Stayed at the Doubletree Atlantic Beach last night (4/6/18). Had dinner at the Prime 1079 restaurant located in the hotel. Service was great, our server (I didn't get her name) was friendly and attentive. We started with the crab dip appetizer. The portion was more than enough for 2 to share and it had real crab meat. My only criticism is that it was a little bland. I couldn't taste any Old Bay or other seasoning but it was still good. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my mom had the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp and grits was $2 more than the shrimp basket. I don't understand the logic of that. There were 4 shrimp, about 6 thin slices of Andouille sausage, a sprinkle of bacon and maybe a cup of grits. There wasn't any pimento cheese or diced tomatoes as described on the menu. I asked for no parsley to be sprinkled on my food and the server assured me that they didn't sprinkle parsley on the shrimp and grits, just green onion. I told her that was fine. When she served my dinner, she explained that they sprinkled parsley by mistake and tried to pick it off. She offered to have them remake it but I declined, I didn't want my mom's food to get cold because she would have waited for me. The shrimp and grits was like the crab dip, in need of seasoning. It was very bland and disappointing. All was not lost as there were 2 highlights to the meal. The fried shrimp basket was wonderful. My mom got 12 jumbo sized shrimp and a hearty portion of fries, it was enough for 2 people. 12 huge shrimp for less money than the shrimp and grits with 4...made no sense. The shrimp were delicious, nicely breaded and well seasoned. We both added a side of asparagus, the vegetable of the day. We each got 4 large, thick spears that were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We will definitely go back again, the hotel is a great getaway for ocean lovers with spectacular views. Next time, I'll definitely order the shrimp basket, an excellent value for the cost. read more

This place should be a gold mine but it's a mess. It's not a steakhouse. It's the lounge in the Doubletree. Same menu as Molly's. They don't use the restaurant section. The lounge is really bad. Service is fair at best. Always seem confused there. Unless you are staying at the hotel and don't want to drive or do Door Dash, there is no reason to come here. read more

Absolutely horrible! We wanted to eat in on our first day at the Doubletree hotel, as we'd traveled all day. This is the prime reason so many hotels capitalize on having in-house restaurants. WELL. We were the first ones there, and there was only one person working. She doubled as hostess/waitress, took our orders, told us what dishes were not available and what was. I don't know how long after our order she came, but she told us that because the kitchen was shared with the restaurant outside (Molly's), there was a bit of a wait. We were fine at that point because we were tired and were willing to sit and just look at the ocean. But we ended up waiting an hour. My kids never even got their fountain sodas, and couldn't even find her to ask for them. She disappeared and honestly I think the restaurant lost two other groups while we were waiting because no one was at the hostess stand to greet them. Even as the line at Molly's was dwindling down, our order never came. We ended up leaving at 7pm after being served only 4 waters. I would have given her a heads up about our leaving, but again, she couldn't be found. read more

Very awkward place. They have a fantastic geographical location but do not capitalize on it. Never ate in the dining room bc it's too quiet and awkward. The bar is absurd. It's about a foot too short and no foot rail/rest. And, way too bright, Bartenders on 2 different nights were inexperienced. Obviously, never drank at a bar, Simple drinks. Rum and coke. Vodka tonic. And most importantly, scotch and water. Complicated, I think not! read more

(This visit was made during the times of Covidious back in October. When things return to a look of normality - your experience likely will vary.) It was a long drive down to the area and we were hungry. There is not a ton of options that are open on a weeknight later in the area so we opted to schlep to the hotel restaurant. Two things worth noting: 1. The older pictures from a different poster show a menu that existed here in the past but currently that menu is well...a thing of the past. I assume like a lot of other restaurants this place streamlined things in an attempt to right size their costs. I included two pictures of the front/back of the current menu. They keep those in a pile at the front desk but you will not find them in the rooms or that I noticed anywhere else on property. 2. On the bottom of the menu it mentions that reservations are required yet the front desk will tell you that you don't need a reservation and that showing up is more than good enough. We were there over a weekend when the hotel was sold out one night and nearly sold out another night yet patronage was light at best. Black Angus Ribeye - Crab Cakes - Chicken Tenders The best part of the meal was the rice blend that they served with all of the entrees. Why? The cakes have too much filler, 1/3 of the tenders were rock hard over done and the ribeye was shizzling with too much grizzling. Two other points worth noting: 1. Everything is served in Styrofoam take out containers so if you're some enviro-hippe you're not going to like this and also it honestly looks like they called the restaurant down the street and got the food from them. Odd. 2. Even though the front desk said just show up, that led to some confusion. There was no one in the restaurant and to get someone's attention I had to pop in to the bar/lounge next store where both members of the staff were kibitzing (maskless of course) with the people they had in there. They tried to have us eat in there but I wasn't having it. Eventually things worked out but clearly we were annoying them. Overall the prices are meh and the food was serviceable. Would I recommend coming here? No and in the future if we come back we'll be looking elsewhere. read more

