Great food and nice little spot in Beaufort. We were pleasantly surprised with all the seating that was available. The parking lot was filled but there is ample parking along the sides of the surrounding roads. The service was very friendly, almost energetic, and quick. We tried the flounder and oyster plate and it was huge--bringing home almost half the platter between two of us! We are so glad to have been told about this place--it's a gem! read more

The Spot was a local recommendation for fried shrimp. Had to try it, and loved the shrimp. I took in the platter for 12.95, which included frozen crinkle cut fries, so nothing special there, and average cole slaw. The fries and slaw didn't really matter, I came for the shrimp, and was not disappointed..light breading and very flavorful, with a good cocktail sauce. Service was fast and very friendly, place has been around since 1950, thankfully the AC in the place worked, it was a hot day! Nothing fancy here at all, but I came for the shrimp, that's all that mattered! read more

This giant is nothing to look at from the outside and it doesn't change much as you approach the counter and place your order. I write this 5-star review with some trepidation. If the Spot were any closer to major urban areas, I'd be afraid to write it because a couple of hot reviews could ruin a place like this. My friends and I had some of the best hamburgers of our lives at the Spot, referred by a slightly drunken father who was slightly embarassing his family while we all awaited tables at the Beaufort Grocery the night before. We were actually discussing places to sample shrimpburgers, and our tipsy tipster said the Spot has the best shrimpburgers on the coast--better than the Big Oak in Salter Path--and we immediately placed it on our route for the drive back to Wilson after an overnight trip to the beach. But we never had the shrimpburger, because The Spot only uses locally caught shrimp and their supplier shrimpers had none for them the day of our visit. We stayed for burgers and a chicken sandwich, though, having also been told that the burgers are hand pattied and delicious. And: Oh. My. GaGa. The flavor of the beef is outstanding. Hand pattied for sure and I'm told they only make 100 patties a day, and when they run out, they run out. Now, this could be a local urban legend but it seems to be in line with the local-shrimp-only policy. My nephew Matt, who eschews carbs for the most part, elected to have the house specialty Pinerburger, which is a cheeseburger topped with barbecue, and a double bacon cheeseburger, bunless. The lovely gal at the front, where you order, was unfazed by the oddity of bunless burgers. I elected for a simple double cheeseburger with lettcue, tomato and mayo. I couldn't quite feature barbecue on a burger just yet. These burgers, my friends, are GEMS. Juicy, beefy, flavorful. Big fluffy crinklecut fries were also on the tab today and they were delightful. The ambiance is spartan, almost deliberately featureless except for a trophy case and a rack of surfboards. Plain white walls with little on them, plain formica booths, a pretty vast acreage that could be filled with a few more booths. But a friendly staff. I'm told they grow a lot of their own product, like tomatoes. I am so so sad we did not get to try the shrimpburgers here but I am already plotting my next visit. If I have to stay a week to hit a day when they have shrimp, well, there are worse places to spend a week than the Carolina coast. read more

Certainly a popular spot with locals! I tried the double cheeseburger "all the way" with fries. It was good, but not memorable. The crinkle-cut fries were ordinary but good. Most people seemed to be ordering the fried shrimp sandwich. Cash only! Plenty of parking. Good service. read more

TOTALLY NOT THEIR FAULT but don't pay attention to the menu on here bc some random person wrote it for them. They don't have half the stuff on there and that needs to be fixed. Went to the spot today they have great hamburgers french fries and onion rings but as far as their $5 milkshakes that's what you get is milk

I ate this for the first time yesterday and it was extremely busy. I got the shrimp plate, which came with fries and Cole slaw. The food was really good and it wasn't too expensive. I'll definitely be back here in the near future to pick up some food. read more

This is a busy little place at lunch time. I had a hamburger and onion rings. It was ready in about 5 minutes. Everything was hot and good. I think i payed less than $7. I want to go back and try the hotdog as it looked very good. read more

One of the best local places around. The Piner burger is amazing, if you're not worried about calorie intake. Best place ever!!! My dad has been taking me there and getting food from there since I was a little toddler now I'm 15, and it's gotten better and better. The staff is amazing and the food is better than anything your mom can make. The shakes are smooth a creamy, and the fries and onion rings are godlike. They have a very welcoming atmosphere, and it's just a place you don't want to leave. I love it. read more

I've eaten at the spot years ago and this new spot, while still good, does not compare to what it once was. Burgers are good, but not quite as good as they once were, oh and they are a lot more expensive. Fries are the same way. They shouldn't have tinkered with the food, it was already perfect.
