get the crab cake. Homemade crab, very little filling, just enough spice, very good. Scallops, lightly battered, fried to perfection. Onion rings, crispy. Lightly battered medium size shrimp and flakey flounder, crispy french fries. The seafood tasted fresh. Seated very quickly, very friendly staff and servers. Attentive to our drinks, never ran dry. We will return.

We were finishing up the last leg of a 10-day vacation by spending a few days in Atlantic Beach. We'd eaten in a lot of restaurants. We'd had both good and bad food. We'd spent a lot of money. Yelp reviews led us to the Captain's Table. The servers were sweet, outgoing, and friendly. The prices were reasonable. And we were starved. My family basically ordered an assortment of fried foods. And here's the truth: you could bread and deep fry the grass in my yard, and we'd probably give it a try. Our orders included: a fried chicken sandwich, fried oysters, fried catfish, fried trout, fried flounder, fried clams, french fries, fried pickles, and fried okra. Big Daddy did branch out of the fryer and had some seared scallops on his plate. A basket of hush puppies also came with our meal. Everything came out hot and crisp. My catfish was wonderfully fishy, just as catfish should be. And Kid #1's flounder was mild, just as flounder should be. The hush puppies were yummy though not quite as delicious as the restaurant next door. The fish sandwich was enormous. Overall, the portions were large but not excessive. I would have liked a couple of more fried clams, but that's probably because I was feeling greedy. I didn't love the mashed potatoes & gravy, which was typical diner style, but I am pretty picky about my taters. Our meals included free pudding, but we ordered some specialty desserts instead. They were also very good. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Captain's Table. We even considered going back the next day, but then Yelp led us elsewhere.

Food: 5 Customer Service: 5 Ambience: 4 Location: 5 Parking: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Reservations: Not required This restaurant is situated in Morehead, NC and was a very pleasant dinner choice just a few weeks ago. It was very easy to navigate to with the use of a Google maps. This restaurant has a small private parking lot, and we decided to call in an take out order. The staff was very friendly and helpful during my ordering process. Everything we ate was served hot and was well seasoned. My spouse and I truly enjoyed everything we ordered. I probably will return for another visit and tried them again the next time I'm in town. I would highly recommend it to friends and family members as well.

Oh. My. God. What an AMAZING family meal! First of all, Selby took FANTASTIC care of us and it made the experience 10 s. Hush puppies INCLUDED with meals, and delicious. We ordered combo platters for the table. Definitely had plenty to take come. Clam chowder was authentic and delicious. Sweet tea was on point, so was the ranch. Little details make it too! We will NOT miss this restaurant ever again on visits to the area!

We went to Morehead City for the first time so we could check it out a little. As we were exploring the city, we got hungry, so we looked for a place to eat. Since it was only about 3pm, we noticed that a lot of the restaurants didn't open until 4 or 5 pm. Fortunately, The Captain's Table was open , so we stopped in for dinner. It's a small and cozy restaurant and the staff were friendly and helpful. So, after getting the free hush puppies, my wife Kathey chose the seafood combo of crab cakes and fried shrimp with a baked potato and some fried okra. My pick was the seafood combo of fried shrimp and scallops with mac & cheese along with some green beans. The food was great! It came out hot and was very flavorful. The servings were quite plentiful too. So glad we stopped in to try it out.

Blackened Mahi was great and juicy.

Best dining so far on our OBX/South East tour. Probably beause it's away from the tousist areas. Super awesome and engaging staff. All locals eating there. Must try. Menu has much more that seafood and breakfast 24hrs.

Small local spot that's very relaxed but delicious at the same time. All the food tastes very fresh and works well together. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

    Excellent banana pudding today!!

This place does not disappoint. I love every thing about it. Today I had blackened mahi, sautéed spinach, cabbage and okra. I started off with some tasty clam chowder and finished with the delicious banana pudding below.

I can see why locals eat here. Great fried seafood plates. Seafood was cooked well, fresh, filled us up and was affordable.

The bartender was busy working and singing in between taking orders as she prepared drinks for customers. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered the specials before we placed our order. We love to sample the menu when we travel and the vast menu of tapas gave us the perfect opportunity to try just about everything. They had a smaller wine selection, but there was something for just about everyone. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to try if we were torn between several menu options. The Spanish lamb meatballs, truffle honey pork belly and rosemary beef were the tapas that stood out as the most flavorful and making us each want just one more bite. The Spanish meatballs were glazed with sriracha which caused me to pause before ordering. However, I'm so happy that we gave them a try. They had a bold flavor, but the whipped feta and cilantro were enough to balance the heat. The truffle honey pork belly was sliced differently. We have only had this cut into cubes at other restaurants in the past. The way that they slice the pork belly is so much better. The pork belly was served with cheese grits. We don't even like cheese grits, but could not get enough of these smoked Gouda grits. The rosemary beef with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The beef was tender, the asparagus cooked to perfection and who doesn't love mashed potatoes. We visit the crystal coast about twice a year and always try a couple of new places. We look forward to coming back to Circa 81 each time that we visit!