My hubby had mahi tacos with onion rings and said they were wonderful and my son had chicken wings with bbq flavor and he devoured. We ate here because we were staying in the hotel and it was storming out and then had the breakfast buffet one morning. If you can, save your money and go somewhere else. Everything was meh. I had the fried shrimp basket and my child had bbq wings. The breakfast buffet wasn't good. There are a few options but the food didn't taste great. Save your pennies and try Bite at the Box for an awesome breakfast with a beach view. Try dinner at Island Grille. One saving grace for this hotel is Molly's Beach Club outside by the pool. They have a large menu and the food was great! read more

Menu does not look good and neither does the food watching people next to me. I had a glass of red wine they had 2 to choose from I picked Josh Cab. I drink Josh wine at home even though they did not have Merlot I went with Josh. All they had on menu was hamburger, shrimp burger, a couple of appetizers, steak that someone was eating near me looked fatty and had tacos for lunch at a local place so nothing I wanted to eat here. It was empty only 6 people in bar and restaurant was empty. Not 1 table or person. With that you know there is no movement of food so did not want to take the chance. Granted we did come in an hour before they closed on a Thursday night, but come on! The chicken Parmesan sandwich was terrible. The chicken had no flavor other than burnt, the sauce was straight from a jar and not even warm and bread was cold. My husband said his burger was really good, so gets 1 stars for that. I wanted to order room service instead of DoorDash or delivery. Room service always feels so much more high class because of the way it's presented. I am unsure if because of COVID that food cannot be served on a tray in a hot dish with silverware or what because our food was delivered in a plastic bag with plastic containers and no silverware. Worse that a delivery because the tip was $10 already added on plus an additional $4.00 to bring the food up. The man who answered the phone when I called was great. He was funny, outgoing and made me laugh. He was the only part of this whole experience that I enjoyed. The cheeseburger was so greasy and the meat used was not of good quality. My daughter did like the French fries. The crab dip was an average crab dip but the pita bread tasted almost burnt which was weird cause they were cold. The garden salad was a decent salad but once again, I had no silverware. For a fine dining restaurant, I was not expecting a golden Italian dressing either. The crab cake sandwich was good. The crab cake itself was a lot of crab but there was no form to it. I didn't not eat any of the bun. The onion rings were what ruined the whole thing fir me. Marcelo was the waiter, he rocked! Very personable but not intrusive. Calamari was perfect! Red sauce phenomenal! Very disappointed in rest of meal - 8 oz filet was more like a sirloin. It was way over season with pepper, which is disappointing because of the steak house named prime you would expect the beef to be a high-quality that could stand on its own. The grilled shrimp was disappointing as well. Very small and not what you expect at a restaurant right on the ocean. The Mac and cheese was wonderful- just like grandmother made :) No bread was not served with the meal which was odd too. read more

