I stopped in looking forward to dinner and patiently waited about five minutes for a seat at the bar. While I was waiting, I overheard the bartender say, "These people are standing here looking at me." As a customer waiting to be served, I found that comment unprofessional and unwelcoming. We went on a BOGO day. We both had the Filet Mignon which was delicious and perfectly cooked. Portions were not huge but certainly adequate. My only negative is the place has no ambiance. We returned to a great seafood spot in Atlantic Beach & it's BOGO night! Best to have a reservation & it's a fixed menu on Monday & Tuesday. We started with the hot crab dip served with pita points & it was delicious. For our entrees we ordered the shrimp & scallops over Parmesan cream linguini (scallops were small & sauce a bit bland) & the blackened Cobia, served over Gorgonzola cream sauce & bourbon bacon jam. This was the best!! Meals served quickly & We shared a homemade key lime pie w/oreo crust & raspberry drizzle which was very nice. Went here for Easter Brunch... unusual, food was buffet style yet served behind the bar. some of it was deliciou, but a lot of misses. for example the prime rib lacked seasoning and the creamy horseradish,.lacked horseradish. the deviled eggs were left out and as one knows after awhile the eggs look terrible. based on what was available the $50 per person is overpriced. what really bothered me was the fact they charged 18% gratupity for a buffet! what is really bad is that they never mentioned it, just charge. not acceptable. the stuff flounder was dry and very fishy. We had the best meal we have had in the 13 weeks I have been In Atlantic Beach on a travel nurse contract- on Mondays and Tuesdays they have BOGO from 5-8 where they offer 4 of their entrees to chose from/ my husband and I had the filet mignon with whipped Yukon potatoes and zucchini- the steak came with sun-dried tomatoes, basil and feta on the side and a lovely tomatoe based dip - it was wonderful! We also had desserts- I had the key lime pie and my husband who is gluten intolerant had the flourless chocolate torte- well worth the trip! Fantastic dinning experience. In fact it was so good we ended up there two nights in a row. Drinks were great, great service & host, and the food was amazing. The first night (Sunday), my wife and I had the special which was the catch of the day. Blackened snapper, zucchini, and Yukon mashed potatoes. On Monday they had BOGO entrees. We both had the blackened flounder (pictured), mashed potatoes, and zucchini. We also shared the scallops as an appetizer which was phenomenal. I would recommend making reservations or get there right when they open if you have a small party. We will definitely be back next time. Great experience, both nights!! read more

We were not planning to come to Island Grille when spending only one night in Atlantic Beach, but the restaurant was highly recommended by a local so we thought we would give it a shot. We also never order crabcakes outside of Maryland - no matter how good people claim them to be. But, again, a local - and our bartender - raved about them so we ordered the crabcake appetizer. Definitely in the top five crabcakes of all time (yes, I have a list). For our entrees, the IG burger was delicious and the shrimp & scallops over grits was so satisfying. Never had a bad meal, until this evening. Every kitchen has an off day... but this surprised us. Oysters Rockefeller had to send back and they were gracious but my husband and I each had one oyster. Tasted funky. Texture was dry and leathery. Flavor off and not sure what happened to the cheese on top. Certainly not the creamy, spinach with Pernod and mild melted gooey cheese that I know as Rockefeller. I ordered the appetizer crab crake which was awesome. The arugula salad was dry, chewy with little to no goat cheese and not worth the effort to chew. My husband's black drum was very small, rare in the middle and dry on the ends. You know things didn't go well when you get a burger to go. The table was tiny, not comfortable and we were both hungry and disappointed. Can't help but wonder if we got the Sunday chef. We will try again but not or next time down. Will head to table 9 instead. read more