That kind of kindness and customer service is hard to find. The waitresses were some of the nicest, friendliest people we've ever been served by. It is simply authentic and charming in its lack of pretentiousness; it's not a tourist trap, but a dependable staple of American food. The food came really fast after ordering, everything was accurate as ordered, and the portions were all really generous, ESPECIALLY considering how reasonable are all of the prices! For my family of five, it came to about $45 including tip. You just cannot beat that! Standard diner fare, nothing fancy, but it was all done well. The pancakes were REALLY TASTY, and I'm a bit of a pancake snob. That leads to our one complaint: the only syrup they had was Log Cabin, and the quality of the pancakes deserves a real maple syrup. My wife is from New England and now travels with emergency real maple syrup in her purse.

Unfortunately, several sanitation observations during my visit kept an otherwise excellent meal from earning a higher rating. The dining room was noticeably warm throughout the evening, making it somewhat uncomfortable during the meal. On the positive side, every member of the staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. We also had the opportunity to meet the pastry chef, who was personable and clearly passionate about his work. The meal began with the house rolls, which were outstanding. They were warm, incredibly soft, buttery, and practically melted in your mouth. The Shrimp Napoleon was an excellent appetizer and easily one of the highlights of the evening. The shrimp were well prepared, the flavors were balanced, and the dish had wonderful depth. I'd rate it an 8/10. The deviled eggs had good flavor overall, although the filling leaned heavily toward mustard. The egg whites were somewhat firm and gave the impression they had been prepared well in advance and refrigerated. While enjoyable, they weren't nearly as memorable as the other dishes. The meatloaf was exceptional--without question one of the best I've ever had. It was tender, flavorful, and complemented perfectly by a rich, savory gravy. The green beans tasted remarkably fresh and were cooked beautifully. I added a side of cheese grits, which were creamy, cheesy, and absolutely outstanding. Portion sizes throughout the meal were generous and represented excellent value. Dessert finished the evening on a high note. The Key lime pie was outstanding, with a perfectly balanced tartness, smooth filling, and excellent crust. It was one of the best restaurant desserts I've had in quite some time. Where the experience suffered was in several sanitation and food-handling observations. During service, I observed an employee visibly sweating, wiping away perspiration, and then continuing food service. A fly was also discovered in an iced tea, and from my seat I was able to observe that the tea had been poured from a communal pitcher that was being used to refill multiple guests' glasses. One observation was particularly concerning. While seated near the service area, I watched an employee package a guest's leftover meal. During the process, the container slipped, partially opened, and the food fell onto the kitchen floor. Rather than discarding it or replacing the portion, the food was simply picked up, placed back into the container, and boxed as though nothing had happened. As someone who pays close attention to restaurant operations, moments like these raise legitimate concerns about food handling standards and overall sanitation practices. Floyd's has all the ingredients of a destination restaurant. The food is genuinely excellent, the staff is welcoming, and several dishes are worth returning for. However, consistent execution extends beyond the plate. Food safety and sanitation are just as important as flavor, and the observations from this visit make it difficult to award a higher score.

The menu is creative both for food and drinks, and you're definitely going to need a reservation to get seated. While you're there expect top notch service, and food that is really good, but at least in my experience, falling a bit short of the excellence the prices are aiming for. We were all kind of hungry and thirsty when we came in, having spent the day on Shackleford island, and being shut down at every turn by the restaurant we stopped into first hoping to have some appetizers (they were out of everything we asked about). This boded well for Parrott's, we got several apps and cocktails in addition to our mains. Unfortunately, it was really those apps that I felt fell short. Our waiter talked up the lamb meatballs to the point where we were really expecting to be blown away, and ultimately, they were pretty ordinary, and just two of them, making it hard to split amongst 6 people. Same could be said for the pork belly bbq skewers, they were small and didn't thrill any of us. The main courses made up for those shortcomings, a couple of us got the grouper, there was a scallops and grits order, a delicious pesto chicken pasta, and some crab cakes that I ended up being pretty jealous of because they stole the show. These mains were a good size helping, and each robust in their own ways, showcasing creativity and excellence in the kitchen. In the end, for the amount of the bill, you expect everything to be top notch up and down, and it fell short of that to me... but not so drastically so that I wouldn't recommend the place to others, with the caveat to have appetizers somewhere else first.