The menu was not what I found on-line. Very limited menu. We decided to leave after ordering our drinks. We went back to the same place we went a few days ago. Service was slow, even with a handful of patrons at the restaurant. Crab bisque tasted like it had a pound of salt in it. Since I was staying at the hotel, I went down to get breakfast, it took so long to get my food that I went up to the waiter and asked him to cash me and my fiancé out for just the coffees that we had gotten. The hotel ended up comping our meal. It took 30min to cook 4 eggs, the potatoes were not cooked through. The Executive Chef, Josh, provided one of the best dining experiences of our lives. His customer service, culinary skills, and attention to detail were beyond expectations. He visited every table in the dining room during each course to ensure his diners meals met their expectations. From appetizers to the desert, everything was on point and cooked to perfection. He has recently taken over the position of Executive Chef and if our experience is any indication, Prime 1079 had a great future ahead. This is the restaurant attached to the Double Tree in atlantic beach. We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days, tried the place for breakfast and dinner one time before releasing it is an abomination. The tl;dr of this review is that it is below hotel grade attached restaurant quality. If this hotel has a food an beverage manager they should be replaced immediately (if they even have one)... Breakfast: Being HHonors members we received coupons for the free breakfast. Awesome right? We assumed that this meant the breakfast buffet, so when our waitress "T" asked what we would like for breakfast I responded with, "what does the coupon entitle us too?" She made a sweeping arm gesture to the buffet so we had the buffet. Buffet was okay, it was the exact same food as a Hampton Inn continental breakfast, I'm used to it, I eat it 200 morning's a year on the road. If you've read my previous reviews you'll notice that the thing I hate most in this world is tip hunting, and awkward tip situations. When we received the bill, I gave her my coupons but the bill still said $50.00! FIFTY dollars? She responded with, the bill will zero out AFTER she applies our coupon. This ladies and gentlemen is tip hunting, she, and all the other servers want you to see that the value of your meal was "$50.00" and they want a 15% gratudity. We ate an "okay" continental breakfast, NOTHING the four of us ate was worth $12.50 a piece! At this exact moment I was severely confused. The $12.50 buffet included fresh cooked to order eggs or omelets! You are telling me I could have had an omelet instead of powdered eggs! Your powdered eggs literally had standing water in them, and you only gave me that choice instead of an awesome omelet! So here is my response! No... I will absolutely not participate in tip hunting, and providing unearned gratuity! Your responsibility as a server was to tell me that the omelettes are awesome, tell me what I can get on one, and bring it out expediently. I am NOT going to tip you for pointing me to a buffet. You are wrong, everything you did was wrong, everything about this place is wrong. Dinner: After a long day on the beach (a different day from our breakfast experience) we decided to give dinner a shot. We really weren't interested in the food, we more or less wanted a drink or two and something to talk over. We arrived at 6pm, the placed should have been packed considering that the hotel was at max occupancy, but it was not. There were only four other people in the place. Ohhh the things that were wrong... We each ordered a steak, neither of them were seared or flavored, my guess it they threw them under a broiler... there were grey and mushy looking... Or "waitress" had no wine recommendations, when we asked for the recommendation we were handed a list.... After receiving our food, we voiced our complaints to the waitress and left for dinner and drinks else where... My recommendation: Avoid this place at all cost! If you are a HHonors member don't let them scam you out of an omelet. They have subpar quality hotel cooks in the back that I feel confident that could make an omelet. They do not however have an a "chef" in the restaurant. My guess is that they paid an advertising firm good money to come up with a name for the place that would entice people to come, but the looks of it the hotel has probably just written of the place as a loss. I was skeptical to try here for dinner because of the other reviews. We ate here twice during our stay for dinner, had the crab cakes and the shrimp with grits. Both were way better than expected for a hotel. We would eat here again for dinner anytime. read more

We went back to this restaurant to celebrate or 5th wedding anniversary. With Brandon as or waiter he made our evening very enjoyable. We ordered the rib eye steak with the garlic mash potatoes and a side salad. My wife's steak was just what she ordered and the plate presentation was beautiful. My steak wasn't to my liking and they took it back and made a steak that I had ordered. Both of our steaks and fixings tasted great we didn't have to add and extra seasoning. We had the crab dip for an app. It was warmed through but not bubbly. Waitress never gave us specials, I saw them at the front desk afterward and wished I would have ordered one of those. I ordered the stuffed flounder for $20. The flounder filets were VERY small medallions that look like a garnish for the giant portion of macaroni and cheese which was runny. Our waitress constantly apologized. She left my water empty several times. She forgot I asked for bread with my meal. She was sorry for making us wait to order. I'm really excited about the changes being made at the restaurants at the DoubleTree! Tonight in the lounge, the Executive Chef was wandering around, talking with guests and sharing ideas about changes coming to the menu. We had crab dip with pita and roasted veggies, roasted veggie salad and sampled a couple of items soon to be on the menu. Everything was delicious.