Water came out quickly, and drink orders taken as soon as we were ready. Drinks were good. We shared appetizers of crab dip with pita, and focaccia with whipped ricotta. Yum! All the entrees were excellent, with the crab cakes taking the prize for best in show. Our service was prompt, informative and friendly, but never rushed. We'd found this place on Yelp and are so glad we did! We went around 5:30 on a Monday and they were fully booked for the evening (note: make a reservation) but told us the bar was first come, first serve and they would let us know when two seats became available. We were able to get a standing space at the bar pretty quickly and ordered drinks and an appetizer. They bartender found us two extra seats and had them brought to us, fantastic service! The crab dip was delicious as well as our drinks: the key lime pie martini and a painkiller (recommended by a local)...both were delicious. We did the BOGO special with the shrimp/scallop pasta and blackened grouper - everything was flavorful and fresh. Thank you to the bartender who was kind, hilarious and one of my favorite people I've encountered recently. We are only in town for 5 days but will be recommending this place to everyone. read more

Great food, but both my mother and I got so sick after eating 2 of the Shrimp & Scallop Pasta dish. My sister and her boyfriend ordered 2 of the Stuffed Filet, and they didn't have any issues at all. I also ordered the Grilled Mahi dish with no issues. Only from the Shrimp and Scallop dish. We have been sick for over 2 days now and were not able to go to work. I have been coming here for over 20 years. Never had this problem in my life. I'm not sure if I will ever come back. Spent over $200 dollars to get sick on my Birthday. read more

Go to try this place when visiting my mom at the beach for her birthday. It is small in size, but I liked the neon lights outside and inside décor. I felt they used their space well between the bar and dining side. They had a smaller menu with seasonal options, but many items were tempting. I started with the house salad, but also got to try my husband's seasonal salad (spinach, bacon, blue, apple, shaved onion). They were both sizeable and the vegetables were nice and crisp. The table shared the mornay & macaroni 5 cheese blend with roasted tomato, and slab bacon (served with duck chips) as an appetizer. Holy moly this was delicious! SO cheesy. For dinner I got a shrimp and scallop dish with grits, spinach, bacon, parmesan, and some delicious broth. The seafood was cooked perfectly and married well with the other ingredients. We started with the lime cilantro chorizo little neck clams and they were fantastic. AMAZING!! Reservations recommend! It's small yet charming and the food was AMAZING! We didn't have reservations but they seated us at the bar (fine by me) and Miss Kayla, the bartender, took excellent care of us! I started with a cocktail, the Cherry Bourbon Sour(excellent) then for dinner I had the Seafood Scampi, Shrimp, Clams, and Scallops with cherry(green, yellow, orange)tomatoes over Angel Hair Pasta which was AMAZING! For dessert, I had the Chocolate Cake with a warm chocolate ganache filling and Champagne whipped cream! It was AMAZING! We will definitely visit Island Grill again next time we take a day trip or weekend to Atlantic Beach. You won't be disappointed! read more

The crab cakes here are the best crab cakes I have ever had in my life. I basically eat crab cakes any chance I can get. I struggle to imagine how they could have been better. I've already been dreaming about this dish, and thinking about when I can go back. The crab cakes came with white rice, and cucumber salad. It was all delicious. My dining partner got the local mahi, with mashed potatoes, and zucchini. That was all delicious. We each had a fruity cocktail - mango tango lemonade, and a blueberry gin and tonic. Both were fantastic; the blueberry g&t had real blueberries, and was not too sweet. Refreshing! I also had a split bottle of cava, and that was good, too. This place is small, and diners are tightly packed. I would absolutely go here most nights if I could. The servers were great. I liked the local sea art. read more

We went early with no reservations and were able to eat at the bar. This small place was packed for good reason! Our server, the bartender, was incredibly friendly and made our meal really enjoyable. We got the filet mignon and the seared scallops and shrimp linguine. All of it was amazing! I also had a peach tree tea that was tall and delicious! The menu is upscale, but as it was just my 11 year old and myself, they made us feel very welcome and comfortable-- and he devoured the steak! The scallops on my linguini were melt in your mouth tender. We finished it all off with a flourless, chocolate cake and ice cream. The cake was gooey and warm, and wonderful! Definite 10/10!
