Pineapple mojito was *chef's kiss* It is a higher scale restaurant, so it was on the pricier side (both our entrees were in the $40s), but they were really good. Our server was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He made every dish seem like a Michelin star plate. We sat outside right on the water. Highly recommend. I came back for their Bloody Mary, and we ended up staying for lunch. The service was great and the view is hard to beat. I ate the shrimp bake from the starters menu and it was perfect for lunch and was so tasty. If you go, ask if they're seating in the Sky Bar; they didn't offer and it's amazing up there! A star was taken off for that reason, as well as water on the floor that no one bothered to clean up, and the BM was $19!!! read more

It took 15 minutes to get seated @1:30 for lunch even though there were only a handful of diners in the place. Our server Alana was attentive and friendly. The food was the main problem. The pompano fish sandwich was the worst I've ever eaten. I've only had pompano in Florida, but this did not taste like the same fish. My daughter asked for no bun but extra lettuce, but no extra lettuce came on plate. The fish portion was also very small yet pricey. Moonrakers came highly recommended to us from a friend who lives locally. She told us that the view from the sky deck just can't be beat, and she was definitely correct! What an amazing start to the meal! All of the staff, from the hostesses at the front to the server and bartender were all super pleasant and helpful. We started with a Painkiller and a draft special, which were both fantastic. Our server said that the Cajun chicken panini was "life changing", and he wasn't far off! It was a real joy to experience Tasso again. In a rare development, all three of my kids loved their food: chicken fingers, cheese pizza, and cheeseburger. Best place to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Gorgeous views from their rooftop bar! If you are lucky you might even see wild horses on the island just across from your table.After your drink head downstairs to covered terraces with views of all the big yachts docking for the day. It is not just about the ambience,enjoy good coastal food,too. My only suggestion would be for the salt shaker to be spared a bit more; my mahi tacos were a little too salty. Our party of four visited Moonrakers Rooftop, which is undeniably a beautiful location. Unfortunately, the service experience did not match the setting. We were seated promptly, and our waitress, Allison, quickly took both our drink and food orders after delivering our drinks. The rooftop was busy with guests enjoying the beautiful weather, which we completely understood. However, after finishing our drinks, we waited extensively for our food with no updates. Eventually, Allison returned and explained that she had already checked with the kitchen twice, but our order still was not ready, despite several tables seated after us already receiving their lunch. Shortly afterward, manager Steven came over to apologize and assured us the food was being plated and would arrive within two minutes. At that point, we remained patient and understanding, assuming the issue had been resolved. Unfortunately, another 15 minutes passed with no food. One member of our party eventually went to the bar to ask for an update, and it became clear that our order was still not ready. Rather than addressing the issue directly, manager Steven looked and walked away, while Allison informed us that we would still need to pay a $90 bar tab for our four mixed drinks. To be clear, we were not difficult customers and were understanding that mistakes can happen. Had someone simply acknowledged earlier that our order had been missed or significantly delayed, we would have appreciated the honesty. Instead, we waited over an hour after placing our order with little communication or resolution. Allison appeared to be genuinely trying to get assistance, but the lack of support and accountability from her manager Steven who watched and walked away made the experience extremely disappointing. read more

Moonrakers is a great restaurant in Downtown Beaufort. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating right on the water. I chose to sit inside as I'd been out in the heat earlier in the day. Next time, I will need to enjoy the outside view. The restaurant was gorgeous inside and my table had a view of the open kitchen. My waitress was also the bar tender but I didn't know that until I was leaving. She made me a special drink after asking what I liked and recommended the lobster roll saying it was the best she's had. I'd agree with that statement. The lobster roll was fantastic with tons of lobster mixed with mayo and chives stuffed into the buttery bun. I couldn't finish it so had to take some to go. I wasn't sure how it'd taste as another meal but it tasted as great as it was in the restaurant. The fries for my side were also tasty. Moonrakers will get a return visit from me. read more

