Reservations recommended. The small menu was interesting. Has the Indian fish cakes. Curry and grouper. It was great, the shrimp and grits were grit cakes with skewers of large shrimp. It had your not so usual sauce that was really delicious. The service couldn't have been better. The view from all over was beautiful. It's a great dining experience.

It's clear from the impeccable service, atmosphere and cuisine that the people at City Kitchen are deeply passionate about food. The menu features super fresh, locally sourced ingredients that are prepared to perfection. Think Southern American food with a hint of international flair. All of the dishes we ordered had us craving more (not because we weren't full, but because the flavors were incredible!) For my shrimp and grits enthusiasts: note that CK prepares the grits as cakes. Different, but still delicious. Reservations are an unspoken must - especially on the weekend!

We had another amazing meal at City Kitchen this past weekend. The grouper special was perfectly prepared. One friend ordered the bone-in pork chop, and we couldn't decide which was better, the grouper or pork chop. They also offer a delicious beet salad- so large that the 4 of us shared it. The seasonal dessert was beyond description- gingerbread cake base topped with pumpkin ice cream.

The food and ambiance is top tier! I enjoyed every bite of my dinner. This was grouper with a lemon butter sauce.

Absolutely fantastic dinner out with friends, celebrating their birthday thisbpast Wednesday. Everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared, and gorgeously plated. Our server was on point and the killer mojitos were too. If you are wanting a fancy, yet relaxed and superb dining experience-- this is your place! Lots of parking and gorgeous setting too. We are coming back to try the tiki bar soon.

Outside bar. But the inside bar is an option as well and is quite stunning .

What a delightful location with fantastic views if you choose to eat outside. But even if you elect to eat inside the decor is very pleasing and well appointed. We ate outside with a wonderful view of the harbor and marina area. Our waiter was attentive and great at describing each dish we had questions about and you could sense he loved working for this restaurant which made the ambiance even better. We chose the little gem salad and the grouper and of course ended with dessert. Each dish was scrumptious and the presentation was perfect. The grouper was moist and seasoned perfectly, served over jasmine rice and a fresh corn (local) relish. Yummy! We had the blueberry cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding and we enjoyed both. Don't miss out on this gem of a dining experience.

City kitchen is absolutely amazing. Not only do they have one of the best views in the area but everything is made from local ingredients and whatever's in season. The tenderloin is what I had and it was cooked to perfection with potatoes and crispy onion pieces along with pesto and a steak sauce. It was easily as 10/10. If you're in the area and want a nicer dinner, check City Kitchen out. Also try one of their cocktails!

Step one should be the same for everyone. Get there when they open at 4:45 because damn does this place get busy quick even on weekdays. When I rolled into the parking lot at 4:40, I had probably 15-20 already at the door. Step two, if you get there at open, consider bar seating. Clam Chowder - Scalloped Scallops - Key Lime Pie I'll just keep it at this. Is anything I ordered going to reinvent the culinary wheel? No, and one could argue that the only negative here is that most everything is on the pricey side. But with that said, everything was extremely consistent, everything was brought out perfectly timed, my cup never runnethed (sure, it's a word) empty and the bar staff are all excellent conversationalists. Also one big upside, the ambiance. The bar area is kept dark as it should be in any bar type situation and the music selection was mostly a fantastic mix of classic R&B and Blues. Can't tell you the last time I enjoyed seafood while listening to John Lee Hooker (well, I can and it would be never which is why my mind was sort of blown). Groaney, groan, groan on some of the pricing but the overall situation here is worth the five stars. I get the hype and I get why it's always busy. Also, kudos to the owner who was up front and making sure to thank every single person that walked by/out the door. Very classy.

The menu is creative both for food and drinks, and you're definitely going to need a reservation to get seated. While you're there expect top notch service, and food that is really good, but at least in my experience, falling a bit short of the excellence the prices are aiming for. We were all kind of hungry and thirsty when we came in, having spent the day on Shackleford island, and being shut down at every turn by the restaurant we stopped into first hoping to have some appetizers (they were out of everything we asked about). This boded well for Parrott's, we got several apps and cocktails in addition to our mains. Unfortunately, it was really those apps that I felt fell short. Our waiter talked up the lamb meatballs to the point where we were really expecting to be blown away, and ultimately, they were pretty ordinary, and just two of them, making it hard to split amongst 6 people. Same could be said for the pork belly bbq skewers, they were small and didn't thrill any of us. The main courses made up for those shortcomings, a couple of us got the grouper, there was a scallops and grits order, a delicious pesto chicken pasta, and some crab cakes that I ended up being pretty jealous of because they stole the show. These mains were a good size helping, and each robust in their own ways, showcasing creativity and excellence in the kitchen. In the end, for the amount of the bill, you expect everything to be top notch up and down, and it fell short of that to me... but not so drastically so that I wouldn't recommend the place to others, with the caveat to have appetizers somewhere else first.

The bartender was busy working and singing in between taking orders as she prepared drinks for customers. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered the specials before we placed our order. We love to sample the menu when we travel and the vast menu of tapas gave us the perfect opportunity to try just about everything. They had a smaller wine selection, but there was something for just about everyone. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to try if we were torn between several menu options. The Spanish lamb meatballs, truffle honey pork belly and rosemary beef were the tapas that stood out as the most flavorful and making us each want just one more bite. The Spanish meatballs were glazed with sriracha which caused me to pause before ordering. However, I'm so happy that we gave them a try. They had a bold flavor, but the whipped feta and cilantro were enough to balance the heat. The truffle honey pork belly was sliced differently. We have only had this cut into cubes at other restaurants in the past. The way that they slice the pork belly is so much better. The pork belly was served with cheese grits. We don't even like cheese grits, but could not get enough of these smoked Gouda grits. The rosemary beef with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The beef was tender, the asparagus cooked to perfection and who doesn't love mashed potatoes. We visit the crystal coast about twice a year and always try a couple of new places. This is the prime reason so many hotels capitalize on having in-house restaurants. WELL. We were the first ones there, and there was only one person working. She doubled as hostess/waitress, took our orders, told us what dishes were not available and what was. I don't know how long after our order she came, but she told us that because the kitchen was shared with the restaurant outside (Molly's), there was a bit of a wait. We were fine at that point because we were tired and were willing to sit and just look at the ocean. But we ended up waiting an hour. My kids never even got their fountain sodas, and couldn't even find her to ask for them. She disappeared and honestly I think the restaurant lost two other groups while we were waiting because no one was at the hostess stand to greet them. Even as the line at Molly's was dwindling down, our order never came. We ended up leaving at 7pm after being served only 4 waters. I would have given her a heads up about our leaving, but again, she couldn't be found.