Right off the water and in the downtown area. Nice Hostesses, a great Waiter/Server who made our dining experience great. Nice airy seating with a great vibe. Menu had options, and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with fried calamari, which was very good, not a huge portion for the price. My wife rolled with the chowder and said it was good. We were visiting from Chicago for our yearly Labor Day weekend trip and decided to have dinner at Moonrakers after checking out other establishments near by. Definitely did not disappoint! The food was delectable, the decor was sophisticated, and the staff were welcoming and attentive. We were lucky to catch the sunset and the views were beautiful. Service was a bit slow compared to what we are used to in the city but thankfully we weren't in a rush and I'm sure they were busier than usual due to the holiday. This is a unique place where you can dine inside or outside and they have a rooftop bar and tables and you can eat upstairs also. The menu upstairs is different from the menu downstairs. It was a chilly afternoon in December. The views from inside are lovely. They were preparing a mulled cider for the flotilla that evening that smelled divine. Our appetizers were delicious. I could have licked the bowl of the whipped feta and the kale Caesar salad was really unique and flavorful. The rooftop scenery is absolutely worth the visit--beautiful spot with a great vibe. The only downside was the lack of shade. A few umbrellas or better covered areas would go a long way, especially on a sunny day. As for the food: it really delivered. The truffle fries were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The jerk chicken wasn't quite what I expected, but it was still really tasty. The burger was a hit--everyone who tried it loved it. And my wife is still raving about the fish and chips. Overall, a great spot for a casual rooftop meal with solid food and awesome views. Just pack a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. This past weekend I was in Beaufort for a weekend meeting and one night my wife and I wanted to go somewhere besides the hotel restaurant (which was great, shout out to 34 Degrees North) for a nice dinner. After seeing Moonrakers from out in the waterway on a boat, we checked out the menu and were able to get a reservation that night! After making our reservations Moonrakers texted to see if we would prefer indoor or outdoor seating which was a very nice touch. With it being a very warm weekend for this time of year, we chose to sit outside on the deck which was PERFECT! Great views and ambiance, we even got to see some dolphins swimming by during dinner. Admittedly I did not even notice it on our way out to the deck, the dining room and open kitchen area looked awesome when we were walking out to leave! Additionally, while we did not go up there, the rooftop also looked like a very fun spot from the water! For our drinks my wife had one of their mocktails which she enjoyed and I ordered a glass of the Picpoul wine, which I figured would go perfectly with any seafood I would order! Overall they had a very nice wine list with a pretty wide range of options! For food I started with a cup of the Clam Chowder which was even better than I could have hoped for! Rich, thick, creamy, with a good amount of clams. Easily one of the better New England Clam Chowder's I have had! Then for my meal, I actually had the appetizer portion of grilled oysters. While they were good, and they oysters had great flavor, the breadcrumbs/butter/cheese on top overpowered the oyster a bit. I think if they cut back on the tops just a bit and didn't have quite as large of a mountain of toppings they would actually be a bit better and you could taste the oyster itself much better. My wife had the baby kale salad with grilled shrimp on it, which is an asian inspired salad and it was extremely good! The dressing, oranges, and cashews all worked together wonderfully! If you are even in Beaufort and looking for someone just a little more upscale than your typical on the water fish joint, I think Moonrakers is a great spot to try! We ate outside on the deck overlooking the water, which was nice with beachy music playing at the right level in the background and dolphins swimming about 30 yards from us. We had the calamari appetizer which was very good. Our entrees were also very good. Followed up with desert. Everything was fantastic. From the time we walked in the service was friendly and on top of everything we needed. The staff all helped each other out, which was a pleasant surprise these days. This restaurant is listed as being dog friendly and that dogs are allowed in their outdoor area. However, when we showed up for our reservation, we were told we could not bring our dog, and that only service dogs were allowed. Maybe you make that clear so we don't waste time making a reservation to a restaurant we can't go to since we are here on vacation with our little dog. read more

Mark O. I echo your sentiments. Never have I seen a resturant work so hard to not accomodate guests when they could. I booked a reservation for 5 which is the most I could do on opentable. I called after to ask if I could get a table for 6 as there where 3 couples and it was for a birthday. No. I called again the day before; also No. We had to waive off the other couples for drinks as this was now impossible to book any restaurant on 4th weekend. There were only half the tables occupied and to add insult to injury the reworked a table for 6 into a deuce and a 4 top right in front of us to accommodate a smaller table that never materialized during the 2 hours we were there (see picture below). My husband and I were impressed with this spot. It's beautiful from the outside, three-stories of imposing brick with green ivy growing up the sides and a visible rooftop deck with firefly lights. Inside is gorgeously done with white headboard and classic interior touches. The bathrooms are gorgeous and exceedingly classy and clean. Inside seating areas on the 1st and second floors were very pretty but the outside deck seating facing the water can't be beat. We watched sunset cruises take off and saw dolphins! The rooftop bar area (sky deck) has several tables and a bar area where you can get some light snacks and drinks. They do not serve the entire menu but it has a lovely view and the breeze is nice. There are elevators inside to take you between the three floors. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet. She made recommendations upon request and gave us a bit more detail on the dishes we had questions between to help us decide. We tried the whipped feta with pita bread and loved it. As well as the kale citrus cesar salad and has puppies. For our entree, we split the fish of the day which was a curried swordfish with zucchini and cauliflower. Very good. Only issue was the hush puppies which were dry and over fried and overpriced at $8 for about 8 of them.... would not reorder that one.
